Send Alert to External Users

We have an internal SharePoint 2013 site, but our users are use Google for Email. I need alerts to send email to google distribution lists when documents change in one of our document libraries. We don't want to add people to the alerts or remove people
every time the distribution list changes. When I try to add the google distribution list email to SharePoint I get the following error:
Sorry, you are not allowed to share this with external users.
I don't really want alerts to go to any where outside of our organization since the site is not public. I tried to create a distribution list in Active Directory with the email address I want to alert, but that didn't appear to work. I would like to either
white list our domain name so that it is not considered and external user, or be able to create an object in AD so that SharePoint will accept email addresses we have designated as safe. Has anyone figure out a way ot do this?
Yes, I know office 365 would make all of this easier, but that is not a fight I am going to win today. I would just like to make our SharePoint site a little more functional.

I am already using the Site Administrator account (my admin account used to set up the site and designated as the site administrator). The account is also a domain admin and has full access to the site configuration. I haven't tried the farm account itself,
but the farm account has less rights than my admin account, so I don't think that is it...
Here is what I am doing:
Server 2012 running SharePoint 2013
Navigate to the portal home page.
Navigate to the sub site.
Select the document library.
From the ribbon select library
Select Alert Me
Select Set alert on this library
Enter the name of the security group configured with an email address (Attribute: mail) into the users field. Group I am using is the same one that has been assigned to the subsite for access so I know it is seen and that the group can be emailed by sharepoint.
I can't select the group because it is not an option, so I enter the email address that is assigned to the group...
Error I get when I click OK is:
Sorry, you are not allowed to share with external users.

  • Unable to send alerts to External users

    Hello,
We've implemented SharePoint 2013 for internal and external domain users. We setup all users in our AD but the external users have their own company email addresses. Now, all of our users i.e. Internal DC users and External DC users can access and perform
their work on SharePoint portal. However, External users are unable to receive any alerts.
    Any idea?
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Sohaib Khan

    Hi Sohaib,
    Any updates?
From your description, alerts work well on internal users while external users won't get email alerts.
Since emails from SharePoint are sent via SMTP server, such as Exchange server. Not sure what SMTP server you are using integrated with SharePoint server. The issue might occur to two stage: one is if the alert is triggerred by SharePoint side, another is
that if the email is sent via SMTP server.
As alerts could be sent to internal users. Then I'd recommend you firstly troubleshoot if SMTP server works well for exteranl users.

  • Send Alerts to external email ids

    Dear All,
I am using ALERT MANAGEMENT to raise alerts and send mail to recipients. I am able to send external mails to
those users who have got a SAP Userid where the email id is maintained in the user profile. But suppose I want
to send mails to external users who do not have SAP Userid, then how to do it.  I checked the program
RSALERTTEST where it gives the option to send mails to external email ids.
    Regards,
    Pravat.

    Hi Pravat,
You can do this with SALRT_CREATE_API. But you have to create a alert  category. go to ALRTCATDEF with a user role " SAP_XI_ADMINISTRATOR".
Then create category and give your receivers.
Then write a program like rsalrtdemo1 . This shows you how an alert can be called directly by a function module.
Also you can get more detailed information from these links :

  • SharePoint 2010 question about alert to external user

Any ideas about how to implement an alert within SharePoint 2010 that would cause an alert to be sent to a user outside of one's organization when the value of an "Assigned To" column within a list is set to that external user's e-mail address?

It should just work. Make sure to check your mail flow (e.g. Exchange server transport logs) to validate the mail is leaving the organization. Also make sure that the user that it is Assigned To has an email address assigned to them in the User Information
    List (for their User account).

  • Groupwise not send mails to external users

Did you setup internet addressing? Currently you have to manually setup internet addressing in Console One when setting up groupwise8 (see the docs for a how-to, its very easy). Without internet addressing, you'll be able to send emails to internal users, but not to external users, which seems to be the problem you are having.
Just FYI, this internet addressing problem is being addressed in the next patch, which is currently in testing.

  • Uploading DOC,PDF etc files and sending it to External user

    Hi,

Currently I m not been able to find out the location where the file is getting stored.

    Hello,
I saw your question and after reading Tamo's blog, here is the answer to your questions:
    1. how you should initialize the outputstream.
you do not initialize the outputStream, the Weblogic container does that for you, the call response.getOutputStream() returns a ready to use stream.
    2. what should I do with the outputstream after that, I mean how to show to user. do I need another conversion from outputstream to another datatype File forexample.
you simply flush the output to the client, and the client will render the blob depending on the mimeType. since the output stream writes to the response that is sent back to the client.
by the way, those two questions has more to do with J2EE than ADF.

  • How to send email to external users using the distribution list from workflow

I have created distribution list in SO23 with external email addresses.
How I can use distribution list in "Send Mail component" or I should use another component?
It works fine for a single email address. And distribution list works fine when I use it via SBWP.

    Hi,
Take activity step instead of Mail step. User fm SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1 to send mail.
And use fm SO_DLI_READ_API1 to find list of user from    distribution list. You can    find how to use this fm in rule 30000012

  • Custom email not sending to external user

    Hi All,
I am trying to send email to user through custom C# code, its working fine until i send to external user such as gmail etc. How to fix this? Thanks in advance!

    Hi
    Sam
    First
check whether you configure outgoing e-mail settings, if not, please refer to the following article to configure outgoing e-mail settings. After determining which SMTP server to use, the SMTP server must be configured to allow anonymous access and to
allow e-mail messages to be relayed.
    Configure
outgoing e-mail settings (Office SharePoint Server)
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263462.aspx
    For
sending mail to external user  your SMTP server must have Internet access or it must be able to relay authenticated e-mail to a server that has Internet access.
Please Mark As Answer if my post solves your problem or Vote As Helpful if the post has been
    helpful for you.

  • How to send e-mail alert to the user job is successful or failed.

    Hi Experts,
I have scheduled a job using DBMS_JOB Package; in this job I am calling a procedure.
How can we send an e-mail(alert) to the user if the job is successful (or) job fails.
If the job is successfully completed, then we have to send mail as “Job is completed successfully along with job name”.
If the job fails we have to send email as “error message of the job along with job name”(why the job is failed).
This alert should be sending automatically no manual intervention.

    Hi,
I think you can do by creating mailing procedures and call it in the loop and outside the loop.
There would be two procedure one in inside loop which will execute after successfull completion of the loop.
    Other would be in the exception block like i shown in the below code you have written;
V_variable_1 you can use as a parameter for what is the error occured.
like suppose your mailing procedure name is Status_email and Status_email_1.
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE APPS_GLOBAL.arc_procedure (P_ID IN NUMBER)
         IS
         CURSOR C IS SELECT id,table_name,archive_table_name,where_condition
         FROM apps_global.control_ram
         WHERE id = p_id
         ORDER BY id, table_name;
    V_VARIABLE_1 NUMBER;
    V_VARIABLE_2 VARCHAR2(400);
         BEGIN
            FOR I IN C
            LOOP
               EXECUTE IMMEDIATE
                  'INSERT INTO '
               || I.ARCHIVE_TABLE_NAME
