Saving flash drawing as png image to database

Hey guys and girls,
i've seen a few good examples to save out a png of the current flash display area from a webbrowser from a flash, such as:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/saving_flash_graphics.html
http://activeden.net/item/logo-maker-image-editor/99565
http://www.flepstudio.org/forum/tutorials/507-swf-png-actionscript-3-0-bytearray-class.htm l
what they normally do is stream the image data through a png encoder to a web server somewhere and then decode the image data back to current webbrowser and then trigger the web browser SAVE function, by prompting user to select a path and file name to save, like a download.
What I’m trying to do is very similar, however, the difference is when you click that save button, you can save your png image directly to a certain location with a fixed file name, such as on your local computer:
D:\flashimage\001.png
or on a file server: 10.21.111.111\flash_image\001.png
so i cant find the syntax here. can anyone give me some hints on this? thanks ahead!

the user.
Thanks for replying.

  • Load PNG Images and draw on them.

    I have to load a png image in a JPanel and then draw on this image. How is the way to do it? I've tried several ways but I don't achieve nothing.

    ...I guess the conclusion is even though you can use PL/SQL to get the
    PNG images into the database - like we've done here. There is no real
    point, because one cannot retieve them with standard Java Intermedia
    calls.

    On the contrary - I just grabbed a PNG image from our 9i test system, uploaded it using the photo album servlet demo to my 8.1.7 database (which doesn't 'do' PNG) and retrieved it using the same servlet. My Netscape came with the QuickTime Plugin, so the PNG image got displayed as would any other image.
    OK, I admit I had to admit modify the demo a little, but it is just a sample after all, not a full-blown, production web application. For upload, all I had to do was trap the exception raised when it tries to create the thumb-nail. There were 2 changes for retrieval. For the thumb-nail page, if there isn't a thumb-nail, ie getContentLength() == 0, then it displays the text "[view image]" instead of the thumb0nail image. For the full-size page, it only generates the height and width tags if getHeight() and getWidth() both return non-0 values. I didn't have to modify the method that actually delivers the data at all. It just uses the BLOB, MIME type and content length (which you sent when you loaded the image, right?!). The height and width tags aren't required. They just speed things up if present, because the browser knows ahead of time how much space to reserve, so can keep rendering the page, rather than wait for the image to arrive.

  • Saving png images at 72 pixels resolution

    Hi,
    I have been creating images for our Flash designer, saving them in Fireworks as png images. We recently discovered that they are being saved at 71.89 pixles resolution, while in the Flash they need to be 72 pixels. To solve this problem the designer has to open the pngs in Photoshop and resave them as a png, which is a problem.
    Is this difference in resolution due to both PhotoShop and Fireworks being different products and originally from different companys, or due to me working on a PC and our Flash designer working on a Mac.
    Can I set Fireworks to save pngs by default at 72 pixles resolution so any further images I create work in our Flash movie?
    Stephen

    Hi,
    I've just found out that the Flash designer is using Virtual Desktop on their mac, and doing their development in the virtual pc enviroment. Not sure if the Mac way of interpreting image resolutions is 'passed' to the virtual PC?  My Fireworks is set up as 72 pixels/inches as the resolution so I think the mac/pc differences is still the cause of the problems.
    Thanks
    Stephen

  • Whenever I have a png image as the last saved filed in my camera roll, it overlaps a picture I've deleted a long time ago. What?

    Just as the title said. iPod touch 4th generation, 4.3.5, not jailbroken. Different png images have different, but specific to each image, pictures that they overlap. Could this be automatic inaccessable-file storing on that confusing extra space? I don't know. I just want them off there.

    ...In the meantime...
    If you can get one of these faulty pictures to display on your iPod Touch (that you don't mind sharing with us) take a screenshot of it. You may already know this, but to take a screenshot on your iPod Touch, press the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time. The screen should briefly flash white and a picture should be saved in the camera roll.
    To post that picture on this thread, once you have saved the picture onto your computer, simply click the camera icon at the menu bar that displays when you write a post and follow the prompt:
    and then perhaps someone may be able to throw some light on what's happening.
    Do you delete the pictures directly from the Camera Roll, or by using the file manager on your computer? I wonder if it's possible that a delete-on-iPod may not be doing the job properly.
    Usually, when I Sync my iPod, I delete the Camera Roll from the iPod using the computer.
    I have not seen any other posts on this issue, so I don't know if that's the problem, but at this time, I think you simply have to narrow down when and under what circumstances, this happens. Only then could anyone work out what the cause is.
    If I may offer you some advice of a personal nature for your future benefit:
    You're correct, I don't know the exact circumstances surrounding this or the other factors in your life, but neither I, nor anyone else here needs to. But the fact that you're able to afford - and have access to - an iPod makes your life better than many in the world.
    If you're seeking help or advice, in any sphere of your life, it's far more efficient to concentrate on the facts relevant to the issue than to attempt include into your narrative, any perceived slighting you may harbour or grievance you may have with other people. If you allow one person's effect on you to affect your judgemnent of other people, you will only make your own life more intolerable.

