Software update data back up problems

Hi,
So I've just got around to updating my 9360 to what I think is 7.1
After I deleted the unused languages and created space for it, the phone started a data back up But when it got to 15% it just stopped and didn't move, I left it all evening (so about 4hrs) and still nothing, so I turned it off and took the battery out. I put it back in again and the back up started again, but this time it got to 8% and stopped , I left it over night but nothing.
Any ideas? Because the phone is rendered useless until this is finished. Oh and also, I've tried plugging it in to mycomputer to updatethrough the software but obviously it won't connect
Thanks, Tim

There are two methods of recovery for you to try:
One:
Open Blackberry Desktop Software & Connect your device with PC using USB cable, without inserting battery.
You will get three option Retry, Update Or Cancel, then click on update.
Once it is to the stage of the update "initializing handheld", then insert battery.
If this does not work, and you remain stuck on the backing up the Social Feeds database, go to the second method below.
Secondly:
Start your BlackBerry in Safe mode.  Article ID: KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Modehttp://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB17877
Connect to the BlackBerry Desktop Software and allow your handheld to connect. If you are prompted to upgrade, cancel the upgrade for later.
IF you cannot connect or your Desktop Software does not recognize your device while in Safe Mode, please follow the directions here to force the detect:  Article ID: KB10144 How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader
Go to Device > delete > SELECT DATA > select to delete both the Social Feeds and Smart Card databases, and follow the remaining prompts to complete it.
Now, you can return and click to upgrade the device through the Desktop Manager, or reboot the BlackBerry in normal mode and continue the over the air upgrade.

Hard Drive warning when upgrading to Mountain Lion. 2nd try and I was able to upgrade. Software update for IPhoto, had problems restarting. Do I need my hard drive checked

    Yes.
Choose Apple menu > Restart. Hold down the Command (⌘) and R keys as your computer restarts.
When you see a white screen with an Apple logo in the middle, you can release the keys.
Click Disk Utility, and then click Continue.
In the list at the left, select the item you want to repair. (Be sure to select an item that’s indented to the right in the list, not an item at the far left.)
    Click First Aid.
If Disk Utility tells you the disk is about to fail, back it up and replace it. You can’t repair it.
    Click Repair Disk.
If Disk Utility reports that the disk appears to be OK or has been repaired, you’re done.
Otherwise, you may need to do one of the following steps.
If Disk Utility can’t repair your disk or it reports “The underlying task reported failure,” try to repair the disk or partition again. If that doesn’t work, back up as much of your data as possible, reformat the disk, reinstall Mac OS X, and then restore your backed-up data.
If you continue to have problems with your disk, it may be physically damaged and need to be replaced

  • Mountain Lion Software Update date remains the same?

The Software Update date (last check) always remains the same, is this a temporary fault? Anyone else having this problem?

    Hello,
I'm sorry I don't have really any more ideas, I agree I really couldn't be bothered to re-install Mountain Lion for this, if I were you I'd wait and see if 10.8.1 sorts it or make a Genius Bar appointment at an Apple store (if you live near one, mine is an hour away by train).
I'm also waiting on advice from my brother-in-law who maintains the Macs and Mac network in a publishing house. I'll post here if he says anything that might help.
I appreciate it is annoying but it may not be a problem even if it stays like that, when I bought my new MacBook pro (Snow Leopard) I used Migration Assistant to transfer my data from my white MacBook (also Snow Leopard) and from then until the release of Lion the following July the date was stuck on something like 28th November but updates still installed fine. I was pleasantly surprised when Lion jolted the 'last check' back into life, which is why I was annoyed it looked like Mountain Lion had frozen it again!
Anyway I hope it gets sorted, because although mine has updated I would like it to register my manual checks too.

  • How to clear old Software Update data as well as Report Data

    Hi,
due to some problems with the software update scan we removed the sup role and the wsus server from our site server. After the removale i checked the Software Updates Console node and saw that all synced updates will still be shown with a grayed symbol in front. Also the reports will show the last scan dates as well as other informations related to software updates.
Is there a way to clean these datas  ? Deleting the computer object will not delete these datas.
How can i clean up such stuff ? Is there an SQL task?
    thanks

Yes, I know this is an old post, I’m just trying to clean them up.
All this data will automatically get clean out of the site server once the site maintenance task have a chance to run.

