Selection in web report

Hi All,
I have a question regarding to the web report. It is I have made few selections(date range) in the filter area and when I run the query normally it gives me diaologue box to enter the date range. Now I used the same query for a web report (using wad) and when I execute it in browser I get no prompt for entering the date range. Why is it like this ??

You can do that by opening the web template in WAD and then look at the template properties (not properties of any web item). Here you should be able to see Force Variable Screen Display. You need to check the check box against this property.

I have created one query and in Web Report-->variable selection screen I have one Date field for that field I have to display a label stating that user to input date in the format YYYY.MM(like a text label).Actually I have created 10 to 12 report . Prompts can originate from one of two places: either via Designer and using the @prompt functionality or while creating the report building a prompt in the Query Filters panel. If the prompt was built using the @prompt method, and all 10-12 reports are using that particular @prompt, then one change via Designer will cause all reports to reflect the new verbiage. If you built the 10-12 reports using the prompt in the second scenario, then each individual report needs to be opened, modified and then saved. If you must use the latter method, then you can open the first report, modify the prompt verbiage, then highlight the new verbiage with your mouse and hit Control-C (which copies that text to the Clipboard of your Windows system). Then go to the second report, locate the verbiage that needs to be changed, delete it, then Control-V (which pastes), and voila, some keyboarding strokes are saved....

Limiting Query View selections for Web reports

In web reports, users currently have Query View Selection but they want to be able to just see views that they have created and not all others.
How can this be done?
Does creating views in web and in BEX pull different auth objects or is it same? - Which objects are check in WEB views? Bex views use s_rs_comp with the QVW componenet.. but the trace does not show any log like this.

User specific protection of queries are controlled by authorization object S_RS_COMP1.
Authorization RSZOWNER = "$USER" allows the user access to activities in all the components he is an owner of.

How to create Variables(User Input Selections) in WEBI Report

              My requirement is to create a WEBI Report on top of BEx query,I have created a Universe and WEBI Report on this Universe but my doubt is How to create Variables for the User to select.The Input selection should be
User Iputs(All are drop downs)
Distribution Channel :       ->drop down,user can select one
Division:                          -> drop down,user can select one
Department:
Season:
Collection:
Date Format              Valid From:                                 Fiscal Week:
When the user gives the above selections the output should be displayed as
Material No   Description     Markdown Week     Reason code1(under this)        Reason code2(under this)   like that for all the
                                                                            valid from         Amount              Valid from          Amount            Reason code.
I have designed the basic layout of the Report but wanted to know how to design like this,Please help me out in this Format.

Hi, depending on the way you set this up (it is not entirely clear if you are talking bex variables or report drop down filters), use the following;
For BEX variables, the choice will be in the
UserResponse("prompt message")
this you can display in the message format you want.
For drop down filters the choice will be in the DrillFilters(), this one will show all selections in one string.
However, if you want to format this to a certain message, you need to use the Formula
DrillFilters([object from drill bar])
This will give you the result of just that one selection. If the user did not select (yet), the value will be "".

Prompt's customized LOV is not pre-selected when webi report is refreshed

Hi - I have customized LOV in every dimension and it's value is '*All'....it appears at the top of LOV values in the prompt list.
When I open the report, it shows the *All is already selected; but when I refresh this report using 'Refresh Data'; everythings comes up fine but *All no longer shows up as pre-selected value.
Is there a way to handle this situation? Please let me know if you need more explanation.
Note that when I hit the save button; report comes back with all '*All' pre-selected in all prompts.

I don't know how to access the document you mentioned...
anyway, to display All as customized value; edit the dimension's SQL and add
UNION
SELECT 'All' FROM DUAL (for oracle)
SELECT 'All' FROM anytablename (for SQL Server)
select the checkbox not to generate SQL and then click Run...click Display and then you should be able to see All as one of your custom value.

