SLN depreciation method macro

Hi
While using @SLN function, I am not able to flow the depriciation value across months of various years.
I created a macro which is not giving an optimum result.
Can anybody help me on this.
Macro created was:
create or replace macro Test.'@MYMACRO'(group,group,group,group,group)
as '@SLN (@@S,@Children ( "Year" ))' spec '@MYMACRO (exp1,exp2,exp3,exp4)' comment 'test';

Hi,
In middle of the fiscal year if you change the depreciation key or method system will made the difference posting.
So for one year you post depreciation in either SLM or WDV. and post the difference amount either debit or credit through unplanned depreciation.
After you close the fiscal year change the depreciation key/method in asset master. So system will not post any depreciation due to change in depreciation key/method.
Revert back incase of any issues

Sankar

  • Recalculation of dep by change in depreciation methods from wdv to slm

    Dear all,
advice me as per indian accounting standard. I am in great need for this solution.
    my scenerio
    we are on ECC 5.0.
As per the standards if an organization change its depreciation method e.g from WDV to SLM or vise versa, system should recalculate the depreciation for all assets from first acquisition date. i am trying to explain the situation the following example:-
    first acquisiton in assets X - 4/1/2000 for 50,00,000/-
    dep method - WDV CALCULATED @ 13.91
both PLANT -1, PLANT-2 are in the same company code 1000.
in PLANT -1 - WDV METHOD
in PLANT-2 - SLM METHOD are used
up to 05.11.2007 the asset X is in PLANT -1 & dep is calculating @ 13.91 on WDV method.
on 06.11.2007 the asset X is transferred from PLANT -1 to PLANT-2 in which SLM METHOD @ 4.75%
    is used.
    present scenario
Depreciation is calculated up to november (8th period) of current year @ 13.91 on WDV method.
on this situation system should recalculate the past depreciation from 04.01.2000 as per SLM method and post the surplus in dec'08. i.e, reduce the depreciation amount in the current year.
is above situation is possible in SAP. if yes please explain in detail. if not then what is the best possible way to meet this requirement.
    Thanks & regards,
    Sandeep

Yes Sandeep, Change the Depr key (Depr method). Run AFAR to see whether the system recalculates the Depr for atleast the current FY, if not for the previous FY's.
Now Manually calculate the Difference in depr till last FY (WDV Depr minus SLM Depr) and post the difference amount thru ABZU transaction.
Check to which account the ABZU post the excess depr.  You can post a rectification entry for the excess depr posted thru ABZU, if you want to transfer it from the existing account to the new account, for accounting purpose.
Please follow these steps in an order & revert in case you still have any questions.

  • Hard Issue: How to setup this uncommon Depreciation Method??

Hello All, thanks very much for reading my thread.
We faced an hard issue on FA.
    Scenarios:
according to client's company policy, assets should can be depreciated after useful life! For example:
Asset "A", life year is 4 years. During 4 years, each year depreciation is "Cost * (1 / (Life + 1))" , after 4 years, each year depreciation is "Previous year depreciation * 1/2" until asset "A" is retired.
    Year Depreciation
    1 cost * 1/5
    2 cost * 1/5
    3 cost * 1/5
    4 cost * 1/5
    5 cost * 1/5 * 1/2
    6 cost * 1/10 * 1/2
    7 cost * 1/20 * 1/2
Do R12 can meet above requirement ? We try to use "Formula Depreciation Method" to setup, but finally we found Oracle Ebs NOT allow depreciate after useful year. In addition, does ebs R12 can set asset continuing depreciation after useful year????
If you are setting the Depreciation Method Formula, what is the formula you will give??
Do you have any proposal ?
    Thanks a lot!! ^_^

    Hello,
For uncommon depreciation methods, i usually do an "Unplanned Depreciation" on the asset. That is, I calculate it manually and adjust the depreciation.
Well this might be a workaround if ever no one come up with a standard solution.

  • Depreciation method for depreciation reintegration

    Hello Guys,
I have a question on depreciation reintegration.
    Businss Case:
Supposing that we have a given asset 2xxxx capitalized on 01.03.2009 and current period is 6 (and amortizations have been posted until period 5 included).
In most of the cases, our company scraps, sales or transfers its assets on an asset value date anterior to the current period, for example 01.04.2009.
How can I configure depreciation reintegration???
From my point of view, I need to focuse on depreciation method and on depreciation key (T_code AFAMA).
Do you have any idea witch of the following method should I focused on?
    Base method?
    Thanks for your comments.
    Regards,
    Karim

Assign this key to an asset and check it in your asset explorer if it depreciates fully within its useful life.
You can also add some config in your existing depr key..
in line 1.. select change method = 5,
add another line w/ ord depre, phase=2, Base method=017, multilevel method=002 and that warning message will go away.
check again in asset explorer if this is what you want.

  • Urgent: Degressif  / Digressive Depreciation Method for France

    Hello,
Has anyone implemented degressif / digressive depreciation method for France?
Per my understanding, the method starts of as a declining balance method and when straight line depreciation is higher, it switches to straight line depreciation method. This part is easy, can be achieved by changeover method.
    1) However, after the switch, the asset is supposed to fully depreciate in two-years (even though that would mean shorter useful life than what is specified). This is the part where I am running into issues. I tried using a base method with explicit percentage, but SAP still continues the depreciation over remaining useful life - which is more than 2 years.
    2) Secondly, the switch is supposed to occur at the beginning of a fiscal year, so changeover will happen beginning of the subsequent year and will get completed in two years.
Can anyone share their experiences in implementing this in SAP? Also, if anyone has link to the French Deggressif Depreciation in English, please share.