  • MAC OS X  Software Updates Data Check

    Hello everyone,
i have a little problem. I get my internet connection trough a company network which is protected by a watchguard hardware firewall. The company network itself is not professionally configured and sometimes internet trough wifi dissapears if network internal backup procedures are happening. Long story short, i see that my Software Updates in Snow Leopard are partially downloaded on my Hardrive, but i have fears that the instable internet connection / Firewall maybe has corrupted the downloaded data. Is there something like a crc error check or maybe a md5 hash check built in Mac OS X to avoid installation of corrupted data on the Mac itself ?

Why not just download the updates from the Apple web site? http://support.apple.com/downloads/

  • Iphone 4 software update leading to sound problem?

I have a iphone 4 and after the software update 7.1, whenever I'm listing to music the slider where you control how loud it is vanishes from the screen and I can't hear anything I've tried turning it on and off that works for 5 minutes then it does it again, this also happens when I'm talking on the phone, or watching netflix. Thanks

Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches after installing new software.
If this does not work, set it up as new device, explained here:

  • SCCM - Software update roll back

    Hi All,
CAn some one share step -by step guide to roll back the deployed software updates.
    Regards,

To put it at a high level:
    - Find the uninstall string/command-line for an update (not all updates can necessarily be uninstalled though)
    - Create an empty package with a single program containing that uninstall string/command-line
    - Advertise that program to the desired systems
The above is scriptable so that you really just create a script that you put in a package and program and then advertise that finds the appropriate uninstall command-line for an update and then runs it. I think a few folks have example scripts like
this posted on their websites (like ccmexec.org).
Ultimately though, there's nothing built in for this as Garth pointed out.

  • Mac os x server software update data location

Does anyone know how to change the data location of Mac OS X Server (v3) Software Update?
I'd like to move it to a large RAID permanently connected to the server but I can't find the command in serveradmin.
    Cheers,
    Kirk

Why not move the whole boot disk and Serve.app and the rest out to the RAID array?  It's not like OS X is that big a hunk lately in comparison with the size of various RAID arrays, and relocating the whole configuration means you won't have to deal with a piecemeal relocation, nor any future upgrade weirdnesses that might arise from the relocation.
That approach aside, Mavericks Server storage is mostly under the /Library/Server path.  I haven't tried relocating indidual hunks yet, either.
Ah, slightly misread...  You could shut off Software Update entirely, and use Reposado.  That'll let you do what you want.
The other hunk you'd probably want to move is the Caching Server.

  • Software update issues - made more problems for me

My Q10 just downloaded a new Software release 10.1.0.4189
I was excited because I had hoped it would solve the issue of the ring tones NOT working for TEXT messages.
NOT ONLY did it not correct that...
    1. BUT I lost all of my videos and pictures in the Media Hide APP...
    2. It duplicated several contacts... not all but some... so that is weird... and honestly it seems to duplicate contacts that are listed by a Business Name.... those were the majority of duplicates.
    3. The little pictures I assign to contacts and the logos for businesses... are messed up... at least the LOGOS for businesses are not self sizing so you can not tell what it is in the contact screen (none of these were issues yesterday)
    4. When I try to delete the duplicates from the contacts... the trash icon jumps to the left when I touch it... and it will NOT let me delete the duplicates... so I am forced to do it thru my OUTLOOK on the computer
I just downloaded the software update 2 hours ago... so I have no idea what else may have gone WRONG with it...
I do not even know what this update was supposed to be fixing... because the text ring tones are all I am MOST upset about loosing and it looks like the wording on the contacts changed to say EMAIL ring tones... instead of text... and I do NOT have one single BBM contact.... so TEXT and BBM should share that feature... since EMAIL is now a stand alone contact ringtone... so many features center around BBM and I have no blackberry friends...

