Service Interuption Fee

I am very frustrated this morning.
First I want to say that I am about a month behind on my account and that is my fault due to my circumstances.  If I was not behind I would not be in this situation.  With that being said.
I searched online for a way to contact billing and spent about 1/2 of wasted time because there is not an easy way to get answers within the system.  When I tried to chat or find an email it was error’d out.   Trying to communicate with VW is very cumbersome and troublesome.
So this morning my service was suspended for balance due.  I called back the missed call I got this morning to find out it was Financial Services.  They explained to me that I was Texted, called, and given other opportunities to pay, which I was not.  They took a payment over the phone and all ten of my devices were turned back on.  I was assessed a fee of $159 witch they waived $45.
Now I have been with VW for 10 years plus.  I pay over $400 per month.   So I brooded over this and started to do research.  The same thing happened on 5/3.  Phones turned off I called made a payment turned on again with a $159 fee.  At that time I figured it was completely my fault because of what the person told me and I figured I missed something or forgot.  Again, none of this is sitting well with me.
So I called Financial Services and spoke to them again.  The representative told me that they would not reverse any of the charges.  In the earlier call I was told that they were sending me a txt on my phone that I had a payment due.  I knew this as I received this on my cell phone, but it was only a balance due txt.  I looked on my phone and found both of these txt’s about 5 days before my phones were suspended on 5/4 and 5/21. When I checked my account online the due dates had not changed from 5/4 and 6/4 for both months.  They said they called which I did receive a missed call from a phone number but no message.   They said that I received a txt of interruption of service.  That txt was not sent to my phone but to my 16 year old daughters phone.  The txt stated if I do not pay today the service will be interrupted.  Well that does not help me pay my bill.  So when I try to explain to them why their system is flawed he says the fees will not be reversed.  He got kinda snippy and short with me.  I finally just ask for a a supervisor and he comes back saying the fees for 6/4 will be reversed thank you and good bye.  So I am sitting thinking about the fee’s for 5/3.    But I am frustrated.  I went back to the end of April and Beginning of May.  Same thing, txt to me that bill is due, account on internet says due on 5/4, on 5/2  I find a txt on daughters phone giving me the evening to pay up or service interrupted, and a missed call from unknown person with no voicemail to my phone.  Again, Financial Services appears to not want to see the flaws in their perfect system.  I guess they figure I am stuck with them and no longer appreciate my business.  Rod

  • Service cancellation fee

I need to cancel our service. We have 4 lines, all being smartphones. How do I do it? I'm SURE Verizon charges a cancellation fee, ha!

If you cancel in the middle of your billing cycle...Verizon will give you some mumbo jumbo that the "port"  didn't complete until the day before your next billing cycle.  How convenient!!!  I cancelled 3 weeks before my billing cycle and paid their early termination fee.  I didn't have a problem paying that but I do have a problem paying them until the end of the cycle when I can't use the phone.  They got an extra $75.  So don't cancel in the middle of your cycle but then if you do, they will probably give you some **** about the "port" didn't finish until the next billing cycle.  I guess either way your are screwed!!!  Glad I am not a Verizon customer.  BTW, I was transferred three times to learn that I wasn't getting my $75. bucks back.  Good Luck!!!
Actually, paying for the full final month of service isn't "mumbo jumbo," it is part of the terms and conditions of the customer agreement:
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY POSTPAY SERVICE IS CANCELED BEFORE THE END OF MY CONTRACT TERM?
If you're signing up for Postpay Service, you're agreeing to subscribe to a line of Service either on a month–to–month basis or for a minimum contract term, as shown on your receipt or order confirmation.  (If your Service is suspended without billing, that time doesn't count toward completing your contract term.) Once you've completed your contract term, you'll automatically become a customer on a month–to–month basis for that line of Service. If you cancel a line of Service, or if we cancel it for good cause, during its contract term, you'll have to pay an early termination fee.  If your contract term results from your purchase of an advanced device, your early termination fee will be $350 minus $10 for each full month of your contract term that you complete.  Otherwise, your early termination fee will be $175 minus $5 for each full month of your contract term that you complete.  Cancellations will become effective on the last day of that month's billing cycle, and you are responsible for all charges incurred until then.  Also, if you bought your wireless device from an authorized agent or third–party vendor, you should check whether they charge a separate termination fee.
It has nothing to do with the port.  When you agree to the contract, you agree to pay for that final month. Most carriers do this.  I had U.S. Cellular for a couple of years, and they had the same policy.  I don't know about AT&T or T-Mobile, but I am fairly certain Sprint has the same terms as well.  Knowing the terms of the  contract you agreed to saves time, hassle, and frustration.  Also you don't have to pay two companies for a one month of service.

