Satellite Pro A110-178 doesn't start up

Hi all,
I really need some advise here...
My A110-178 does not start up at all! After pressing the power button, the power and battery light are lit (both blue, so my battery is fully charged). The HD-indicator gives a very short blink, and after that NOTHING happens... No fan, no HD, no screen, no sound, nothing!
My machine is four months old, and apart form the XP and Office 2003 only Adobe Photoshop and Symantec Client Security are active. Last logoff and power down was absolutely normal and by the book, so I'm really lost on what the right course of action might be (apart form calling Toshiba and be without pc for considerable time)...
Can someone help?
Thanks,
Erik

Hi Erik
Please remove the battery, connect your notebook to AC adapter and try to start notebook again.
If notebook starts wait a little bit and when operating system is properly started insert battery again. Please let me know what happen when you try to do this.

  • Satellite Pro A300 PSAJ1E doesn't wake up from standby correctly

I have a new Toshiba Satellite Pro A300/ PSAJ1E - 018006EN with similar problems too.
When mine goes into sleep mode it will not re-start unless the power button is pressed 'numerous' times, eventually it powers up, but in safe mode and everything that was being worked on is lost.

    I too have a new satellite Pro A300 PSAJ1E - 01E00VIT, and I'm finding a similar problem.
Sometimes, (not always: may be it depends on which program is running) when trying to put the computer in stand-by or in hibernate mode, it doesn't stop, but only suts down the monitor (panel), while the fan goes on running and the power light is green.
Then there is no other way of resuming than shutting down the computer by holding down the power button long time... but this is not correct!
NB: my computer is always connected to a lan, and generally there are some browser windows open when I put it in stand-by mode.
    How can I fix this?

  • My MacBook Pro 15,4" doesn't start at all!

    Hi everyone!
Today morning, normal day, after having my MacBook Pro charging all night (as always), I took it (without any cables) in the kitchen, in order to, very surprising, turn it on!
But nothing happens!! Checking battery status: ok (new), removing it and trying without, still nothing. I tried all reset techniques, as well as Ctrl + Cmd + Start button. But still nothing.
    What is happening?
When I press the button, I hear the DVD player making his little "clac-clac", the fan is starting, and the light as well, but as soon as I take my finger off the start button, it stops again! If I keep my finger longer on the button, it stops as well after a while (normal forced stop), but the "gong" never sound.
Can anyone help me with this? Where does it come from? I'm a computer technician, and fixed a lot of laptops, but when it comes to Apple, I panic, and I don't know what to do anymore! I'm always a bit scared to open it myself...
Maybe I should add that it's making some noise on the right fan since 2 months (as if a plastic piece was blocked inside), some kind of "clac, clac, clac", and it was getting really warm sometimes. The DVD-player is also a bit "curved", and it's problematic to extract the discs sometimes.
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Cheers,
    Ron.

    Hi everyone!
    Thanks for the answers.
@Advanced User: I haven't tried that yet, but I will tonight. And I found a Store in my town, in case I cant solve it myself.
@eww: I always buy original parts, even more by Apple. Of yourse I tried without the battery. All the basic tests were done. I also opened the machine and test electrically if anything was interupted. But I couldn't find anything. I must say my son (2 years old) found it very funny last week-end to play piano (pretty strongly) on the keyboard of the MB... But I don't think he broke something, otherwise I'd be really disappointed in a 2000€ notebook...
The exact model of the MacBook is MB133D/A, and I cant access any System Profiler, because the MacBook.... doesn't start! The battery was still holding 3 hours.

