Signing entire portfolios

The portfolio of Acrobat Pro / ext can handle multiple file formats.
I try to sign a whole portfolio with diffrent file types but the the Advanced>sign & certify is greyed-out.
However it is possible to encrypt the portfolio which is on the same subject.
Please comment. It would be very nice to sign a bounch of diffrent files in a portfolio at once.

Hopefully this answer will help somebody.
To be able to apply a signature for the entire portfolio you must put it into
cover sheet mode.
Using
Show>Portfolio>Cover sheet on the drop down menu. (translated from my national windows menu).

  • Email PDF Form and Sign Entire Submission - Can this lock the form and show the signature?

Thanks to those who explained how to create a button that allows me to email a form as a PDF rather than XML. It helped me a great deal.
Now I want to cause our time sheet adjustment form to be emailed from the employee to their supervisor, and have the form-data be read-only, and the employee signature to be obvious to the recipient.
I've tried checking the Sign Submission check box in the Submit tab of the Button Object window, (where the mailto: tag has been entered.
I clicked the "Settings..." button on the Submit tab and then, under the "Sign Data and Submit Settings" dialog box I selected "Sign Entire Submission". But this does not lock the data and the resulting PDF form once emailed, shows no sign of a signature.
I also tried adding a signature field, and clicked on it to add a signature. But once the signature was added, the Button was disabled and I could not submit the form via the mailto: tag.
Is there a way to signa form with a self-signed signature, and email the entire PDF such that the recipient can see the signature, and that the data are no longer editable?
    Wouldn't that just be ducky...?
    Thanks again,
    -David Bartholomew

Thanks for your comment. I suppose I need to add a context to my intended usage to explain why I want what I described. I want the signature to be apparent so users can see that a submission was signed. These forms that I am considering will replace a paper form used internally within my organization, to request a time card change. They only need to be signed as a pro-forma requirement.
If the electronic forms solution is approved by management, I will make a case that since the network is a closed intranet, there is little consequential likelihood that a fellow employee would forge another's time card change request. And since the new form would be submitted through email, there is a further validation that the email will identify the sender's email address. This proposed electronic submission method is certainly as valid as forms where users cut and paste an image of their signature in a document...
The good news is that since I asked this question, I discovered the samples that came with LCD 8...
An example can be found in the Live Cycle Interactive Purchase Order sample found at [installdir]\EN\Samples\Purchase Order\Interactive.
The interactive Purchase Order sample shows how a collection of fields can be defined and then the signature applied only to the data in the collection. The email button is defined as not included in the collection. This way the signature field can be used, and once the document is signed, the email button remains enabled.
The interactive purchase order sample also demonstrates how a drop down list can be populated by a JavaScript as well as some array handling syntax that I've been looking for.
I recommend the samples to anyone who, like me, may not have been aware of their relevance.
Thanks again, this forum is a great resource.

  • "Search Entire Portfolio" as default?

    Hi folks,
Using Acrobat Pro 9.3.1 to create Portfolio collections of user manuals. All documents in the portfolio are PDF. When I started creating Portfolios, the default behavior when using the Search box was to comb the portfolio. Recently, several co-workers and I have noticed that search defaults to the active PDF document, with "Search Entire Portfolio" a drop-down option. This is not intuitive behavior, to my mind at least.
I do not see any setting, either in the Edit Portfolio dialogs or Document Properties, that sets the default search pattern.
Possibly related issue: I embed indexes in each component document. Am I better off creating a single index for the portfolio, indexing the portfolio AND each component doc, or staying put?

If you bring up a search window with the keyboard shortcut of Command-F it has content selected and the criterion of Kind:Any, and I know of no way to change that. However, if you bring up the search window using the keyboard shortcut of Command-SHIFT-F it will have File Name as the default...but no criterion at all. If you wish to have something besides "all files with whatevever in the file name" you still have to use the use the mouse, to click the + button and add a criterion.
And if you prefer to always start with File Name, and don't mind the lack of a criterion, you can switch the keyboard shortcuts in System Preferences.

  • Retaining Certification and Signatures of Individual Files in Portfolio

I am compiling a pdf portfolio.  All of the individual documents are password secured for editing and are certified with my self-signed digital id.  Within the porfolio however, certification of the individual files is lost so that the digital signatures panel is blank.  I have certified the entire portfolio, but still if someone were browsing the portfolio and decided to open and save one of the files, it would not be certified.  Is there a way to retain the certification?

