Should verizon make me pay early to get out of contract when it"s a month early?

I want to find someone to talk to about having to pay the $66 for early terminations after buying a prepaid phone & verizon messing up putting my old number on the prepaid phone.  It literally took 2 days & 9 hours of my time to get it fixed. At my HOURLY WAGE of $25 an hour I figure they owe me..It was such a mess.  I was passed around from one person to another for 9 hours. I have never heard of such a thing....

I asked them if I could  use my old phone number before I bought the prepaid  phone..I have to take care of my father so needed the old number...They didn't get it on there  so but activated the services & then my phone didn't even work for a while.  Had to use a neighbors...This has been awful.. They notes on top of notes of my calls.  They just keep apologizing. Then after I got that fixed they couldnt figure out how to get the backup assist to work.  My daughter works for a cell phone company...This should not have happened.....

  • Edit in Progress how do I get out or know when it is finished??

I have just read a plea from some-one which sounds exactly like my problem.  I could never get on with Photoshop Elements 8 so I thought that when version 11 came out it would be simpler...not to me I still have problems with the edit in progress...how do I know when it is finished and how do I get out of screens when I have finished???I have bought the book...got the latest version...have old CD's from my last attempts...but I am still battling with it.
Picasa on the other hand is great  obviously not as comprehensive...maybe I should have just stuck to that instead of spending money I could ill afford.

  • Verizon wireless is refusing to unlock my out of contract 4s. What can Apple do about.

Verizon wireless is refusing to unlock my out of contract iPhone 4s. I have called three times their customer service. I just finish reading about the CTIA and FCC agreement regarding the unlocking process. A copy of the agreement can be found at http://www.ctia.org/docs/default-source/fcc-filings/ctia-letter-on-unlocking.pdf What can be done from the Apple's OEM side of the business in order to have my device unlocked?

The unlock of ANY device is accomplished BETWEEN the wireless server and apple. PLEASE understand that without the wireless carrier agreeing that it is in their best interest to unlock your device they will NOT unlock the device.  If the device has met all critirum AND you are the registered owner of the device there should be NO REASON why the wireless carrier will not unlock the device. But please appreciate the fact that in this security laden world we live in each and EVERY business errs on the side of the customer whenever there is an issue of protecting said customer.

  • Renewed my Contract Based on Misinformation From Verizon Reps-Any Recourse to Get Out of Contract?

A few months ago (February or so) I renewed my contract with Verizon and got an iPhone 4S as my previous HTC phone up and died. I knew I was going to be moving to Canada for awhile and so I made sure to ask a lot of questions about their Nationwide+Canada plan and what phones would work in Canada before making any plan or phone purchases. From that point on I was fed different information from every rep I talked to in store, online via chat, and via e-mail. The online rep told me that CDMA phones wouldn't work in Canada so I had to get the iPhone 4S rather than the Galaxy Nexus, which was the phone I was originally interested in. Found out later that's not true—CDMA phones do work in Canada (at least in the part I'll be in; there are some more rural areas where they don't work). That rep also told me that my grandfathered-in unlimited data plan would work in Canada and all I had to do was pay an extra $20/month to get voice and texting coverage in Canada. So, I got the iPhone in the store and renewed my contract based on the information the rep gave me.
Came to find out later that you need a separate global data plan to get 3G coverage in Canada, which is $25 for a nearly useless 100MB. This isn't made clear at all on the Verizon website for the Nationwide+Canada plan, and I complained about this plus the misinformation I received from the in-store rep, and all Verizon had to say was, "Sorry, but thanks for being a customer." When the time came to actually go to Canada, I switched to the Nationwide+Canada plan to get voice coverage for the time I was there, which I did in a different Verizon store. The rep in that store told me when I signed up that if I used more than a certain percentage of my minutes in Canada vs. the U.S., Verizon would cancel my plan, which is also not mentioned on the website anywhere that I found. She also said that I couldn't suspend my account for the entire time I'd be in Canada because it's longer than their suspension limits, although she admitted she didn't know how long the limit was off the top of her head and I couldn't find an exact number on the Verizon website.
So, I was fed a bunch of conflicting information from multiple Verizon reps that led me to renewing my contract. Do I have any recourse to get out of it? I'm really disappointed because I've never had trouble with Verizon until now.

