SAP Solution Packager

I am testing SAP Solution Packager for future possible use in company template setup.
I am trying to package a solution for an SAP solution configuration we have developed in a Canadian Localization company.  When I use the Solution Packager however, in Step 2, there is no Canadian Localization in the selection list to choose from.  Choosing a US localization only allows me to select the US companies for packaging in my solution.  How do I package a solution for a Canadian localization company?

I found an SAP presentation from Dec 2009 which says that Solution Packager can build packages for the following localizations: Australia/New Zealand, Brazil, Germany, Spain, France, United Kingdom, India, Italy, Mexico, United States.

    BBPCRM 500 is part of Solution Manager 7.0 and 7.0+EHP1. But please check the update guide. It states that "SAP Solution Manager is updated to EHP 1 using transaction SAINT and Java Support Package Manager." So not via SAP Enhancement Package Installer as EHP for SAP Netweaver.

    EHP1 is basically a product enhancement of 700 - i.e offers new functionality
    Usually to get to Enhancement packages you need to be operating NW2004S stack based product - in this case 4.0 (now called Solution Manager 7.0)
    I think this proposal will require first an upgrade from 3.2 to 4.0
    then after applying Enhancement Package EHP1 and following pre-reqs for both steps
    Also bearing in mind that Solution Manager is RFC dependant any change in SID, Hostname or client will require
    all RFC connections will need to be adapted
    There may also be special considerations depending on source configuration or the active Solution Manager scenarios and content
    I would take a look at following PDF for reference - it may help in the initial 3.2-->4.0 upgrade

    I wanted to know if installing ABAP instance is enough? or I have to install Java also?

    SAP Solution Manager is separate application.  You need ABAP+Java stack to use Maintenance Optimizer.

  • Configure ECC 6.0 EHP4 in SAP Solution Manager SP15

    Hi all,
    I just upgrade a system from R/3 4.6c to SAP ECC 6.0 EHP4 NW 7.01. I want to configure the system in SAP Solution Manager just upgraded to SP15. But I don't understand how I must to configure the system and to assign a logical component. It seems not to be the same possibilities between System configuration and Logical configuration.
    For system configuration I can choose product version EHP4 FOR SAP ERP 6.0 / NW7.01 and a full list of usage type
    For logical component I only found product SAP ERP ENHANCE PACKAGE and a very short list of version and usage type (??)
    Is someone know if it is normal or if it is necessary to patch solution manager ?
    Is ther a documentation existing to configure ERP EHP4 systems ??

    I have not seen any document to configure EHP4 systems specfically.
    I do not think, Solman SP15 should create any problem in that. But, since you are upgrading your landscape to EHP4, so why leave solman to SP15 instead of Ehp1 (SP18/19/20)...

Report/manage internal quality problems or issues. Install and manage quality control systems to insure product quality. For supplier or subcontractor based issues this data should be used as a performance measure during the vendor evaluation process.

    Manage Product Disposition     This process ensures those semi-finished and finished products that do not meet quality requirements, are prevented from being used and distributed in good finished product to customer, or released for the next step of the production process. A semi finished product is any material that needs to have another operation on line before being shipped to the customer. Finished goods are defined as any material that can be shipped to a customer; in house produced finished goods, subcontracted materials and trading goods. The information required to make decisions regarding disposition comes from the Quality Management system of each production facility. The first step ensures that raw material and returnable goods are dealt with in another subprocess. The reason for the goods not meeting quality standards is recorded along with the results of any investigation to find the cause of the fault. Information is sent to all other parties who need to know: order fulfillment, inventory management and shipping.     Operations Execution Reporting     Gather manufacturing information at various points in the production process. Prepare management reports both at the detailed level for plant management and summary level for senior operations management. Reports will be available on-demand and will include - volume, efficiencies (mechanical, line, and labor), yields, downtime, asset utilization, environmental, safety, quality, and financial data. A major goal of this sub-process is to define a consistent method of calculating operations metrics. Some plants will use line information systems and PCSs to collect information. Not all plants are equipped with these systems and the where they do exist, the level of sophistication varies.

    Manage Process Reliability     Optimize capacity by reducing process downtime and ensuring compliance to quality expectations by the reduction of rejects. Install tracking systems to measure line time utilization, quality results, process settings. Conduct root cause analysis, and use the data to develop and implement improved operating procedures.

    I have one very quick doubt and would be really glad if you can help clarify.
    As per documentation from SAP and also IMG screens etc. it seems like 'a project' in SolMan will hand-shake with 'a project' in QC.
    Can I therefore assume that if there is only one instance of SolMan (productive) and one QC server alone (again, productive), any number of trials I carry out between SolMan project and QC project will not spill over into other projects in these two systems and thus have no impact whatsoever at server level.
    The reason for my asking this - in my project, Testing has started using QC in a standalone mode already. We have just one server. If I have to carry out any tests/ demo between SolMan and QC, it shouldn't impact other 'standalone' projects being done in QC.

