Single phase inverter controlled by compactRIO

Hi guys, I am conducting my application which need a single phase grid-tie inverter. I want to find a custimized or commercialized single-phase grid-interactive inverter which allow the user to define the control algorithms. I wish I can controll this inverter on Real Time by my CRIO since I have already get these analog/digital I/O modules with my CRIO.
Do you guys any any recommendation for which inverter I can find to achieve this kind of function? or any other suggestion for my application.
BTW, I read there's some NI product called NI Single-Board RIO General Purpose Inverter Controller. Is that one have some specific function for inverter which CRIO doesn't have or it is just a single-board RIO which has similar function with a normal CRIO?
Peter

Hello sdualienware,
The functionality of the Single-Board General-Purpose Inverter Controller (GPIC) is defined by the code deployed to the hardware and may in fact, be used with a normal CompactRIO. I have included a few helpful links below that will not only help to explain the functionality and benefits of using the NI-RIO technology to perform this control (although most resources specifically point to the Single-Board RIO), but also provide sample code that may be used for single-phase inverter control.

  • Delta PLC with Single phase inverter

    Hello Everyone,
I've Delta DVP 20EXPLC. In this PLC, we can generate the pulsed outputs at Y0 and Y1. I wish to do the single phase inverter with the help of this pulses. Now, I am using four MOSFET which are going to operate the switches for inverting operations. Basic inverting operation is at that time pair of MOSFETs only should be on, remains or OFF. The problem for me is, When I'm giving the pulses from the PLC, the pulses of 4 MOSFETs are same, It cant operate with the above format. So, I didn't get inverted sine wave signal.
I hope that You can understand my status. If it is not sufficient, I am ready to explain deeply according to the reply. Please help me with out this problem.
OR If any possibilites are there for controlling the MOSFETs from VI...?

    Hello,
You application that controlls MOSFET only requires the digital output that can be transmitted using any industrial communication protocol.
I checked information about Delta DVP EX and found it supports these protocols: Communication port: Built-in RS-232 and RS-485, compatible with MODBUS ASCII / RTU communication pro....
LabVIEW supports all of them. You can find examples for the first two in LabVIEW's Help - Find Examples ...
You can download Modbus support from NI product page.

You have a voltmeter with 10 Megohm internal resistance in series with the output so no current can flow. Take out the voltmeter and the circuit works.

  • Read velocity from QUAD-510 using single phase sensor

Hello, for my application I'm using a proximity sensor to count pulses using the CTR-400. To obtain velocity, I can make some calculations based on frequency or period but I was wondering if I can delegate this annoying task to the QUAD-510 module At the moment I'm able to read velocity using an encoder, but what if I use a single phase sensor like a proximity?

    Hi,
Take a look at this document that talks about measurement with single phase and QUAD-510:

  • Measuring power at two different point (single phase)

    Hi all,
I am new user of LabVIEW 2013 with electrical power suite.
May i know how to measure two different point of single phase system using the same VI such as in DAQ power and energy example?
As I notice that there are several type of wiring available. Is only one voltage and one current availabe during 1 ph voltage and 1 current selection. Thus, when I select 3ph voltage and 2 current, the value I obtain is not seem to be true.
From the figure attached, I want to measure the voltage at current at the solar/PV  to obtain the power value. Other than that, I also need to measure the voltage and current at the load such as water heater. This is a single phase configuration network.
(2 voltage and 2 current measurement at single phase)
    Hope for guidance.

    Hi Lewis,
    Here attached the file.
Actually I wanted to measure power two different point in a single phase system as shown in the first attachement.
Since, there is example in power quality measurement(DAQ) as shown in the second attachment.
since there is two measuring point in my measurement. May i know how to obtain two measurement voltage at the same time in DAQ?
    Hope for guidance.

  • Error query.vi in my D6000 single phase

hello everyone , recently I am using the Labview 2009
I am running the program LEM D6000 single phase.vi
but in the Error Query.vi(inside D6000 Config Measurement block) there is always a mistake, Error 1300,, because after the VISA read , there comes in a number and compared to those constant number, first row and first column is 16, which somtimes is smaller than the number comes in , so it gives the comparison result as T, Error happens
so I changed 16 to 64, no more errors comes up
So I wonder what is the real function of Error Query is , and why shall I change the constant number to avoid the errors, although I make it work, but I want to know why.
    Thank you very much

The error conditions and the Event Status Register should be documented in the instrument manual. Not sure where to start with the basics. There are individual bits in the ESR and the instrument will set specific ones depending on the actual error that the instrument detects. Are you familiar with Boolean math? Bit number 4 reflects a specific error. If you want to check to see if the bit is set, you would AND it with decimal 16 or binary 10000. If bit 1 is set, the result of the AND is 1. You decided to AND it with 64 (a check of bit 5) and by doing that, you are no longer checking to see if bit 4 is set. That is ignoring the error. If you want to ignore any errors, don't run the error query program. Changing the code is just plain wrong.

