Satellite Pro L650 - System Recovery Media lost

Hello,
excuse my English pronunciation.
I got a laptop of my clients who has unfortunately created during installation no backup. Now he has installed Windows XP directly after the purchase and created no medium. Since we ourselves only Professional - customers we have no installation disc for the customer. Is there a way to help our customers and to get an installation disk for Windows 7 64bit without buying?
Thanks for answers.
Tobias

> ...and to get an installation disk for Windows 7 64bit without buying?
And how to do this? Your client was warned by Toshiba reminder that recovery disc should be created for further OS installation in case HDD recovery will be damaged or deleted.
So now if he wants to have recovery image again he must buy it. as second option there is OS installation using Microsoft installation disc.
All necessary drivers, tools and utilities must be installed additionally one by one but all of them you can find on Toshiba download page.
One more important thing:
Many people here think that recovery image is saved on HIDDEN partition. This is not truth. HDD recovery image is saved on usual second HDD partition in folder called HDDRecovery.

  • Re: Satellite Pro L650-1QG lags terribly Windows 7 64bit

    Hi all,
my Satellite Pro L650-1QG started to lag terribly (Windows 7 - 64 bit, Service Pack): It now often reacts delayed on input (mouse clicks, opening new tabs in browser, typing letters in Open Office etc.). Sometimes the lags are 3-5 seconds, often more, sometimes shorter. In the meantime, cursor changes to "swirling ring"-symbol. Video and Audio sometimes staggers while playing e.g. Youtube-movies. This also happens in secure boot mode.
    - I reinstalled Windows through Toshiba HDD Recovery.
    - Windows is up to date.
    - Drivers are up to date.
    - BIOS was updated in March as suggested by Toshiba. Everything went fine for month after that.
    - Avira Antivir, Windows Defender and Spybot S&D do not show any hits
    - PC Health shows average CPU temperature and "good" hard disk drive status
    - No fingerprint software is installed (which is suggested as a source for lags in the knowledge database)
Do you know of any possibility to identify the problem?

First, thank you all for your advise. Unfortunately I still have the same problem, after trying the following:
    - Installing the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Software (11.6.0.10309) - as mentioned above
    - Disabling TosSENotify and ToSWaitSrv via CCleaner from the Autostart - which amounts to switching of Toshiba HDD Protection, I think
    - Deactivating the Wireless Adapter and Ethernet Adapter in the Device Manager
Obviously the notebook worked somewhat faster, but I still encounter the short freeze periods. Oh dear...

  • Error message: this computer is not supported by the system recovery media.

I replaced a bad samasung hard drive in my Pavilion dv6z 3200 with a Seagate Momentus XT 750 GB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 32 MB Cache 2.5 Inch Solid State Hybrid Drive ST750LX003 and when trying to restore Windows 7 64 bit OS get the error message "this computer is not supported by the system recovery media"

Is the new hdd at least as large a capacity as the original? Can be larger capacity, but sometimes smaller will cause error.
Enter BIOS by tapping F10 key. Is all system info intact/complete?

  • Satellite Pro L650-1CG - HDMI output not working

Laptop: Toshiba Satellite Pro L650-1CG, Intel i3-350M, ATI 5650, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD
When I plug my laptop into my Toshiba HDTV and select 'Connect to a projector', all I get on the TV is a black screen.
Catalyst Control Centre can 'see' the TV, and I can adjust resolution options for both displays, but no matter what options I try, I can't get the TV to show a picture/sound.
The TV is obviously detecting SOMETHING, because it goes from a blue screen to black. On device manager, I can see the HDMI Codec but even though it says it's enabled, I can't set it as default. It says underneath that it is 'unplugged', and when I run the HDMI Control program, it says 'To use HDMI Control, you must enable it'.
I have all the latest ATI/sound drivers, as well as pretty much every driver update out there. Also, there is nothing wrong with the cable or my TV, my PS3 uses the same connection.

