SF 300-24P uplink problem
Dear Team,
We bought a cisco POE Switch (Cisco SF 300-24P) from a reseller before two months, and we are facing a problem when we connect just an uplink on Telephone network and it is a standalone network and there is no Vlans connected to this network, the other two switches on this network are LINKSYS SRW224P (Old Product), and the problem is when we dial from POE phones like Linksys SPA922; the tone gone and we can’t hear the one who we are calling and he don’t hear us, but when we disconnect this uplink cable from the Switch above every things come back normal.
Please advise.
Many thanks
it would be good to see a topology of your network to help troubleshooting.
is the uplink between your switches? if so, you could have a loop in your network,
do all the activity lights light up on your switches whan you plug in the uplink?
Verify all the cables between the switches and make sure you don't have a loop,
virtual server hosts with multiple nics, unmanaged switches and hubs can also cause this.
You can also look in the logs to see if there are spanning tree errors, or
look at spanning tree status to see if there are ports that have a 'blocked' state, that would indicate spanning tree has shut down a port,
if the uplink is to the telephone network... is this an analog line?
you say standalone network, so I assume it's not an ethernet cable...

SG-300 28P switches problem with VLAN Data and Voice, working all the time as Voice VLAN
Hi Everyone,
Thank you very much for your help in advance. I’m pulling my hair to fix the problem.
I just got the new SG-300 28P switches. My Bios ordered for me. I did not know how it runs until now... not an IOS based. I really do not know how to configure it.
I have 2 VLAN are Data and Voice.
- Data VLAN ID is 2 IP 192.168.2.X/255.255.255.0
- Voice VLAN ID is 200 IP 192.168.22.X/255.255.255.0
- I created two vlans, in switch, Data and Voice.
- On the port number 28, it is trunk by default, so I add Data vlan ID 2 tagged.
- On the port number 26, it is trunk by default, so I add Voice vlan ID 200 tagged.
- On the port number 27, I add Data vlan ID 2 tagged for Data vlan out.
- Port settings No.1
I set it up as Trunk with Data vlan 2 untagged, and 200 Tagged (voice vlan). I plugged in a phone with a pc attached. But the PC will get to the vlan 200 to get the DHCP address, but no from vlan 2. The Phone works with correct vlan ip.
- Port settings No.2
Trunk with vlan 1UP, 2T, and 200T. The phone is even worse. Would never pick up any IP from DHCP.
- Port settings No.3
Access with 200U...of course the phone will work... and the PC could not get to its own vlan. Instead, the PC got an ip from the voice vlan. Not from VLAN 2.
I have Linksys phone I’m not sure if this help.
For more information I setup in switch,
- enable voice vlan
- set the port on auto voice vlan
- enable LLDP-MED globally
- create a network policy to assign VLAN 200
- assign this network policy to the port the phone is connected to.
I hope this information help to help me to setup Data and Voice vlans, to plug the phone to work with vlan Voice 200 (IP rang 192.168.22.X), from phone to Pc and pc work as Data vlan 2 (IP rang 192.168.2.X).I just got done setting up voice VLANs on an SF 300-24P and verified working. This was working with Cisco 7900 series phones connected to a Cisco UC setup.
Here's my sample config.
Note that I edited this by hand before posting, so doing a flat out tftp restore probably won't work. However, this should give you a clue. Also, don't take this as 100% accurate or correct. I've only been working with these things for about a week, though I've worked with the older Linksys SRW switches for a couple of years. I'm a CCNP/CCDP.
VLAN 199 is my management VLAN and is the native VLAN on 802.1q trunks.
VLAN 149 is the data/computer VLAN here.
VLAN 111 is the voice/phone VLAN here.
VLAN 107 does nothing.

Hi guys,
I recently upgraded the firmware of an SF 300 24p PoE switch using the GUI.
But I was wondering if the same task could be done using the CLI so the task could be scripted for bulk operations.
So far, it doesn't seem to support deleting files from flash memory properly (squeeze doesn't seem to exist), as well as other things.
Am I simply missing something or is it something that just can't be done?
Thanks in advance.Hi Wim, if your switches are running the original firmware 1.0.0.27, there is not a faster way to manage this.
I haven't played with this aspect in a while but the file names are very simple If my memory served me correctly you can't just delete the images or boot code.
As example the firmware images are labeled as image1 or image2, boot is called boot.
Here's the CLI guide
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/csbms/sf30x_sg30x/administration_guide/CLI_300_1_2_5.pdf
You can find the syntax for copy operations around page 146/147.
If you're already on the 1.2.7.76 firmware you may also use SCP
Here's the admin guide
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/csbms/sf30x_sg30x/administration_guide/78-19308-01.pdf
The SCP option requires a SCP server. I'm not sure if that's a good option for you.