  • Phase wise control

    Hello All
We have a key requirement to have phase wise control. Unlike any IT Organization, our project cycle moves from one phase to another and has predefined set of activities to be done when exiting phase. We created all phases as Top tasks on our projects ,when phase/top task is completed system need to check if set activities are done and also restrict cost bokking
I understand there is no task status control unlike project status control in Oracle Projects. Can some one help a way to achieve this.
On R12 using PJT and PA accounting
    Thanks
    PVTK

    Hi
You may enable the deliverables on the workplan. For each task enter the list of deliverables, which will represent the activities you want to check for completion.
The project manager will need to update the progress on those deliverables, and that way you will know if and when the task is completed.
For cost control you may utilize the transaction control client extension. You can develop with in that client extension the logic to check if the task has completed all its deliverables. In such case new expenditures will not be allowed on that task.

  • Does it mandatory to use Delta/WYE 3phase PDU for CRS1 8 slot deployment? Can we just use default single phase AC power-shelves?

does it mandatory to use Delta/WYE 3phase PDU for CRS1 8 slot deployment? Can we just use default single phase AC power-shelves?

The fixed power supplies (legacy / zone based system) require 3-phase AC-Delta/WYE.
The modular power supplies do not use a zone based system and require a single phase. You can order a CRS PDU to convert 3-phase AC input (from power source) to single-phase AC input for the power shelf.

  • Single Line Text Control (H&J) Tip & Question

The attached image is tip for anyone that is looking to constrain InDesign to use the width of a text field (maintaining a single line, good for a variable data field), while allowing characters to smash if they exceed the amount that would normally cause a text frame overflow. Texts in Red; are the settings that are necessary for this functionality. There is a limittation that is outlined in the graphic; that "Glyph Scaling" with no more than a Min of 50% or a Max of 200% (Paragraph Panel > submenu > Justification) is available, which limits its' full potential.
While looking over this, if you have any thoughts on how to build on these settings to allow even more control, please do reply!
    Thanks!

I do similar with business card layouts. Handy when the layout has already been decided, without adequate forethought, and the client recruits a Greek guy.

  • Need guide on how to design LabVIEW layout for displaying an output from Kelly Controller to control the CompactRio

Hi guys. Do need some help here.
My task is to design a LabVIEW design shematic to display the regeneration current drawn from the BLDC motor through Kelly Controller with an output voltage range of 0-5V. The Kelly Controller is to communicate with the CompactRio. However, I do not know how to start it and I'm kinda new to LabVIEW.
Really appreciate any kind help and guide that can progress me ahead. Thanks.

    Hi kienyang90,
CompactRio guide can be found in NI website via this link http://www.ni.com/pdf/products/us/fullcriodevguide.pdf
By reading the guide, you will get an idea on how it works.
To connect compactRio with external module or sensor, you need an i/o module.
for example an analog input module is this one http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/208798
You have to pick modules depend on what kind of output source you are going to give to the compactRio
    Hope this help

  • Single FP Bool control always get keydown focus??

    Hi Folks,
I'm a little sheepish about posting this, because it seems like such a trite thing, but the last two very simple VI's have suffered from this problem. When entering data into a numeric control, and hitting /r, the default action is to activate my STOP button (!!). I monitored the bool's KeyFocus value while tabbing, entering data, etc, but I never see it get focus. However anytime I hit the enter key... I did a quick work-around prior by simply filtering the /r... I had planned to discard this keydown *if* STOP had focus, but this doesn't seem to be the case. Thoughts? It's quite annoying!
PS - I tried moving the bool in and out of the TAB control (used here for decoration purposes)
    Cheers,
    Jamie

Those pesky system booleans come with a preset Keyboard navigation that toggles the button whenever return is pressed.  Right-click ->Properties -> Keyboard Navigation then change Toggle to None.

  • Solution for Low-Cost Single-Axis Motion Control?

    Hello,
I am currently researching the options that NI has available for low-cost linear actuators.  I am looking to replace the functionality of a pneumatic solenoid with a linear actuator.  I would like to create a system that uses strictly NI hardware and software.  The system should be capable of the following:
Push an object with a maximum force of 500LB
    Max stroke of 1 foot
Ability to monitor and control the position of cylinder (how far to extend preset)
Ability to stop/reverse the travel at any point along the stroke
Ability to control the velocity of the cylinder (preset)
The parameters for velocity and stroke length (0-12") would be set before the actuator begins to move, hopefully from a LabVIEW operator interface.  These would not be changed on the fly.  Any reccomendations would be welcome!
    Thanks

I suggest first deciding what motor you want to use.  After you choose a motor, you can choose a drive.
NI offers two drives - the MID-765x for servo motors and MID-760x for stepper. motors.  You can then connect the drive to an NI motion controller via a cable.  If the specifications of these NI drives (see manuals) are not compatible with your motor, you can use a 3rd party drive instead.  If you use a 3rd party drive, you will need to purchase a breakout box to connect an NI motion controller's signals to the 3rd party drive.  NI offers two breakout interfaces - the UMI-7764 for a screw terminal interface and the UMI-7774 for a D-sub interface.
The NI motion controllers that I would recommend are the 7330 (for stepper only), 7340 (stepper/servo), and the 7350 (stepper/servo).  The NI-Motion driver will allow you to command the motor to move to specified positions dynamically and monitor the current position.  You can also set velocity constraints or set the velocity directly.
You can find more information on all the NI hardware that I have mentioned on the NI Motion Hardware page.  This page lists features for the hardware and provides links to product pages (which contain links to the product manuals).
