Satellite System Kernel Information

Hallo,
is it possible to find out in the SolMan about the kernel release and the source id of the satellite system? I was searching the SMSY and the SLD but couldn't find that information.
Thank you for your help,
Michael

Hi Michael
If SLD does not collect or display this information (check Technical Landscape in the SLD UI) and you use SLD as a data source for SMSY, you may not get this information in SMSY - please however check SLD landscape data and SMSY thoroughly in case it is captured
However for satellite systems in SMSY that have ST-PI installed and use RFC as a data source Kernel data might be available - also there may be other locations to get this information such as in EWA reports for the system or via MOPZ
Also if Central System Administration is setup you should be able to go directly to the satellite system from Solution Manager and check System-->Status in the system itself (using TRUSTED RFC without saplogon required)
Best wishes
Stuart

    Hi Experts,
Is there any report in solman system to pull kernel levels of all the satellite systems or is there any process to find out kernel versions of all the satellite systems at a single glance in our solman system.
Our solman system version is 7.0 EHP1 SP6.
    Thanks,

  • TMW_GET_TARGET_SYSTEMS not found in satellite system running 4.6C kernel

    Hello.
I am trying to set up Change Request Management. However I am getting an error in /TMWFLOW/CHARMCHK, which is "System cancel RFC destination SM_DD1CLNT000_READ, Call TMW_GET_TARGET_SYSTEMS: Function module "TMW_GET_TARGET_SYSTEMS" not foun".
I have checked and that function module does not exist on the satelite system.
The satelite system is running 4.6C kernel and its Basis SP level is 52.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Reenal

    Hello Reenal,
It is a pre-requisite for using Change Management that your domain
controller for 46C Satellite systems is a system equal to or greater than
    610 release.
Only a domain link will not help in case of 46C systems. The domain
controller has to be a system 610 or above.

  • Monitoring a non-SAP satellite system in Solution Manager

    Hi Folks,
    I have two quick questions.
1.) What is the proper procedure/tool for monitoring a non-NW system in Solution Manager? Should I be able to use sapccmsr and saposcol on these systems?
2.)  What is the proper way to connect a non-NW system to the SLD? Should I be able to use saposol and sldreg for these?
    Background:
    - My Solution Manager system is a NW70 EHP1
    - Solution Manager Diagnostics is installed and monitoring my ABAP and Java systems
    - I have my CCMS agents registered back to my CEN for the ABAP and Java systems
    Satellite systems:
    - Multiple Wintel servers (both IA32 and x64) that are running;
      o standalone SQL server databases
      o BOE/BOBJ
      o BPC for Microsoft
Section 4.8 of the Monitoring Setup Guide (CEN SAP Netweaver 7.0 SPS18) states that I should be able to monitor a standalone database.
My confusion isu2026 in the absence of an SAP filesystem (kernel) and the standard SAP environment variables that get set during an install, how do I register the agents? The executables do not want to launch.
    Thank you,
    Bill

    Dear William,
Monitoring of NON-SAP systems is not actually done on the solution manager system itself. The solution manager system gets its feed of alert information from the satellite, specifically CCMS. For SAP systems, alerts from CCMS are set up and activated by default. For Third-Party systems you have to be ablke to set up the interface to feed monitoring information from your non-SAP software to SAP's CCMS infrastructure.
You can get more information on CCMS agents via the website at http://service.sap.com/monitoring.
Go to "system Monitoring and Alert Management" > "Monitoring in Detail".
I hope this information is helpful.

  • Accessing the service desk message from satellite system

    gurus  ,
after creating a creating a service desk message to solution manager system via HELP->CREATE SUPPORT MESSAGE ,
how does the message creator from satellite system will view/change the message created by them at late point of time ?

    Susin,
the problem is a commonly asked one that I get when I present the Solution Manager to customers. There is always the question: How can the user see the status of the ticket?
From my point of view you can give them access to the worklist but I guess it is really a pain for the user to log on to SolMan and to access the information from there through a complex transaction.
Alternatively to provide the user with access to the ticket system, you could consider sending out an email on (all or only critical) status changes from the system bei assigning an activity to the status change. That might be much easier for the user (and for you).
After looking at and working with work centres I think it would be worth to install the neccesary patch level. It is really beneficial, for the user reporting a problem, as well as for your help desk monitoring their issues.
Since it is a very common question, and Ruediger seems to be close to the source, can you (Ruediger) maybe provide some information how SAP is going to handle that in the future? Is SAP purely focussing on the work centers in Solution Manager, or is SAP planning on a track & trace possibility within the satellite system for the users?
I guess there is no easy solution to your problem, but maybe I was able to provide some ideas how to provide more funtionality.
    Cheers

    Hi All,
I have configured service desk in solution manager. I am able to create message from satellite system (Help->create support message). But i am not able to figure it out, how to check the status of my message from the satellite system (i.e. any transaction code is there).

See some general information on Work Center here
[SAP Support Portal - Work Center|http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000707406&]
    It's available as of ST 400 SP15.
Run transaction solman_workcenter to access Work Center.
Required configuration steps are documented in IMG (transaction spro). See activities under node "Cross-Scenario Settings -> Work Center"
See also section "Work Center Navigation Roles" in Security Guide.