How to upload selections in web report

Hello Experts,
Problem Faced:
When my user is executing the query in the web. In the initial screen there is s varaible for CSO entry. He wants to upload the CSOs from the text file to speed up the process.
(In BEX analyzer there is an option as upload selections where we can upload the selections from the text file and execute the query).
Could any one please let me know if there is any option to upload the selections in the initial varable screen ( as done in BEX Analyzer)

Importing a text file with variable values into web reporting

Hello,
I'm looking for a possibility to import values from a text file into a variable selection in Web reporting.
With BEx reporting in Excel this is possible, by clicking on the multiple selection button in the variable popup screen, and subsequently selecting the "Import from Text file" button.
However, this function seems not to be available for web-reporting...
It would be great if someone could help me out with this!

In our example we used a file with numbers for materials. This file is stored somewhere in a directory, to which SAP BI must have authorization to read.
The file looks something like this:

Web reporting - variable selection should be display as key and description

hi experts,
Can anybody tell me the solution for my issue. My isssue is , in the web reporting, i have variable company code, i am selecting the company code thru search help. the values for company code is displaying with key.
the new requirement should be displayed with key and description.
I have checked in the bex, the properties of company code has maintained as key. when i run the report when cas selet as key and descritption. bex is not a probelm.
only the problew with webreports, can anybody give some inptus on my issue.

It can be achievable with static tabs created for each LOV .But this is not recommended because , object values can change dynamically .
It is good idea to use section on prompt object in the report .With sections great feature available is in larger report it’s easy to navigate using map. It displays the section tree.You can select the particular LOV to navigate.

Getting the MDX query select error when running a webi report on BI query

Getting the following error when running a webi report on BI query :
A database error occured. The database error text is: The MDX query SELECT { [Measures].[D8JBFK099LLUVNLO7JY49FJKU] } ON COLUMNS , NON EMPTY [ZCOMPCODE].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS ON ROWS FROM [ZTEST_CUB/REP_20100723200521] failed to execute with the error Unknown error. (WIS 10901).
I have gone through many threads related to this error. But not able find the steps to follow for resoultion.
Please help in this regard.

Need to clear last selected prompt values while refreshing webi report

While using ALL within cascading prompts its still showing the last prompt values selected in infoview and not while editing and trying to run webi reports.
Is there any way to clear this?
I have implemented following options to resolve but did not work
1) Delete the .lov files of universe.
2) Delete the contents in data folder by going into storage directory
3) Implemented the non_persistent concept in prompts
Code is as follows for the filter with in universe
@Select(Customised LOV\State) = @Prompt('Select State','A','Customised LOV\State',mono,free,Not_Persistent,,)
or
'ALL' = @Prompt('Select State','A','Customised LOV\State',mono,free,Not_Persistent,,)

In Web Intelligence, the Query Filter Condition consists of 3 parts:
- Object on which condition is applied
- Operator (=,<,>,matches pattern, etc)
- Operands (constant, LIst of Values, etc)
You will find a button with a "?" sign which is also called as Prompt properties. When you click on this button, a new window will open and in this you have an option for "Keep last values selected" which is checked by default.
Uncheck this check box --> Click OK. Run the report and save --> Relaunch InfoView to avoid any caching problems.

How to select more than one free characteristics in web report?

Hi,
From the performance point of view, I want to select more than one free characteristics to be displayed in WEB report.
I know in BEx Analyzer, we can do this by right mouse click and choose' query property' from the context menu, all the free characteristics are displayed in the popup window. But in WEB report these free char don't displayed in the 'query property' popup window.
Could anyone tell me how to implement this in WEB report?

Hi,
each free characteristics in the list has two functions beside it, 'drilldown in rows' and 'drilldown in columns', but this functions as select only one free characteristics, each time you select one, the report will be loaded again.
if I want to select like 10 free characteristics, the report will be refreshed and reloaded 10 times.
my question is that how can I select these 10 free characteristics once to improve the performance.

Sort variable values in selection box in BEx web report.

Hello friends,
In my BEx web report I have cal/month selection. When I do dropdown to select values it starts with 01/1960 and I have to click 10 times to get to 01/2006, 02/2006 and so forth.
Is there a way to sort these values so I can get most current cal/month in first list?

I would consider changing the read mode for the dropdown box. Are all of those dates actually relevant? Check out the properties of the dropdown box in WAD.