Mounting Brackets (SG 200-26P & SF 300-24P)
Looking for mounting brackets for the SG 200-26P & SF 300-24P. Lost the originals and can't seem to find a new set anywhere online.
I don't think this could be ordered as a spare.
Look if you could find something similar in a local market, following are the measurements: -
Differences between SF 300-24P and SF 300-24MP??
Hello all,
First post here, very excited!
On to my question as I cannot seem to find specifics on this.
Besides the MP having support for PoE+, does the 24P have a full 24-port PoE budget or only 12 ports at a time?
What other differences between the two.
I currently have 10 APs plugged into a SF 300-24P and want to add 10 more. PoE consumption is around 3500mW for each AP.
Thanks,
PasqualeHi and welcome to the forum.
According to the data sheet, all 24 ports support POE.
have a look at table-1 in this link (under power over Ethernet) section:

Uplink problems from UCS 6128 FI
Hi,
We have one demo UCS system. It was working pretty smoth, we take it to few presentations etc etc.
Few days we cleaned system, and decided to reconfigure and deploy.
Overview :
Cisco UCS blade chasis, 2 b200m2 servers with VIC adapters, 2x6128 FI.
Uplinks are only 1 Gb and GLC-T modules are used for uplinks.
Problem now is that as soon as i configure port as uplink and configure it for 1 Gbps, port changes to admin down, and no connections to upper switches are available.
We decided to upgrade to latest software and now is 2.0(4a). Conection from VIC, through IOM and to server ports is ok, but uplinks are still not working.
Upper switch c2950 has ports that connects to ucs as trunk, everything as usual.
Just to clarfy, this exact setup was active before and working.
Errors from UCS are :

Any idea? Everything is connected as before, it used to work flawless.well, server ports are up. I know this is uplink ports problem, but really cannot see where the problem is :). Ports on northbound switch that ucs connects to are trunk ports, vlans are defined on that switch.
I also suspect sfp's (cisco glc-t) but it seems pretty strange that 2 sfp modules are malfunctioning. They used to work pretty neat.
Just to mention we have same UCS in production and it is working, config is same, ports are same, nxos outputs for ethernet uplinks are same..
Just to check somenthing i created two hba's (we do have FC expansion card, but ucs is not connected to FC switches), and vif paths for FC are up...seems that this is releated to ethernet problem solely. -
SF 200-24P - Rebooting Problem??
Hi All
I have a SF 200-24P Cisco switch that seems to be rebooting constantly, When i connect it to mains power it seems to go through a startup cycle, in this order - i have tried this with no network devices attached and the same thing happens
1. Fan starts - continously runs
2. Very quick flash of all RJ45 ports.
3. After about 30 seconds, any network devices connected have an acticity light
4. After about another 45 seconds, all ports light up including the activity and POE orange LEDs for about 5- 10 seconds then go off.
5. About 10 seconds later the ports all light up again and stay on for about 5 seconds.
6. All ports go off and the cycle keeps repeating continously.
I have tried pinging the switch without success.
I have also tried disconnecting all devices from each port with no success.
At no time does the system LED on the left light up.
I have tried resetting to factory default with reset pot on the left side.
This is a brand new shipped switch from our cisco supplier, could it be DOA?
If required i can make a video of this sequence so you can ascertain what the problem could be.
Thanks in advanceHi Luke,
Yep, if you have a concern about DOA, it could be easier to have a chat with your disti partner . If it is DOA they should quickly replace that product.
You also have the option of ringing the good folk at Small Business Support Center (SBSC) they also should diagnose any error and arrange a RMA.
With the 300 series product there is a option to interupt the startup and upgrade the software incase it is just a flash issue or software corruption. With the 200 series you do not have that option. If the product was stable for a couple of minutes, i would have tried a software upgrade. But working in conjuction with either Disti or SBSC you will come to a satisfactory resolution. Thank you for your purchase and sorry that this first experience isn't what we would have hoped for.
here is the contact details for SBSC;

SF 300-24P 24-Port 10/100 PoE - Video is not working smoothly
Hi,
We installed SF-300 24 ports that connected to our network and we connected 20 IP cameras to it. In the Giga ports we connected Video Server.
In the same Vlan but on another switch we connected 2 PC's that can monitor all the 20 IP cameras. Everything worked fine until we had electricity outage.
After that break the monitoring working very bad. The video streaming is not working smooth and it is working with some breaks. I reloaded the switch and everything was back to normal. Can someone send me any suggestions how to configure cameras and how to configure the servers on the port switch? Do I need to enable the smartport option?
Thanks,
ReuvenHi Reuven, If everything was working as expected and then you had a network event such as a power failure where new symptoms arised, I do not believe this is a configuration issue unless you lost configuration settings. Is that the case? The switch lost configuration?
Having power issues has a funny way of making things have problems. One thing you may want to try to do is isolate your problem to every camera. Do all 20 cameras have an issue or just a few? Is there any symptoms if you disconnect the cameras one at a time?
If all 20 cameras have a problem, I'd recommend to make a back up of your switch and then factory reset the unit as it is possible the power issue caused some sort of corruption in the software.