Generally speaking the whole thing is quite simply. From time to time I connect my Satellite P500 to BRAVIA LCD TV and I get pic on it in 5 seconds only.
    TV is on
    Notebook is ON
Connecting HDMI cable on both devices
On TV I must enable HDMI port
On notebook use FN+F5 and I get all available options and switch to TV only.
    It works perfectly.
I dont know why you use projector option. Is HDMI port enabled properly on your TV?

  • Hp the system recovery media does not support this computer, WIN7 GS72 Notebook

    HProduct: GS-B66US (17" I3 notebook)
    OS:             Win7
    Bios Rev:   F.47
Error message: "hp the system recovery media does not support this computer.  You are not able to restore this system"
Changes made to system:  Updated bios (I think).
Getting error messages (at system boot, as windows start, and from the intel hard drive controller) warning me to backup data and hard drive my fail.
I replaced the harddrive and inserted the first of my 4 recovery DVDs (created before I updated the bios).  After booting from the first recovery disk I get the following message
"hp the system recovery media does not support this computer. You are not able to restore this system with the media"
The computer still boots with the old hard drive (with drive failure imminent messages)  I do see support assistant offering another bios update but I did not install it with the hard drive problem
    PLEASE HELP
    TIA

    Hi,
I think there could be two possible reason. wrong media or systemboard is changed.
did you create any recovery media yourself or you ordered the recovery media from hp? also, was there any systemboard replacement done before?
media created on some other computer (same model) may not work on your computer.
you can order the media from hp.com here.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c00810334
also once systemboard is replaced you need to get the configuration settings done for BIOS(only HP can do it).
    hope it helps

  • System Recovery media does not support the computer. HELP!!!

Ok problem here the recovery discs that were created do not work. And this is where I'm stuck.
First the details. It's a DV7-6163CL Laptop with windows 7. The discs were created shortly after we got the computer. The reason we have to try and recover the computer is hard drive #1 failed and failed hard. Hard drive was replaced. Now after trying to use the recovery discs we get the error message after a few windows loading screens in Recovery Manger.
"The system recovery media does not support this computer. You are not able to restore this computer with the media."
Well Hp doesn't support his platform anymore due to its age.
Is there anything I can do next to formatting the computer and getting a new OS?

Many times this error is caused by missing info in BIOS. Can you enter BIOS-F10 at power on- and check for serial number, etc?
Sometimes a new hdd requires prepping with Cyberlink Utility cd first. Download and Save the file. Once download is complete, put a blank cd in your drive and click the file to create a boot cd. Boot with this cd and wait until you get a green check mark indicating hdd is ready. Remove the cd , insert first Recovery Disk and restart the laptop.

  • Satellite Pro L650-1QG: Keyboard button mismatch

    Dear audience,
i am not satisfied with the keyboard-setting of my Satellite Pro L650 1QG I5-4.
Before I had a Satellite S5200-701 which worked well for almost 8 years after i have replaced almost any critical component at half-duration.
However, finally the Controller was out of order and last week the Laptop was not functioning anymore after this problem resided for half a year but the Laptop did not fail until last week which prompted me to install and use my new laptop.
I felt very comfortable with my old laptop and his settings.
However, the new laptop has an akward setting of its keyboards.
"ALT GR" is replaced with respect to my old keyboard and now the "CTRL" button has exactly the same position as on my old laptop so that it is possible that I write an "CTRL Q" when i liked to type "ALT GR Q" or "@" which happens quite often and shuts down the program (EXIT).
How can this problem be solved. Is it possible to get a fix? Either by replacing the CTRL-button with a deaf one or by changing the setup of the Computer?
I am not sure that I can adapt to this problem since any "normal" keyboard is different and looks like that of my old laptop and working with a USB-Keyboard is no solution!
    Thanks, Headlost

