Setting up bluetooth

I am trying to setup my bluetooth on my FOrd with the Droid X.  Everytime I try to key in the code number into the Droid from the Ford sync process, the phone accepts 2 digits and quits.  How do I get the phone to sync with the bluetooth.

Welcome to the forum ..  probably would have been better to start a new thread rather than this one that was marked as solved. But anyway, let's see if we can help you ...
We probably need a bit more info.  I assume you were able to activate Bluetooth on your DROID X ? But you're saying that when you turn on your "BlueAnt" (whatever that is) you're not seeing it "PAIR" with your DROID X ???
Do you have your manual for your BlueAnt device?  There should be a procedure to UNPAIR it and  then PAIR it again ... Some even have a 4 digit Code that you must enter on the initial pairing -- usually "0000" ... did you see that prompt on the DX during the Pairing process?  Bluetooth has been pretty simple & reliab;e for me on my DX ... I have the MotoRockr S505  headset and it works just fine.  Let us know ...  good luck.

  • Have to "Set up Bluetooth Device" for wireless trackpad and keyboard almost every day

Almost every day when I turn on my MacBook Air in my home office, my Apple wireless keyboard and trackpad do not automatically reconnect. They used to connect just fine when I was in the viscinity, but now (for the past 6 months or so) I almost always have to:
Bluetooth > Set up Bluetooth Device
Turn off the keyboard (hold down the power button for several seconds)
Turn the keyboard back on (hold down power button for several seconds)
    Go through the setup wizard
    Repeat for the trackpad
    Things that don't work:
Pressing the button on each Bluetooth device
    Restarting each Bluetooth device
    Turning Bluetooth on and off
Setting the Bluetooth devices as "Favorites"
Selecting the device from the Bluetooth menu item and clicking "Connect"
    Rebooting my MacBook Air
    Resetting  the NVRAM / PRAM
Once the device is connected for the day, I do appear to be able to "Disconnect" and then "Connect" again from the Bluetooth menu item. The devices will also automatically reconnect by pressing a button on them. It just appears to lose the "lease" on them or whatever after a little less than a day.
I'm trying to think of other troubleshooting steps I could take and it just occurred to me that I could try swapping them with the peripherals I use at work (which are possibly newer models, but otherwise identical). Any other suggestions?

Huzzah! Less than 1 week after finally getting fed up and posting this question, I have discovered the root cause - my wife had been inadvertently stealing my keyboard and mouse connection whenever she turned on her laptop! She's using my hand-me-down MacBook Pro which I thought I had reset, but apparently it remembered its Bluetooth connections.
I had suspected something similar since I occasionally used the wireless keyboard with my iPad, but had already ruled that out.
I can't believe I figured this out after 6 months of mild frustration, but just days after posting this question

  • Can you use 2 sets of bluetooth headphones at the same time with the Ipad 4?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I can use 2 sets of bluetooth headphones at the same time with the Ipad?
It is so my children can watch a film or listen to music together.
    Thanks

    No

  • Can I pair and use more than one set of bluetooth speakers at the same time on my ipod touch 4.0

can I pair and use more than one set of bluetooth speakers at the same time on my ipod touch 4.0 or Iphone 4s or Ipad 2?

You can only connect to one device at a time using Bluetooth, See article below for more information.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1664
While your iOS device can maintain multiple pairing records, it can only connect to one headset or hands-free device at a time. This prevents your iOS device from sending your data to the wrong Bluetooth accessory.

  • Magic Trackpad - no "set up bluetooth trackpad" option in preferences

Just bought a magic trackpad, updated to 10.6.4, laptop finds the magic trackpad (verified by looking at bluetooth panel), but I can't set it up/ connect. When I go to the trackpad section in preferences, the option that the instruction manual talks about just isn't there ("Click "set up bluetooth trackpad..." in the lower right corner", p.4 of the manual). Lower right corner is empty...
Maybe I'm missing something here? I know it's finding it, but no connect-ability... Interestingly the keyboard section of preferences does have a setup bluetooth keyboard option.
Have all the relevant updates to 10.6.4. been made?

My apple store purchased trackpad also had misleading instructions. Why it couldn't reference the exact download location for the software is a mystery. What, they couldn't have come up with a URL in advance? Sheesh! Worse, going to Apple.com/Downloads and searching on Trackpad reveals Windows 32- and 64-bit installers but no MacOSX installer!
Fortunately I eventually found the link in this forum. I'm no newbie; Apple made the MacOSX trackpad update impossible to find. Hopefully some Apple staffer will read this and fix the download search, or better yet, get the update pushed out the auto-update path.

  • Why doesn't my bluetooth menu give me the option to "Set Up Bluetooth Device"?