  • New Depreciation method

    Hi Experts
In our company we are following depreciation method - SLM in one company code. And in another company they require WDV method depreciation. Please reply what are the configurations required in that company code.
    Prakash.

    Hi,
Configurations are same whatever you do for Asset accounting, only while creating depreciation keys, instead of SLM method, you have to select WDV where ever it require.

  • What to do for automatically change over of PHASE from 1 to 2  in case of multilevel method of depreciation.

    Hi all
As per the statutory requirement we want to maintain Multilevel method of depreciation in which we have maintained two phases given as below-
    Dep/int.
    phase
    base method
    decl. bal method
    prd cont
    mutilev. Method
    change. Me
    change over % rate
    ordinary dep
    1
    ZMR1
    0
    001
    Z02
    2

    ordinary dep
    2
    0011
    0
    001
    001
    0

Because asset need to depreciate upto 70% of its net book value on the basis of SLM percentage base as per phase 1.
After that it must shift to phase 2 ,where depend upon remaining useful of that asset , balance value of asset need to be spread over.
But while testing in, it is not automatically shifted to phase 2 directly once asset reaches its 70% (ie.once condition given phase one get exhausted)
Then pls guide me what to do for automatically change over of PHASE from 1 to 2 ??
    Thanks and regards
    Manjusha  G.

    Hi Manjusha,
To meet your requirement, you have to mention changeover in T code AFAMA-changeover method "2" and the changeover % 70 and in second line you can give phase 2 changeover within planned life and give your depreciation methods after changeover.
    Refer the sample screenshot.
    Hope it solves..

  • How to switch back to old depreciation calc method during upgrade to ECC6.0

    Hi Everyone,
We are doing a technical upgrade from 4.6C to ECC 6.0 and we have activated the enterprise extension EA-FIN via SWF5 (switch framework) to use the functionality of accrual engine, closing cockpit etc. However, activating EA-FIN has activated the new depreciation calculation method (Period based depreciation calculation) which, we do not want. We still want to continue using old depreciation method (transaction based depreciation calculation).
So, is there a customization that turns off the new depreciation calculation? Or an OSS note? I read in SDN Wiki and it said, one has to post a customer message (OSS) to SAP and they in turn provide the notes to switch back to old depreciation method and also it is mentioned that these notes are not available in service market place. Is that how it is? Had anyone got into this issue before? Please help me in this regard.
    Thanks in advance,
    K

You already found your answer on the Wiki:
I read in SDN Wiki and it said, one has to post a customer message (OSS) to SAP and they in turn provide the notes to switch back to old depreciation method and also it is mentioned that these notes are not available in service market place.
What is not clear about that?

  • Depreciation Posting for Unit of Production Method

    HI,
This question is related to posting of Unit of Production depreciation method.
Ref to my own Thread - Hourly Depreciation on Assets
I have configured the deprecitaion key for UoP method. The same is been assigned in Asset Master.
But now the problem is, during AFAB processing the assets with UoP depreciation key is not getting picked.
Is there any other way to post the depreciation for such asstes?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ajay Gupte

    Hi,
    Thanks for your replies.
    1. UL field status is optional in "screen layout for depreciation areas" config and we do not want to change to any other method, t.code OA77 does not exist.
As per help for field UL it says "If a useful life is not entered in the asset class, and you use depreciation keys that calculate automatically, this field is a required entry regardless of the settings in the screen layout control".
    2. Thanks for this we are using 0018, if we use 0019 it is calculating.
I will try this and let you know.

  • Fixed Asset: Current Year Depreciation

    Dear Experts,
Previously, fixed assets was managed manually in an excel sheet and depreciation was calculated manually in the excel sheet.
My client wants to start using the FA Addon in March. I managed to import all the fixed asset master data with its Cost, Acc. Depn and NBV. They all tally with the GL balances as at 31.12.2010 which is the last day of the accounting year.
However, I have problem with the current year accumulated depn figure. When I run depreciation for Jan-Feb, the figure does not tally with the GL balances as at 28.02.2011.
    For example:
    Fixed Asset Cost: $5,859.00
    In SAP B1
    Depreciation method: Straight-line depreciation
Calculation medthod: Percentage of Acquisition Value
    Percentage: 33.33%
Planned monthly depreciation: $162.77  <-- Not sure how B1 get this figure
Therefore, accumulated depreciation for current year as at 28.02.2011 = $325.54
    Manual via Excel
    Depreciation method: Straight-line depreciation
Calculation medthod: Percentage of Acquisition Value
    Percentage: 33.33%
    Accumulated depreciation for current year as at 28.02.2011=  ($5,859 x 33.33%) / 12 x 2 = $325.47
How do I get the current year depreciation to tie with the GL?

    Hi Joyce,
I understand the issue you are facing is that
accumulated depreciation for current year as at 28.02.2011(calculated by Fixed assets addon) = $325.54,
    but
    accumulated depreciation for current year as at 28.02.2011(calculated by excel)= ($5,859 x 33.33%) / 12 x 2 = $325.47
you want to know how system calculate the accumulated depreciation as $325.54?
in order to make it clear,
please let me know how did you define the FA master data, such as the net book value, useful life, remaing life and so on.
Please check the FA master data->general tab and calculation tab,as it is not possible to attach the screenshot to show the relevant data, please log a SAP message for the further assistance.
    Kind regards,
    Eleven