  • 16x16 png image looks blurry in flash mx at an integer x y position

    I have few small png images (16x16 px) when I place them on
    stage it shoudl look best when placed at an integer x and y
    position.
    e.g. x=100 and y=50
    But in MX it only looks clear when placed at an integer with
    .8.
    e.g x=100.8 and y=50.8.
    In MX 2004 and later it looks best at integer values on
    stage, as it should be. I didnt changed anything in the image
    properties (smooth, quality, etc).
    Is this a known Flash MX issue, any ideas?
    Thank you.

  • Using PNG image files in Flash

    Hi, I'm new to this forum, so I'm not sure whether my
    question is appropriate to be raised in here or not Any guidance
    would be appreciated.
    My Flash 8 document contains images files that are in PNG
    format (created on Adobe Photoshop CS2) and these image files DO
    NOT have background. As I launch the Flash Movie, I can vaguely see
    a background, which is same dimension of the entire image file,
    underneath the image and it kind of look akward. I have tried to
    add an extra background with the colour same as my Flash document
    background colour underneath the image but it woudn't solve the
    problem. On the contrary, this additional background is even more
    apparent.
    Any advice what I can do ?

    Yeah, this forum is entirely appropriate for your question.
    The problem is an old one with Flash. The reason you see the
    'ghosted'
    background in the alpha channel of your PNG is that you have
    your colour
    depth set to 16 bits. If you crank it up to 32 bits, the
    anomaly will
    disappear. Unfortunately there's not a great deal you can do
    about it,
    except to break apart the image and actually delete the parts
    you don;t want
    to be visible.

  • Saving images into database

    Hi All,
    I have a table with 3 BLOB columns to store images and a NUMBER type column to store the image id_no. I am using database 10g and Forms 6i
    My problem is I recently updated the database from 8i to 10g, and since then I am unable to update or insert the new images in these BLOB columns. When I update the existing image or insert new image record through forms, It does save the changes in existing or new record. But It does not show these images while query the record. and also does not give any error while executing the query in forms.
    But while trying to retrive the image from updated records or new record in reports, It throughs the error that image is format is unreadable or currupt.
    There wasn't any problem in 8i, i could update the record as many times I wanted or create as many records as needed.
    Is anybody have any clue about this problem! Any help in this regard will be highly appriciated.
    Thanking you and Best Regards.

    You should not save an image to database, since it'll make database slow, and difficult to write a web page to load image.
    Save an image to specific location, and save image location to database.
    Then, use <img> tag to call an image in web page.

  • Saving webcam images into database

    Hi,
    I have managed to acquire the image from my webcam through the vision acquisition software but now i faced a problem because i want the image to be stored in the database so that it could be view from a webpage( like a video stream).
    What i did in my vi was just take the image out and connected it directly to the database and data is going in the database but when i tried to display it on the webpage it does not show.
    Is it possible to do that and if so is there any tutorials i can refer to?
    Solved!

  • Exporting flash professional 5.5 image assets

    I am having some trouble exporting flash professional 5.5 image assets to pngs (or any other image format with an alpha channel).
    In Flash Professional 5.5, I bring up the library window, select one of the images, and then right click to select "Edit with Photoshop", which then opens the image in Photoshop. However, it also seems to replace the transparent alpha channel with a dark green (?). Without even saving the file in Photoshop, Flash Professional then shows the image with a dark green background too. I also tried exporting to Paint.net, but had the same problem.
    Anyone know how to export an image from a Flash Professional file into a more standard image format?

    Are you sure that you have the line smoothing option selected in the bottom of the tool bar? You might try re-installing the wacom driver, or delete the Flash preferences.

  • PNG images revive deleted images in the form of a thumbnail, potential risk

    Saving a PNG image will revive deleted photos. To replicate this, save a PNG image, such as the ones on XKCD's "What If?", and deleted images get revived in the form of a thumbnail overlapping the image.
    This has been here since IOS 5, according to http://appleinsider.com/articles/13/11/14/bug-resurrects-deleted-image-thumbnail s-in-ios-7-photos-app-dates-back-to-ios-5
    Knowledge of this could be abused. If I get free acess to someone else's Ipad, I can just spam saving PNG images over and over to see their sensitive images saved as a thumbnail overlapping the PNG image's thumbnail.
    How do I delete the thumbnails? It seems that when you delete a photo, it saves the thumbnail. This is supported by the PNG images reviving deleted photos in the form of thumbnails.