  • Satellite Pro L300/L300D series wont start properly

    Hi guys
I got a Toshiba Satellite Pro L300/L300D series and basically one day the laptop just stopped working and whenever I turned it on I just got to this blank page saying press CTRL + ALT + DEL to restart the system. So I tried to reboot it pressing F12 and using a new copy of Vista Ultimate. However when I come to install Vista on the drive it states that there is no drive present on the system.
Does anyone have any idea how I can overcome this problem, your help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    >What do I need to do and how can i create a partition if the computer wont start.
Can you please explain this again? It sounds pretty illogic to me. If your computer wants start how you can try to install OS?
Sorry my friend but now I am asking myself do we understand us correctly or I write about thing A and you write answer about something that I can define as thing B.
    Again:
Start your notebook and press F12 to enter boot device options
Put Vista installations DVD into optical disc drive
Choose CD/DVD drive in the list and press ENTER
Installations DVD will load (Windows is loading files...)
Follow the menu on the screen
When the stage with partitions is shown on the bottom right side (Drive options advanced)
The additional menu on the bottom will be shown
    Delete all listed partitions/partition
Use option NEW and create new one
Try to install Vista on this new created partition.
Can you do this or not?

  • Satellite Pro A200 - System won't start

    Hi,
was wondering if anyone could help?
My Satellite Pro A200 with windows XP won't start. It begins with the Toshiba screen.
Then goes to a black screen with text where it says "PXEE61 media test failure - check cable" (I have no cables) then says exiting PXErom; moves onto the next screen which lists options: safe mode; safe mode with networking; safe mode with communal prompt; Last known Good Configeration; start windows normally.
All of which have been tried and results in the windows loading page coming up for about 20 secs then it just gives up and tries the whole process all over again (before flashing a blue screen).
Nothing seems to work - have tried taking the battery out a number oftimes...and the power cable but to no avail.
This has happened before but after a few false starts gets going - however this time it just won't snap out of it. I could take it in to some where locally but i'd prefer not to as I'm living in Spain and need the laptop asap and not sure I want to leave it in some one else's hands at the risk of them wiping the hard drive.
I'd be so so grateful for any help asap and I'm afraid short hand tech may have to be explained.
    Many, many thanks.

    Hi
I think the problem is that the OS cannot be found on the HDD.
The PXEE61 media test failure - check cable appears mostly if the notebook tries to boot from the LAN.
Why the notebook tries to boot from the LAN?
    Well,
    - maybe the LAN option was chooses at first in the booting order in the BIOS
    - maybe the HDD is faulty and therefore the notebook tries to boot from LAN
    - maybe the MBR (master boot record) is faulty
I think you should take the Toshiba recovery CD and should format the HDD and should reinstall the OS.
    This should helps.
If not, then the HDD could malfunctions and should be replaced!

  • Satellite Pro M70-220 - how to start Advanced Boot Menu

What key must I press on my Satellite Pro M70-220 during startup of Win XP, in order to get into the "Advanced Start Menu" - that is, the menu that gives various boot options, such as Safe Mode, Last Good Startup Congiguration, Normal Windows Startup, etc. ?
On my old Satellite 5105-S702 laptop it was the F8 key, but pressing the F8 key on my Pro M70 does not appear to bring up the "Advanced Start Menu".
The Advanced Start Menu came up on its own a couple days ago, after an abnormal shutdown, so it would appear that it does exist on the Pro M70.
Thanks for any advice anyone can offer.
    AlanCB

    Hi
The Advanced Boot Menu can be reached pressing the F8 button.
Its a Windows based menu and its no matter what notebook it is.
It should work on all computers.
Maybe you cannot enable the Advanced Boot Menu because the Windows OS is muddled up.

  • Satellite Pro A60: Windows XP cannot start missing or corrupt driver isapnp.sys

I have had a Satellite Pro A60 for about 3 years without problems.
Last week the Toshiba in Touch screen developed bleeding vertical lines and I got error message 'Windows XP cannot start because of missing or corrupt driver isapnp.sys'. I have tried using recovery disk but this loads OK but then fails to make any difference. Hard disk appears to work OK as slave to another computer.
Any suggestions wil be much appreciated!

