SCXI-1200 ... Win2000 ... LabView 5.1 ... which NI-DAQ driver

Hello
we have a good running LabView program working on an old PC-system (Win-NT,
LabView 5.1 with NI-DAQ 6.1) together with or hardware,
a SXCI-2000 chassis with SCXI-1200 DAQ, and two multiplexers SCXI-1122 and
SCXI-1100.
Now we need a backup of our computer, but who will install Win-NT
I have learned that WinXP is not possible, thus we want to install Win2000.
We have tried a couple of things but didn't find an acceptable solution. We don't
know which NI-DAQ driver is necessary and what to do that our system works.
Who can help?
Thanks
Wolfgang Krüll

Hi Wolfgang,
Actually, the SCXI-1200 is not supported in Windows XP or 2000 by any of our drivers.  As one of our legacy boards, it is only supported under previous versions of Windows, such as the NT version used on your old system.  If you cannot use an older version of Windows, your best option will be to upgrade to hardware that works with Windows 2000.  See NI-DAQ Driver Support for more information.
If you are interested in upgrading your hardware and would like some suggestions, post back with some more information about the system and specs that you need.
Thanks,
Justin M.

  • LabVIEW can't find NI-DAQ driver (error 10240).

NI-DAQ is installed, and all the tests in the configuration utility work
fine with the PCI 1200 card. I can see a sine wave from a function
generator, so NI-DAQ works. But no DAQ VIs run, neither the examples
included with LabVIEW nor test programs I've written myself. Error message
10240 is always displayed: "NI-DAQ: LV can't find NI-DAQ driver."
I am working with an older setup, trying to recover an experiment from years
    ago. It's a Power Macintosh 7500 with a 100MHz 601 processor and a PCI 1200
DAQ card. LabVIEW 4.0 installed. I've tried downloading several versions
of NI-DAQ from the NI site, but I can't find any support for LabVIEW 4.0.
Currently NI-DAQ 6.6.1 is installed, the version recommen
    ded on the site for
    Power Macs.
Does this version of NI-DAQ not work with LabVIEW 4.0? If not, what version
of NI-DAQ will work? Is there some way to tell LabVIEW where the NI-DAQ
    driver is?
Upgrading LabVIEW or the hardware is a last resort. I just want to get this
experiment running as soon as possible.
My email address is [email protected]

Thanks. But the version of NI-DAQ that was installed when I wrote the email
was NI-DAQ 6.6, and still the error message appeared. I've since pulled the
card and put it into a PC with a more recent version of Lab VIEW and it
    works.

  • Inability to install SCXI 1200 in Windows XP

I am trying to use some older NI hardware (SCXI 1000 chassis with SCXI 1200 connected to a parrallel port), and windows XP is unable to detect the hardware. I tried following the SCXI 1200 support pages, but when I enter the add new hardware wizard the 1200 module does not show up. There is a header titled Data Acquisition Devices, but I cannot find any SCXI modules. Are there additional drivers that I have to install for XP? I realize that the equipment is quite old, but I am trying to make everything work without breaking my budget buying new stuff.

    Hi,
Unfortunately, the SCXI 1200 will not work with Windows XP. The data acquisition drivers that are required to use this legacy device are not updated for the Windows XP Operating System. I highly recommend upgrading to newer hardware which will allow you to use the newer DAQmx driver and the Windows XP operating system.

  • Accessing DAQ-Card 1200 in LabVIEW?

I configured Daq-Card 1200 in MAX, set the input and output values and so on. How can I now access the card in LabVIEW. Should there be maid any additional configuring under LabVIEW since first time I set up in and out values in MAX there was a place I could set different values to different channels but this time the configuration window lacked many things it used to have.

When you configure the device in MAX, MAX assigns Device Number to the DAQ Cards starting with 1.
In labview you can open up DAQ example and run it by specifying correct device number and channel number from which you want to acquire data. You do not need special configuration in labview.
    Hope this helps

  • Can I use a DAQ PCI-1200 with Labview 5.0.1?

I have a Labview 5.0.1 software, and I want to use PCI-1200 with it. Can I do that? My OS is Windows XP, but I can change it with Windows98/2000.

    Hello jhylee,
The latest NI-DAQ driver for the PCI-1200 is 6.9.3, which is compatible with LabVIEW 5.0.1. LabVIEW 5.0.1 supports Windows 2000, but not Windows XP (although it may still run).

  • I want to use an old Daqcard 1200 with Labview 8.5. Where is the driver?

I'm using Labview 8.5. I have an old Daqcard 1200 and there doesn't seem to be a driver for it. I downloaded an older version of NI-DAQ that claimed to have support for that card, but when I tried to install it wanted me to uninstall my newer version. Is there a way to use this card without going back to an ancient version of NI-DAQ?

Unless there is some specific technical problem with interfacing to the old equipment, I don't think it is unreasonable at all to expect them to include drivers for legacy equipment. It would cost them very little to throw a few extra drivers into a package that encompasses their whole product line anyway, other than the missed opportunity costs associated with not selling new equipment in a few rare cases (which is probably what this is really about) .
NI will probably explain better than i do. in general, they changed the way the DAQ driver operates, introducing also DAQmx. this is incompatible with the old way of functionning. for you, it forces you to choose the driver version to use.
But anyway, it's not worth it for me to set up a machine just to run this thing. I'm just going to trash it. Thanks for the help.
why dont you sell it over ebay? there are quite a bit that would love using it, for cheap enough. for example, this was one of the latest cards exhibiting 3 counters, operating differently than the modern version. it has its usefullness...Also, if this is the only one card installed in the computer, you wont miss anything with the new drivers

  • Does the "get SCXI information.vi" supports comunication thru SCXI-1200?