  • Why was I charged a Cellular Service - Suspension fee of $15 for upgrading?

Long story short, I've been with Verizon Wireless for over 10 years.  Sure there's hiccups here and there, but this is kind of ridiculous.  I upgraded from a Galaxy S3 --> S5 a few weeks and had a few problems while upgrading.  Received a new sim card (bought the phone off Amazon) and it had some trouble activating.  Called customer service, who were able to get it upgraded, and it seems that I was charged a Cell Service Suspension of $15 dollars for absolutely no reason.  I'm aware of the upgrade fee and took that into account.  Is there any way to get this dropped?
If a verizon rep stops by, this is regarding the xxx-7048 line.

        Hi bmat8,
I'd appreciate you being with us for over ten years! I'd like to help you with your concern over the suspension fee. How many other people are on your account as account managers that might've requested a service suspension? Normally if a suspension fee is charged, this is done over the phone with the fee disclosed. Please give me details.

  • Service interuption 8/23

Can any one explain why blackberry service IE messenger e-mail did not go down when cell services where turned off on parts of east coast. And is this something we can expect to see repeated? Thanks

Cell service on the East coast areas of the US were not "turned off" yesterday; the voice services were primarily overloaded with calls and services jammed due to network overload (too many people calling their loved ones and others to say "omg, what just happened?"). Voice services and SMS uses the voice channel for those services.
Meanwhile, BlackBerry Messenger uses the "data" pipe on the device and network. BlackBerry data is highly compressed, and allows much more bandwidth, i.e., much more communication "space" is available, and likewise is using the internet in general, and not only the more limited network voice channels. So, it did not fail.
    Does that make sense?

Hello, how can i replace my wlc2504 to a WLC5508 without disconnecting everybody, i have 3 SSID, on different VLAN...
I want the WLC5508 to be the main WLC, so i can remove the 2504 from the network.
On the WLC5508, it will be the same configuration of the 2504.
Is there a procedure or a wiki on such operation?

  • How much is Shibuya's (Adobe Air Marketplace Paying service) transaction fee?

I am trying to figure out how much does it cost developers to accept payment when using the new Shibuya payment system.  I can only find FAQ for buyers but not for sellers.

    +1 on this question.
Also, could Shibuya be used for copy protection and sales for WindowSWF Flash extensions?

  • Bad uverse service, cancelled after 11 days and was hit with $112 bill!

As this was a new installation there is a non pro rated one time charge of $49, leaving actual charge of $63. From...http://www.att.com/u-verse/explore/offer-details.jspPromotional pricing applies to service rates only and excludes taxes, equipment fees, and other charges, including a $49 service activation fee, city video cost recovery fees, where applicable, and a Broadcast TV surcharge AND....30-Day Money Back Guarantee: Must cancel all AT&T U-verse services within 30 days from service activation. Adjustment provided for monthly recurring charges only. Customer is responsible for all additional charges, including but not limited to installation, activation, On Demand, Pay per View, international calls, other pay-per-use features, non-returned equipment charges, and any other one-time fees.  There is no 70mps service, and higher speed tiers require bonded when available...The data base can be wrong.... But the billing cannot be erased, services installed, canceled within 30 days thus have no $180 early termination fee.

I've been a Uverse customer for 4 years, and a wireless one for longer than that. I moved a few weeks ago and had my uverse set up at the new house.  The install technician was great, but the news of what I had was not so great.  Long story short, the lines going to my house were not sufficient for reliable Uverse service.  I was paying for the max turbo (24mbps) service at the old address, but due to line length and the AT&T engineer not wanting to give me a bonded pair port from the VRAD, I had to downgrade to 12mbps service and only if I wasn't watching more than one HD channel.  I gave it a good honest try since I had good service at the old house.  I've run multiple speedtest.net bandwidth tests and sometimes I would hit 12, sometimes it would drop to 4 or less.  Sometimes web pages wouldn't load on the first try.  The TV pixellated often enough that it was annoying to watch.  The service  was installed on May 15th, and on May 26th I called and cancelled.  I just got a bill in Friday for $184, and I was "graciously" given a credit for $72.  The billing period listed was for May 15-June 16.  So how can 11 days of service that didn't live up to Uverse standards net me a charge of $112?  I didn't even have it half a billing cycle, so why was the credit given less than half the bill?  I don't feel I should have to pay any of it since I wasn't receiving the advertised services I ordered, and nobody I talked to when cancelling said there would be any charges or a "final bill."  According to the AT&T corporate store as well as the address check on the uverse website, I was supposed to be eligible for 70mbps service.  That clearly wasn't the reality of what I had available.  How can I make them erase this bill?

