  • SCCM 2007 Distribution Point Share on a Failover Clustered File Server.

Is SCCM 2007 Distribution Point Share supported on a Windows 2008 R2 Failover Clustered File Server? I can get the packages to copy to the DP Share. But if I create them on a non clustered server it works fine. Are there any special settings that need top
    be configured for clustered shares?
    Thanks,
    Steve
    Steve

    Hi Steve,
As far as I know this scenario is not supported scenario, In Windows Server® 2008 R2, the Cluster Shared Volumes feature included in failover clustering is only supported for
use with the Hyper-V server role.
The creation, reproduction, and storage of files on Cluster Shared Volumes that were not created for the Hyper-V role, including any user or application data stored under the
ClusterStorage folder of the system drive on every node, are not supported and may result in unpredictable behavior, including data corruption or data loss on these shared volumes. Only files that are created for the Hyper-V role can be stored on Cluster Shared
Volumes. An example of a file type that is created for the Hyper-V role is a Virtual Hard Disk (VHD) file.

  • SCCM 2007 PXE point role uninstallation

    Hi Friends,
I am working on dead line and I have found a solution on forums for PXE boot problems I want to try uninstall WDS and uninstall PXE role unfortunately I did not find any thing which makes sense to me on forums . Can anyone help me to get through the way...?
     Appreciate quick response.
    Many thanks..
    Mo

None of these answer have helped. I have read that same TechNet article too many times over.
I removed PXE service point in configmgr, and awaited a successful uninstall message in PXEsetup.log
Never showed, I've tried everything to get a succssessful uninstall but there is so little information outside of the unhelpful information in this question and the TechNet articles.
Is there a way to rekick off the uninstall? Originally the logs on the parent site server indicated that it would reattempt an uninstall after 60 minutes. However that message is gone after a few days of waiting and now it only gives the error that PXE is
not responding, even though the role is no longer defined in SCCM.
Bottum line I need a sure fire fix to remove PXE.

  • Sccm 2007 Management 6 - Deployments that contain an update list comes up blank.

    Hi Guys,
I'm not sure what's going on completely here.  I'm trying to do my compliancy report for the month using the update list that was deployed for all servers.  I'm using the correct list, but when I run the report, it comes up with nothing found.
I know the list has updates in it, I checked.  I had been periodically checking my patch groups throughout the month, but this is the first time for this batch that I've tried to check the overall compliancy for the month.  Why would it come
back empty or better yet, how do I fix it?  I want to make note that while I'm not sure it has direct correlation, you guys would know better than I, I replaced one of our much smaller facilities DP within the last week and a half.  Removing the
old one didn't go very smooth and trying to update it has been problematic.  I created a new deployment package and that seems to update to all DP's (with the new one included) just fine.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

Not exactly sure what you are describing here, but a few notes that may help:
    - Update lists are not deployed and are in no way referenced by deployments. The updates from a list can be referenced in a deployment, but there is never any link between the deployment and the list. Thus, if you add an update to a list, there's is no resulting
    change in any deployment.
    - Updates in packages and package updates do not have anything to do with clients. Similar to the above, there is no link between deployments and packages. Deployments simply assign updates to clients and clients are free to download the update from any
    available package.
Thus, the first step is to verify the updates in the list you are concerned with are even in a deployment.

  • "Enable distribution-point sharing for this source site" did not showing SCCM 2007 DPs as SCCM 2012 content shares for CM12 clients

    Hi
We have one central site server and three primary site servers in SCCM 2007 and completed the SCCM 2012 migration as single hierarchy.
During the migration, We have configured SCCM 2007 Central site server as source hierarchy for data gathering process and configured the "Enable distribution-point sharing for this source site" to make SCCM 2007 distribution points
as SCCM 2012 content shares to serve SCCM 2012 migrated clients. Now we are facing a problem that one of the primary site server's data gathering process did not gather SCCM 2007 DPs even though we configured "Enable distribution-point sharing for this
source site" but data gathering process is completing successfully.
Is anyone have idea, why these SCCM 2007 DPs did not appearing as SCCM 2012 content shares under "Shared Distribution Points"
    Thanks in Advance
    srkr

Now we are facing a problem that one of the primary site server's data gathering process did not gather SCCM 2007 DPs even though we configured "Enable distribution-point sharing for this source
site" but data gathering process is completing successfully.
Earlier all the shared DPs are showing under  Shared Distribution Points ? Or since starting itself these DPs are not showing down? Have you checked migmctrl.log for some clue?

