Scanning with F4100 Series.

I bought one of the all-in-one printers. Fax, Scan and Print from the Apple store in a local shopping centre, I'm not bothered about faxing, but about how to scan, as I can scan and copy, but I cannot scan into my mac.
Any tips?

  • Can't scan with new 1050

I have been scanning with Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 and a Lexmark all in one printer. The printer's printhead became blocked, and cost of fixing was too much, so I bought this HP printer. Installed it, and made it default. It prints and copies fine. When I tried to scan, Acrobat didn't know the HP was there, and looked for the Lexmark. When I plugged it into the Lexmark, it consistently crashed, whatever I tried. The only change is the new printer. Somehow its installation has made it impossible for me to scan at all, on either device. I'm at my wit's end. Please help. Thanks,Bob

Hi Bob,Acrobat Professional 8 only support Twain-Compliant devices, while the HP printer only support Apple's ICA compliant application. As a reference you may find the following article from Adobe:Acrobat has ICA support on MAC 10.7 for now with Acrobat XI onlyhttps://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/troubleshoot-scanning-problems-acrobat-8.html You may scan using Image Capture or the HP Scan application, then open / import the scanned file into Adobe. You may find the Scanning specifications listed below, a Twain-compliant software interface only available for Windows:http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Deskjet-1050-All-in-One-Printer-series---J4/4027462/model/4027464/document/c02063036/ You may find any steps to scan with your printer in the following link:http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Deskjet-1050-All-in-One-Printer-series---J4/4027462/model/4027464/document/c03548786/ Regards,Shlomi

  • Tiny rectangles showing as separate pages in multipage PDF scans with Image Capture?

I am having a scanning problem. I’d appreciate it if anyone could explain what’s happening and suggest how to avoid it or how to fix it after the fact. I’m using a large-format scanner, the HP Officejet 7610, with a MacBook Pro, running OS X Yosemite, v.10.10.1. I am using Apple’s Image Capture app, v.6.6, for scanning software. I am scanning some newspapers, with text and photos on the pages, which are about 11” x 14-3/4” in size. I am making multipage PDFs, each about 10 pp., at a resolution of 300 dpi. Sometimes, when I scan a single page or multiple pages, one or more tiny rectangles of scan show up in the resulting PDF, following a normal page or between pages. In the Acrobat Reader, this tiny rectangle shows up as a curious little box, much less than an inch on a side, and when the PDF is printed out, the tiny rectangle is printed, too, as though it were a separate page. Why is this rectangle showing up in my scans? Is there a way to keep from getting it? After it has been made a part of a multipage PDF, is there any way to get rid of it, keeping the rest of the scan?

Hey there @Rudyard , welcome back
I read through your post about the scanning issues you're having, and I'd like to help!
Please try scanning with the HP Scan software to see if the same quality problems happen, and if so, try these steps in order:
Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
    Repair disk permissions
    Restart the Mac
Install the full feature driver: HP Officejet 7610 Wide Format e-All-in-One series Full Feature Software and Drivers
Also install the Apple driver: HP Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X

  • How do I scan with my I phone4

How DI I scan with my iphone4?

    Hi rward88,
Assuming you have installed the drivers and are using the MP Navigator program to scan, it may be a simple setting within the application.
    Start MP Navigator EX.
    Click Preferences.
Click the General tab and select "XXX series Network" (where "XXX" is the model name) for Product Name.
If this didn't work, or if you have any other questions, please feel free to Contact Us!

  • Slooow scanning with CanoScan Lide 35

I've recently noticed a considerable speed drop when scanning with my CanoScan Lide 35. It's supposed to be USB 2.0 and when using system profiler it gives the speed at 480 Mbs, but it seems more like USB 1.1. when I'm scanning. It used to be much faster and the problem really started a short while back. Could it be caused by the Mac OS X 10.4.7 upgrade? I'm using Photoshop (9.0.1.) and CanoScan Toolbox when scanning. The scanner behaves the same whatever port I use. I've updated to the latest drivers. Anyone got a clue?
    PowerMac G5 1.8 Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I would prefer to see a backup routine, followed by erase and restore, then reapply the 10.4.7 update AND you may want to reinstall Canon drivers. You could just clone to another drive and boot from that. SuperDuper can be used in demo mode for a simple clone process.
MacFixit had a lengthy, in-depth series of 4? articles on preferences and plists and checking for corrupt prefs (I tend to rely on Applejack along with Preferential Treatment - there are also some other tools mentioned in the tutorial).
I have an MDD so I have added and tried a couple different USB2 controllers, and someone else mentioned that while the latest Sonnet Allegro USB2 is working fine for me (no issues, no problem with deep sleep etc) they were having a problem.
My own first recommendation with troubleshooting hardware is to always start up in Open Firmware and use the reset-nvram[/ib] command.