Blur video frame with NI PCI-1411 and JAI CV M-300 camera (urgent problem)
Hello,
I am new with Vision and I need some advice with a problem, which I encountered.
I have a computer with integrated NI PCI-1411 board, which is connected to a JAI CV M-300 camera. I am measuring a steel part which is positioned in a dark chamber. The part is put on a glass board and is illuminated from underneath with light.
The part is moving. I have to measure this part when it reaches the camera region. I have made a test with not-moving part and everything is perfect. Now, when I move the part I get blur frames from video (with these no part measurement is possible). I need specify, that the camera has no trigger, so it makes video all the time (this video is later inspecting with Vision Builder).
I have tried to change parameters in MAX, but no involvement. I have found no proper icd/file for the camera.
I also could use a SONY DXC-950P camera, if this is better.
How can I eliminate the blur from video frames? Or what am I doing wrong? Is the camera not good enough? Camera + trigger would get better images.
I have attached the video frame with moving object (static) and the blur video frame with moving object (dynamic).
Please give me a answer or ideas as soon as possible.
Thanks.

dinamic.jpg 421 KBYou are using an interlaced camera. It takes half the picture (every other line), waits a split second, then takes the other half of the picture (the other lines). When it puts the two images together, you can see the two positions it was in when the images were taken.
The best solution is to use a non-interlaced or progressive scan camera, which takes the entire image at one time. The Sony might be this type of camera, since it has a P in its name. I didn't look up the specs.
If you can't get the right kind of camera, your only other option is to use fields instead of frames. One field is the half image taken at one time. The image will be half the height of the original image, though, which can mess things up.
Another possibility is the reduce the resolution of the image. If you take every other pixel in both directions, you will have a very clear image that is half the size of the original. You can do this with Extract in LabVIEW, not sure if it is available in VBAI.

I captured some footage from an XL 2 at 24p using the advanced pulldown. The audio slips out of sync over time when in FCP. It even goes out of sync during playback in the viewer window. However, the footage plays back properly when I open the original Quicktime file off of my Video HD. The problem started when I updated to FCP 5.1.3 but I updated to 5.1.4 and the problem persists.
Has anyone else run into this problem?I didn't think the XL 2 could do advance pulldown? You may want to check that it is doing what you think it is.
Sounds like your sequence may be set at 29.97 while your clip is running at 23.97.
This article may help your understanding.

Hi there. If anyone who can help me with this issue I would greatly appreciate it.
Ok so I am using a Panasonic DVX100a and shot a bunch of footage. I shot it in 24p advanced. I'm using Adobe Premiere CS4 and captured the footage via firewire into a DV 24p sequence. I'm able to edit it fine but am having sever problems with the picture quality. here's what's going on:
1. My first issue is that everywhere I've looked online, everyone says you need to interpret footage and remove 24p pulldown BEFORE you drag clips to the timeline, otherwise it's too late. BUT, I started editing my footage and only after a few hours found out I needed to interpret the footage and remove pulldown. So I did this to the captured footage, and it effected the clips in my timeline, contradictory to what everyone has said about how you must do it before putting clips onto the timeline. Not a big deal, but I'm just wondering why it did this (maybe I have an update other people don't have?)
2. I did a render test to see exactly what removing the 24p pulldown was doing and when I played the rendered clip back on Windows Media Player and VLC, with the 24p pulldown removed I have horrible interlacing, but with it NOT removed I have no interlacing but do have jittery footage. I understand that 24p will be jittery but this looks REALLY jittery. Again, this seems backwards to what I've read about how you need to remove pulldown in order to remove interlacing.
3. With 24p pulldown not removed, I render the file as an MPEG with everything turned up - bitrate and quality. I set the frame rate to 24. When I play it back on VLC it looks decent but not very good. I ultimately want to upload this footage to Youtube so I want it to look nice but I understand it might not look phenominal. Is there a recommended render setting I should use?
I maybe screwed myself by shooting in 24p advanced but instead of blowing it off and just shoting 30i next time I really want to learn the specifics of 24p advanced so I can use it properly in future projects. If anyone knows the answer to these problems, I would be grateful to hear them. Thanks.I *kinda* solved my problem. Not really. I went through my footage, frame by frame, and when it's interlaced, only the 4th frame is interlaced. the other 3 frames are progressive frames. This is in 24pa. Anyways, when i captured my footage, I captured one long file. I then chopped the long file into small "scenes" to move around the timeline. What''s wierd is that if I interpret footage to my one long, captured file and remove 24p pulldown, ir removes the interlaced frames on some of my scenes and PUTS IN interlaced frames in other scenes. You would think since it's one long, captured file, that by interpretting the footage and removing the 24p pulldown it would effect the all clips evenly. But no, it doesn't. When I don't check the remove pulldown box, then the clips that didn't have interlaced frames now do, and the ones with interlaced frames don't have them anymore. It's wierd - it's like Premiere is automatically removing the pulldown on some parts of my captured video file but not others. Does this make sense? Has anyone else experienced this??