Apparently I'm not the only person who's been fed conflicting information from various Verizon reps when it comes to coverage in Canada: https://community.verizonwireless.com/message/237079#237079
When I initially e-mailed Verizon about this issue, I told them that if their own employees don't understand what the company offers, then how are the customers supposed to understand?
It just doesn't seem right to have to pay the ETF when I only renewed my contract because I was given incorrect information by more than one rep. If I'd been given the correct information, I wouldn't have gotten a new phone that required a new 2-year contract.

  • Seriously thinking about paying the ETF to get out of contract. Will I get bad ESN?

Due to many reasons, I am incredibly unhappy with Verizon (been a customer for many, many years and am finally fed up) and am seriously thinking about paying the ETF to terminate my contract and move to another carrier with a new phone, like the Nexus 5 from Google. However, I would like to sell my Galaxy S3 to help pay the costs. If I pay my last bill and the ETF, will I get a bad ESN on my phone and be unable to sell it? Or, as long as everything is paid in full, including the ETF, will my ESN stay clean?
    Thanks!

Your phone will be fine as long as you pay all fees/bills.

  • Getting out of contract based on lack of coverage

I recently moved from NY to MA.  I have had Verizon forever and no issues.  Unfortunately where I now live, my cell phone calls continuously get dropped in my house and pretty much through the town where I live.  I called Verizon a few weeks ago and they said that they would sent someone out to test my area and get back to me. I never did hear back from them and had two calls drop again last night at my neighbors house.  I spent an hour on the phone with Verizon who told me that Yes, my coverage in my area is considered MARGINAL.  I have a couple options, they could give me a network extender for my house, which wont work on my cell phone when I'm out of my house or I can cancel my agreement.  BUT, because I signed my agreement in NY, my coverage is based on that area and I will have to pay the fees for early termination.  I have not had any issues with Verizon, I'm sad that I dont have great coverage where I live because I have enjoyed Verizon....  the only reason I need to terminate is because my coverage is awful here.  I work from home and often forward my work calls to my cell phone.  This is where I live, I"m not just visiting or renting, we purchased a house here.  Verizon is forcing me to keep my phones with unstable coverage or pay an outrages amount to terminate my contract.
The customer service agent told me that I could suspend my phone at no charge for six months...purchase a Straight Talk phone for $50/mo use the money that I save from my bill at the end of the six months to pay off the early termination???? REALLY????
Any suggestions would be wonderful.  I definitely feel more like a number at this very moment than a client.
    Not happy right now

It's probably because people have been gaming the system.  People here for example will buy a device sign a contract and then act like they moved and say they don't have coverage on a neighbor island.  So they get a device for free-$200 and out of contract to use on another carrier.  This kind of stuff happens on a very large scale.  At times people take their devices overseas and used family members addresses to buy devices.

  • HELP: Audio regions get out of sync when I change tempo

I've got Logic Pro 9. I've recorded audio on a few tracks, and they sound great together. When I go to change tempo (either in the transport bar or in the tempo track), the regions change in size and move around horizontally, and get out of sync as a result.
Has anyone had this problem? Why should changing the tempo of the project affect the position of the audio regions IN RELATION TO ONE ANOTHER? I want them to stay in sync after changing tempo.
    Thanks in advance!

The reason they move is that logic is a bar/beat based Sequencer rather than a time based sequencer like pro tools. The regions adhere to the tempo grid and when the tempo is changed, they seemingly lengthen or shorten because the tempo shifts the bar/beat grid with respect to time--and audio regions normally Are inflexible and last for a fixed amount of time no matter what the tempo is changed to. This is an advantage when your audio is quantized musical events, but for non musical events it's a disaster because it screws up your edits.
To fix the problem, find the timelock key command and highlight all regions you don't want the tempo change to affect. after selecting them all, timelock them with this command.
But, from your post Im guessing that you have bigger problems than this....Timelocking regions will only prevent region starts from shifting around and will leave all your edits unchanged. but it won't speed or slow down your audio; It will not alter lengths to fit a new tempo. if your tracks are music tracks in a certain tempo and you are trying to change the tempo of your recorded audio, you must enable the flex mode on each track. For this you should read the part of the manual on the flex engine. Bear in mind that the audio quality of this ranges from ok to terrible depending on the material.
The moral of the story is that you should try to arrive at the correct tempo before recording audio tracks.