  • Scanning with external DMM with Agilent 34970A using Labview

    Hi,
I am a relatively inexperienced user of Labview. I have written a VI to
scan several channels on a 34970A using the 34901A multiplexer module
to take voltage readings. I want to use a more accurate DMM than the
internal one however so I have hooked up a Fluke 8840A to the agilent
and I want the scanner to simply switch between the channels while the
fluke actually takes the voltage measurements. How do I modify my
existing VI so that it uses an external DMM? One of the driver VI's is
'configure external instrument' which i assume is the obvious option
but i'm not sure where to insert this to modify the VI.
    Thanks
    Tom

What you do kind of depends on the capabilities of the external DMM and how fancy you want to get. If you at the section called 'Scanning With an External Instrument', you'll see how the connections can be made for an automatic scan. The 34970 will issue a trigger to the external instrument and when the measurement is complete, the instrument will send a signal back to the 34970 to close the next relay in the scan list. If you can do this, then the Conf Exteranl Instrument would replace the Conf Scan List and Conf Scan functions in the Advanced Scan Example. I'm not sure about the Conf Trigger but I suspect you would need to set slightly different parameters for that. The Read function would have to be replaced with a read of your external instrument. Some additional functionality may have to be added to take a reading after each relay closure if the DMM cannot save a series of measurements.
I had to once use an external instrument and didn't do any of this. The external instrument did not have external triggering or a an output that could be used to advance the scan so I just used the HP34970 Switch function to close a relay exclusively and a dmm read inside a for loop. I created an array of channels and the for loop auto-indexed them. This was simpler to program but the scan took a bit longer than what is described in the manual.

  • I can no longer print PDF files that were scanned with the very same MX479 on Windows XP, SP3

I can no longer print PDF files that were scanned with the very same MX479 All-in-One.
I have an (obsolete) Windows XP, SP3 computer.  Obviously, no updates from Microsoft
have occurred that might have impacted my Canon Pixma MX479.
When I attempt to send 1 or more pages from a PDF file to the printer, I don't even get the
Canon PIXMA popup that would allow me to cancel the print job.
Yet the Print Queue icon appears in the lower right corner of my monitor.
If I view the Print Queue, the print queue shows "spooling" and does nothing more.
If I attempt to CANCEL the print job in the Print Queue, it simply changes to "deleting -
    spooling".
I cannot cancel the print job that shows NOT RESPONDING via Task Manager, either.
In fact, the only way the Print Queue icon disappears is if I totally reboot my computer!
"Luckily", I can still print e-mails, Word documents, and even my downloaded PDF of my
    bank statement.
So, I was thinking that it was *only* PIXMA'S OWN SCANNED PDFS that could not be
printed ON THE SAME PIXMA 479.
However, I have since realized that I also cannot print USPS Signature Proof of Delivery
PDFs that I received from USPS via e-mail.
So why can I print *some* PDF files, but not *all* PDF files, like I previously could do?
THESE SCANS ARE OF LEGAL DOCUMENTS, SO I WILL LIKELY HAVE TO E-MAIL
THE REQUISITE, PREVIOUSLY SCANNED PDFS TO FEDEX TO PAY FOR *THEM*
    TO PRINT THEM.
NOTE: I *have* tried turning the PIXMA off, unplugging it, rebooting the computer, plugging
the PIXM in and restarting the PIXMA - still no ability to print PIXMA-scanned PDFs.
And, I find it very strange that e-mails, Word documents, and some other PDFs print with
no problem "around" "NOT RESPONDING" PIXMA print jobs.
I have owned Canon printers for years, including the MX420, and the MX340.

There may be some security issues related to the USPS PDFs.

I can't help with the scan/print problem. You seem to have done everything I would try.
I don't know if maybe using a registry cleaner would help.

