Satellite L30 PSL33E: After downgrade to XP DVD-RAM doesn't burn

My notebook (Toshiba Satellite L30 PSL33E) came with Windows Vista but it is very slow with this OS and one of my friends downgrade my OS to XP.
But now my DVD-RAM doesn't burn!

Please check this:
Access the DVD-RAM properties (right click & properites).
There you have to choose the TAB called recording.
Then check if the option Enable CD recording on this drive was marked!!!

    Hi there
I have a satellite L30 (PSL33E) Notebook Computer and I downgrade from vista to XP and had to download and install the followimg drivers from : http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU

  • Satellite L30 PSL33E won't start at all - LED flashes six times

    Hello,
My poor mother is quite distraught! Her Satellite L30 PSL33E has just died.
It completely shut down and now won't start at all.
Orange light flashes six times when the power button is pressed.
No hard drive, fan, screen or any other noise / activity.
She has tried it without the battery.
Some sort of hardware failure I imagine.
Any ideas what this blink code means?
    Thanks in advance,
    D.

I dont know what the code means but you can read it; short means 0 and long means 1
Anyway, the error code means that an hardware fault was detected on the motherboard and only the motherboard replacement could help you?
    Why?
because is really hard to repair a notebooks motherboard.
Its mostly not possible if you dont have enough knowledge, experience and special tools.
I think either you will contact the ASP in your country and will ask for a fix or you will have to buy a new notebook ;(

  • Satellite L30-10T - After XP downgrade it's very slow

    Hello,
I have downgrade my Satellite L30-10T from Vista to XP Pro SP3 and I have installed all driver, but I have some problems:
All systems command are very very slow, isn't possible switch-off by XP command, install new programs is slow ....
    thank you

    Hi
Do you have yellow exclamation marks in device manager?
On the Toshiba website I have founded an installation instructions document. Did you follow this installation order for all drivers and tools?
Furthermore please check in device manager if you have enabled the DMA mode for the primary and secondary IDE controller.

  • Processor upgrade on Satellite L30 (PSL33E)

    Hi,
Does anyone know whether the L30 (PSL33E) supports core 2 duo?
And if so, has anyone tried it?
(also, have noticed that newest bios for these online is v2.60 and mine is v2.80 from new)

    Hi,
No I dont think it is possible because of the chipset. The chipset could not handle the new cpu. The other thing is:
How do you want to install it? Do you know the instructions how to exchange the cpu in a mobile system? Its not the same procedure like in a desktop.
I did once and I had many problems, especially with that "microcode" thing, because you will need a special DOS-based program which writes the microcode of the cpu into the bios due to the features of the cpu.
This program is only available to toshiba technicians and I didnt get managed to get a copy of that program.
So just forget your idea and benefit from my experience (and dont waste money and time :) )

  • OS installation problem with Satellite L30 (PSL33E)

    Hi all.
So I have been given a laptop by my firiend to fix. Now what he has told me is this. He was playing a game and the laptop froze. He held down the power button and restarted the laptop. Upon restarting the laptop it said windows recovered from a serious error. After this he could log back onto his computer. So he used the toshiba restore cd but this only fixed the problem for a short while.
Now when he gave it to me I booted it and as it tried to load vista it says there a missing file: wdsuti.dll and i got an ErrorCode:0x3E7. I looked this error up and from there I formatted the drive and tried a fresh install of vista.
Vista installed fine to the point where it asks for a restart as soon as it restarted it failed to load again.
Now I've tried other disc's like the XP disc I ahve to install XP and then use the vista upgrade disc but the same thing happens.
At the moment im trying another installation of vista. It has installed vista but is running very very slow and took forever to install. Upon its first boot it crashed and came up with this error message:
    Windows Failed To Start
    file: windows\system32\config\system
    status: 0xc00000e9
Now Im stumped with a PC im fine as I can take the parts out and swap them etc.
My guess the hard drive is dying.
Am I right or could it be another problem?
Any help would be much appriciated.
EDIT: Also to note I did reset the BIOS to default settings and I am now currently running Windows memory diagnostics tool.

    Hi Richard
I agree with you and think it can be because of hard disc. I have had similar problem on my old Satellite notebook. Suddenly the notebook was slower and slower. I was able to install OS but after short time I have noticed the same.
I have checked HDD and there were so many defective sectors. I presume the same situation is with this notebook. To avoid service try to obtain some used HDD for test purposes.
Sorry but I do not have other idea what you can do.

  • Satellite L30 PSL33E: Link to the Power Saver does not work

Problem : can someone help me to find , this driver to download
When i choose to download the driver ( WIN XP) Power Saver link doesn't work.
    http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tools/Satellite/sl30/xp/tps/pwrsav-psl30e-xp-70307q-en.zip

For me it works too but download is extremely slow. I presume Toshiba do something with servers and result is slow data transfer. Maybe in few hours it will work as usual.