  • Getting out of contract / refund

Anyone had any joy getting out of their contract with out cost (also getting connection fee refunded). My box has been plagued with probems since day 1. CS promised to take the box away if the engineer couldn't fix the box and then let me out of the contact, but when the engineer arrived, wasn't the instruction he was given so I'm back to square 1 after getting lied to by customer service.
Regret linking my you view to my broadband, otherwise it would be a lot easier to deal with.

  • Slideshow audio gets out of sync when exported to iDvd

I made a large slideshow for a 40th anniversary party. It has 244 images & 7 songs. It is 29 min 54 seconds long. When I view the slideshow in iPhoto it works fine & the last image ends right at the end of the last song.
When I exported it to iDvd, the audio gets out of sync with the video. By the end of the first song, the video is about 2 seconds ahead. By the end of the last image, the last song is cut of by about 30 to 45 seconds. I tried exporting the slideshow directly to iDvd. I also exported it as a large movie & it did the same thing.
    I'm using a 17" 1.67ghz powerbook with 1.5 gigs of ram.
    I'm using OS 10.4.2.
    I'm using iPhoto 5.0.4
    I'm using iDvd 5.0.1
The images are scanned tiffs. I also have jpegs that I shot with my canon eos digital rebel xt.
Anybody have any ideas or work-arounds?

I suggest you either use iDVD to create two slideshows or use iMovie to get all 277 images and the 8 audio tracks into one slideshow. If you use iMovie after you get the slideshow/movie put together and completed quit iMovie. Then go into the iMovie project package (Control-click and select Show Package Contents). The find your movie in the Shared Movies folder and drag it into an open iDVD menu. This allows iDVD to to the rendering of the stills and give you a sharper image. That movie file you're dragging is a reference movie so leave it where it is and just drag it into iDVD's window.
If you can live with two separate slideshow (consider it a potty break between the two) and you don't have or need the Ken Burns effect, you can get excellent results by building the slideshows with iDVD from imported stills. The sync to audio in this method works as advertised. I like to add a blank slide at the end of the slideshow so the music fades out during a blank, black slide.

  • How stop imported ppt animations from getting out of sync when  captivate 4 is paused?

When we pause captivate 4, the imported power point animations keep going. We import power point slides into Captivate 4, then import audio into Captivate and set the animation timings ("after previous" -no clicks - video is set to automatic forward)  in ppt to synch with the audio. We also add Captivate popups etc. After we publish, when the pause button is used, Captivate pauses and the audio pauses but the power point animations get out of synch - the ppt animation timings do not seem to recognize the pause. How can we fix this?

    Ruth,
I have been able to fix the problem with adding a second on each slide.  So all but 7 of my slides now are in sync.  I had one slide change, not play its narration as the narration from the previous slide finished.  And then it move on to the next slide.  According to the manual, you can adjust the speed of the slide transition.  So I am playing with the timeline for each slide.  I am almost there.  I didn't have any change of slides after the first transition to almost perfect synchronization with all but 7 slides out of 60, including one skip over.  It seems each problem solved creates a new problem. I fixed resolution by adjusting the resolution settings. I enabled the variable showing of the slide based on the narration, rather than the default 3 seconds.  So I am making progress.

  • Updated ios 8.1 now my screen is stuck on connect to itunes, I don't have a computer to do this and Apple is stating that my device is out of warranty so they want me to pay $19 to get it looked at when it is APPLE's upgrade

So upgraded my ipad and now I can't use it at all, can't get any support from Apple because it is past the 1 year, this is crazy because it is Apple's product and Apple's upgrade, NOT my fault.  Screen is stuck on connect to iTunes but cannot get it to un stick.  UGH!