  • Cellular Service - Reconnect

Does anybody know what the "Cellular Service - Reconnect" fee is for?
We have not been disconnected and have paid on time.  Just noticed a $15.00 on all lines, in this month's bill.

It is just that. A reconnect fee for when service gets suspended for non payment. Could be a check bounced initially and the check was put through again. But in the mean time, even if for a short time, you were disconnected.
Or your payments (if by check are always late due to sending the payment in a day or two before it is due.......

  • What should I do? Has other people's Support been this bad?

My name is Mile Marjanovich and I am an unhappy Verizon Wireless customer.
I have been a customer since October 2004 and finally after 7 years I think it's time to call it quits with this company. Their network may have been one of the most reliable in the past compared to the competition but in the end it was the customer service and the literal lies that their employees have told me which made me call it quits.
And here's how it ended keep in mind none of the details have been exaggerated nor embellished this is the actual situation and times in which this has transpired.
On September 7th 2011 at 2130 me and the wife bought 2 Motorola Droid Bionics using our last "New Every Two" sale, we purchased 2 Bionics, 1 Lapdock, 1 Car Dock, 1 Bluetooth Earpiece, 1 Car charger, roughly totalling $1200 in purchases, with our rep telling us there would be $100 rebate for the lapdock and that our existing Droid 1 & Droid 2 could be turned in for even more credit to offset the cost. Expecting these phones to live up to the standards of quality that motorola had given us with both the Droid 1 (2 purchased December 2009) and the Droid 2 (1 purchased in June 2010) we were excited. We were not new to the Android family nor to Motorola products before purchasing these so it's not a first time bad experience situation.
On September 12th 2011 at 1200 the phones arrived, to start with they wouldn't activate, through 2 calls of technical support and excuses along the longs of "its such a popular phone right now our activation servers are busy so just keep trying" we finally got them activated in about an hour and a half later.
On September 15th (our billing cycle date) we noticed that the $100 credit for the lapdock had still not been applied nor had we received a $100 Verizon gift card yet.
On September 22nd I called Verizon opting to finally use the 14 day no worries hassle free guarantee and return the phones which in the first 9 days experienced, 3g/4g service interupts, applications uninstalling themselves, missed calls, dropped calls, extraordinarily short bettery lifes (under 4 hours with little to moderate usage). We I talked to Verizon they informed me that it was past the 14 day mark and we could not exchange, as it started from the time we ordered the phones not the time we received the phones. So the 5 days it took to get the phones was part of our "Testing time".
In late September 2011, I had finally received the boxes and prepaid shipping labels to send the Droid 1 & Droid 2 into Verizon for the credit program and sent them the phones.
In October 15th, 2011 (Billing cycle date) we had still not received and credit for the lapdock, the droid 1 or the droid 2, and our phones were replaced the first time after my wife's Bionic developped a strange clicking noise in the speakers anytime any audio was played and my Bionic had began to drop calls regularlly.
In late October 2011, the first Bionic that arrived to replace the wife's was faulty, the Power Switch wouldn't depress and you couldn't turn the phone on.
A couple days later in October 2011 another bionic arrived and besides the 3g/4g data issues at least turned on.
Throughout November 2011 our phones were replaced for the following reasons, 1 the external speaker didn't work, 1 the sim card slot didn't work, 1 had a charge that lasted only 22 minutes from full to shutdown, 1 constantly crashed no matter which google app you tried to use, 1 the gps didn't work, 1 the Wifi/Bluetooth/LTE services didn't work, 1 arrived with a metal sliver sticking outta the bezel in the upper left hand corner of the phone which actually cut my finger open when I went to turn the unit on once, 1 only had 3g functuality and the Verizon rep said that the database on their end showed it as a "Unknown Device" and thus he couldn't fix it. During all of these repairs, returns, etc each "Factory Certified Like New Device" showed up with glitches, errors and other non-working features and with an average of 60 minutes a call to tech support each day for Activation issues and troubleshooting, Verizon kept telling me that when Motorola would release "The Patch" it would all fix itself.
November 15th (Billing Cycle) still no rebate/credit for lapdock, or traded in phones, after a couple calls and them "Researching the problems" they figured out that the $100 lapdock rebate was only from September 8th-October 15th, and although the Verizon website on the 7th of September showed the deal and the Verizon rep that sold me the phones told me about the offer I was not elligible since I ordered the phones 2 1/2 hours early. Through a pile of additional calls they finally said sorry and credited me $100 for the lapdock. So issue #1 of 5 had been solved (3 rebates, 2 broke phone) 20% progress.
    December 15th, 2011 - Received a $70 credit on my account (Droid 1?)