  • Satellite C50-A-1G6 doesn't start

My Satellite C50-A (6 months old) doesn't start up at all.
With the power adapter attached, a white light is on. When I push the powerbutton, it turns white for a second together with a second white light in front, next to the power light.
The computer tries to start and I can hear a click sound and immediately the light of the powerbutton and second light on the front turn off. After 6 seconds both lights turn on again for a second (a click sound is heared) and the lights turn off again, etc.
I tried to remove the battery and power adapter and waited for some time and tried it again, without battery and with battery.
This is my second Satellite C50-A-1G6....
The first died in a when it was a few days old, with a non functioning black display and I got a new one... this one that seems to be dead too.

On this virtual way it is not easy to say why this happen. I have similar problem on my older machine when I use standby or hibernation mode. Notebook tries to start but make click sound, goes off and try to restart. I can stop this just if notebook has no any power supply anymore.
After connecting Ac power supply machine starts properly and everything is OK again.
To be honest I don't know why this happen.
In your case best thing you can do is to contact your local dealer or Toshiba service directly and ask for help. The warranty is still valid so you must not pay for any kind of repair.
My machine is old and I don't want to spend any money for repair?

  • Satellite C55-A-1DC doesn't start anymore

    My computer doesn't start anymore!
When I push the on button, everything is going like it supposed to go,until you see the screen with:

    Leading Innovation >>>
And then it just stays stuck at that for a while, and then it just goes black!!
I don't know what to do anymore :(
    Please help me!!
(sorry for my bad english:( )

Are you able to access the BIOS?
Check this by pressing the F2 button after powering on the unit.
If this isnt possible, there must be some kind of hardware problem (motherboard, RAM).
In case you could access the BIOS, check the first BIOS page. Usually the HDD should be listed there. HDD name, size information should be visible.
In case this HDD isnt listed, I assume your HDD is faulty and should be replaced.
Of course, you would need to reinstall the system once again.
In case the HDD is listed in BIOS, I would recommend you to boot using the Recovery disk (or another Windows installation disk) in order to reinstall the system.

  • Satellite Pro L550 - WLAN doesn't work after new Installation Win 7/64 Pro

    Hi,
I installed a real Win 7 / 64 professional full version on my Sat Pro L550-199, PSLW9E. Now I can't switch on my WLAN. The big FN-bottons doesn't exist. I tried lots of driver I found on the Toshiba Support page.
Whitch is the right, or is Win 7 / 64 professional not supported with WLAN?
How I can switch on WLAN without the FN-Key?
    Lenny

    Hi Lenny-27-7,
Is your WLAN card installed properly in device manager? It must be listed under network devices without yellow exclamation marks. So you can make sure that WLAN card is installed.
For all FN keys you have to install Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility. Both tools can be downloaded on official Toshiba page where you can find the WLAN driver too:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
If you have installed everything you can start with WLAN configuration :)

  • Satellite Pro A200 PSAE4E doesn't boot after XP BIOS update

Hi there, I need some help!!!
just recieved laptop, tested all ok with Vista business and everything works fine.
Now i have a requirement to test a build for a duel boot XP laptop and followed the enclosed instructions for changing the BIOS to enable me to install XP.
Re-started the laptop with the bios disk, selected the XP bios and all seems ok.
The phone rings, i answer. When i finish I look back at laptop and screen is white.
Leave it for 20 mins still white. Turn off laptop and restart, no tosh splash screen, nothing.
Now will not boot, so what do i need to do to get this thing working again???