    Hi Sanjan,
    let me provide you some more information.
    First of all you create a SAP Solution Manager Project in Transaction SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN. I think this should be no problem. After creating the Project, make sure that the tap "Test Cases" is switched on in this project. The tap "Test Cases" is the tap below "Project Standards".
    Go to transaction "solar02" and choose your created project. Find the tap "Test Cases" and upload a sample file. Please note that the configuration structure of this project can be configured in solar01 (Business Blueprint). There are many settings you can choose in a project regarding ti your requirements. Try to find them out! :-)
    In transaction Test Plan Management (STWB_2) you can choose all relevant test cases you uploaded in your project and generate Test Packages which are mapped to your choosen Testers.
    In Transaction stwb_work you will see the testers workbench.

    NO, you dont need to deploy SMD agent. SMD Server Package on Solution Manager, SMD Agent on monitored system.
    Do you really want to monitor the Solution Manager system(JAVA)? If so yes, install SMD on Solution Manager, if you dont, then just deploy LMSERVICE on Solution Manager(use Solution Manager as the SMD server).
    Hope that makes sense or answers what you want. I dont know if you want to monitor Solution Manager, more like want SM to do the monitoring of your satellite systems.

    It doesn't appear to be true, no.
    The Configuration Express Wizard was / is a tool downloadable from the SDN, where the Solution Packager is provided by SAP with the installer packages.
    This would indicate they are different tools.
    I am trying to work out what the practical applications of these might be

    Hi,
    Only for major Support Package Stacks (09, 12, 15), SAP provides Development News on the content.
    So, there is no document available for SP13.
    Support Package Stack 15 was released end of February 2008.

    Go to OSS and add the files to download basket
    When done return to screen and hit continue

    Error message comes if your sap user and your oss user are not setup in AISUSER screen
    Now go to SAP Download Manager ( On your local pc ) and download the files you just confirmed – of course using the same S-User id you just added them to the basket with
    Apply support packages via spam per normal process
    Return to the SOLUTION_MANAGER window select the landscape you are working on
    Hit Maintenance Optimizer List
    Choose the maintenance transaction you are working on
    You will see a list of the confirmed and downloaded sp’s you selected
    Once you apply these to the system using SPAM you will change the status of implementation to Completed and Hit Save
    This completes this activity
    If you wish to do more work you will have to create a new transaction.
    [Edit section] Add A New Instance to Maintenance Optimizer
    Sign into Solution Manager
    Ensure new instance has valid license installed and logical clients assigned
    Select Landscape Components
    Right Click Systems
         Select Create new system with assistant
    Enter
    SID / Description / Product Type / Installation Number ( Get this from SLICENSE in system you are setting up )
    Next enter Sys # & MEssgae Server and hit continue
    Next select Generate RFC Destinations & Assign Logical Components & Enter Client #
    I always get a problem saving since SLD is not setup – ignore and continue
    Highlight the system you just added under Systems – SAP Global Trade Services –
    Select Assignment to Logical Components
    Now add additional software such as Net weaver ABAP & JAVA if your primary setup was of another type ( ex. GTS )
    Highlight the system you wish to update under Systems and hit change
         Select Header Data
         Click Installed Product Versions
         In the product box add whatever you require for this system
         Select the version from the 2nd box and hit copy
    Ex. 
    If you cannot setup the trusted system here is a workaround:
    Create User in Target for Trusted System RFC from SM1
         User:      <Username>
         Pass:   <Pass>
         Type: Communication
    Use this when setting up the trusted connection, remove the trust and use this CPIC user info for the RFC.
    Generate RFC’s and ensure SMSY setup is done for SID in Solution manager
    Now Create a New Solution For your instance:
    Go to SOLUTION_MANAGER transaction
         Select NEW
         Give Descriptive name: ex. GTS Landscape
    Under Solution Landscape
         Select Solution Landscape Maintenance
         Select System Groups and Logical Components Tab
              Open Solution Landscapes
                   Select the one you just defined (GTS Landscape)
    SOLTION_MANAGER
    Select Change Management – Support Package Stacks
    Select Maintenance Optimizer
    Select the Product Version
         GTS 7.1
    Select the System Type – SID
    From here you will be prompted to go to service marketplace and add the items you wish to install. You can do this beforehand as well, be sure to use the same Suser you setup in AISUSER with your sap login
    It will ask you to confirm the basket, once you do that you install them normally.
    Download with sap download manager, ftp and apply

    SEP is an additional package on top of Solman which must be licensed separately.

    That is the right path - if you don´t see SolMan you have to either contact your sales person so that you get an installation number or create a call at XX-SER-CONTR and ask for an installation number for SolMan and the download permissions.