It just seems bizarre that the text/ringtone issue would not immediately be resolved.  Text is the way more people communicate today over vocal calls...and..the feature existed in previous systems. How could it not exist in their newest product??
You had mentioned u downloaded the newest update with the hope the text issue was resolved.  Why did you think it would be?  Did they ..BB..say they had a fix?
Another issue..that perhaps someone could help me with on same issue is that when I text using the q10...the text space is two lines....and if that a text happens to run three lines ...i can no longer see what I am texting...until..it is sent.  Thus makes no sense..as this too was not part of the previous sysems where you were ALWAYS on last letter typed.  Anyone else that that issue and perhaps know the fix?

  • Palm Pre for Sprint Data Back Up Problem

I am having issues with data back up with my Palm Pre for Sprint - Palm webOS 1.4.1.1
I have the setting set so "On" so the data is set to back up automatically to my Palm Profile every day, however it has not backed up automatically since June 5th.  I just noticed this today (June 17th), and I have tried today to manually back up the data by choosing "Back Up Data Now" button, but the screen just gets hung up indefinitely with a note saying "Preparing" without ever backing the data up.
On a related note, between June 6th & June 10th I took a trip to Canada where my phone was International Roaming - so I can understand why it might not back under those circumstances - but I returned to the US on June 10th and it has not backed up automatically since and it does not appear that it is able to back up manually either.
Has anyone had a similar issue or know what I might do to remedy this?

  • Software Updater & iTunes 6.0 Problem - No tunes on iPod

I know several posts have raised this but I have yet see a solution posted or any comment from Apple.
I have a 30gb iPod and run iTunes on XP. I was recently prompted to update the iPod Updater software and downloaded the 2005-09-23 version. I then tried to sync my iPod to iTunes running version 5 of iTunes and was prompted to Restore the software on the iPod first. Once this was completed it appeared to start Syncing but about 2000 tunes into an 8000 tune transfer the PC emits two tones (like when the the iPod unmounts) and throws the iPod out of iTunes. The PC does not identify the iPod as still mounted so I have to restart the iPod manually, whereupon I see that the iPod library has only a handful of tracks loaded (usually 7, though my record yesterday was 22).
I have repeated the process several times with the same result.
The I checked for a patch and was pleased to see a more up to date iPod updater - 2005-10-12 - so I downloaded and used this - same problem.
Finally, I checked the version of iTunes and saw that a version 6.0 was available. Thinking that this may be the issue I have downloaded this too. But still the problem persists. I thought I had just cracked it as the sync got almost half way through before throwing me out - only to find 8 tunes had actually made their way onto the iPod!!
Since encountering these problems XP has also been alerting me to a Crash Diagnostics page indicating that a a device driver is causing the PC serious errors. I'm now assuming this is linked to the iPod/iTunes problem.
I have looked at all the topics here and can find nothing to help. I am also very disappointed NOT to find anything officially posted by Apple themselves, assuming they must be aware of this issue.
If anyone has any news or can suggest a fix then I would be very grateful!!
    Thanks

Okay. Seeing as Apple obviously do not read these forums and also do not see fit to respond to emails, I eventually called them up.
Whilst there was no real acknowledgment of a widespread problem we did reach a compromise position which was that the only solution is to roll back the versions of updater to a version which last worked (like a 'last known good configuration').
To do this you will need to have the CD that came with your iPod and you will also need to uninstall the current versions of Updater and iTunes.
I did get the agent to promise to speak to his superiors about getting some sort of news update put on the website to this effect, but I wouldn't hold your breath!
I am going to try this solution now and will post again if I encounter any issues. Otherwise, assume it solves the problem!
    Good luck.

  • The Apple software update cycles back to the original page after clicking on  install - accept

    Hello
Everytime I click on the update page it cycles back through the T&Cs to the update page & bypasses downloading the files. Can anybody help?

  • N95 software update - one touch connection problem...

I was having problems connecting my laptop running Windows XP Professional to the internet via bluetooth, so i updated the N Series PC Suite Software. Now I can connect to the internet via bluetooth but cannot connect via USB cable.