  • Compressor 3.5 - Burn DVD Preset - Doesn't Burn DVD

    Hello,
Loving the Compressor 3.5 Burn DVD preset, but lately, it's not loving me back.
I send a movie to Compressor, select the "Burn DVD" preset, let the project encode, wait for the burn process to begin, get to "1 minute remaining" on the screen, then BAM!
Compressor goes from "1 minute remaining" to 2, 3, 4+ minutes remaining. And the DVD I've been waiting for isn't burned. I look at the unrecorded part of the DVD and only see my reflection (I take this as the unburned DVD mocking me, as I sit/stare at it, as if I were in some sort of "stupid" contest with the thing).
I let the machine sit for several minutes to an hour. Nothing.
    I've changed DVD brands. Nothing.
I tell the machine that everything is going to be alright. Nothing.
My FCP system was acting very buggy lately (relating to fonts). I created a new user account and it solved all my issues FCP/Motion font issues. But this Compressor issue is something new.
Now, if I go back to my old account, I get the same hang up with Compressor. The Create DVD Preset is encoding my stuff, but not burning my stuff.
In the interim, I'm taking the encoded assets into DVDSP, and creating a menu-less Video DVD.
Taking comments, questions and suggestions about how to solve this issue.
    Compressor, where is the love?

Can Compressor output a disc image properly? That could be burned with Disc Utility.
Does the Create Disc app ever launch? There is no progress window, but you can see a new app and menu bar appear. Also, try doing this with Activity Monitor open. It would be good to know if the fault is Create Disc, or something else.

  • Satellite L30-10Y: Checksum error after upgrading to 2Gb RAM

    Hi
I have a Satellite L30-10Y ^ months ago I upraded the RAM to 1.5Gb by adding a 1Gb RAM card to the 512Mb card supplied this worked fine.
I also upraded my sons Hi-Grade lapto with exactly the same specification of RAM which also worked fine. So I decided to up grade my L30 10Y with another card of the same specification to bring it upto 2 Gb as specified by TOSHIBA.
I booted the computer to find the hay presto after the start screen The Following message appeared *"_The file is possibly corrupt.
The file header checksum does not match the computed checksum_"* The computer then froze and I turned it off.
Checks I made Tried both cards in both slots No change, 1 card in both slots (one slot empty) Works fine. Other card in both slots(works Fine) Sons Card in my computer both slots (works fine) All three cards and 512mb card in all configuration of both slots and cards(works fine). All three 1gb cards in all configerations of cards and slots back to error message and some time 1 long beep and 2 short ones.
Yes the cards were installed properly. Cannot alter anything to do with BIOS although this can be accssed. Cannot run from dvd drive although I can select it.
Went back to 1.5Gb and reinstalled all OS from Toshiba recovery disk tried all over again same results. Running windows vista home basic, Bios is the latest download. RAM is compatible. Sons cheep Hi-Grade accepts all RAM in all Configurations no bother OS windows XP.
Can anyone think of anything I have not tried or should I just go and by a hi-grade computer?

    Hi Eldorado
Thanks for your reply, 2 of these modules were bought 6 months ago from the same company at the same time (company Offtek) who do a computer scan and provide the modules specific to your computer, and even then I checked the specification of the modules against the upgrade that Toshiba who also scanned my computer on registration and the modules are DDR2 533MHz (PC2-4200) 200-PIN SODIMM . The Third module came from the same company with the same specification.
I am very sure that all three modules will be compatible to the computer, and the specifications does not require the modules are matched pairs like the old sd ram. So what we have is a computer that will run two completely differnt modules of different sizes made by different manufacturers possibly slightly different specs, but will not run two modules from the same manufacturer made at the same time with exactly the same spec.(Must be a break through of innovation for Toshiba!)
I think the beeps may have been a little misleading as these did not accord every time I started the computer over the many tests I did, I still have to look up what these codes signify. I tried looking in the Toshiba knowledge database but I think it's empty or they just don't have any knowledge complete waste of time or I don't know how to use it.
My next step its to contact Offtek and see what they suggest, Find out what the Header checksum is and what it is supposed to report and find out what the computed checksum is and why it does not match. One more thing I did notice that in the BIOS it did not report the full 2048mb it only reported 1984mb of RAM but I think this may be that video memory uses part of this. *_Unless someone out there knows something different_*

