Setting pdf printer settings use framemaker FDK

I am trying to create a framemaker client that will save a book as a pdf file. This client will do all the steps automatically and will be activated nightly on a build server.
My problem is that when I use the command F_ApiSave() with the arguments set so that the file will be correctly saved, I get an error in framemaker that says I must set the PDF printer property: "Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts." to off. This option is already set to off by default, but my client must be changing it to on.
Is there any way to change this option using the Framemaker API in C on windows?

Cannot set custom print settings using mg6220

Have just purchased a new iMac running 10.8.2 and Canon MG 6220. Can print, but am not able to set custom print settings and see disclosure triangle in the Print Dialogue Window that I would click on to get to this option. The instructions and illustrations in the manual are not the same as what I am seeing in my print window.

Then I think you have selected the AirPrint driver rather than the MG6200 Series driver.
So what you can do is open Print & Scan, select the current MG6220 in the Printers list and press the minus button to remove it. Then click on the plus button next to the minus button to add but if a little sub-menu window appears showing the MG6220 under the heading of Nearby Printers, as shown below with my MP990, do not select this.
Instead, select the menu item that says Add Printer or Scanner. This will make the Default Add printer view appear. Here you should see the MG6220. Select it and if the Use menu shows AirPrint, click on this menu and select Canon MG6200 Series. Then click Add to complete. This should now give you the same Quality & Media menu that I have shown above.

Is it possible to give each page within one pdf document a specific set of print settings?

I have a complex document (catalogue) that requires printing. There are several different printer settings required and each one is specific to each page within the document. For instance pg 1 is single sided in colour, page 2-3 is duplexed in b&w, page 3-8 is duplexed in colour, etc.... Is it possible to give each page within the pdf document a given set of print settings and then print the entire document as a whole?

PDF Print Settings

Hi all,
Can you please let me know where to find the settings for the following options:
1) We are on BI 7.0 and we are using Portal to run the reports. After the report is generated when we choose the Print Version (to print to PDF), the dialog box that appears shows the Margins option in mm. I would like to default it to inch. It uses the '0ANALYSIS_PATTERN' template. Can you please let me know where to find this setting.
2) I also have another problem while printing to PDF or Export to Excel. I have some column headings that show up in 2 lines. For eg: Curren Month / Actual. Here Current Month shows up in one line and Actual shows up in next line. ( There are not 2 lines, instead of showing the entire column heading too wide, we just split it). When we print, the second line is not showing up. Any idea where to do the setting for this in the template to show the 2nd line also.

Also interested in knowing where one would go looking if the "Print Version" button in a BEx Query works in Development and Production, but not QA. QA gets a "(410) Unauthorized" with AdobeDocumentServices/Config?style=document" at the end of the URL.

Sharing a pdf printer settings

hi there
i need to share my pdf printer settings with my clients such as fonts, color management, page sizes, all in one file so i dont have to set up all manually and i need to send it to them by an email.
so far i found i could create a .joboptions file, but i wasnt able to specify exact page sizes i used. i could specify these sizes in 'adobe pdf page size' option on "adobe pdf settings" tab, but i need to store it all in one file, so client will just simply add this file somewhere and will be able to print in the way we dealt. is this possible? or is there another option how to do something like that? or where are page sizes stored in case i'll be forced to send them two files - one with joboptions, second one with page sizes?

The job options can be shared. But page size settings are in Windows a part of the printer driver settings itself, stored in Windows separately in no obvious location (variable registry keys according to number of printers, I think).

I want to set default printer settings to be used only for a specific type of application, certain documents. All other print jobs should use a different default setting for the printer.

I am printing a specific document from a web based application. This document need to be printed in landscape. So I would like to set the default settings for this specific printer to landscape. But for all other printers it should be portrait. But this does not seem to work. The browser picks the settings from the standard/default printer and uses this for all print jobs.

How to set PDF Job option using FDK11?

Hi,
I have a tool to convert Framebook into PDF and this works good. But the generated pdf is not of the same size as it is generated through FrameMaker Save as PDF. With the FrameMaker API, I get a dialog box to choose the different PDF Job options available. I came across a similar provision with FDK which also has a property to set the PDF Job options but it doesnt work as expected. Please correct me if my approach is wrong.

As far as I know, the only way to specify PDF options is by programmatically displaying the PDF Options dialog (via WinAPI calls), "selecting" the options and "pressing" the OK button. There have been numerous discussions on this topic on the Yahoo frame_dev group ..

You may be able to set the options as you're doing, but I don't think they are "set" until you display the dialog and "press" the OK button.

Change printer settings using print management

I have deployed some printers using 'Print Management' in Windows 2012. My users see the printer. By default, 'paper size' is set to 'letter'. I want to change it to 'A4'.
I went to 'print management' tool on the print server. There I changed the format to 'A4'. I have right clicked the printer and I have chosen 'deploy with group policy'.
Unfortunately, the paper size is still set to 'letter'. Also after 'gpupdate /force' and computer restart.
Any ideas?

Printer settings are not pushed to clients. the only way to get the default settings from the server is to unmap and remap the network printer. this allows user to locally adopt the settings to their likings. A workaround that is often impelmented is
have the logon scritp rempa all network printers.

I have a template created using FM 7. I have converted those templates into FM8 and then created a book. When I try to save the book as PDF, it gives the following error (in .txt format):

When I converted these FM8 files into FM7 and generated a book, I was able to save as PDF. I am able to save the individual FM8 files (using FM7 template) into PDF files.
Why am I not able to save the book as PDF, when I use FM7 template in FM8?

