Saving Templates...favorites

One week into FCP and Motion. I have made much headway, but a couple of things I just cannot figure out.
ONE big one is how do I save effects or more importanty a chain of effects as a template or favorite?
Example...on text I put a glow and a particle. Say I want to do that easily in the future without remembering the customizing on both effects I did....how can i save that and apply the chain to text in the future?
I realize this is probably easy,....but not intuitive for me for some reason.
Thanks,
cc

Open a new project and drag your favourites folder in the effects tab into the browser and save.
Next time you need to restore or move to another machine, just open that project and move the favourite folder back to the effects tab.

  • ARD 3.3 and saved Templates

Is there any way to create an Applescript that can run saved Templates for a selected computer in ARD?
I have created many templates that I use for modifying a users account or home folder that use Copy and Send UNIX commands. As I build each of these individually and save them, there end up being a dozen that need to be run at the same time.
I would rather not have to rebuild each one of these in AppleScript.

You should be able to create an Automator workflow that would run successive AppleScripts or UNIX command/scripts. For an overview, see:

  • Changes in edited & saved template do not show up in page 2 or 3 of letter.

I am new to Pages '09. I chose a template for a "Traditional Letter". It immediately picked up my name (from the computer registration, I think), as the header read "Geraldine's Laptop Dwyer". I edited that to read, "Geraldine Dwyer", added my phone & fax numbers and my address at the bottom. Then I saved it to "My templates".
Next time I opened this template - those changes were saved and showed up, but when I wrote a letter and it spilled onto the second page - the original header created by the app. - "Geraldine Laptop Dwyer"is on the top of the second page (& 3rd and 4th pages too). How can I have "my" information on all the pages that I edit from an Apple template, or maybe I cannot?
    Geraldine Dwyer

    Geraldine,
There are some oddities in Pages' methods.
What you did was save the changed template which had been altered on the page but you also needed to "capture" and save the Layout or Section over the existing one in the document using the same name to replace it.
I will walk you through making your own version of a template.
1 Open a new document using the template you wish to customise.
2 Don't change anything yet, but open every section from the Sections pull down menu so you have a sequence of pages each with a page of a different section design.
3 Make Master Objects selectable if they are not.
Change each Section to your liking.
    4 +Menu > View > Page Thumbnails+
5 Select first Thumbnail in sidebar
+Menu > Format > Advanced > Capture Pages… > Name : Type exactly the same name as the section > It will ask you if you want to replace the existing section > Replace+
6 Repeat this for each section until you have replaced them all.
    7 +Menu > File > Save as Template… > Save with a New Name+
    8 +Menu > File > New from Templates > My Templates > Choose your New Name template+
You now have a document customised to your design.

  • How to delete saved templates in Illustrator CS4?

    Hello,
Inadvertently I created hundreds of documents that were saved as templates.  In addition I saved them as pdf's, which was the proper format I needed.
I have been unsuccessful in deleting the templates (which are no longer needed and taking up hard drive space) by either the delete key on the keyboard, dragging to the trash (Mac OS10.5), or from the File menu.
If anyone knows how to accomplish this, I would greatly appreciate the information.
    Thank you.
    Mort

    Mort,
I'm in CS3, so it may be different, but this might head you in the right direction:
My templates are in Macintosh HD>Applications>Adobe Illustrator CS3>Cool Extras>Templates. Follow the path, open the Templates folder and drag the ones you want to get rid of to the trash.
    Hope this helps.

  • Saving Template doesn't update pages

I just made changes to my template, saved it, and the connected pages are not updating. The FAQ say's to select the 'Update' button, which I can't seem to find.
    Any suggestions?

    File extension is .dwt
Not exactly sure of your 2nd question. I only have one web site I work with. I’m quite the novice. But I think the answer to your question is yes.
The .dwt file is located within my Templates folder of the site
    Thanks,

  • Saving Portal Favorites - Variables Not saved

    Hi
We upgraded our BI 7 last week to Support Pack 17.
Now, when we Save As to create a Favorite in the Portal, the new Favorite doesn't keep the values entered in the Variable Entry screen such as Profit Centre or Fiscal Period.
Changes made within the report, such as deleting unwanted columns, are retained in the Favorite after Saving As.
Old Favorites, created before the upgrade,  still display the values entered in the Variable Entry screen.  They still work.
    Any ideas ?
    John

    Hi John,
Implement the ABAP & Java correction mentioned in note 1273024. This should solve your issue.

  • IBooks Author not saving templates

I am not able to save an iBook Author file I am working on (.iba format) to an iBooks Author Template (.ibatemplate) via File > Save as Template. I can go in and change the extention and then see the file in the Template Chooser view, but this seems like an unusual hack AND I get no preview for the template.
    Anyone else experienceing this issue.
    I am on version 2.1.2 (462) on OSX 10.9.3.

The normal process involves saving so that your creation is saved to 'My Templates'. That assumes you want it to show in the template chooser.
I've never tweaked the file name suffix.

  • WWI/GLM Error when saving Templates to WWI

I have a question on the following error.. We only get this in our D01 system.
Now we thought this was a Windows issue on the WWI server and updated the WWI Dev Server with Window 2003 to match the Q01 and P01 servers, but still we are getting the following message.
We get this when we update the symbol, and then try to save the changes back to WWI.
    Error#1
Error occurred while saving the document template; save again
    Message no. CM_REPORT_TEMPLATE417
    Error#2
Error while checking in and storing: C:\Users\kmidcap\AppData\Local\Temp\lehslay0.WWI
    Message no. 26253
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Again, every other client works without issue.