Continuing into December of 2011, we continued to replace phones and battle customer service, even went to far as to actually post a review of the phone on Verizon's websites with the issues we've had and awarded the phone a single star (The review was deleted) as well as an additional 2 bad reviews (always deleted after being posted to their website) and then one day things changed...
On December 16th around 1800, I spoke with Mark (Technical Support Supervisor) for Verizon and he made me and my wife and offer, he looked at the notes and the logs and the troubles we had been having with the phones and offered to replace the device with a comparable model. My only request was ANYTHING but another Motorola phone. He offered the HTC Rezound and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. I told Mark, since I have only ever had Motorola Droid Products I don't know which one of those were better and asked him, what HE would get as he was going to know Verizon's product line better than myself. He said the Nexus, he hadn't received any calls on it, it was a new phone, great reviews, etc. I agreed to the offer, he told me that since it was going to be a warranty replacement the phones would be certified like new and that the most difficult part in getting used phones is usually locating the batteries and the battery backs. After another 10 minutes or so of him looking things up he told me the phones had been ordered and we would be receiving 3 boxes from fedex, 2 boxes would each contain one Nexus and one box would have the batteries and the backs. I asked Mark how to ship the phones and what should I do with the incompatible accessories (1 Bionic Lapdock & 1 Bionic Car Dock) seeing as verizon does not accept accessories for trade in credit. He advised me to sell the parts on Ebay or Craigslist or something to buy the new parts for the Nexus.
On December 17th (Saturday) I managed to sell the parts for enough to get the Nexus Dock.
On December 19th (Monday) I received 4 packages from Fedex, 3 Bionics, and one box containing 2 Samsung Galaxy Nexus Batteries, and 2 Samsung Galaxy Nexus Battery Backdoors. I called Verizon to figure out where the Nexus's are and why I had a 3rd bonus bionic here and was informed that Mark never actually ordered it and they were confused as to why he would offer it when there is no used inventory. The double checked the notes on their system and verified he did actually offer it and Alice (an amazing CS rep) said that she would check inventory every tuesday and thursday and send me a text message with the inventory status (and to this day she still does, like she promised).
On December 20th (Tuesday) Mark called me to appologize and say he cannot order the phone as there is no inventory and sorry for making the offer. He said he was shipping me 2 Motorola Droid Razr's that would be here on Wednesday, and that these were great phones, no issues, never have to be replaced, etc. After I got off the phone with him I immediatly called Customer Service back and tried to figure out how my one request had been ignored again and why they couldn't fufill the offer. Michelle (another very nice rep) said sorry, she doesn't know why he offered and then retracted but told me to "Just give the Motorola Razr's a chance" there great phones and seriously no issues.
On December 21st (Wednesday) 1400, I received 2 Motorola Droid Razr's, as my wife was working I didn't want to try and activate her's while she was at work and mess with her service I went through the invoices and grabbed the one attached to my line and tried to activate it. The Razr sent to me had a couple issues, #1 It kept getting a "Sim Card Authorization Error, please contact customer service" #2 Wifi wouldn't work #3 LTE service wouldn't work #4 the phone would randomly restart itself every couple of hours, #5 it fluctuated between no service for literally hours at a time to "Unknown Carrier" messages. I made 6 calls over the 24 hours I had the phone and the issues were still not resolved, and remember this was "The phone with no issues, trust us, you'll love it, just give it a chance". My wife's line on the other hand after 30 minutes of customer service and resetting the IMEI in the database and the reinputting the SIM card on verizon's end they finally got her's working and what do ya know it's great... Mine on the other hand was still not functional.
On December 22nd (Thursday) I contacted the West Region Executive Management team, and technical support explained 3 months of history, issues, number of replacements etc, and my rep said they were sending out a HTC Rezound, finally listening to my "Anything but a Motorola" request and that I would receive it on Friday (Dec 23rd)
On December 23rd (Friday) I spoke with Liz, West Region Executive Management Team representative, who after looking at my account for last couple months, looked into the HTC Rezound I was going to receive later today and said good news, it looks like it was a unit returned after just one day, so it wasnt a defective unit or anything, should be great... feeling reassured that Verizon had finally sent me a good working unit I waited. At 1800 hours I received my fedex shipment and opened the box to find... a Motorola Razr, I have had the Razr now for 3 hours and 7 minutes... it will not activate, it keeps failing, it has been reset twice, i have swapped SIM cards, still not activating...
... at least my wife is working... too bad for me apparently 12 Motorola Droid Bionics, and 3 Motorola Droid Razr's are just the beginning of this game...