I'm trying to get the chassi modules and configuration information thru this VI using a SCXI-1200, but it returns the status -10240 and no information.
Please send any answer to: [email protected]
    Thanks in advance,

The Get SCXI Information.vi will return a 51 for the module type. Note that I do find it odd that the help for the VI states that anything not on the (limited) list of SCXI modules is not supported by that version of LabVIEW. I'm using 6.1!
Anyway, you don't actually need a 1520 to find that out. Just convice MAX that you've got one and the VI will return your configuration.

    Hi~
This error is due to signal interference between the device and the computer. This could be environmental or due to the PCI Controller. You can on a different computer to see whether this problem persists.

  • Connecting a BNC-2081 to an SCXI 1200

I have a strain gauge connected to a SCXI 1321 block, connected to a SCXI 1121 Module, connected to a SCXI 1200 Data Acquisition board and SCXI 1000 Mainframe.  I am trying to connect a BNC 2081 to the SCXI 1200 to be able to acquire the data over a standard BNC connector.  However, I connect everything, verify the BNC 2081 has power, but still get no signal out of any of the 4 channels acquired by the SCXI 1321.  Does anyone have any solutions?
    Thanks

    Hi rsmcculloch,
Lets first start by verifying you can get a signal into the
computer. Please check the test panels in Measurement and Automation Explorer
for the 1200. Do you get any errors? Was this card working before? This

  • Can I install SCXI-1200 and other NI-DAQ devices on the same computer?

I have the following three devices connected to my computer right now: PCI-MIO-16E-1, AT-MIO-16E-2, SCXI-1200(connected to SCXI-1001 chasis).
For some reason, the 2 E-Series devices (PCI-MIO-16E-1 and AT-MIO-16-E-2) function properly, while the SCXI-1200 always times out when I try to test it. (a base address error is returned). I tried all the trouble shooting procedures listed in this website but didn't succeed.
Is there a compatibility problem between the devices?

    Hello;
The main question is; did you try the scxi-1200 by itself on the machine (without having the other devices hooked up to the machine)?
It's important to narrow down the problem to a multidevice compatibility problem or a SCXI-1200 problem.

  • PWM with a SCXI-1200

I need to generate a PWM signal with a SCXI-1200 connected to a SCXI-1000 chassis. Any ideas of how to do it? I have a routine to generate a PWM to the PCI-6035E, but not for the SCXI.
    Thank you,
    Guilherme

    Guilherme;
You can't do PWM with the counter that is on that module. There is only one register on the SCXI-1200 counter. Everything would be very glitchy and ill-timed.
In case you need to do that on SCXI, you will need a SCXI-1180 feedthrough module. That module allows one to access the unused counters of the DAQ device that controls the SCXI chassis.

  • NI DAQ driver for multiple LabVIEW versions

    Hi ,
I have installed LV 8.0 and LV8.6 in my PC. I have installed DAQ 8.8 and it is getting detected in LV 8.6 and not in LV 8.0. So i tried to install  DAQ 8.6 which supports LV 8.0.While installing it is showing up that a higher version of DAQ driver is already installed .
I want the DAQmx functions in LV8.0.
Is uninstalling the higher version of DAQ the only option??
Anyone outthere  faced this type of issue?
    Thanks,
    Niju
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I can understand why the drivers might not be able to co-exist, however, it seems unusual that LabVIEW 8 has been abandonned in the newer DAQmx without even a simulator placeholder for the deactivated files.
I would like a set of DAQmx drivers that allow LabVIEW8 VIs to open without error, but only a warning that the DAQmx drivers are simulated.  There will be a lot of LabVIEW 8 VIs supported well into the future, and this support is along side newer version of LabVIEW on the same development machine.
A work around, or possible better solution, is having a utility that would switch DAQmx versions between the various LabVIEWs on demand and quickly.  This feature is has been provided for switching versions of TestStand for years.  It is time to provide it for DAQmx.

  • Is there any incompatibility between Labview 8.5 and Traditional DAQ?

Hi,  I`m using a DAQPad 6020E and the Labview 8.5 Daq assistant don`t detecte my DAQ when a try to create a new task (to create a new virtual chanel). But MAX detect the DaqPad. So, is ther any incompatibility between Labview 8.5 and traditional Daq? Do you know how can I resolve this?
    Thanks.

First, you posted to the wrong board. Measure is an old add-on for Excel.
Second, there is no incompatibility between LabVIEW 8.5 and tradtional DAQ. There is an incompatibility between traditional DAQ and DAQmx which is what the DAQ Assistant uses. Make sure that you install DAQmx if your device is supported by it. Otherwise, you will not be able to use the DAQ Assistant.

  • Which simulated DAQ device would give a value 0 - 50?

Which simulated DAQ device would give a value between 0 - 50? I am trying to run LabVIEW Basics I course project (weather station) by simulating a DAQ device in MAX. (The no hardware version works fine, but I want to use MAX to help it run with a DAQ simulated device). The simulated devices have a range to -10 to 10 volts, while the DAQ Assistant expects a value between 0 - 50. Which DAQ device can solve this problem in MAX? I don't want to alter the VI's. Any suggestions?

The example you are referring is using a scale to do this. The transducer for the example in the course creates a voltage between 0-1V which is V * 100 = Degree Celsius.
If you include such a scale (modify it since the simulated devices do not create a "stable" voltage between 0..1V), you will get something useful for you.
    hope this helps,