    Hi Steve,
What about when portfolio and attachments are certified by different users?
Let’s take into consideration end-user and Adobe Reader 9 usability.
Example: You have notorious conclusions (certification) on cover sheet in portfolio with bunch of documents attached, which were digitally signed by different municipality departments. In order to validate signatures you need to save every attachment. (We think this is real issue, lets say saving 100 attachments in order only to verify them.)
Adobe reader 8 covers this task nicely. You can be sure you have the original document in your portfolio without saving it.
Adobe reader 9 makes PDF package meaningless in terms of validation of certified documents.
Functionality which allows you easily to validate signatures in the attaches documents is more important than functionality, which prevents you from the ASSUMPTION that one signed document means all documents are signed. (Which you can make anyway by looking on the signature on the cover page)
Hope next update will have Adobe Reader 8 usability.
What is your opinion about this issue?
    Best regards,
    Denis Titkov

  • Acrobat Pro XI - can you apply digital certificate to certify Portfolio?

I used to be able to View-> Portfolio-> Cover Sheet and then certify the Portfolio with a digital ID. Now Acrobat hangs every time I try.
Adobe support team may be working on it but it's difficult to tell if they are actually paying attention.   A friend also tried it with same failed results.   Can anyone get it to work or am I the only person in the world using Digital Certs to sign PDF Portfolios?
Here's background info on how to do it: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/acrobat/X/pro/using/WS396794562021d52e-7abb39ef12b34b0e1cd-800 0.html

In case anyone is interested, you can go back to Acrobat Pro 11.0.06 and it works again.  The official Adobe bug number is 3789347.   Adobe has no estimate for fix.

  • PDF Portfolio published as a website

I published my PDF Portfolio as a website instead of linking to the actual PDF. It no longer has the search box in the upper right-hand corner like the PDF version does. How do you search the entire portfolio, or even a section, when it is an html?

Having the web pages/files (the "website") you upload it a web server; in time Google, Bing and others will crawl the "pages" and then you can use the web search engine.
Or install a web search engine on the local machine.
Or use the OS's search engine to index and thus be able to search the files.
Load faster? Ok (although I've some reservations on that).
Print just a "section"? That can be done from the Portfolio (the Print dialog for Reader / Acrobat is very versatile - play with it...).
    Be well...

  • PDF Portfolio Function

Acrobat 9 PRO. Windows XP Home SP3.
I save a lot of archiving documents for genealogy utilization. Usually for a specific item, will have a word processing (e.g., docx), pdf, image (uncompressed tif) and possibly an audio (wav) set of files. Do not wish to use a lossy compression like jpeg for images since over time may wish to re-edit the file content and maintain its original quality (also may wish to save in 14 bit form). The PDF portfolio looks like an ideal function for keeping all the file types for the item together. I built a portfolio with a small docx document and a 4MB uncompressed, tif image file (census page). The entire pdf portfolio was 2MB. I then brought the portfolio into acrobat 9 and selected native viewing (Photoshop CS4). It shows the file as TIF and 4MB in size. How did the entire portfolio file be "compressed" into 2MB and yet maintain the original uncompressed TIF file with no quality loss? The generate PDF preference was set in acrobat to the default; jpeg medium quality.

Has nobody every wanted this function? It seems to me the key function of PDF portfolio's and it is blatantly missing in the online version. Whats up?!

  • How to get Acrobat Portfolio to print mix of duplex and single sided documents?

When we create a Portfolio of documents, one advantage is to be able to print the entire Portfolio (say of a new hire kit) with one print command.
The files in the portfolio consist of some that need to be printed one sheet per page and other files need to be printed on both sides of the sheet.
While we can do this by adding extra blank pages to the single sided docs and adding blank pages to make duplex docs an even number of pages,
this makes viewing the Portfolio online cumbersome.
We should be able to selected a printing option for each file in the portfolio.

    Hello Kalyan,
Have you tried changing the value on the offset number to 50 or 100?
Please look at the first part of the sample at Using Web Intelligence REST Web Services SDK to retrieve information about reports (JavaScript and C#)

Then you can try two things one is create a new user account and log in to see if that works.
then you can re install the printer driver and illustrator in the same order that you did on the computer that works.
Make certain you remove the printer from the printer list and trash botht he preferences an settings folder for the printer and illustrator before reinstalling.
Or perhaps your settings in the page set up is screwy from the print dialog access the page set up and make certain you have your printer selected and the right pages. Then in the print dialog make certain that you have defined by drivers.