Unfortunately, most of my advice is in the "hindsight is 20-20" category.
First off, I would never have purchased the peripheral accessories until the 14 day return period had expired. Second, you learned the hard way what the "14 days" really means.
Too bad you didn't do any homework, reading this and other forums and tech sites. Even word of mouth from others. That, more than anything could have steered you towards different phone choices from the get-go and I will leave that there with no further comment other than to say most of the issues you described have been discussed in this forum, ad nauseam.
Once you got into the refurbished phone exchanges, that is where things really went haywire. What someone tells you over the phone is a sketchy proposition, and when it comes down to it, it's your word against theirs.
I think Verizon tried to make it right, though. Remember, they don't make the phones. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
You stated yourself you were a satisfied Verizon customer before this. Had the first two phones performed as they should, you would still be a satisfied Verizon customer.
Doubt any of that will make you any happier, but after you went through the effort of writing such a long post, I thought I'd try.

  • 5C will no longer connect to my home network, but all other devices do.

We had a service interuption and lost the wifi network at home for a while. When the network came back my 5C will no longer connect to the network, even though all of the other devices will. It will connect to wifi on other networks. I reset the router first. On my phone I have updated to the latest IOS, shut the phone off, forgotten the network, reset the network settings and reset the phone settings. Still will not connect to the network. It acts like it is trying but never makes it. I do not recieve an error message of any sort. What is the next step?

    Good day Telbuoy,
Thank you for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your iPhone 5s is not connecting to your home Wi-Fi network. You've done a good job of isolating this behavior to your iPhone and home Wi-Fi router.
There are a few more steps that I'd suggest trying next:
Make sure your iPhone is updated to the latest iOS version using the steps in Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
Make sure your router is using the settings in Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points.
Update your Wi-Fi router with the latest firmware and make sure the router supports your Apple product. For more information, contact the manufacturer of your router. (from If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network)
    Best Regards,
    Jeremy

  • Cannot use sync. to set up outlook using DM 5.0

I know thatt his thread has been written to death and I am ashamed to have to even stoop to another of the same but this is a ligit complaint that many people in these forums that see themselves as experts have tried to tell people how to solve the problem to no avail so before I get flamed let me say this...
I have gone as far as level 3 support with RIM through my carrier using their carrie code to avoid RIMS ridiculous service tech fee and when I told them that I am receiving first of all dll error messages upon install of DM 5.0 for the Tour 9630 and then once I click through them and complete the install, Hook up my Tour and open the DM to try and set up Sync to outlook I get the message that I must be hooked up to the internet when I am on a broadband connection from home and YES I have every Internet security turned off and taken the router out of my connection directly hooked into my modem and nothing.
Here is everyones cure on here including RIM support...; Clean uninstall your software including all registry entries and install 4.2 SP2 which does not need an internet connection and you will be fine.
Thant is not good enough for me nor should it be for anyone else on here as well. Eventually that software is going to look for updates to the DM 4.2 and tell you there is a higher version available to install.
This has gotten rediculous on here and RIM needs to do something about it and the so called experts on here trying to help people should stop with the clean install  "****" you know what and do this and do that and just recognize it is not US. It is RIM and they need to focus and redo their DM in order to make things work right.
That is all I have and expect to be blasted but I have a right to speak my mind and I did.

  • Hard Drive failure in 2011 iMac... warranty/price?