Computer: 13.3 in Macbook Pro (2012)
I just bought a new bluetooth mouse (Gear Head Optical Mouse for Mac Computer).  The instruction manual tells me to click on the Bluetooth icon at the top right of my screen and click on "Set Up Bluetooth Device".  But when I tried that, my bluetooth pull down menu only gives me limited options, none which includes "Set Up Bluetooth Device". (see attached image)
I've already tried restarting my computer, going through the Bluetooth Preferences, and trying to connect via Mouse in System Preferences.  Does anyone have any ideas on where I might be doing something wrong or if I need to install anything additional?  Any help is appreciated!!

Following are instructions from help in the Bluetooth Preferences:
Make sure the device you’re setting up has charged batteries and is turned on.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Keyboard, Mouse, or Trackpad. If you’re setting up a mouse or trackpad, follow the onscreen instructions. When your mouse or trackpad is discovered, it automatically pairs with your Mac.

  • Lost ability to set up bluetooth devices

I'm running OS X 10.9.4 on my iMac. I have a Bluetooth keyboard which pairs at startup without problem. I also have a Bluetooth device for my hearing aids (UDirect2 from Unitron) which should allow me to stream the sound from my Mac wirelessly via this device to my hearing aids. When I first got the device I successfully paired it and got it to work. For a while it appeared in the list of Bluetooth items in the dropdown Bluetooth menubar menu, but it's disappeared from the list. I haven't been able to stream computer audio to my hearing aids since it disappeared.
Everything I've seen tells me I need to choose the "Set up Bluetooth Device"  menu option. But that option has disappeared from my Bluetooth menu. It's also not present on the Bluetooth menu I can get to through System Preferences. I know it used to be there, because I've used it before, but not since I updated the OS. Online help refers to the Bluetooth Setup Assistant, but there is no item on my computer by that name, and the Apple site after referring to it simply shows the Preferences pane, which does not include the "Set up Bluetooth Device" command on it--at least on my computer.
Is there something I'm missing? How can I get the setup command back?
The UDirect 2 pairs successfully with my iPhone and streams sound from it, so I know it's working. It rests in its charging cradle when I'm not actually using it and its power light shows it's fully charged.
    It is turned on.

Same here. I've just had a replacement iPhone and I have been into the bluetooth settings to pair it with my MacBook. But I couldn't find the setup bluetooth device option anywhere. Going to the folder Eric mentioned above works, but I'm curious to know where the correct link has gone?

  • HT4111 while using my aftermarket (Brookstone) IPAD 2 key board the circular search icon never stops moving (setting tab, "Bluetooth" connect)...is that because the Bluetooth is always in the "search" mode while the keypad is in use?

This is the same experience I see with both my iPad and iPhone.  Doesn't seem to cause battery drain, so I just don't worry about it.  My bluetooth devices work and if yours do as well, just don't worry about it.

  • Set Up Bluetooth Mouse does not discover magic mouse

Had been having difficulty with magic mouse randomly exhibiting eratic scrolling so went into system preferences to reset the mouse settings (may have happened when upgraded to snow leopard). Under Bluetooth, mouse is paired and on but when i went into mouse settings and tried to use Set Up Bluetooth Mouse (I changed settings to enable two finger scrolling) mouse is not found. BTW there is a USB mouse connected, which I did when the eratic problems started.

    Hello:
Try resetting the PRAM and SMC.
I am not sure what would happen if both the Bluetooth and USB mice were connected at the same time......

  • HELP! Try to set up bluetooth using a D-link 120 on a Dual 1.8 G5

I have just got a Apple bluetooth keyboard and am trying to pair it to my dual 1.8 G5 using a D-Link 120 USB adapter. I have search the forms for hours trying to see if I can find the answer with no luck...
Here is what seems to be taking place.
Plug in D-link 120 USB Adapter, power on keyboard, open bluetooth setting set-up assistant, select keyboard as my device, it shows that it sees the Apple keyboard and I click continue, gives me a passkey number to type in and hit return and say it should pair but after 45-sec. I get "Pairing attempt unsuccessful"... what could I be doing wrong?
I am new to bluetooth and my goal is after pairing it to the D-Link 120 adapter I will move the D-link to my IOGEAR KVMP switch and plug it into the USB port where the keyboard plugs into so I can use it with both my Macs (this G5 and a new Mini i have connected to the KVMP... if possible?)
I understand that I might not get it to work with my KVMP (I have read that others have used this adapter with a KVMP) but right now I cannot even get it to work with my G5 like it says it can?
Any assistance that I can get with this would be helpful! please keep in mind that i am new to bluetooth so please try and keep an possible solutions low-tech.

i steered away from the USB adapters for bluetooth... i tried one from best buy that was 1/2 the $ of the d-link 120... had crazy problems happen?!?! i actually had USB components drop out on me! i use eyeTV and every time i tried to use the bluetooth it disappeared?!!? i assumed it was pulling too much power through the USB ports and subsequently the other devices got dropped due to lack of power...
i was told the d-link was the best one for our macs, but i never tried it again... i want to get an airport card with the bluetooth adapter on it... you can find them on line and peeps in these forums have posted links for them (can't remember where at the moment).
japamac uses it and has no problems... maybe he can chime in and help!

try that and look for your mac...