This problem was fixed in FM8.0p266. You are probably using the original release of FM8.0 (FM8.0p236).
Please update your version (Help > Updates), then try saving as PDF again.

How do I set my printer settings for a Canon Pixma MX870?

I have installed and updated the drivers.
It currently prints out coloured, one sided pages. I prefer two sided, B&W quick print settings.
I need a step by step run through on were to find these settings.
On my Brother's PC he has 'Canon My Printer' which is were he set up the setting for his computer. It was not on the instualtion disc for the printer and I can't seem to find the download on the Canon website.
Im on OS X Lion 10.7.4.

I knew that was going to be an issue. Renaming the audio files. To change the name of an audio file do it within the project. You want to go to the media bin. where your audio files are. _WITH IN THE PROJECT_. You can just double click on them and rename them. and yes be very name specific. so no audio file ever has a chance to have the same name.
The audio files in the bin are in there own separate folders. You want to rename the folder that contains the audio file to, eg, Mary had a little lamb kick drum take 752. The renamed audio file folder will reflect in the timeline and in your project audio folder. But now the audio file can have a different name than the folder, the next is least important, but you may just want your track to be called Kick. So you can double click on the track header and give it a name kick. then you can right click on the audio in the timeline of the corresponding track and select, Track names to regions. Now the track name, the region within the timeline, and the region within the Mary had a little lamb kick drum take 752 folder within the bin will have the name kick. but wait there's more, lol. just kidding.
So maybe the case is now that you don't really want to put all audio files from all songs in one folder, just all audio files from one song into one folder right.
This way each song has its own folder containing the audio. This is standard practice. Its just a given when you create a project.

HELP - How can I default PDF printing to use Custom Scale 97%?

We just upgraded an old computer to new hardware. The old machine automatically defaulted all PDFs to print to Custom Scale 97%. Because of our letterhead it's critical that this value remain defaulted to prevent wasting large amounts of stock. How can we default this setting again in Reader XI?

As an update, I got this working on my local machine. Unfortunately it isn't taking on the print machine yet. I made the following registry changes:
bprintExpandToFit (1)
bprintSetPageSize (97)
bprintScaling (2)
Locally it works using version 11.0.06. The print machine keeps re-setting the registry values however.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Want to save multiple printer settings using an OfficeJet 8600 and Windows7

I recently bought an OfficeJet 8600 to replace an old OfficeJet L7590. I'm dismayed to discover that the new 8600 does not have the ability to save multiple print configurations. Using the L7590, I was able to combine paper size, orientation, print quality, colour/B&W setting, duplex, etc. and save with a custom name. It was then easy to select from a range of preset configurations each time I printed. Now, on the 8600, I have to dig three layers into the menu and individually set each one of the options - EVERY TIME I PRINT! It seems that Mac users still have the ability to save configurations, at least in a limited way, but not Windows users. What gives?

The default settings can be set as follows: Click Start, Devices and Printers, right click on the Officejet 8600 and select "Printing Preferences". Make the changes you would like and Apply.
The L7590 driver is likely compatible with the Officejet 8600, you could also just install the L7590 driver and change the "port" settings to point at the 8600. You could then use the features you like... Post back here if you want to try this out, I could provide more details.

Facing issue in PDF print on using Guided Navigation Link on dashboard

Hi,
I am facing one issue on using Guided Navigation Link on dashboard.
I have created one Guided Nav. Link on dashboard and renamed it as "RAW DATA".
It was working fine.It is coming as RAW DATA link and when I am clicking on the link it is drilling down.
Till now it is working fine and good.
But in Printer friendly option of dashboard when I am selecting PDF option( To save it as PDF) it was showing text "Guided Nav Link 1" instead of "RAW DATA" in the downloaded pdf.
Please give me some solution.

Try this:
1) Drag Guid. Nav. Link to dashboard in a new section.
2) Click on properties of the Guid. Nav. Link object.
3) For the source request, click on browse and navigate to the report.
4) In the Link Properties, check the "Use Dashboard Oject name as link object" checkbox and click "OK."
5) Click on the Rename button of the Guid. Nav. Link object.
6) Type in the name you wish to appear in the link and click "OK."
When you click on Print>PDF, the name of the link will appear in the pdf instead of "Guid. Nav Link 1."

Trying to set up printer sharing using WRT54G2

After reading the forum I have not been able to find a solution or very dated answers so sorry if this is already answered...
ConfigurationL
- Cable modem as internet access point
- Cisco WRT54G2 (firmware 1.0.04) behind the cable modem to host my home network
- devices attached:
    - Denon Stereo set (hardwired to WRT)
    - PC running vista SP2 (harwired to WRT)
    - Laptop running windows 7 (wireless)
- Printer attached to the PC
What is working
- I can access my PC from my TV/Stereo in the living room for audio sharing
- I can access the internet from all locations
- Printer sharing on PC is setup correctly. I am able to print when replacing the WRT
What is NOT working
- Connection from my (wireless) laptop to my (wired) PC and v.v. This means no file sharing, no printer sharing no nothing.
Some testing:
- PC: ping to WRT works
- PC: ping to laptop works on IP address and hostname
- laptop: ping to WRT works
- laptop: ping to my DENON (wired) stero set works
- PC: ping to my DENON (wired) stero set works
- laptop: ping to PC fails on IP address and hostname
Since this is basic network functionality I guess I have done something wrong but after looking at all the configuration itmes in the router, reading the forum I am not able to detect my problem.

The Workgroup in the wireless laptop and the wired computer should be same and file sharing should be enable on both the computer.The Security firewall should be set to "trust" the network.