If you ever want to be able to use the iPad again, you have to connect it to a computer running iTunes to restore it. Your iPad is in recovery mode and nothing can be done for it over the phone anyway. You can blame Apple for the problem if you want to, but that's not going to change anything.
Take your iPad to a friend or relatives's house that has a computer running iTunes and restore your iPad. Make an appointment at an Apple Store and ask them for help. I don't think that you have to pay for a Genius Bar visit. Phone support is a different story.
IF you have an iCloud backup, you will be able to restore the backup after you get the iPad up and running again. If you have no backup, you will have to start all over again.

  • How do i make Firefox STOP frequently logging me out of sites when I chose "remember me"?

I have FF 24.0 now but this has happened through multiple versions, and its getting more and more frequent. (Win 7x64, 8G ram, 1T drive)
I always check "remember me" and "save this password" yet sites like Facebook, Google+ and many others keep logging me out, at *least* every other day and sometimes multiple times a day, so I have to login all over again- today I had the frustration of being logged out of a forum with each refresh of a page! (I'm logged in, hit "reply" and suddenly, "sorry you must login to do that!" HUH?)
I dont care if cookies never expire, and no one else but my husband has access to my computer and we know each other's passwords anyway.
I am hoping I can fix this without either reinstalling firefox or deleting the profile, because I have a pretty large bookmark file and about 9 add ons to reinstall, plus various plug ins!
I am starting to suspect its related to running out of cache space- sites can't seem to remember me when the cache is full?! , since its frequently at max (it was saying 350 max, now it says 500), I clear the cache whenever I notice its full. I did not clear it today until after it logged me out multiple times.

Incidentally, even replying by using the email link, I was logged out of this site already too, but not sure if that's default behavior or not.
It could be coincidence on the cache size because I don't constantly check it, but the times I have, it has fit that "theory", so I had to suspect it. It does ''seem'' with a clear cache, it takes longer before I get "forgotten".
None of my addons are specifically designed to clear cookies, and I don't think my security software (Bitdefender) is doing it either, as this issue far predated that particular installation.
Have done the "remove relevant cookies" thing a couple times before (I have been dealing with this for a very long time!) but it doesn't change the behavior.
I believe my ISP uses a dynamic IP setting for our DSL connection, changing a bit each time the modem restarts, and obviously there's nothing I can do about that. :( However, I most certainly did not change IP addresses between clicks of that forum I mentioned earlier!
It happens at sites that are unrelated to Yahoo or AOL, in fact Yahoo is actually a lot better about leaving me logged in, I'm rarely logged out there when I don't ask to be.
My connection setting was default as you noted: "use system proxy settings" but I changed it to "no proxy" on your suggestion.
I do not use anything that intentionally messes with or disguises my IP as far as I am aware.
X notifier does check all my email providers for new mail- Yahoo & Hotmail as well as Gmail, although Gmail is the only one of those that usually makes me log back in frequently. I can turn it off, but it would impossible to know immediately if it helped, because I can't predict exactly when I'll get logged out or not. Sometimes I can stay logged into a site for 2-3 days, (through browser closes and windows restarts) and sometimes only until I leave the site or close the browser. Or sometimes when I refresh the page apparently! Its just annoyingly often.
The "remember passwords" addon is also just a recent addition, this problem far preceded it, in case that makes anyone wonder.
I will delete the cookies for the sites that have recently dumped me, and disable my mail checker  and let you know how soon/if I am logged out against my will again.

  • Why is the audio on my video getting out of sync when it is imported into itunes?