  • Configuration in Solman and Satellite system for Support message creation ?

    Hi ,
I want to send a support message to solman from the ( help menu -> create support message )
    of my satellite system.
any one tell me the settings that i have to make in both the sattelite system and the solman  for sending a support message.

    Hi,
the necessary steps are described in Solution Manager IMG documentation.
Also you can find that information in the web blogs in this forum.
    In a nutshell:
    - activate Service Desk in Solution Manager (incl. BC-Sets)
    - maintain System Landscape, RFCs and iBase
    - create key users (business partners)
    - maintain number ranges
    - assign roles
    - maintain table BCOS_CUST in satellite system
You should just follow the corresponding customizing steps in tx: SPRO.

  • Early watch alert task not created in SDCCN in satellite system

    Hello Everyone,
I am trying to configure EWA in solution manger 7.0 ehp1. I have added the system in SMSY, created RFC SM_SIDCLNTXXX_READ and SM_SIDCLNTXXX_TRUSTED in solution manger and also created RFC SM_SIDCLNTXXX_TRUSTED and SM_SIDCLNTXXX_BACK in satellite system sucessfully.
The Early watch Alert in TA DSWP is showing me a red flag. The job  /BDL/TASK_PROCESSOR in satellite system is being sucessfully finished.
The problem I am facing is I cannot find task Early watch Alert in SDCCN in my satellite system and can not create other RFC such as SAPOSS and SDCC_OSS
Could anyone please suggest how should i go about it?
Component version of my satellite system is
    ST-A/PI - 01M_SCM570
    ST-PI - 2005_1_700  00003

    Hello Sohrab
    1) The SDCCN task logs will be on the Done tab - You can also check the logs in SLG1 at the time, there could be more information there.
Typically the refresh definitions will have nothing, except when there are updates, so it is not unusual to see no updates here each time the task runs. If there are service sessions the maintains package should pick them up with refresh service task.
Is the SM_<SID>CLNT<nnn>_BACK RFC set as the master in SDCCN?
One test you can make is create a Refresh session task on the satellite. This is the task that the Maint. Package should run.
It will just be easier for testing. If the refresh session task does not create any EWA tasks for the service sessions outstanding, then there is a configuration issue.
If it works, then the Maintenance task is failing before it can shcedule the  refresh session task.
I realize I haven't offered a solution, but a way of finding out where it is failing. Once we isolate where it is failing, we reduce the possibilities of what it could be, and we should be left with the solution.
So forget the Maintenace Package for Now. Lets see if you can pull the service sessions with a Refresh Session Task.
You know in the SDCCN task logs errors in the logs are prefaced by what looks like a yellow lightening bolt.
So if you see these in any of the logs, you are encountering an error, and you should copy it here.
Hope this helps to move you forward.

  • Updating satellite system data after Upgrade in Solman

    Hi All,
We are using solman 7.01 connected to BI 7.0 system as it's satellite system, We have recently Upgrade our BI system to BI 7.01 version but we do not see its updated version in solman system.
We checked in SMSY it is still showing BI 7.0, we have also done option " Read data from system " but it did not work.
Please suggest to Update my system data in solman.

    Hi Shivam Mittal
When you clicked in "Read system Data Remote", were the information returned with success in the logs ?
Usually the informations aren't pushed because the READ Rfc's are failing.
If you run job LANDSCAPE FETCH, the information are being collected correctly ?

Thaks for your suggestions. I chcked the note 182020, but the issue described in the note is for error byte code adapter installation whcih is not my case. The byte cde adapter intallation has been successful in our solman system All the steps from 1 to 9 are green. Only in step 10, check cniguration I am getting the above error.
The logon test wth the user id in step 3 "Enter system parameters" is successful. The message server port is also correct.

  • System profiler "information is not available" for PCI cards

After swapping two cards in their slots, I get the message system profiler "information is not available" for all PCI cards. Mac Pro 4 core 2.66, OS X 4.11 server. The cards are still working. I tried clearing PRAM, etc. Is this a hardware problem or just system profiler being difficult? Is there any way to tell?

That is a bit odd. Maybe try forcing kextd to run can resolve. You might be working off cached info and it is giving System Profiler a hard time. Run this command and then reboot:
    sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions
That will update the modify time of the Extensions folder and trick the system into thinking you installed new drivers. This will force an update of the kernel caches when you reboot.
Not sure it this will do it, but best I could think of.
    Hope it helps.

  • What is the best way to apply Support Pack Stacks among satellite systems

    Hi,
We have differenst systems liek R3, SCM,CRM,XI, BW  and EP. We would like to apply teh support pack stack 12.
Which land sacpe need to be applied with the stack first?
R3 or other satellite systems? Is there any recommendation available from SAP on this?
    Thanks in advance

Thanks for your reply Nick101. I see my example was oversimplified. When I say "multiple groups of contacts over multiple users" I'm really referring to N groups of contacts over N users.
So I need to add Fred, who can access and sync Bob's contacts, Sally's contacts, and Common contacts, as well as Fred's contacts. Can I do it with OS X server?
You mention you keep your and your partner's contacts administered locally. What keeps you from administering them through OS X server as well?
I am guessing this can all somehow be accomplished with multiple contact accounts, but I can't find any information on the web explicitly describing this.