  • Portfolio Searches

I have a rather large portfolio located on a remote server.  When I log in (via internet) and access the portfolio it does not take much time for the portfolio to appear.  However, when I perform the first search it takes several minutes.  Once the first search is completed the subsequent searches respond automatically.  Can anyone tell me why the first search takes so much time?

When you viewing the portfolio, only those bytes need to get copied over from the server that are needed to display. When you search, content of entire portfolio needs to get scanned, and maybe that's the reason it takes longer.

  • Content Viewer on different devices

    Basic Question:
Once users have downloaded the Content Viewers for iPad and/or Android,  is it possible to upload .folio files to other App markets such as the  new Amazon Android Appstore or Chomp or GetJar?

Thank you so much for the feedback. Yes, I created the file as an overlay (web content) and linked to the html file that is created when you build an Articulate Studio file. Is there a way to have it preview on the mobile device? Do I have to upload those files separately, somehow? If there isn't a way to preview it, does that mean it will not work when I go to publish it for real? In my latest preview, I can now hear the audio, but cannot see the video on my device (but this isn't every time). Another issue: when I go to preview the entire portfolio on my local computer using the Adobe Content Viewer, it never loads the preview--it just hangs on the load screen and I see "Proxy.folio" and the file never loads [see image below].
I have created one folio with articles in that folio and I have changed and updated those articles. I have also tried signing out and back in to the Adobe Content Viewer and I still see the duplicate files. I also tried restarting my devices to see if that would update everything and the duplicates are still there.

  • Adobe Content Viewer, Articulate Studio file

Hello! I am learning DPS bit by bit and have successfully begun publishing my document for viewing in the Adobe Content Viewer on different devices. Here are the issues I am having and the questions associated with those issues:
    1. When I publish my document and go to view it on my devices (Android tablet and iPad3), I get a gray box where I should have an Articulate Studio *.html file. I think it may be a memory issue, but how do I truly preview my DPS document so that I see all interactive content? I am assuming it is a memory issue, but it may be a linking issue to the Articulate file, though I am able to see the Articulate file when I preview just that article within my folio on my computer. The total filesize is about 33 Mb and I have seen on other posts that some magazines are 500Mb in size. Is the Adobe Content Viewer limited in its content file size for previewing publications?
    2. I have been publishing my file over and over and now have multiple copies of the file in my Adobe Content Viewer on both devices. How do I get rid of the duplicates and have only the most recently updated item on my device? Is this something I can do through the Folio builder online? (I am only seeing one file in the Organizer and Publish Requests.)
Thank you for any help with these questions.
    Sincerely,
    Amber Price

  • Movie Loader - Unload loader

I’m new to flash, but program in many other languages.
My movies are getting real large, so I needed to make a loader
program, that tells the user that the big movie is loading.
One thing that I have noticed, is that the loader loads the
movie and the movie plays, but the loader is still running in the
background. I can see the loader there if the movie does not have a
    background to cover the loader.
Do I need to unload the loader, or is this just normal?
Plus, sometimes the loader loads the movie, but the movie is
already in play for about 5 seconds on slow downloads.
Below is my code. Any help or knowledge would be much
    appreciated.

Well, some of these are so old I don't think tween extensions were really a thing yet. - Like Flash 6/7 content. Also, even some animations in Flash 8 etc. were very potpourri. I have no idea what I did on what occasion as I don't have the FLAs for a number of these portfolio examples.
I typically use TweenLite/TweenMax though. Before that I did use the flash.mx tween coding. I don't know when I made the transition. Late '07 I think.
I've found that all I can use in my current site is old school timeline-based frame animations because the player doesn't cash out info or something. Anything built in movieclips at all instead of on the main timeline gets ignored the second time around and doesn't play.
I'm lucky I have a at least a few that I did that or my entire portfolio site would be crapped. And I rebuilt this thing because AS2 didn't have frameRate controls. Meanwhile, a year and a half later, now this.
I can't do rich media examples, only standard banners, but it's at least something until I get more in my portfolio. I tried doing video grabs using Screenflow but cropping things perfectly was agonizing. So this is pretty much where it stands unless there's some kind of refresh command to communicate with the player above the DisplayContainer.
I haven' the foggiest what that might be.