  • CPU upgrade on Satellite L30-101

Hi, I have a Toshiba Satellite L30-101. I've upgraded the RAM successfully to 2GB (2x 1GB) but I'm finding it incredibly hard to get information on processor replacements.
The laptop has the latest BIOS on it (3.10-WIN - 19/02/08) but when trying to find information regarding whats in it I'm hitting brick walls. Firstly the site > http://www.toshiba-tro.de/biosinfo/ < doesn't have my laptop on it,
    Product Type: Notebook
    Family: Satellite
    Product Series: Satellite L Series
    Model: ? unknown
    Short Model No: ? unknown
I did hope I could stick an Intel Duo in but with the ATI chipset, I'm pretty sure it wont work but again without knowing whats within BIOS, compatible.. I'm lost. The only processor I can find which may work, same package, FSB, socket is an Intel Core Solo Processor T1350 which kicks out 1.86 GHz, not a massive difference and I'm sure it can't be the only replacement option.
Could someone and staff please help me with getting hold of BIOS info and compatible processors for my laptop. The current Intel Celeron M Processor 410 kicking out 1.46 GHz isn't good enough for Vista (cert on laptop) and basic multi tasking. Its lagging way too much even after a good tune up, ram upgrade, HD upgrade to 7200RPM. I'm in need of a processor upgrade but as mention finding it incredibly hard to obtain information of which would be compatible.
    Sincerely,
    Gourcuff

    Hello
In my opinion your attempt to replace CPU is wrong. Why? Satellite L30 is not designed to offer some fabulous performance and it is designed for everyday usage. Best evidence for this was the price. It was not so expensive.
Can you please tell us why do you want to have new CPU? Do you use some special software?
Back to CPU replacement. As you probably know mobile computers have limited upgrade options and it is related to RAM and HDD upgrade. It is definitely unprovided for CPU upgrade and it is not supported. Specific design, especially cooling system is designed for certain CPU.
Due to all this you will not be able to find any relevant info about CPU replacement.
Check please this Toshiba document - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

  • Memory problems on Satellite L30-101

I have a toshiba satellite l30-101 laptop and wanted to upgrade RAM, so i bought 2x 1GB sticks to put in it.
Now i couldnt find any 533mhz ones so i bought 2 667mhz after a spoke to a technical guy who said if i got 2 of same speed it would work fine.
Only it doesnt at all i can put one stick in and it runs fine with the 533mhz.
One i have in if i try and put both new sticks in it comes up with memory errors and I get the bsod which restarts my comp and would not allow me to run my games or other programs.
Is there anyway to make it so I can have both of the new sticks in as i really need the ram and dont want to buy diff ones.
I mean if I can get one to work other one should surely work right ?
please help im going mad trying to fix the damn thing

    Hi
I think the memory speed has nothing to do with the BSOD!
In my opinion the BSOD appears due to the memory module malfunction!
Furthermore the L30-101 supports only the 533 Mhz FSB. In this case you will be not able to run the 667Mhz memory modules with full speed.
The modules will run only at 533Mhz!!!
So in my opinion you should replace the faulty module with a one which works fine!
    Best regards

  • USB slot of Satellite L30 shuts down Windows when in use

I recently bought a Satellite L30 (psl33E) for my wife, and all seemed to go well. That was until she needed more usb ports for her stuff, and used the port on the left hand side of the machine (as opposed to the one always used, at the back.) As soon as she tried to use this particular port, the box shut dow, and has done so ever since.
Could someone please tell me how to repair this, as it's only a few weeks old, and I'd rather not have to take it back to the store where it was bought.
    Hoping for a miracle.
    TIA.
    JimmyMack.

    Hi,
sounds really like a serious hardware issue. I assume that the USB port cannot deliver enough power when the other ports are in use.
If I were you I would bring the machine back or contact the nearest available service partner in your country and let them fix that problem.
Heres a link to find the nearest available ASP in your country: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_whitepaper.jsp?service=EU&WHITEPAPER_ID=0 000000871

  • DVD RAM installation

    Hi everyone,
    I have a BW G3 (listed below) running 10.2.x
I have a couple of questions: first of all, I just got a DVD RAM drive off a guy in town here for $5. I know the guy, so it's a good drive, he said it's in fine working condition. It's the Apple Model #LF-D111A
Anyway, I haven't attempted installing it yet - it's a simple IDE drive, but I have a couple of questions before I do.
First of all, he pulled this unit out of a G4, and it's listed as a G4 unit, but I read online that it can be installed in a BW G3 as long as you have the "decoder card" whatever that is! So first question: What is the decoder card? Do I have it? How do I get it? Is it worth it?
My second question is I plan to install OS Tiger on my system after I get the DVD RAM drive installed. Do you forsee any problems with this installation? Will I have to reinstall my program files?
    Thanks so much!
    Tim

The decoder module piggybacked to the B&W G3's OEM ATI Rage 128 graphics card. The earliest versions (1.x) of the Apple DVD Player program relied on hardware (MPEG-2) decoding, for viewing DVD movies. By the time that OS X shipped with newer Macs having faster CPUs, the Apple DVD Player program was able to use software decoding, not requiring the hardware decoder.

DVD-RAM disks must be formatted first.  Could that be the issue?