  • Any performance impact on satellite systems?

    Hello,
Our productive solution manager are setup to connect to all the ECC, XI & R/3 systems, as central monitoring system.
So far we only use Solman for monitoring & EWA, not even BPM is configured yet.
in SMSY, it's configured to use our XI SLD, to auto collect all the database, server & system data for solman system landscape.
My question is: If there is downtime on Solman system, will it have any performance (slow transaction) on satellite system, especially on my XI system (as solman access the XI SLD).
The reason I post this question here is: recently we have downtime for solution manager due to SP upgrade, during the downtime, we noticed there are a lot (thousand) IDOCs processing messages to R/3 system stucks in XI for 1 of our application. Users starting to make complaints, and we try to find the root cause in XI, in R/3 ... involve our basis guy & also XI admins, but no one able to find why.
By the time PSM is up (after 2-3 hours), ALL the stuck messages in XI are manage to clear/process at once. And until now, on one able to explain why. They are suspecting my solution manager system downtime has the impact on those satellite system.
Solman is setup to use PXI's SLD.
Anyone has feedback on this, is it coincidently, or ?
Please share if you have knowledge on this topic
    Thank you

    Hi,
As per your description I would say it is pure coincidential.
When you configure Solution Manager for system monitoring and/or EWA, all Solution Manager does is to collect the relevant data from the sattelite systems. Just this.
So, when solution manager is not available there should be no reason for any impact on the sattelite systems side.
Also,  from your description, I would say your XI is getting SLD information from Solution Manager. This is the only reason I could figure out that IDOCs are getting stucked in XI.
Is it possibel to ask your XI guys to recheck which SLD XI is using?

  • Satellite Systems - How far back can SolMan 4.0 go ?

    Hi,
Can you please let me know the SAP Note which talks about the BASIS  Release requirements of Satellite Systems, in order for SolMan 4.0 to be connected to them ?
I came across SAP Note 661949 - Solution Manager Component systems with Basis Release 4.6B which mentions a few facts, but I am still not clear.
In other words, if someone would like to make use of SolMan to connect to very old SAP systems (3.1H or I for instance), is it still feasible? If so, does it go by Scenario of SolMan to be implemented.
Is it a case where, for Implementation Scenario, Basis Release 4.6B is required whereas for Service Desk, it can go lower (?)
Any pointers will be gratefully acknowledged.
    Thanks.
    Srini

    Hi Ruben,
Thanks for your reply. I was already in that section, somehow, this information was not very clear from Config Guides since it differed by Scenario.
It confirms the data I have tried to compile from a Config Guide PDF and SAP Note:
Satellite System's Requirements for Implementation scenario, using SolMan 4.0, as of SP15
    Satellite Systems (Basis Release)
    • 4.6C: SAP_BASIS and SAP_ABA: SP 56 (SP 58, if ChaRM is required)
    • 4.6D: SAP_BASIS and SAP_ABA: SP 29 (SP42, -
    • 6.10: SAP_BASIS and SAP_ABA: SP 18 (SP43,  -
    • 6.20: SAP_BASIS and SAP_ABA: SP 00 (SP51,  -
    • 6.40: SAP_BASIS and SAP_ABA: SP 00 (SP12,  -
    • 7.00: SAP_BASIS and SAP_ABA: SP 00 (SP06,  -
Also, for those with SolMan SP below 15, SAP Note 907768 mentions a few other SP levels required in Satellite Systems.
    Many thanks again.

  • Block direct logon to satellite system

    Dear friends,
I am working with Sol Man 4.0 SP12.
I have connected R/3 with Sol Man. The user ID has been created in Sol Man As well as in R/3. (In both the systems the user ID is same)
Now the user can logon to R/3 system via Sol Man (T-RFC role has been assigned to him).
But still the user is logging into R/3 system directly & performing the configurations. We want to block this option. Without Sol Man, he should not able to get into R/3 system.
One work around might be, change the password & do not inform to the user.
But for our case, we having about 185 consultants to do the configuration.
If i lock the user ID in R/3, i can not logon through Sol Man also. So this option is invalid.
If i maintain him as "Service" user also, he can directly logon to R/3. So this option also invalid
If any other work around is available please guide me.
    Regards
    Senthil

    Dear Senthil,
Your question is more from an Process point of view rather than Solution Manager.
I assume that you are using Solution Manager to implement your SAP solution.
There are 2 possibilities here :
    1. Roll out an standard process for all the 185 consultants working with you and strictly instruct to perform the configuration using the Solman route. In case of violations lock the userid's and get your senior mangement involved.
    2. Start using Change management. If you activate change management then no one can create an transport request in the satellite systems without routing it via an change request in Solution Manager. This way even if the consultant logs in to satellite system his work is useless and he is forced to follow the Solman Route.
I hope that the above tips helps.
    Regards
    Amit
