Signs of a Failing Battery?

I've noticed in the past week the battery has been very erratic. For example, I left the hotel room when it was about 75% charged and about 1 hour later it says 10% left. Now I can barely last a day without charging. Also, the phone fully charges very quickly, usually when I'm down to 25% power I can charge it backup fully within 1 and a half hours. Is that normal?

The battery meter calibration may be off, or there may be an errant process that's draining the battery.
1. Reset the phone by simultaneously pressing the home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple icon appears (ignore the red slider).
2. Let the battery drain until the phone shuts down (not just to the low battery warnings) and recharge fully - for at least 4 hours.
3. If the battery still doesn't function properly, it or the charging circuit may be bad. Make an appointment with your Apple Store Genius Bar: http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/

If my iPod Touch 5 battery is failing, can I pay Apple to send me a refurbished one before I send them the one with a failing battery? I don't want to go without my ITouch.  I really don't want to go without it but I dont want to have to purchase a new one.  The battery life is abysmal, and I am reluctant to upgrade my ios system to ios8 because all I ever see are complaints about upgrades killing the battery.  I am still on ios6.  When I upgraded my macbook pro (which is now DEAD) the battery got worse.
I am just sick of it.  I called apple about my itouch battery and the help was terrible.  All they were telling me to do was do a restart and UPGRADE TO THE LATEST IOS TO SEE IF THAT SOLVES THE BATTERY PROBLEM.  They would not even tell me what to do if that would not work.  Very rude.I kept asking and I finally had to find out myself through my own research that they cant replace the battery; instead they send you a refurbished ipod.  They never told me that on the phone and they kept giving me the run around when I kept asking them what I should do if the IOS upgrade did not work or made the battery worse.  Hopefully someone can answer my initial question.  Thanks guys.  I have a charger that I sometimes use plugged in to the ipod ( not all the time, I know that is bad for the battery)  and I thought my battery life should be better than it is because I sometimes use it on the charger  ( it should save the battery).

Not that I know of. You can do the exchange at an Apple store if they have refurbished ones in stock

  • Failed Battery - still Discharging

As titled, I'm having a battery problem with my HP MINI 2080-210nr. Recently the battery stopped working (would not power up the laptop), so now my netbook is a small desktop. The puzzling thing is, it is still discharging, as though the battery were operating properly, but it is not chargning at all. Currently I have to use AC power to get it to work. The charge has gone from 41% when i noticed the problem, to 17%, over a period of about 2 weeks.
I always plug the adapter into a surge protector.
Any thoughts as to why its happening? I just don't want it to reach 0% and the netbook doesn't work at all anymore.

I ran in to the same problem a year ago. I do not think there is anything Lenovo is willing to do about a failed battery but you can try. I bought a new pirate batter for $70 with shipping back then. The cheapest price I have found for a battery with shipping now is $67 at Best Buy:
    http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=210980381&listingid=41335392&dcaid=17902
Then you can revamp your failed battery for $30 by following this video:

my ipad 2 won't rotate. i tried reseting it severally my "Use Side Switch" is set to Mute and there is no rotation lock sign close to the battery sign in the upper right side

The software switch is in the task bar at the bottom. Double tap the home button and swipe to the right in the bottom of the screen. The speaker icon on the left would be where the software switch would be.
If you don't see a lock icon in the upper right corner, the screen isn't locked, reboot your iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Oh lordy, it's 'Sign In has failed. [svr.Unknown] again

OK, I have managed to downgrade to DPS 1.1.1 by uninstalling 1.8, re-installing InDesign 5.5 and then running the DPS 1.1.1 installer.
However, it won't let me sign in to Folio Builder. All I get is the dreaded 'Sign In has failed. [svr.Unknown]' message. I can sign in to CS services and Acrobat.com without problem using any of my Adobe IDs but Folio Builder will have none of it.
How do I get around this, again? Someone please remind me.
    Ali

There's no 'Downgrade' button or option, Bob. Just 'Uninstall', which appears to wipe everything DPS out of InDesign, including the original bits that are supposed to be part of InDesign 5.5. Thanks anyway.
I remembered the answer just after I posted my question: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/895566?tstart=0
It was in the forum FAQ, but I got sidetracked by the fact that the same error message appears when folio components use silly characters in filenames and folders. So again I have answered my own question. This isn't a forum, it's a psychiatrist's couch.

  • Abrupt Failing Battery and Kernel Panic?

About 3 days ago I experienced the first problem. My battery hit 0% and instead of my powerbook sleeping it just died.
On Reboot I got a "Mac OS X Unexpectedly Quit" dialog.. (unresolved kernel trap?), so I decided to reboot and reset the APU and PRAM. I received the kernel panic screen shortly after my desktop loaded which was alarming, so I restarted and received the kernel panic screen yet again. Thinking maybe it was due to heat I let the thing cool down for a while and restarted and it was fine.
However, I'm now going on my 5th abrupt powerdown when I hit 0%. I even tested it with nothing running and it just dies, and doesn't sleep.
The 12" powerbook is 18 months old and has 632 recharge cycles on it (I do web development and tend to move around while I work, guess I should have sat still and plugged in eh?).
I figure the abrupt shutdown is telling me I need a new battery, and checking it has 1939 of 4400mAh of its original capacity.
Interestingly enough I get about 1.5 hours of battery life still depending on usage, though it seems it likes to shudown and not sleep when it gets low.
My question is why the kernel panics and why is it failing so quickly all of a sudden?