  • Setting up Bluetooth HotSync - Palm Centro, Windows 7, 64 bit

A couple of days ago I posted on here trying to figure out how to HotSync my Palm Centro with my new computer that has Windows 7 (64 bit).  I followed the instructions - had to go and buy a Bluetooth Adapter for the computer - and went through the instructions from the sticky that was pointed out to me in my original question.  I'm to the point where I'm trying to set up the phone to do a Bluetooth HotSync but when it's searching for computers it doesn't find any...
HELP!!!!! What do I need to do now.  It may take me a couple of days to get back if anyone answers this quickly because I have a very hectic weekend but any and all advice is appreciated.  Thanks.

  • How to set iPhone Bluetooth to be just for phone calls?

Is there a way to setup an iPhone 4s/5, iOS 6, to use the bluetooth only for phone calls?
I don't want music, youtube, google maps, or any app to go thru my car speakers. Phone calls work fine because the car will switch to Bluetooth audio automatically for those. I usually have my car audio set to radio so no apps are audible in the car unless I manually switch the car to Bluetooth Audio but then I can't listen to the radio.

The only way around this, depending on the car system,
is connect the iPhone to the unit via USB.
At least with my Ford SYNC system, I can pair via
Bluetooth and connect the USB and select USB audio
on the Ford unit and in the Music app on the iPhone.
Doing this, all phoner functions go via Bluetooth and
    everything else is over USB.
Perhaps your car system supports something similar
or not.  If it doesn't, there is nothing you can do.

  • Setting up Bluetooth DUN with two devices?

    Quick question:
I have two phones with data plans (one work, one personal) and both support mac tethering via bluetooth and I have tethering plans with both. They have different coverage areas. How do I set up 10.6 so that I can choose which device to connect to and it'll just work to get me online? First I tethered device A, and device A worked. Then when I went to configure device B for tethering as well, configuring device B overwrote everything and device A no longer worked. So I re-setup device A to tether and then device A worked, but device B no longer would. Help?
    Device A: AT&T BlackBerry 8900
    Device B: T-Mobile BlackBerry 9700
Computer: MacBook running the latest release of 10.6
Latest version of BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac installed.
If someone could even just point me in the direction of a how-to on tethering multiple devices, I could probably extrapolate from there to tethering multiple BlackBerrys. I'm pretty tech savvy, I just have no previous experience with Bluetooth DUN configuration and Apple's online manuals are.... um... lacking in this topic area.

If I read this correctly, you need to add the device as a separate connection. The little + icon at bottom left in System Preferences > Network will allow you to do this. Then when you connect, you may need to select that specific connection. Also adding a location (instead of Automatic) may also effect this easily. That way, the two iPhones are isolated from each other.

  • Imac clock needs to be set and bluetooth doesn't remember ethernet connection

My Imac is less than 2 years old.  Upon startup, I am getting the error message "You computer's clock is set to a date before Jan 1, 2008.  This may cause some applications to behave erratically."  It also doesn't remember which ethernet connection it had last in the bluetooth menu.  I have to choose it everytime.  What's wrong with my mac?  Is it the battery?  If so, why is this happening now when I've only owned the machine (purchased brand new) less than 2 years?  Could it be something else?

I HAD this problem with my Power Mac G5. The "before date" was different and my date and time were correct in the menu bar! The message appeared on December 16, 2011 and on January 16, 2012. Then on January 21 I pressed the button to turn the g5 on. The light came on then went out. SILENCE.  I tried again but NOTHING. I didn't do the SMU thing as I assumed it was the power supply which I had allready replaced once (in about 2007). I hope it wasn't just a battery, because I had the hard drive put in a cradle and am about to gut the G5 so I can use that beautiful case for something else! Did you ever figure it out?

  • How to set up Bluetooth with iPhone and computer

    Hi there.
I am now the proud owner of a brand new iPhone 3GS 32GB and I'm in love...
I'm trying to set it up with Bluetooth. I used to be able to "Bluetooth" files to and from my computer with other mobile devices but I have difficulties with the iPhone. It won't connect. Anybody knows what I need to do? Cheers.

The iPhone _does not_ support Bluetooth file transfer. You must use the USB cable for syncing, or there are file transfer/storage apps in the App Store (Files, File Magnet, Air Sharing, there are lots) that use Wi-Fi.
On the iPhone, Bluetooth is limited to voice calls, music streaming to stereo headphones, and tethering (using the phone as a cellular modem). Tethering requires carrier support - O2 and Orange support it, Tesco does not.
