Searching an ArrayList error

Question

Iv'e got this code

                    for ( int i =0; i<(thePersons.size()); ++i)
                         Person nextPersons = Person.next();
                         if (thePersons.get(i) instanceof Prisoner)
                              Prisoner p = (Prisoner)nextPersons;
                              if(p.getPrisonerID() == id )
                                   System.out.println(nextPersons.toString());
        }This is the line giving me problems
Prisoner p = (Prisoner)nextPersons;I'm getting this error
Prison.java:147: cannot find symbol
symbol : method next()

Person nextPersons = Person.next();

I've helped you before, and I mentioned that you really
need to learn Java basics before trying to write a whole app
using intuition. You badly need to know what things are,
and how they fit together.
Eg. Person is the name of one of your class.
So the only methods you can call "Person.something" are static methods.
Do you know what they are?
I bet you don't have a static method in Person called "next".
I didn't respond to your other messages, because you were
just rearranging your Java commands and trying to get something
to even compile...
Try reading a few Java tutorials on the java Collections framework,
and Iterators, and the difference between instance fields, instance methods, and static methods.
Edit: I just googled sun, Collections, tutorial.
And the first link already looks promising:
