Shot video/Android Smartphone. Want to edit/Youtube. Can Premiere Edit?

Shot video on Android Smartphone. Can't view on MS Windows 8. MS store says you can't play back a Android video on Windows 8. Seems rediculous in this day and age. Want to edit for Youtube video. Does Premiere Pro CC handle this? JR

I am only another user, but from reading a LOT of forum messages...
Premiere is designed to work with "real" video from a "real" camera... editing telephone video is very much in the "added... might work, might not work well" category
3gp is listed as a supported format (The PPro tutorial list in message #3 http://forums.adobe.com/message/2276578 has a link to the user guide PDF to download for easy searching) but that does not always mean that it will edit "easily or very well" in actual practice... especially of your specific cell phone video uses a variable frame rate (the iphone uses vfr and does NOT edit in Premiere without extra work)
Try with your specific video and see what happens

Thanks for that info! Even in my time answering questions on iMovie Discussion Group, I never had a good understanding of when and how Optimize Movie came into play. I always would import as Optimized and Large Size and figured that was good enough. But knowing you got much, much more flexibility doing it the way you describe gives me a much better understanding of the different routes you can take into the Event Library.

    Hi Suny152,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
You shouldn’t have any issues using the Transform tool in the Video Inspector to resize your RED footage from 4K to 2K.  This workflow is described on pages 13-14 of the
RED Workflows with Final Cut Pro X White Paper
    https://www.apple.com/final-cut-pro/docs/RED_Workflows_with_Final_Cut_Pro_X.pdf
In the Transform section of the Video inspector, use the Scale slider to adjust the frame size of the selected clips as appropriate for the new project frame size.
These kinds of aesthetic changes don’t degrade image quality, because Final Cut Pro X operates on the original 4K or 5K frame, not on the resized 2K or 1080 frame.
    Cheers!
    Judy

I can see the video. I want to download it and save in my computer to see it again.
I have download helper. While the 3 red, blue, and yellow sphere are turning, It gives me the choice of place to save, and when I click and choose desktop , for example, this message comes ."Conversion requires an external application that appears to be missing on your system. Configure conversion ?
When I click on okay, another page comes, which says" converter and a box next to it . in the box is written FFMpeg. but I can change it to MEncoder. In another box, says configure conversion rules. When I click on it, nothing happen. Thanks for your help.
    == This happened ==

No, this reply is not helpful. It simply generates this little gem:
"This service requires the conversion feature to be enabled.
    Configure conversion ?"
And the same clicking on buttons that makes nothing happen and going around in circles with the escape key.

I have a lot of HD video on my hard drive that I eventually want to edit in iMovie, but just don't have the time now.  It is clogging up the computer, though.  How do I take the Hd clips off Mac for later editing?

    See "Storage drive" here
    Most commonly used backup methods
Th problem with HD video is it needs a fast external interface, so you should pick a external drive that uses the fastest interface your computer has to offer.
Performance rank fastest to slowest is
    Thunderbolt, USB3, (newer Mac's)
    Firewire 800, USB 2, Firewire 400, USB 1 (older Mac's)
    Newer Windows PC's have USB3, older one's USB 2,1.
You need to format the drive if it comes FAT which a lot do, as FAT has a 4GB file size limit, so this won't work with large HD video files.
So if your  going to use the drive only with a Mac, then head to Utlities > Disk Utility and format it Options: GUID Format: OS X Extended Journaled. (select the drive makers name and click Partition tab)
If your going to use the external drive with a PC, take it to the oldest PC you have and right click and format exFAT.
If you have a Windows XP machine and there is no exFAT, it can be downloaded for free from Microsoft.

Sir Churchill, I tried deleting one of the playlists from my computer (Playlist 130).  The next day I checked my wife's computer and noticed that Playlist 130 was now missing from her computer as well.  Is there a way that I can delete a playlist from my computer without it disappearing from hers as well?

    Thanks Tgara.
Its funny. So far the responses have been 50/50 on this question. I even asked two seperate Apple Store employees here in NYC, and got two different answers! One said yes, the other no.
    Argh!
I know from watching the keynote speech about icloud and iOS 5 that you will be able to cut the cord between the pc and ios devices like the ipad. No more need to sync them via a cord. So will that mean i would then be able to load video directly to the ipad via tha cam kit connector from my ipod? Also i wonder if/when Apple will allow HD video from on Apple devices like a canon dslr to be able to transfer to the ipad via the cam kit connector AND be able to EDIT that footage in imovie for the ipad. Speaking of imovie for the ipad...i hope it gets an update soon as well.
Anyway....with the macbook airs getting updated next week with thunderbolt and new sandy bridge chips....i may just get one of them instead of the ipad 2 for editing video on the road. Still...i prefer surfing the web experience on the ipad. Grrrrrrr. **** youuuuuuu Apple!!! Lol

PLEASE HELP ME I AM FACING A PROBLEM
    My name is Ameer.
    I watch youtube videos from ipad2 ( safari )
today for my first time, when i run a video and i want to pause it, i touch the screen where the video is playing to reach the pause botton that is located on a bar under the video which appears when i touch the screen. Today every time i touch the screen nothing happens and i cannt pause the video nor adjusting its quality.
So plese help me fixing this problem as soon as posible.
    Regards

Same problem on my ipad mini, running ios 6.0.2.
    A bit more info:
-tried using YouTube in Safari on another ipad. Worked fine.
Tried reboot (sleep + home buttons for 15 seconds). Didn't fix.
-tried logging out of my YouTube account, thinking the problem was tied to my settings. Didn't fix.
-tried uninstalling all apps I downloaded since the last time YouTube worked properly. Didn't fix.
-tried watching a video in desktop mode. Can tap video screen to bring up pause okay in that mode.
There are work arounds, but the thing I want to know is why YouTube doesn't work in Safari as of a couple of days ago, and is it indicative of another more serious problem with my ipad.

  • Want to edit videos

I have 20 DVD's -- family films.  Want to edit all but nice clips of my deceased husband for a memorial service.  Have Photoshop Elements 8.
    Thanks.  D

    Prizewinner
The following is my view of the situation.
We are after the video files in the VIDEO_TS Folder. Typically they will be a series of VOB files which will begin with the file name of VTS_01_1.VOB.
Tip: There could be one or several depending on the duration of the disc content. The VTS.....VOB that you want is confirmed by its larger file size. The max size for any one of these VOBs is 0.99 GB.
On the DVD disc, these specific VOB files exist in the DVD-VIDEO format and need to be ripped from the DVD
disc for use in your video project. Photoshop Elements 8 is not going to do that. You can do this ripping two ways
    a. with a video editor that has this VOB ripping feature
    or
    b. using your computer's Command Prompt feature to create one file which represents seamless merging of all the VOB files into one.
Please refer to my blog post for this concept. http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/2013/09/pe-dvd-videoseamless-vob-ripping.html
In view of the situation, I am not suggesting the "b" the Command Prompt way.
I am suggesting that you download and install the free 30 days tryout of Premiere Elements 12 as your video editor and look at the following workflow....
    a. Open Premiere Elements 12 to the Expert workspace. Go to File Menu/New/Project and manually set the project preset for
    NTSC
    DV
    Standard
(for now I am assuming that is what you have on the DVD discs is NTSC DVD-VIDEO Standard 4:3 - let me know if NTSC DVD-VIDEO Widescreen 16:9)
    b. Insert your first DVD disc in the DVD burner tray.
    c. In Premiere Elements 12, go to Add Media/"DVD Camera or Computer Drive"/Video Importer,
    d. In the Video Importer, place check mark next to the VTS_01_1.VOB thumbnail, set the Save In: for a folder in Videos of Libraries/Videos, and also have a check mark next to Add to Timeline. This way you will be saving these files to a computer hard drive location (in this case Libraries/Videos) as well as opening them in a project. Then press Get Media in the Video Importer. At that point, you will see your VOB in the Expert workspace as a thumbnail in Project Assets as well as on the Timeline (Video Track 1/Audio Track 1). And, you can begin your edit of the VOB.
    Alternatively....
At the Video Importer stage, you can just save the VOBs to Libraries/Videos and not open into a new project with them at that time. Then, at a later date, you can import the saved VOBs from the Libraries/Videos into a new Premiere Elements project with Premiere Elements' Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets. You can double click the VOB thumbnail in Project Assets to bring up the Preview Windows with its Set In and Set Out points to split the VOB into segments. Further organizational and use aspects of this idea are found in my blog post
    http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/2013/06/pe11-project-assets-organization-for.html
The above should get you through the 1st of your DVDs, but there is a tip to avoid getting stuck with an "already imported message" from the Video Importer when you have not imported the VOBs of the additional DVDs.
All the DVDs will give you the same name for the video file, VTS_01_1.VOB etc  Consequently, for each new DVD, the Video Importer Save In must be directed to a new folder with a different name in the Libraries/Videos.
Lots of details. Not so bad once you see all these details in action.
Have you decided if your destination is going to be DVD-VIDEO Standard on DVD disc or a file saved to hard drive and then projected onto a screen from a computer player or other? If this is going on a disc, we will get in the burn dialog's reading for Space Required and Bitrate with a check mark next to Space Required and Bitrate. But, for now, just in case note...
DVD 4.7 GB/120 minutes, in reality is 4.38 GB.
DVD 8.5 GB/240 minutes, in reality is 7.95 GB.
    Details beget details it seems.
Looking forward to learning of your progress.
Thanks for opportunity to be of assistance.

  • Witch MacBook is the best to buy if i want to Edit videos and photos? Any advice?

Witch MacBook is the best to buy if i want to Edit videos and photos? Any advice?

Hi Catflow and welcome to Apple Support.
So it kind of depends on how intensive your editing will be, especially videos. A professional video editor will have multiple monitors and the fastest possible Mac. I knew a video editor in Chicago who ran with 5 36" Cinema Monitors and an 8 Core Mac Pro.
A photo editor will have the largest possible monitor and processor speed would be less critical. I had a client who was a professional photographer. She wanted to buy an iMac. I told her she needed a Mac Pro with two Cinema Monitors. Later she thanked me because she said, "The clients see my pictures on those two huge monitors and they are immediately sold."
So if you want to stay with a laptop get the largest display you can with the max memory and maybe even a SSD. You could also use a smaller more portable model with an external display.
I put 8GB RAM and a SSD in this early 2011 13" MacBook Pro. Photoshop CS6 opens in 3 seconds vrs. 45 before the upgrade! I don't do a lot of photo editing. If I did and have done I'd use my Wife's Mini with the 23" Cinema display or my Daughter's iMac i5 with the 21.5" display!

  • I want to monetary youtube videos with photoshop tutorials - where can I find the written authority to do so?

    Hi everybody.
I would like to upload some tutorials videos about Photoshop and Dreamweaver to youtube but youtube is asking for the written authority to do so (What kind of content can I monetize? - YouTube Help). They say:
"Whether you can show software user interfaces in a video submitted for monetization depends on the commercial use rights granted to you by the license of the software. In some cases, you may need a contract with the publisher or proof that you have paid a licensing fee."
Where can I get the written document to proof that I can. I read the whole License agreement and could find nothing about thatr matter. Than for 1 hour I was searching a Adobe Mail Adderess to ask my question, but I only found here the forum. So I ask my Question to you now. Where can I find that I'm allowed to upload tutorial videos and monetary them.
If you could help me this would be perfect.

  • Cannot delete a video clip from iPad, the Edit button doesn't appear ?