Same thing going here with a two year old 1GHz 12". I was looking at the battery level display and it was 43% when it just died. I was ripping a cd and updating my iPod when it happened. The first time it happened there was a complete PRAM reset. The last couple times no messages or anything, and not sleeping, just shutting off without warning. I'm showing well over 400 cycles and about 1160 mAh full charge capacity. It's happened three times in the last month, and it started after I let my son play Lego Star Wars on the machine. I taught him to put the pb up on some popsicle sticks to help cooling, as it was very hot.

  • Is this a sign to replace my battery?

I have an ipod click wheel and it will not charge under the usb. I bought an AC charger and when i charge it, it will goto the Apple sign and then goto the symbol with the battery and an exclamation point. THen it will turn off for half a second and then repeat that whole process over and over again. When plugged in, it will not turn on the ipod and i can not even listen to music. Does this mean i need a replacement battery or that my ipod is not charging?
    Thanks

anyone? I would really like my ipod to work

  • White screen and "question" sign? Disk fail?

Hi there! After some hanging i switched of my iMac manually. Trying to restart then i've got a white screen with a blinking guestion letter on a folder icon... ^( Does it mean i've lost my startup disk? Or what? Tryed to restart from system CD (10.6) but disk utility shows no hard disk, but installation CD and somewhat called "media" - unformated with zero capacity... Some ideas?

The blinking question mark means your Mac can't find a valid OS on any attached disk to start from. Together with what Disk Utility shows, this is quite possibly a sign that the startup disk has failed. (This may be what caused the crash.)
However, I'm not sure what "media" might be. In Disk Utility, you can highlight it & press Command + i to get info about it. One of the items of info should be its "Disk Identifier." If that has an "s" in it (like "disk0s2") it is a partition on a drive; if not (like "disk0") it is an entire drive. If there is no "Disk Identifier" entry at all, it is something other than a drive or partition.
If it appears to be an entire drive, it may be the one containing the startup disk (IOW, your internal drive). This may mean that the drive has not failed, but only that its partition scheme info has become corrupted. If so, you can select it, switch to to Disk Utility 's "Partition" tab, reformat the drive, & restore it to a useable state. Note that this will erase anything on it, so if you do not have a backup you may want not to do this until you see if a data recovery utility (like Data Rescue II) can save any or all of your files.

  • Signing AUR packages fails

So I've managed to set up pacman with package signing after the latest upgrade (spending a lot more effort than I think should be necessary).
I'm now able to update all my packages from the main repositories like I used to. However, I still need to manually compile some of my programs from AUR package builds. I figured since I've already set up my private key with:
    pacman-key --init
I should be able to run makepkg with the --sign flag just fine, but I get an error after it creates the package and tries to sign:
    ==> Signing package...
==> WARNING: Failed to sign package file.
Obviously I'm doing something wrong, but for all my searching I can't figure out what to do. Thanks for help in advance.
Oh and the reason I'm doing this is because pacman won't let me install the package unless it's signed.

    thehodapp wrote:
I think I had the SigLevel at TrustedOnly but now I'm using "Optional TrustAll" which fixes my problem (in a more indirect way).
Is there some resource I could refer to so that I could sign my own packages? Or is it really not worth it?
Is someone likely to be able to access your built packages and modify/replace them in between your building them and your installing (or reinstalling) them?

  • Sign in Error: failed to find service connection url

    Greetings!
On my Windows desktop, when I try to sign into iTunes, I receive the following error:
"ConnectionManager::invoke::failed to find the service connection url"
I have seen all of the threads indicating other people had success when signing out, then signing in again.  I have not had any success with this.  I have unistalled iTunes, reinstalled, but the problem still avails.
The baffling thing is that I am able to sign in to iTunes just fine using my Macbook.
    Any ideas?  Thanks!

Fixed it.  I had to completely remove iTunes, reboot, rename my Music directory (which contains the itunes library), create a new Music folder, reinstall iTunes, reboot, and then it worked again.  What a pain!  Now I'm in the process of reimporting all of my media... but I can successfully sign in to iTunes.

    something's wrong.
copied my %APPDATA% to a backup drive (wanted to keep my settings, maybe it's a mistake with adobe?)
    uninstalled cs5 with deactivate
wipe and reinstall of windows (format, but not on th edrive that most of adobe was on)

reinstalled adobe to same place on f: drive

sorry I was not more complete. I can supply log info if someone can tell me how.
I used to apply manual updates to get the updates, but I stopped that since that tends to break the update process (AAM).