  • SCCM 2012 and SCCM 2007 Shared Distribution Points

I am building a new SCCM 2012 site (primary and 4 secondaries) besides a SCCM 2007 site (primary, 3 secondaries and 65 DPs).
I migrated all objects from SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012 which worked well.
I migrated a client from SCCM 2007 to my SCCM 2012 environment and that worked well. Then i push some packages from SCCM 2012 to my migrated client which worked as well either.
Then I switch on the SHARED DISTRIBUTION option in the migration section and now my migrated SCCM 2012 client only can access the SCCM 2007 DPs and packages from SCCM 2012 DP can't be accessed anymore...in Software Center the packages will stay at 0% downloading....
Is that normal behavior after enabling shared DPs ?

Did you ever find a solution for this? I am experiencing the same issue.
I have an IP address range boundary for testing SCCM 2012. After enabling shared distribution option SCCM 2012 migrated boundaries from SCCM 2007. My test IP address range boundary has two boundary groups... One is the SCCM 2012 Boundary group
pointing towards the SCCM 2012 DPs. The 2nd is the automatically created "Boundary Group for SCCM 2007 distribution point."
With both of those in there I can only push SCCM 2007 packages to the SCCM 2012 clients. SCCM 2012 packages come back in the logs as "Calling back with empty distribution points list." If I remove the automatically created "Boundary Group for SCCM 2007 distribution
point" from the test IP boundary then SCCM 2012 clients will properly download from the SCCM 2012 DPs, but now the SCCM 2007 packages fail to download to the SCCM 2012 test clients.
I assume I have some kind of boundary issue but am at a loss of resolving it. Either that or I have the shared dp concept down incorrectly. Shouldn't I be able to have a boundary that has SCCM 2012 clients that uses the 2012 DP for 2012 content but the 2007
DP for 2007 content while I am migrating?
    Thanks for any help

  • How manually remove a DP in SCCM 2007 ?

    Hello,
we had a disaster and our old SCCM 2007 site server is dead.
We already have a SCCM 2012 site server up and running and a old SCCM 2007 distribution point still up.
we need to convert the old DP to a 2012 DP.
How can i manually remove the DP from SCCM 2007 without an access to the console, site server, bd, etc...?
On the DP, Can I just remove all the share and permission?
    thanks

If you don't use the 2007 environment any more you can delete the old shares and folders.

  • Distribution-Point sharing (SCCM 2007 - SCCM 2012)

I've some problems by gathering data from a SCCM 2007 Hierarchy, into the SCCM 2012 environment.

    Hi,
1.Please examine reports “All active package distributions” on SCCM 2007 to check whether have package is currently being installed or removed. Then refresh all DPs on SCCM 2007.
After completing these actions above, try to re-gather data.
2.If fail, please check the transaction log both on SCCM 2012 and SCCM 2007 SQL Server. Then, a SQL engineer should be involved in this case.(This forum do not support database issue)

  • Cleanup disk space on SCCM Management point server

    Hi all
I have a SCCM 2007 infrastructure with 1 primary site and three secondary sites.
The disk data D of a sccm management point of one secondary site is full.
Is it possible cleanup data from a sccm tool??
    Regards
    Christian

if you have other drives with enough space, you can create no_sms_on_drive.SMS and place it on the root folder to avoid storing the packages.