With iMovie for iOS (iPad) I try to permanently delete a video clip from my iPad.
I follow the article http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3186. But even if the video clip I want to delete is not used in a project, I simply do not find the Edit button in the upper-left corner above the Video browser as mentionned.
    This is a screenshot
the Ipad is running iOS 5.1.1 (9B206), the video are not stored in 'pellicule'
    Am I crazy ?
    Thank you for any help.

Did you shoot the video in iMovie?
Or did you shoot it via the camera app?
If it was shot in the camera app, then it needs to be deleted in the Photos app.
Can you see the video in the photos app?
You can permanently delete a video clip from your device as long as it’s not in the Camera Roll or the Photos app.

  • NON-Flash User Wants to Edit and "Recompile" an SWF or FLA file...help??

Hello!! Although I am NOT new to Mac, I have NEVER attempted to edit an SWF file and I'm seeking an EASY way to do so. I think I might be CLOSE but I'm wasting time trying to figure it out so I'm posting here for some help...hopefully!! :-))
I also apologize because I did NOT know where to post this question so KINDLY direct me if I have posted in the wrong place!
Soooo, I have an complete, original .swf flash movie. It is a Holiday greeting but the VERY LAST frame has text that is NOT RELEVANT and I wish to change that text.
It appears that the text I want to change is (I do NOT know the correct term) a "layer" of graphic content for the last frame.
So, I have done TWO THINGS: I have used the Flash Decompiler app to (1) create an .fla file and (2) DECOMPILED the entire .swf extracting ALL the resources/objects that are used to create the original .swf animation. I have NO IDEA what to do with the .fla file...I know it is used to edit the animation but I do not have software to manipulate the file.
BUT, in the decompiled files, I HAVE LOCATED the one resource...a TEXT RESOURCE...that I wish to change. This extracted text resource is named "Dynamic text 293.swf", saved as in .swf format.
Now HERE is where I am STUCK!!...and I THINK this is the direction I would like to go:
    1. Open the Dynamic text 293.swf file in a format that allows me to EDIT THE TEXT I wish to change. HOW DO I DO THAT?? Can I convert it to a jpeg, edit the text, and then BACK to an .swf file?? Can I simply CREATE a JPEG and somehow SAVE IT as an .swf file to REPLACE the Dynamic text 293.swf file? Is there an EASIER/DIFFERENT way to edit the text in this Dynamic text 293.swf file?
    2. After editing the text in the Dynamic text 293.swf file, HOW DO I "RECOMPILE" the folder of alllll the extracted resources from the original .swf animation, NOW with this NEW/EDITED Dynamic text 293.swf file, and RECREATE the full .swf with the changes I made??
Again, I do NOT have FLASH or MACROMEDIA or any of those apps :-/ I DO have the .fla file conversion AND have isolated the SINGLE extracted resource file (Dynamic text 293.swf) that I want to edit.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP Greatly appreciated!!
    Scott

That's a problem, since the format changes between jpg and swf when converted
probably won't just go back to their previous state, less the changed section.
The converter you have, is it a freeware to convert swf to fla; or what does it say
that it can do? In some cases, a flash video can be copied (perhaps illegally)
through use of a software such as Ambrosia's SnapZ ProX and a movie of any-
thing playing on your Mac can be copied. So, a movie could be paused at the
end where the unwanted content exists, so the copy would not have it recorded.
Snapz ProX - Ambrosia Software: (not freeware, has 'free trial' version)
    http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/snapzprox/
Otherwise, there are a few shareware and freeware editors for swf content; to
some degree or another they either convert content or allow some editing.
And this may only work as far as the item's creator allowed, if the file is locked.
' swf fla freeware editor Mac OS X ' - google search:
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=swffla+freeware+editor+Mac+OS+X&btnG=GoogleSearch&aq=f&oq=
I'd tried some basic editing of swf files a few years ago, and was able to only
convert the string of images into single-frame jpgs and work on each one,
but could not get them back into an swf. Perhaps graphic converter or other
software could do something for these; but I am inexperienced in all that.
    Good luck & happy computing!