    Hi Keith,
It sounds like you are getting these errors when editing templates in TR CG42 - is that correct?
If so, your error has nothing to do with the WWI Server - everything is happening on you local PC and SAP - no WWI Server is involved at this point in time.
Could you try out the following:
Do you get an error if you just check the document without saving?
What happens if you do not make any changes to the tempalte and just save the template?
Is that behavior occuring for all WWI templates or just a certain one?
    Kind Regards
    Mark

  • Authorizations element S_BDS_DS issue ~ saving in favorites

    Hello Experts,
I'm having some trouble setting up a authorization requirement, ~ the end user should not be allowed to save workbooks into his favorite folder.
The approach that i found that should be working is to restrict the element S_BDS_DS for display only (3), maybe to play around with the S_GUI, but I had little luck,
Even after deactivating both of the elements, the user had no problems saving the workbooks as favorites.
While tracing it with the ST01, the element seems to be "skipped?" the return code is 12 (no authorization) but the function is working without any errors.
Well the question now stands, how should be the restriction be done, and si actualy S_BDS_DS working at all ?
Thank you for any hints/help you can come up with!
    Best regards,
    Miro

    Hi Rahul,
Unfortunately I've checked the roles/user profile for consistency, and it seems that everything is fine, I'm not sure if there are some element's that would block the S_BDS_DS. (most probably not)
any further ideas would be appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Best regards,
    Miro

  • Saving template problem

All of sudden I'm having trouble saving files as a template.
It saves them as .dwt.asp even though i haven't set up a remote
    server. Anyone have any ideas?

This means that when you used FILE | New to create the page,
    you selected
ASP Javascript or ASP VBscript as your file type.

  • Saving Templates in BEx Web Application Designer ?

    Hello,
I have a big problem with the Web Application Designer (BI AddOn 7.X (based on 7.10), Support Package 2, Patch 1, Revision 359).
If I save a template, the result is often bad. Most of the settings get lost while saving!
Sometimes it saves two times correctly and at the third time 90 percent of the settings (like colors, appearance of tables) are gone!
Moreover it's sadly not possible to save the xhtml code itself (i.e. in a Word document) and put it back in if the settings are lost, because the Web Application Designer does not accept the belated inserted code.
    Thank you in advance!

  • Saving templates

I have created a template in pages on my iMac, but i can't find it on my MacBook. Are templates not saved in iCloud?

Custom tempaltes are saved on the computer. Open the template and save as a document. If you get it on the other computer through iCloud then Save as template.

  • Composed looks / Change the look themes are missing when creating site from saved template

    Hi,
I found an issue when save you own site template and then want to create a new site from that template the "Change the Look" themes are missing and if you go to site settings, Comosed looks where the themes are stored is empty! Anyone else has
the same experience? Any workaround for this?
    regards
    Martin

I've just seen this exact problem on a SharePoint 2013 farm as well this morning, but have managed to fix the blank "Composed Looks" list issue, although am still working on the "Change the look" wizard pages.
Edit: found a fix for this too now. See my next post below.
It appears that the process of saving a site as a template and then creating a new site from that template causes the original XsltListViewWebPart used to display the default view of the "Composed Looks" list, to be replaced with a ListViewWebPart,
    which appears to be broken.
Edit: have also seen this behaviour on sites created from the built-in templates but haven't determined exactly whether this is a bug. ULS logs never show any errors when this occurs so it appears to be "by-design". Ugh.
There may be a tidier way to fix this, but for now, I used SharePoint Designer 2013 to copy an XsltListViewWebPart from a working "Composed Looks" list, AllItems.aspx page and replaced the ListViewWebPart in the broken Composed Looks list, AllItems.aspx
page with it. There is also some additional post copy-paste tidy up to do on the pasted-in XsltListViewWebPart HTML to get it to work within the context of the site it is now in as it will contain GUIDs and URLs that are only relevant within the site
that you copied it from and these need to be replaced with the GUIDs/URLs from the replaced ListViewWebPart - paste it in a notepad session before deleting/overwriting it so you can grab those bits.
I'll write a more detailed step-by-step if anyone wants it, but this doesn't seem to fix the broken "Change the Look" wizard still, only the "Composed Looks" list default view. I'll look into that now and post back more complete solution if I can
    find a fix.
Edit: Found a fix. see my next post below.
Edit Edit: One more thing - on some Composed Looks lists we are seeing empty lists once the default view webPart is fixed up. To correct this, you can copy selected Composed Looks from a working site with a full set.
Before you do that, edit the default view in both the source and destination Composed Looks lists and include the Title field as it is a required field.
Then, you can use Datasheet View (just click the edit list link to put it in Datasheet View mode) to bulk copy/paste Composed Looks between the source and destination lists.
Do a little post-paste tidy up on the URLs as above to make sure that they are correct for their new location and then click on over to your Change the Look wizard.
You should see all of your Composed Looks displayed nicely on the page.
Note that the Current Look might not represent the sites actual appearance as it's settings will reflect the source sites appearance, but you can tweak it with the Wizard now.
    Regards,
    Glenn
