SG300 configuration backup

I'm looking at the txt file downloaded when I did a backup of my running configuration.  I guess I expected it to look like an IOS configuration.  How can this possibly be a viable backup configuration and how do I get to a txt file that allows me to compare configs without going through multiple GUI screens?

Hello Wayne,
The output you are seeing is not normal for saving your configuration.  The actual config should look very similair to IOS.  This looks more like maybe your browser or A/V software downloaded the HTML code for the web GUI instead of the actual text file the switch was sending you.
Try backing up your config with another browser or PC.  You can also enable SSH/telnet access and login there to do a show run.  You can then copy that output into a text file to use as a backup.
Hope that helps,

  • Configuring Backups in Enterprise Manager 10.2.0.2.0

    Hello,
I am trying to configure backups in Enterprise Manager. Whenever I try to provide the host credentials, I receive the following:
"Connection to host as user Administrator failed: ERROR: Wrong
    password for user"
This machine is a primary domain controller, and therfore has no local accounts. All accounts are through the domain via Active Directory. I came across a plug-in for Enterprise Manager for AD, but it is only for Windows Server 2003. Since I cannot authenticate locally for host credentials, how would I work around this in order to setup a backup schedule? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, this did not seem to resolve the issue, as I still received the error message when attempting to provide the Administrator's credentials. I also added the domain admin to the Log on locally option, but this did nothing as well. Is there something else that I need to put in to the fields when attempting to set up a backup job?

  • Cisco Prime Infra 2.2 + Third Party Inventory and configuration backup

    Hi All,
I am having a doubt related to Cisco prime solution capability to do a discovery and config backup for non-cisco devices.
Requirement is to use Cisco prime to do a discovery, inventory and take configuration backup for non-cisco devices. Is it something possible out of the box ?
If not possible out of the box, is there any method to do that using any custom API ?
Can we monitor 3rd party( Non-cisco) devices using Cisco Prime 2.2 ?

  • CONFIGURE BACKUP OPTIMIZATION ON;

    CONFIGURE BACKUP OPTIMIZATION ON;
above cmd only working on "sbt" type device or it is working also "disk".
    plz. let me know. sir.
    thanx in advance.

    From the docs:
    Requirements for Backup Optimization
Backup optimization is used when the following conditions are true:
The CONFIGURE BACKUP OPTIMIZATION ON command has been run to enable backup optimization.
You run BACKUP DATABASE, BACKUP ARCHIVELOG with ALL or LIKE options, or BACKUP BACKUPSET ALL.
Only one type of channel is allocated, that is, you do not mix channels of type DISK and sbt in the same backup command.

  • Configure backup device in SAP(DB13)

I have installed the ECC 6.0 with SQLServer 2005 ,now I want to
configure the backup device in it. I am using external hdd for backup.
Please suggest me how to configure backup device in SAP(DB13) and
    database level.
where I have to set the parameters for backup device.
    Thanks

    Hi..
You need to configure initSID.sap inside Kernel.
Choose backup device type to disk
    backup_dev_type = disk
    and change backup root directory
    backup_root_dir = < Your_External_HDD_adress>
    e.g. G:/backup/
    Hope it should work....

  • How to configure backup device

    Hii,
I have fresh install 4.7 with sql 2000 database . I want to take backup of my database in other drive . how i will configure this drive .
    thanks & regards
    jagdish

    hi,
you want to take backup using DB13 or from SQL server enterprise manager,
if you want to take backup on network drive the drive must be map and accessible through windows.
configure backup devices on MS SQL Server management Studio,
logon to SQL server management Studio,
under object explorer navigate through server object -> backup devices
create new backup device -- destination file type. give path for your network drive backup folder.

  • What is the cisco ironport C680 and M680 configuration backup file size?

what is the cisco ironport C680 and M680 configuration backup file size?

Size of the XML itself?  That is going to vary based on what you have configured, total lines of code, and # of appliances you may/may not have in cluster.
M680, based on SMA as stand-alone, should be similar --- you are probably looking @ < 1 MB...
Looking @ my test environment, in which I have a nightly cron job set to grab a backup of...