Having choppy 24p motion problems.
Thanks for any info anyone might have on this.
I have a show open motion graphic sequence for a long running video series that has previously been produced in standard def NTSC and is now going HD.
It's a straight to Bluray/DVD instructional show.
The show is being shot in 1080/24p and the authoring house is insisting we deliver the final show 1080/24p (23.976 of course).
Unfortunately part of this open contains video clips floating right to left across the screen along with other graphic elements perfectly perpendicular to the screen and the motionit's is
strobing like crazy in 24p. This is not some kind of field type artifact, but just the problem of horizontal motion in 24p.
I have tried turning on motion blur and that helps some but due to the speed of the movement the video clips and graphic elements become very
blurry. I have tried adjusting the 3D camera shutter angle and of course can reduce the blur but that then increases the choppy motion problems.
I have told the producer I would be happy to make them a new open that avoided this problem but they are insistent they want to keep this one.
Does anyone have any workarounds on this?
How would this be done for graphics used in a feature film that would need to be 24p?
Note: I am rendering this out for use in Avid Media Composer 6.
Thanks! If your motion is at or near a critical speed then you have only one choice, change the speed. Take a look at this article. You may get some ideas. In my cinematographers handbook there's a chart of must avoid panning speeds. That's what you are getting with your horizontal movement. Unfortunately the only remedy is to change the speed of the move. You have to get it as close as you can to match the rest of the piece (audio, other elements) and then hide the rest with motion blur. Unfortunately, if you are right on a critical speed motion blur won't stop the strobing but it will make it less difficult to look at.
And to answer your question about doing this for a feature film at 24fps... you just have to follow the rules. In the same way a cinematographer must adjust his panning speed you have to adjust your design to the limitations imposed by the frame rate. -
GY HD11U 24p catpure problem still
Hi,
I read the thread about the capture problems with 25p and I posted my question there as well. When I try to capture my footage, I am getting streaming error messages blaming the tape, or chopped up clips with missing media.
Is the only answer to the problem to use the Apples Intermediate HDV Codec?
I am using final cut 5.1.2 trying to capture from the JVC deck footage in 24p that was shot on the GY-HD110U. I really need to edit what I shot, asap.
Any help? Suggestions?
Thank you all for your time and consideration.
Cheers,
SharonAlmost forgot to mention... I was looking to gain real-time benefit. I can drop the m2v files on the timeline and RENDER them, but that defeats the purpose of working with the native m2v files...

Buslink External Drive 300 GB Firewire Problem
I purchased a Buslink 300 GB external drive that has both USB 2.0 and Firewire 400 connection. I use the drive to hold dv files that I have downloaded from my video camera. I formatted the drive for mac because the dv files are larger than the 4gb limit for FAT32. Everthing was fine using the firewire connection until I got to about 140 gb of data on the drive. No further files would copy to the drive. I now have to use the USB connection, and have gone up to 250GB without problem. I like the performance of the firewire connection better than the USB connection.
I formatted the external drive Mac OS Extended into one 279 GB partition. I found nothing on BUSLINK's web site about a driver, is there a fix for this? Is anyone using another external drive with firewire that will work properly to the limit of the drive?
Thank you
G5 Dual 2.3 Mac OS X (10.4.9) 3.5GB ramI have 2 external firewire HDs - both worked prefectly until recently... I am getting Error -36... I have used the Disk Utility - no errors founds. Despite this conclusion, I decided to reformat them both.... and still getting the same error -36... any suggestions?

I have a BEFW11S4 wireless router that I am trying to network with a D-LinkDGS-1005D (Gb switch). I have tried the uplink port from the Linksys and a regular port from the Linksys. I have tried different ports on the D-Link but nothing has worked. Any ideas on my problem?
Hi… I think you need to check the Ethernet cable that you are using. Get a Cross-Over Ethernet Cable. Reduce the MTU on the router and try again. Connect a PC to the switch and assign static IP address on it in the range of the router and try to ping to the router. Reduce the Card speed (link speed and duplex) of the Ethernet adapter on the PC, if needed.