    Hi

I think there are no many options for youYou used a keyboard which supported a different layout the L650-1QG supports the 102(Euro) A4+10key flat standard black keyboard this might be different to the older Satellite 5200-701 keyboard.
Not sure if you could replace the keyboards because of the measures so maybe the one and only option for you is the usage of external USB keyboard which would be similar to Satellite 5200-701 keyboard

  • Satellite Pro L650 Series - White balance of screen error

    Hi all,
I am using a Satellite Pro L650 series. When I use the laptop for several hours, my screen becomes wrong white balance. In detail, the screen brightens so dazzling with strange white color. If I open some website, the pictures in the website becomes blurred images.
If I set the screen in blue color, it cannot easy realize the dazzling color, but if I set the screen in white or green and yellow, it become so abnormal colors and blurred.
I have to restart my computer, and this problem can be solved.
Is there anyone meet this problem like me?
Could you share to me what the problem is? and what is the solution for this problem?
    Thank you very much,

    Hi
Did you notice this screen issue running notebook with main power or just using battery power?
I read about similar notebook screen issue which was related to Intel display power saving technology.
In such case you could solve this disabling this feature. Go to Intel display panel - power tab - power source/battery - power conservation feature - display power saving technology and uncheck this option.

  • Can't recover my system using the system recovery media

Last month my computer started reporting an imminent hard disk failure. So I created a set of system recovery discs, purchased a new hard drive, and tried to start the recovery process. But in the process my DVD drive failed, and then my BIOS chip had to be replaced. Finally I'm ready to try to recover my system using an external DVD drive, but after booting to disk 1 and looking like Windows is starting, I get the error message:
    HP Recovery Manage
The system recovery media does not support this computer. You are not able to restore this system with the media.
    0110-QF521EA#ACB-QE360UA#ABA
    0130-ACB-ABA
What's going on here and I how to I recover my system?

I liked Paul Tikkanen's suggestion of downloading an ISO file and booting to that (http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and-Software/System-Recovery-Restore-and-All... The system starts a Windows boot but soon asks me to install a CD/DVD driver. I can't find one and the installation will not let me proceed without one. I am getting pretty frustrated!

  • Satellite Pro A200 - Hard Drive has lost half it's memory

I have a toshiba Satellite Pro A200 running Vista. Vista came preloaded and I don't have any discs for it. I have had it since new (Sept 2007). The hard drive is split into drives. Recently my C drive has competely filled up and I now have no space left (55gigs gone) I store no data in this drive. All my media (music, photos, other files) is in my E drive. I have to run C Cleaner each time I boot up in order to have enough space to operate the computer. I also have to delete all but the most recent restore point in order to function.
I am at my wits end and think I must have a virus or something. Is there a way to restore the computer to 'new'? I have all my files backed up on an external hard drive so I don't mind starting from scratch. Bearing in mind I have no install discs as Vista came pre-loaded.
    Can anyone help????? please!

If you don't have any disc and if you didn't get any disc with your notebook that means your notebook was delivered with HDD recovery image and this image is saved on second HDD partition in folder called HDDRecovery.
Recovery disc can be created using preinstalled Toshiba recovery disc creator. I don't know if you still have all this.
The whole story with HDD is somehow strange to me. If your notebook has two partitions and partition C is full I am asking myself what is with second partition. It must be pretty empty.
What is capacity of second HDD partition?
What is free space on this second partition?
You wrote about E drive. What is E drive?
You must understand that nobody of us know what are you doing exactly, what programs are installed on your notebook. You wrote about no saving data on partition C. Maybe you are wrong about it. Maybe you download many torrents and they are saved somewhere on HDD. who knows?
Do you have some friends with good PC knowledge? Try to find someone who can take a look onto preinstalled system and check what is going wrong there.