  • Change "Update distribution points on a schedule" in SCCM 2007 via powershell script

    Hi
I would like to change the Custom Schedule start time in the "Update distribution points on a schedule" on a package in SCCM 2007 with out logging into the SCCM console.
I have following line code to query the package.
    Get-WmiObject
    -Namespace
    "Root\SMS\Site_$sitecode"
    -Query
    "SELECT * FROM SMS_PackageBaseclass WHERE PackageID='$PackageID'"
    -ComputerName $ServerName
The problem is I only get the "SourceDate" and "LastRefreshedTime" from the query. I am not sure if I change the "LastRefreshTime" that it would change the start time in the Custom Schedule

    Hi Jason
I progressed a little bit with you help. I now have the following bit of code.
    $Package = Get-WmiObject  -class SMS_Package -Namespace "Root\SMS\Site_$sitecode" -Filter "PackageID='$PackageID'" -ComputerName $ServerName
    $RefreshPkg = $Package.RefreshSchedule()
    $RefreshPkg.RefreshSchedule
    I get the following error:
Method invocation failed because [System.Management.ManagementObject] doesn't contain a method named 'RefreshSchedule'.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 - Management Point deployment to untrusted domain

    Hi all,
we've got two domains in our environment which have no trust relationship. I have sccm 2012 r2 installed on a Windows 2012 R2 server in the larger domain
and have just installed a DP and MP on a Windows 2008 R2 server in the second, smaller domain. The Management Point installed ok according to mpmsi.log but the problem i'm having is that the mpcontrol.log is now repeatedly throwing up the following message:
Call to HttpSendRequestSync failed for port 80 with status code 500, text:Internal Server Error
On the dp/mp server in the smaller domain i can browse to http://sccm-dp1/ ok. I can also browse to http://sccm-dp1/sms_mp/.sms_aut?MPCert ok. I cannot
browse to http://sccm-dp1/sms_mp/.sms_aut?MPList (receive a HTTP 500 error).
In additon to this, every now and again the MP tries to connect to the SQL DB in the other domain. This fails with the following errors:

Can anyone provide any suggestions as to where i should begin troubleshooting this issue? When i deployed the MP to the smaller domain i ensured it
had a Management Point Connection Account which could access the SQL DB in the larger domain. I'm wondering if the two error messages i'm receiving are related or whether i have two separate issues here?
    Thanks for the help!

    Hi Paul,
thanks for taking the time to help. I registered asp.net v4 with IIS as per your suggestion, unfortunately it hasn't made much difference and i'm still seeing the "Call
to HttpSendRequestSync failed for port 80 with status code 500, text:Internal Server Error"
message repeating in mpcontrol.log. Have you got any further suggestions of things
to try? Seems like an error message i really need to fix!
As far as the MP to SQL issue goes, the network team assured me the connection is allowed
but i might get them to double check this just in case.
    Thanks

  • SCCM 2007 R2: PXE Service Point Properties: Database Account

    Got the following constellation:
    Site Server: SRV01 (W2K8 / SCCM 2007 R2)
    SQL Server: SRV02 (W2K8 / SQL 2008 )
    Deploy Server: SRV03 (W2K8)
Basic Installation worked. Now I try to install DP and PXE Role on SRV03. All servers are member of each other's local admin group (all servers are running in one domain).
I installed WDS on SRV03. Everything's fine. After that I configured PXE role on SRV01 for SRV03 (configured nothing special in this area) WDS stopped on SRV03. After defining a PXE service point's computer account (a domain admin account that is also member of the local admin group of each server) in SCCM admin console on SRV01 for thePXE Role on SRV03 the WDS service on SRV03 able to start.
Looking at SQL Server during my tests I can see that the server account of SRV03 was properly added to the SMS DB with expected PSP_Role.
What is the reason that I'm not able to get the WDS service started on SRV03 without a special PXE service point account?
Thanks in advance for any idea.
    Alex

I'm having the same issue, same kind of setup and error in my logs. I'm not able to kickstart the WDS Service of my DP with the computer account. However, if I use the ConfigMgr account it works without any problem. There is no indication that there is
an issue with the computer account's permissions.
I did activate Verbose logging on the DP and when trying to start WDS Service I get the following:

  • Internet based management of SCCM clients and management points ?

We have an SCCM backend infrastructure which is used to manage what is in affect multiple external organizations over the internet.  Currently each SCCM client is managed by the primary server directly over the internet.
Am I right that we could place a configmgr management point on the internal networks and for the clients to talk to this server when connected to the company network instead of all clients getting patched across the internet connection ?  Meaning that
just the MP would communicate with our backend infrastructure ?

So your internal clients are now connecting over the internet to the local MP? How does this setup look like exactly? How were the clients installed (parameters)?