    Hello,
I have a 21.5" Intel Core i7 iMac with a 1TB hard drive (custom ordered from Apple).  Got it in July 2011 with the extended 3-year AppleCare warranty.  The only thing I've ever put into it was 8GB of extra memory, shortly after I purchased it.
Yesterday. I started hearing random clicking from the computer... for 5-10 seconds... and it would go away.   Later in the day, I started to hear it louder and longer.   Each time it happened, the little loading pinwheel would pop up and my programs would start to lag out.   I turned off the computer, let it rest a while, and got on again.  Did something similar this morning, but did not last too, too long.
Later in the day, I decided to convert over a VHS tape to my computer using an EyeTV Tuner.  The VHS tape was a 2-hour recording.  I went to another room to watch something on cable and left it to do it's thing.  When I came back, the fan in the computer was going "VVVRRRFFFF!!!!!!" very loudly (I heard it the next room over) and when I came back in, I heard "click, click, click, click, click, click," etc).  I was able to move the mouse a little before the whole thing froze up, but nothing on screen moved and the higher lefthand corner of the screen was missing the menu icons.
I pretty much assume that the hard drive it failing me for whatever rason.  I had this happen to my PowerMac G4 in 2000, so I'm not too unfamiliar with the signs.  I turned it off for a bit, and then when I started it up, immediately started backing up what I needed and deleting space so I can do a final Time Machine update on it.
ANYWAY... I don't know what to do at this point other than contact my local Apple reps at my earliest convenience to see what can be done to fix it... but I'm curious to know if a replacement might be covered under the AppleCare warranty?  My Applecare warranty runs out in late July of this year, so I'm hoping they can do something for it. Outside of that, I'm not sure what kind of service/product fee there might be for a replacement.  Has anyone experienced this recenty to know what how this is generally handled??  I did some moving things around a few months ago with my documents and I'm not sure offhand where my Applecare papers are right now, but I know if I look the serial up on the website, it shows as still active.  Would I need to present them with the paper directly?  Does anyone know?
    Thanks.

AppleCare will cover the total repair at no charge. Contact them immediately and make an appointment to take your machine into your local Apple Store or AASP.

  • FIOS DOWN EVERY 3 HOURS FOR 9 MONTHS - VERIZON COULD CARE LESS

I have placed numerous calls to Verizon about service interuptions to internet that last 15 seconds. This happens EIGHT times a day. To prove to them it is the neighborhood and not my home or equipment, I installed monitoring software on my home and my neighbors. Both go off at the same time. Verizon collects the money and could care less. Obviously they need to replace their equipment, I am told a PWN ? Card. But, this would take their money and cut into their profit. If you have a choice I would not go with FIOS.

  • Signed a 1-year contract and then AT&T raised price

I was going to cancel my service in December last year, but when I called to cancel, AT&T offered U200 for a certain rate for 12 months in exchange for me signing a contract for one-year.  So I agreed to keep AT&T U-Verse for 1 year and pay that set price. Subsequent to our agreement, AT&T raised the bill by ~$4 in February (yes, the notification was in the December bill but that bill was generated after I entered into the one-year contract). I had an online chat with customer care and I was told that it is AT&T's policy to apply the rate increase even to customers who are under a contract.  I sent a private message this past weekend but I have yet to hear back. It is absurd that AT&T thinks this is okay: 1) If I cancel the service before December this year, I have to pay a penalty.2) Yet AT&T can raise the rate at any time without my consent.3) If I don't like the rate increase, I can cancel the service but I still have to pay the penalty. Is anyone else having this same issue (i.e., those who have to pay a penalty if they were to cancel within the contract period, similar to how cell phone contracts work)?  Please share your experience here.  Thanks.

  • What can be done about cancelling BT without havin...

MY mum is a pensioner and has been bamboozled into taking up BT. She was told that it would cost her less than her current package. However she was NOT told about the line rental, she was NOT told about the delivery charges, she was NOT told about the service enactment fee for a television package that was not needed. She tried to cancel but was told that there was a £500 fee!!! Where is the cooling off period? How can she get out of this because she will be paying more than her previous supplier!

If you think that she was mis-sold the package, the call centre normally record all sales calls, so what was said can be verified.
If you would like this investigated then:-
If you would like to contact one of the UK based BT Care Team who moderate this forum, they should be able to help you.
They can be contacted using this link BT Care Team
They normally respond by phone or e-mail, within three working days, however you should get an immediate confirmation, with a tracking number.
There are some useful help pages here, for BT Broadband customers only, on my personal website.