    Hi buddy...
That looks very bad! :( it look like something went wrong during the BIOS update procedure and therefore the notebook cannot boot correctly.
Hopefully only the ROM module must be flashed again.
This can be done only by an authorized service provider!
I don't see any other solution as to contact the ASP in your country and to ask for the help and further handling.
    Good luck and best regards

  • Satellite Pro A200-1MA - Doesn't boot after disassembling

Thats the one so my laptop was overheating heavily and I decided to clean the cooler and the parts around it. I disassembled the laptop to the point where I can take the cooler off, cleaned it and then I put everything back. The problem is now it wont work.
It starts normally, passes into loading windows (Ive got Windows 7 sp1) and then after 10 seconds or so he just shuts down. I tried to go to bios but it does the same thing after 10 seconds. First time it showed BSOD with no explanation. Just that some part stopped working and that it needs to shut down, but I cant figure out what. CPU should be fine, it cant overheat in 10 seconds so its not cooler either, begins the Windows loading so RAM and HDD can also be excluded.
My best guess is that I connected something wrong but I disassembled it 3-4 times today and cant find something that is not connected. When I remove that upper plastic I need to disconnect this wires: speakers, on/off button, touchpad, keyboard, and another 2 or 3 connectors which I am pretty sure they are USB conns, LAN maybe etc...
So, can you at least tell me where to begin? What to check?

no, i cant boot anything. its not about the boot really or electrical damage. laptop works perfectly fine for aprox. 30-100 seconds (more than a few hours earlier when he worked 10-25 secs (?)) he starts booting, confirms that hes startup did not work properly last time. he than attempts startup repair, loads files, background changes and than you have win7 background and attempting repairs continuing to work, like he should do. and than he just turns himself off with that sound that you can hear when your toshiba a200 overheats and turns himself off.
its really weird that if i let every single wire, that i had to unplugg to get to the cpu, unplugged - the result is the same. and only thing i really touched is cpu cooler and i cant really know how could i mess something there when i have startup repair working before he shuts down. that would mean that cpu is working right?
so i think the problem here is rather trivial. is it possible that sensors send fake temperature data so he THINKS that he is overheating?
i am not professional but that laptop is 4,5 years old, has no warranty and nearest official service is 300km away from me so i cant really go there to clean the cooler. i will call them tomorrow and see if they can help me... wanted to hear your opinion first, though.
p.s. if anyone has or knows how to get service manual for this model, it would really help. the amount of support you get for this model is ridiculous.

  • Satellite E200-002 - Bluetooth doesn't start

    Hello bluetooth community.
I just bought my Satellite PSE20C-002002 (I think that is the model number), and noticed that I do not have built in bluetooth hardware after buying a bluetooth mouse. I went and bought a bluetooth adapter (bluetooh usb 2.1 micro adapter from iogear, model #: GBU421) and after installation a new tray is supposed to open up in the bottom right corner to do the connecting process to bluetooth devices. Well as you might expect it is not there.
Could someone point me in the right direction? Thank you for time.
    --Running Windows 7.

Yah I believe when I install the drivers and software it installs the bluetooth stack also. I cannot confirm this though. Also I do not see the icon when I push the little arrow(bottom right) and look around in there. I also went into the program folder and manual opened up the bttray.exe which should put the icon in the tray. I see that after I open it the exe is in my processs list, so it opens, just nothing happens. The retailer of the bluetooth device tells me that since the adapater works on thousands of computers running windows 7 it should work on mine. Thanks again.

  • Satellite Pro C650-153: movie music starts "stuttering" every 5, 10 second

Recently my computer has problems playing movies and music. When I try to do this it is fine for the first 5 minutes. Then my computer the movie/music starts "stuttering" every 5 to 10 seconds. The screen freezes for a second and the rest of the movie is played really fast. Also the sound/music stops for a second and you here a scratching sound.
I have tried using other mediaplayers like BSplayer or Quicktime but its the same story with those players. I am currently using Windows Media Player and Itunes.
I have already cleaned the vents of my computer because I was thinking it was to hot, but that is not the case. Also I have removed all the files I don't need anymore and cleaned my computer using CCleaner etc.
I don't know what the problem is. Can anybody help me?

    Hi
Found this very interesting Toshiba FAQ document:
*The sound / video playback of a media file is stuttering*
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB12033I0001R01.htm
It looks that old Intel rapid storage technology driver could cause the problems.
Update the driver and test how it works.