  • Safari on iphone won't render cgi generated png images with query strings

    I've got a cgi app functioning as a web service that generates png images and serves them up as part of another app which marshals them up in HTML.
    Here's the image stand alone:
    http://cybre.net/maps/mapgen.pl.png?WIDTH=1024&HEIGHT=768
    and here's how I marshal it:
    <IMG CONTENTTYPE='image/png' SRC='http://cybre.net/maps/mapgen.pl.png?WIDTH=1024&HEIGHT=768'>
    It seems to work on firefox, epiphany and galeon web browsers for linux, and my windows friends say that internet explorer renders them okay as well.
    My only apple hardware is my iphone, and safari pretends that there is no content when it renders the HTML page. Safari on the iphone does not render even using a direct link.
    The png is generated by perl mapscript, $img = $map->draw;
    print "content-type: image/png\n\n";
    $img->write;
    close(STDOUT)
    On the previous version of the iphone firmware, and before i factored the image generation out into a web service, the iphone was able to render the png image successfully.
    Is this safari wierdness where it gets cranky that there is
    QUERY_STRING info after the .png? mapgen.pl.png?foo=bar ?
    If so, are other browsers just being hyper liberal in what they accept and safari is playing by the rules or is this a bug in safari?
    thanks in advance,
    -marc

    it turns out that safari's handling of png is broken, the problem reproduced on both iphone and mac safaris.
    in changing the format to gif, it all works okay.
    does apple allow mortals to file bugs against safari?

  • Firefox asks what to do with some PNG images instead of just displaying them

    Not sure what is going on here, but some PNG images seem to confuse Firefox, while others are fine. While some PNGs just display when clicked on (eg: when wanting to see a full size image from a thumbnail), others make Firefox ask what I want to do with it. When I select "Firefox 3.6.8" it ends with an error:
    /tmp/elementary_gtk_theme_by_DanRabbit-1.png could not be opened, because an unknown error occurred.
    Try saving to disk first and then opening the file.
    ... but when I manually made it open with "/usr/bin/firefox" (I'm in Ubuntu) the image opens fine. I was beginning to think this was now universal for PNGs, but I was opening offending ones from the same site, and going elsewhere showed that some PNGs will be displayed as usual. Does anyone have any idea why this would happen to some PNGs but not all? Here is a link to one of the problem PNGs:
    http://s.linux-mag.com/i/articles/7811/elementary_gtk_theme_by_DanRabbit.png
    It opens without issue in Opera. Hope someone can make sense of this. Cheers

  • Graphics, ImageIO, and 32-bit PNG images with alpha-channels

    I have a series of 32-bit PNG images, all with alpha channels. I'm using ImageIO.read(File) : BufferedImage to read the PNG image into memory.
    When I call graphics.drawImage( image, 0, 0, null ); I see the image drawn, however all semi-transparent pixels have a black background, only 100% transparent pixels in the source image are transparent in the drawn image.
    The Graphics2D instance I'm drawing to is obtained from a BufferStrategy instance (I'm painting onto an AWT Canvas).
    Here's my code:
    Loading the image:
    public static BufferedImage getEntityImage(String nom, String state) {
              if( _entityImages.containsKey(nom) ) return _entityImages.get( nom );
              String path = "Entities\\" + nom + "_" + state + ".png";
              try {
                   BufferedImage image = read( path );
                   if( image != null ) _entityImages.put( nom, image );
                   return image;
              } catch(IOException iex) {
                   iex.printStackTrace();
                   return null;
         private static BufferedImage read(String fileName) throws IOException {
              fileName = Program.contentPath + fileName;
              File file = new File( fileName );
              if( !file.exists() ) return null;
              return ImageIO.read( new File( fileName ) );
         }Using the image:
    Graphics2D g = (Graphics2D)_bs.getDrawGraphics();
    g.setRenderingHint( RenderingHints.KEY_ANTIALIASING , RenderingHints.VALUE_ANTIALIAS_ON);
    public @Override void render(RenderContext r) {
              Point p = r.v.translateWorldPointToViewportPoint( getLoc() );
              int rad = getRadius();
              int x = (int) p.x - (rad / 2);
              int y = (int) p.y - (rad / 2);
              BufferedImage image = Images.getEntityImage( getCls(), "F" );
              r.g.drawImage( image, x, y, null );
         }

    You may want to check on you system and see what ImageReaders are available, it could be ImageIO is just not picking the best one, if not, then you can use getImageReaders to get an iterator of image readers, then choose the more appropriate one.