    Hello,
I have videos in the MP4 Format, and have imported them into itunes. However, during playback in itunes, the audio gets more and more out of sync as the video plays. By the end of the film the audio can be 5-6 seconds out!
What's strange is that the source file, played with quicktime or Windows media player, is fine and works perfectly.
Why is the audio stretched once it is imported?
    Thanks,
    James

    I have the same problem.
    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA785GPMT-UD2H

    North Bridge: AMD 785G
    South Bridge: AMD SB710
Video: Integrated ATI Radeon HD 4200
HDMI Audio through the HDMI port out to the TV.
Tried on Windows 7 Pro 32bit and Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit.
Tried with the integrated ALC889A audio device enabled and disabled (It seems that the video card drives the HDMI audio device though, because it still appears in Windows even if I disable the Audio device in BIOS).
    Latest iTunes and drivers installed.
I have already tried all sugestions about matching Windows Audio settings to iTunes settings (bit depth, frequency rate).
Apple, any suggestions? I'm not having a great customer experience after buying a pair of HD movies in iTunes.

This happens to me regularly on ubuntu 14.04 with a Dell e7440 ever since I got it.  Looks like a software bug.  I'd be happy to help debug any way possible? (past arch user)
Specifically, I'd describe the behavior as the cursor jumping around incredibly quickly while randomly clicking the middle button, resulting in spammed pastes.  Clicking the middle button myself usually gets it unstuck.  The touchpad is disabled, and I use an external mouse at work with no problem.

  • Misinformed by a Verizon corporate store about Early Edge and now loosing hundred of dollars in order to get account straightened back out.