    So, 161115 bytes = .15 MB

  • Cisco prime configuration backup

    Hi There,
In Cisco prime infrastructure there are two places that I can do backup of the WLCs.
    1. Operate -> Configuration Archive & run schedule archive
    2. Administration -> background Task -> Controller Configuration Backup
Can someone tell me what's the different between these two? What would be the issue if I have enable only option 1 not 2? If I want to get the running configuration of the controller to my PC How I would be able to do that?
    Thx
    Sara

An Intelligent Network Management Application doesn't have to depend on most basic tasks for user input.
It should be smart enough to start managing devices for configurations, inventory and Fault Management out of the box, as soon as the devices are added.
Under Mega-Menu like --> Design, Deploy and Operate their are many tasks which are user deployed and as per the network preferences and requirement.
Under Background Tasks we have System Defined Tasks to start many such device management activities by default.
Also, under Background task, you can configure an external TFTP/FTP server to archive the backup of the controllers configuration.
    -Thanks

  • User privilege level for configuration backup with PI 1.2

We have more than 50 devices handling by PI 1.2 (testing) I like to know how to do configuration archiving with user who doesn't have write privilege.
    I tried like this.
username john privilege 6 password cisco
privilege exec level 6 show running-config
    (result) show run --> blank
I tried this user with one of switch in PI 1.2. It did not do configuration backup
    username inout password inout
username inout privilege 15 autocommand show running-config
(result) once logged in, it automatically showed running-config. However when I tried with PI 1.2 with this user (inout). I couldn't do configuration back.

so, my question is this. what is the solution for me to create certain user with read-only privilege while PI 1.2 is able to do configuration archiving ?
    thanks in advance

7.4 MSE code will in fact require an update of Prime 1.2 to 1.3.0.20-
It's pretty easy though and your licenses will still work from the Prime Infra side.
Here's a link to upgrade PI to 1.3
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/net_mgmt/prime/infrastructure/1.3/release/notes/cpi_rn_13.html#wp73605
I personally would go ahead with the upgrade of both:::

  • Bulk configuration backup and command output using script (perl or batch)

    Hi,
Can you please guide me how to run a script to get configuration backup, and/or running a particular command on multiple devices in one go and then get the output in a text file?
It would be very nice, if you could give me a sample (containing the perl/batch configuration, and the step by step on how) to get output of "show version" from multiple (only IOS based) devices....

  • Backup aborted - Configuration Backup Failes

Over the past couple of days, I've started getting the Error "Backup aborted - Configuration backup failed" on 3560/2960 switches and 2900/2800 routers.  Pretty much everything at my primary site and a few devices, but not all, at some of my clients.  What's odd to me is that the devices with the backup failures now have a greyed out "Backup Now" button.  Again that doesn't apply to all, but most devices.

    Hi Shawn,
We saw this same behavior this morning with a test ON100 in the lab. The ON100 may need to run through it's normal scheduled nightly maintenance window before the driver tries the backup and then subseqeuntly enables the Backup Now button within the portal. Please take a look at this customer again on Monday and let us know if the backup succeeded, and if the Backup Now button becomes available again. We are looking into what it will take to issue a fix, as a contingency plan, or until a fix can be deployed, we are looking into controlled periodic monthly reboots of all ON100 which might mitigate issue by clearing the /tmp ramdisk on the devices.

Can anyone suggest what's causing this error and how to resolve it?

I've since discovered the immediate cause of this problem - it was because I was logged in as SYSOPER rather than as SYSDBA. Once I logged back in as SYSDBA, the crash disappeared and the settings were saved successfully.
It'd be nice if the EM trapped this and gave a proper error message rather than crashing within Java, though.

  • Configure backup link

My customer needs to have backup lines for their branch offices. They have installed on each branch office a router (RV042 or TL ER6120 or ASA5505), on each branch office are installed 2 fiber optic transceiver from diferent ISPs. At headquarter they have installed a cisco 892FSP. 892 WAN1 interface is connected to a layer 3 switch (on that switch are connected many Patch cords connected to many ONTs), WAN2 is connected to a catalyst 2960 switch with a SFP connected. Customer needs to have backup link between headquarter and branch offices. Can anyone help on cisco 892 configuration please?

  • WCS - "Configuration Backup" failed. How to debug?

In WCS, the backgroun task "Configuration Backup", to back up configurations from the controllers, is returning a "Backup Failed" message. How do I troubleshoot? Are they detailed logs somewhere, either via the WCS GUI or via the Linux command line?
    thanks,

    Same problem here...
I just upgraded my 3GS to iOS5 and signed into iCloud using my Apple ID...
Every time I click "Back Up Now" in the iCloud preferences on the iPhone, I get "There was a problem completing the backup.  Please try again later."
On my wife's iPhone 4, I just performed a back up and there were no errors.  I tried this also on my wife's iPad 2 and it worked perfectly.
    I have tried the following:
    1. In iTunes, when my phone is connected, I selected "Back up to iCloud" on the summary tab
    2. Reset my phone using the steps in the above post
    3. Deleted the iCloud account on my iPhone and logged in again
    4. Tried to backup from 3 different wireless networks
None of the steps above fixed the issue which has been going on all day for me...
Any other help would be great - thanks!