  • 16 vs 32 for mostly phone data

I've used an iPod touch for a number of years and have a new iPad 32GB+3G, so I'm familiar with video/songs/apps & their data regarding storage space. I also have MobileMe and dropbox accounts for storing various files in the cloud.
I now seem to use the iPad for a lot of "laptop" activities along with surfing and emailing. I use an older Touch in my car for songs and have been using a newer one for many things I now do on the iPad. I have an old KRZR phone on VZ which I've held on to waiting for the iPhone to appear on VZ. Since the iPod touch needs wifi to communicate with the world and wifi isn't always an option, it occured to me that the iPhone would be the ideal way to combine my old cell phone with the Touch's capabilities and have wifi with 3G.
    So ... My question:
While I may store an occasional movie on an iphone, most of the data on it would be email copies from my IMAP accounts and a modest amount of voice messages. Other data files for various apps would be dynamic since I'd use the cloud to temporarily download them. Only a few would be kept long term, along with very few songs. Given all I've described, would 16GB be adequate? Or does the data from the phone component tend to grow very large?

Are you talking about data resulting from phone use?
No. In my experience, many users start out planning on using the iPhone just as you describe, only over time to in essence turn it into a "laptop" if you will. I've seen actual users with 30,000+ photos synced to there phones, in essence their entire portfolio. Just letting you know that whatever storage capacity you decide on, there is no way to increase that capacity should the need/desire arise.

  • Multiple libraries - why not?

I realize this might be beating a dead horse, but after reading around a bit I can't quite get why having multiple libraries is regarding as "bad".
I'm looking for alternatives to iPhoto; I am considering iPhoto Library Manager.
Reason: We (our home) have about 87,000 photos. Our iPhoto Library is 316 GB. Simply put: that's too big.
Now, I realize that iPhoto and Lightroom handle libraries differently, but the primary concern, as it is with iPhoto, is that all the eggs are in one basket. As I'm just starting with Lightroom, maybe the man negative considerations are that LR cannot open/search multiple libraries?  (If that's the case, it seems odd that LR would not let a user open multiple libraries simultaneously and transfer/copy between them.)
    Any help appreciated...
    thanks,
    Andrew

As far as searching multiple catalogs... well, we name everything we transfer and back up - hence, it would not be too much of a stretch to know to look in "Zoo Visit 2009" to find photos from our zoo visit in 2009... I can see where this would be trouble if someone didn't name catalogs.
This is the perfect situation to use a keyword.
However, I also realize that a catalog this miniscule might not make sense, so maybe it would be by year, with named subfolders or whatever the method is. Not sure yet...
The problem with catalogs by year is that you now have to remember the year of 87,000 photos. This is an impossible task, it cannot be done. Human memory simply doesn't work that way.
Even in the example of "Zoo Visit 2009", suppose you want that really cute photo of the kids outside of the monkey cage. Now again, you have to remember what year that was taken in order to find the photo. As I said, this is a place where human memory simply doesn't work well, and by splitting your catalog into years, you have made your search difficult. If you have one catalog, and search for keywords kids and monkey, the search is pretty simple. Your approach of catalogs by year makes sense only if you can associate a year with every single one of your photos in your memory, and then retain that memory. If you use keywords, this is a natural descriptor of the photo content, and photo content is the way everyone thinks of photos (kids, grandma, ocean, beach, winery, etc.)
The whole idea of using a database is to make finding the items you need as simple as possible. As soon as you start breaking things up into multiple databases, you have destroyed much of the usefulness of a database and you have to rely on your (fallible) memory.
Same comment applies to a single corrupted catalog; while backups are great, you might not necessarily know when it happens if it isn't something that either crashes the program or is otherwise not immediately noticeable.
There are no guarantees. Your solution of multiple catalogs then suffers from the same drawback, that your catalog can get corrupted, causing you to lose the organization and editing on those photos. (By the way, I should point out again that there are thousands ... 100s of thousands? ... millions? of Lightroom users who use catalogs and they work; very very very tiny percent ever report corrupted catalogs, but yes, there are no guarantees. Professionals who rely on Lightroom to access their entire portfolio have placed 500,000 images into a single catalog ... but there are no guarantees) If you are really that worried about catalog corruption, you'd be better off using your operating system to organize, you ought to avoid catalogs entirely and the problem goes away. Oh ... wait ... your file system is really just a database on your computer ... so I guess that same problem with a database would eliminate this as a possibility. I guess you should PRINT every single one of your photos, and then no computer glitches could destroy your photos or the organization ... oh wait ...
Listen, Andrew, if you want to use multiple catalogs, I wish you luck. I think that is 100% a horrible decision, but it's your decision.