  • Satellite Pro A200 - System won't start

    Hi,
was wondering if anyone could help?
My Satellite Pro A200 with windows XP won't start. It begins with the Toshiba screen.
Then goes to a black screen with text where it says "PXEE61 media test failure - check cable" (I have no cables) then says exiting PXErom; moves onto the next screen which lists options: safe mode; safe mode with networking; safe mode with communal prompt; Last known Good Configeration; start windows normally.
All of which have been tried and results in the windows loading page coming up for about 20 secs then it just gives up and tries the whole process all over again (before flashing a blue screen).
Nothing seems to work - have tried taking the battery out a number oftimes...and the power cable but to no avail.
This has happened before but after a few false starts gets going - however this time it just won't snap out of it. I could take it in to some where locally but i'd prefer not to as I'm living in Spain and need the laptop asap and not sure I want to leave it in some one else's hands at the risk of them wiping the hard drive.
I'd be so so grateful for any help asap and I'm afraid short hand tech may have to be explained.
    Many, many thanks.

    Hi
I think the problem is that the OS cannot be found on the HDD.
The PXEE61 media test failure - check cable appears mostly if the notebook tries to boot from the LAN.
Why the notebook tries to boot from the LAN?
    Well,
    - maybe the LAN option was chooses at first in the booting order in the BIOS
    - maybe the HDD is faulty and therefore the notebook tries to boot from LAN
    - maybe the MBR (master boot record) is faulty
I think you should take the Toshiba recovery CD and should format the HDD and should reinstall the OS.
    This should helps.
If not, then the HDD could malfunctions and should be replaced!

  • Satellite PRO S300M-EZ2401 Recovery Disc---Vista Business or XP SP3

I bought this second hand with a Microsoft XP Service Pack 3 Recovery Disc (XP OS). It is Windows Vista Enabled with licensed sticker at the bottom which I assume is a Vista Business CD key. If I order a recovery disc for this model, will I get the one with a vista business installer so I can use the CD key at the bottom? I have read in one of the messages in the forum that a retail version installer will not recognize the CD key found at the bottom of this laptop as this is an OEM. confused confused. I thought I can just get a vista business installer and put in the cd key.

    Satellite Pro S300M-EZ2401
Since the specs above say it comes with Windows Vista Business (32/64-bit version), SP1, then I think it's fair to infer that's what the recovery discs will contain.
The package may also include the downgrade media mentioned there.
In any case, the key on the bottom is irrelevant. Whichever Windows becomes available when you restore from  recovery discs is pre-activated. There is no activation required.

  • Satellite T110-12T - Creating recovery media

I have recently purchased a refurbished Toshiba Satelite T110-12T and am in the midst of creating some recovery media on 2 x DVD. It is now approahing 2 hours and the gas gauge is still at approx 50% of first disc!
Can someone please advise me if this is normal or should I abort and re-start? What is your experience of the time taken?

    Hi Xardas
Thanks for the advice. I am using Sony DVD-R discs in an external CnM drive so I would have thought that they were ok. In the end I cancelled after about 3 hours at 50% of first disc.
I may try again with my Sony discs, otherwise I will get some Verbatim or TDK ones as you suggest.
I think there was the option for using a USB stick but I don't have one with enough capacity, I'll have to buy one if I don't succeed with DVDs!
I will let you know how I get on. Thanks again.

  • Toshiba satellite L300D-01, system recovery not working.

Yesterday I was just on my laptop then it just suddenly turned off, with a blue screen (that didnt stay on long enough for me to read) when i tried turning it back on it would go as far as the green bar loading, then a black screen, I tried waiting for a bit sometimes load up is slow you know, but nothing happened, tried same thing over and over again, still the same outcome. so then I tried the system recovery to the out of box state, it finished but the drivers did not install.
and what happened was when I did that it said it was finished made my account name and stuff then the blue screen popped up again then shut off and restarted, then when I tried restaring again the same thing would happen over and over again. I tried one last time on the system recovery and my laptop would not stay on long enough to finish. so I dont know what to do, or whats going on or if theres even a wzy to fix this. if someone could give me any information please thank you..