  • Error: Could not continue scan with nolock due to data movement, DBCC proccache will clear the probelm

    SQL Server: 2008 R2 SP2
Before describing my problem, I have gone via the forum, there is no view or functions inside my stored procedure
When running a particular stored procedure inside crystal report, the error " Could not continue scan with nolock due to data movement" comes once every few weeks. After I clear the query cache plan, it works again for few weeks and the problem
comes again. During these few weeks, there is no restart or query plan clearing.
If I run the stored procedure inside SSMS, where the SQL statement is copied and pasted from SQL profiler during crystal report run, there is no error.
I discovered running in SSMS and crystal report generate 2 different query plans even I copied the SQL from SQL profiler, I have actually saved the query plans. Unfortunately, this forum does not accept attachments, or otherwise I will post my query plans
    here.
There is one thing I notice about the query plan is during nested loop operation, there is a warning "no join predicate". I don't use any views or UDF in the statement, nor did I use pre-1992 ANSI join syntax. However, I did use table variables.
My guess is whether this will cause " Could not continue scan with nolock due to data movement", after I clear the cache, I run crystal report again, and I look at the plan again, the "nested loop no join predicate" warning is gone.
Running this stored procedure took 1 second maximum, even when this error is popping up, it pop up within 1 second.
    DBCC checkdb has been run
The same stored procedure running by crystal report in a SQL 2008 (non r2) live environment has no problems, so I am thinking this is R2 specific problems.
The "nested loop no join predicate" error SQL statment is below, no views, no udf, but table variables
    INSERT @ChequeAccount
    SELECT        PS.PaySummaryID, PS.EmployeeID, PS.CostCentreID,
                (PS.GrossPay    + PS.LumpSumA + PS.LumpSumB    + PS.LumpSumD+ PS.LumpSumE+ PS.ETP+ PS.PaymentsAfterTax    - PS.DeductionsAfterTax
     - PS.Tax- PS.ETPTax    + PS.TaxRebate) * -1 AS Amount,
                CGLM.GLAccountID
    FROM Pay_Summary PS JOIN Input_Sheet ISH ON PS.InputSheetID = ISH.InputSheetID  AND  ISH.PayrollID = @binPayrollID
AND PS.PaySummaryID NOT IN (SELECT PaySummaryID FROM @ChequeAccount)
    JOIN Payroll P ON P.PayrollID = ISH.PayrollID AND P.EmployerID = @binEmployerID
JOIN CustomGLFixMapping CGLM ON CGLM.EmployerID = P.EmployerID AND CustomGLFixMappingNameID = 1 AND CGLM.CostCentreID IS NULL

The error Could not continue scan with nolock due to data movement can occur when you use the NOLOCK table hint, or use the command SET TRANSACTION ISOLATION LEVEL READ UNCOMMITTED. That is, so-called dirty reads. The error is not related to the
query plan per se, but when scanning a table, the storage engine will use an IAM scan rather than following the clustered index. If there is simultaneous activity, the storage engine may detect this and abort the operation to avoid returning incorrect data.
Or it may not detect it, and return uncommitted data or fail to return committed data.
All of these effects are transitory and they will not show up when you are alone on the system, only when there is concurrent activity in one or more of the tables in the query.
Using dirty reads is a risky business for the reasons explained above, and it takes careful analysis to understand whether you can live with the errors you can get from a particular query. The error about data movement can be handled: trap the error and
resubmit the query. But what about spurious incorrect results?
If you believe locking to be a problem, you should consider setting the database to READ_COMMITTED_SNAPSHOT
and take out all use of READ UNCOMMITTED/NOLOCK. When the database is in READ_COMMITTED_SNAPSHOT, readers read from the snapshot and only see committed data without blocking writers. This has some other effects like requiring a bigger tempdb,
and there is a risk for other types of concurrency errors, but they tend to be smaller risks.
I discovered running in SSMS and crystal report generate 2 different query plans even I copied the SQL from SQL profiler,
This is because SSMS by default runs with SET ARITHABORT ON. I discuss this in more detail in this article on my web site:
    http://www.sommarskog.se/query-plan-mysteries.html
However, as I said, this problem is not related to the query plan as such, although some query plans are more susceptible to this error than others. (All plans are suscpeitble to produce incorrect results).