In early November 2014, my husband and I visited a corporate Verizon store.  While at the store, we were presented with the option to do an "Early Edge" program.  My husband and I both opted to do the Early Edge program and were informed that it would be in our best interested to switch our data plan from 4 GB to 10 GB because it would be cheaper due to the larger discount on the line access charges.  He switched our plan on the spot in the store for us and we proceeded to do the Early Edge agreements.
As part of the Early Edge agreement, the sales associate informed us that we would need to send back our current phones due to receiving a discount on the handsets when we signed the two year contracts with them.  This part was a little confusing for me because I signed my 2-year contract and purchased a Samsung Galaxy S4 with that contract but was having a lot of problems with it, so I paid full retail price or "out of pocket" for a Motorola Moto X Designed by You that was active on the account when we signed the Early Edge Agreement for my phone number.
The sales associate was adamant that I needed to send the Samsung Galaxy S4 back to Verizon after I received my new phone in the mail from the Early Edge program.  He was well aware that the Samsung Galaxy S4 was NOT currently active on my account as we talked about my Moto X being on the account when he pulled up the account.  So when my new phone arrived in the mail, I activated it and mailed back my Samsung Galaxy S4.
At the end of November and into early December, I started receiving both text messages and e-mails from Verizon stating that I had not returned my device back to Verizon and needed to do so within the next 14 days.  Both myself and my husband called Verizon Customer Care (611 from our handsets) multiple times to try and figure out why we were getting these messages.  We were each told a wide variety of reasons why we were getting these messages.  One phone call my husband was told that the warehouse mixed up the bags our returned devices were in and it would be corrected by the warehouse.  Both my husband and I were told several times that both phones were indeed received, but it took 4-6 weeks for the return to be processed so we didn't have to worry about the messages.
At the end of December, I received another e-mail saying I failed to return my device to Verizon and I would be charged a fee because of this.  I called Verizon Customer Care (611) and was told that I received this messages because the warehouse was expecting a Moto X back and received a Samsung Galaxy S4 instead.  I explained why I sent the Galaxy S4 instead of the Moto X and the customer care representative put me on hold as he spoke with his supervisor, then came back and told me I needed to return to the store where I signed the Early Edge agreement where they could change the phone that the warehouse was expecting from the Moto X to the Samsung Galaxy S4.
My husband and I traveled an hour to the Verizon store where we signed the Early Edge agreement and were told by the store manager that it was impossible for them to change what phone the warehouse was expecting at a store level.  We asked that the store credit us the fee we were expecting to be charged for not returning "the correct phone" since we were mislead by a store employee, but the manager refused to help us with a credit or to even get the situation with the returned phones resolved.
Exhausted and extremely upset, I decided to try one last hope and use the live chat feature on the Verizon website for help with the issue.
Now, another issue on the account we faced was a $30 overage fee for going over our data plan in November.  We received a ridiculously high Verizon bill in December and when I examined it, I saw we were being charged for a "month in advance" on all of the charges on our account due to signing the Early Edge agreements, as well as $30 fee for going over our data.  It was never explained to us by the sales representative that our next bill would be higher than it normally is because we will be billed for a month in advance, so that was shocking to receive a bill almost $200 higher than our normal bill, and to have a $30 overage fee.  I called Verizon Customer Care (611) and asked about the $30 overage and she told me it was because we changed our data plan at a Verizon store in the middle of our billing cycle.  She spoke to her manager and was approved to give us a $30 bill credit on our next bill since the data plan change should have been back dated to the start of billing cycle to avoid things like a data overage.  So we paid the extremely large bill and when the December bill came, there was to no surprise, no $30 bill credit on our December bill.
So, I waited about 10-15 minutes for a chat agent to become available.  I was connected to an Agent and typed out a lengthy summer of my issue of the missing bill credit to start and told him I had another more complicated issue to discuss after the bill credit.  It said the "Agent is typing a message" down at the bottom of the chat for a long time, I probably waited a good 25 minutes like an idiot before I attempted type another message but was unable to type anything.  While cycling through the open windows on my computer, I noticed there was another pop up from Verizon that said my chat was disconnected because of inactivity.
I got REALLY upset at that point, and had to wait another 10-15 minutes to get into a new chat with a new agent since the other one timed out because the agent never said anything in my chat window.  I was connected with a very helpful and polite agent named Tiffany.  Long chat conversation made short, Tiffany promised to issue a $30 "instant credit" to my account that would take 10-15 minutes to appear and I needed to relog in order to see.  She also told me that I was supposed to send back the Samsung Galaxy S4 since I paid out of pocket for the Moto X and that she would forward the issue to her supervisor to get the Samsung Galaxy S4 accepted by the warehouse so I would not have to pay the fee for returning the wrong device.
It is now January 10th, 2015, and my bill is due by 1/11/15.  There has still not been a $30 "instant credit" posted to my account as my bill amount has not decreased by a single penny since it posted to my account in December.
About 30 minutes after I finished chatting with Tiffany, I received several text messages from Verizon informing me that the warehouse would be returning my Samsung Galaxy S4 to my residence and I needed to return my Moto X after that because it was the last phone active on my account when I signed the Early Edge agreement.
I am EXTREMELY upset that we were misinformed by a sales representative at a corporate Verizon store and it is going to end up costing me hundreds of dollars because I chose to do a Early Edge upgrade and it really screwed up my account.  If I comply with what Verizon is asking and send back my Moto X, I am loosing the $350 dollars I spent to purchase that phone out of pocket plus the $30 dollar overage fee I was charged for a change the representative made on my account in the middle of the bill cycle.  If I refuse to send the Moto X back, I must pay a $250  fee (or higher) for not returning my device plus the $30 overage charge.
I used to really enjoy being a Verizon customer, but now I feel completely scammed out of hundreds of dollars because Verizon as a company is refusing to make a wrong a store associate representing the company made back in November.
This became A LOT longer than I intended it to be and I don't expect anyone to read it fully, so if you take anything away from this forum post (if it doesn't get deleted by Verizon), please take these thoughts away:
Do NOT signed up for the Early Edge Program because it will do nothing but give you a ton of headaches, really screw up your Verizon account, and cost you a lot of money in the long run.
Do NOT believe when anyone paid by Verizon tells you that you will receive any kind of credit on your account, it will NOT happen.
Verizon Wireless will NOT fix any mistakes on your account made by the company itself; Verizon Wireless will come up with solutions on how YOU can fix the problems THEY created on your account, but none of these solutions will actually fix your account.
If you are thinking of switching to Verizon from another company, DO NOT.
    Sincerely,
an extremely disgruntled Verizon Wireless customer who WILL be switching to another carried once the mess of her account gets sorted out.

I am going to tell you like I have been passing the word about this scam verizion is running with this edge program, basically they been getting our money from both ends, anyway that is how my lawyer explained it to me.I am taking them to court and will see where it goes.
All I'm saying is read the fine print a couple of times because what there putting in print isn't true.
