[SOLVED]How to send email to a local user?

I have installed Mutt, msmtp, procmail and I can send and receive emails to/from remote hosts and I'd like to send email locally also (to the recipients on the same machine as the sender).
When I try to send email to a local user from the root account -
echo "Test message" | mail -s "Test subject" localuser
then I get an error that connection to the port 25 is refused. Because the /etc/msmtprc file contains the 'localhost' as the default account's host, and on the local host I don't have a mail server listening on 25 port running.
When I try to send email from a non-root account which has in /$HOME/.msmtprc file a real email account on a remote server, then of course there is an error that the domain for the email address 'localuser' is not recognized.
How can sending email to local users be enabled?

If I understand correctly, postfix it's a constantly running daemon. Seems to be an overhead for delivering only from time to time sent messages.

Currently I have msmtp-mta installed, which is described as having sendmail functionality. If I install sendmail - will it be possible to send local email without running email daemons?

I see in the documentation that "Attendees can be invited to events via email if they don’t have an iCal Server account." Is there a way to send email invitations to local users instead of push notifications? The server would be migrating from Exchange and everyone is accustomed to/wants email invitations for calendar events.
I've already purchased a copy of Lion Server (10.7.4) and pretty much everything is setup. Sadly I'm just now running into this issue. Email invitations to non iCal server accounts work fine.

Go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, and click on your Apple ID and sign out of Messages. Then sign on again. Sometimes it needs to reset itself....

How to send Email Notifications to OID users?

Hi All,
I have a requirement where I need to send an email notification from the BPEL process. The Email notification has to be sent to a used who invoked the process the userName is provided in the initiation parameters. But I need to fetch the email id for the give userName from the OID which is integrated with the BPEL Process Manager.
Is there any way I can fetch the email addresses from the OID in BPEL ?

Hi Folks, Finally I found the answer... If the APP server is integrated with the OID(Identity Management is set to Oracle Internet Directory and configured properly) the function ora:getUserProperty(bpws:getVariableData('myUser'),'mail') should return the mail property of the user object in OID.
If your Identity Management is set to the File-Based system then it will get the user properties from the $ORACLE_HOME/bpel/system/services/config/user_properties.xml.

How to send email distribution to all users from report ?

Once the reporis being generated, it will distirbute to all the email id list. Will this possible ? or any other better way to handle this ?

hello,
you need to use 9i or 10g for that. there you would set the "repeat on" property of you report to the group your report is based on. this will create one instance of your report for each person.
then you need to use advanced distribution, create a distribution XML file that defines your desired email distribution with dynamic TO value.

finally I got a solution
Identified a workaround to solve the issue using SharePoint designer.
Step 1
Create a lookup list Example department
Columns
Title (by default) – Single line of text
Users – Person or Group
Emails – Multiple lines of text
hidden the Emails column (go to content type and set the column as hidden)
Create a SharePoint designer Workflow
Start Workflow automatically when an item is created
Also Start Workflow automatically when an item is changed
Workflow Stage 1
Set Emails to current Item: Users
The workflow will get all users email ids and add in the Emails column delimiter as semicolon.
Step 2
Create a custom list to get the email ids and send email
Create a lookup column ex: analysis and refer department list, Allow multiple values
Then Create a SharePoint designer workflow

How to send email notification in different languages in Workflow? Can anyone send me some useful guidelines or link where it is mentioned.

There is no profile option available to specify whether send or not send email notification.
But after login, in preferences youcan set the notification preference value by which you can configure whether to send or not
to send email notifications.
If you select ''Do not send me mail' or 'Disabled' it will not send.
For other values it sends the notfication in different formats like text, html, attachments etc...

I think if you set destype=mail, desformat=PDF, and desname=[email protected] that should also do the trick.
Just be sure that you have put your mail server's IP address in the rep_<machine_name>.conf file located in your <oracle_home>/reports/conf directory. If this is not set up, the mail feature won't work.

I just got my Note4 and the phone's Help tells me that I need to select the email, then the bottom menu will populate with a little red circle with a + in it. I am to click that and the email address is sent to spam. But my bottom menu is NOT giving me that spam icon to click. How can I block emails? Or how can I get that little icon to show up?

go to your mail providers setup guide and compare every single setting to how your smtp setup in your settings are set
and if they are not the same change yours to match their page
and if they are the same contact your isp to inquire as to why they are blocking the ports your mail provider are using

Problably code is correct, need to speak with System administrator of mail server/exchange to know what rules exist on server mail.
Verify if server mail validate IP from server to allow send mail.
Verify if exist some rule from server mail that validate sender with some domain "[email protected]"
Verify if Email server have relay active to send Emails externaly
Verify what type of authentication exist on you server Email, "Anonymous access or Login as password access", https? port number?
This info is very important to have before you configure emails on sharepoint, to preview problems....

You can have a partner function like 'Created by' and use an exit to populate the User ID to this partner function(dont have the system right now but i think this can be done with standard partner detr. procedure also)
Then, create an Output type for that Partner function with transmission medium as 'External Send'. You can use the standard SAP program to trigger the email. To send the actual email after the output is trigerred, the link connection has to be set up be BASIS but if you want to check, then goto SOST and see if the email got trigerred or not.

To send an email to the person who initiated the work item instance in the process when the instance reaches a human task:
1. Ensure that the id of person who initiated the instance is stored in the process predefined variable called "creator".
2. In the Interactive activity's input data mapping, map this "creator" process predefined variable to the corresponding "creator" attribute in the human task's execData.
3. Open the human task -> click the "Notification" tab -> click the "+" icon in the upper right -> on the new row added to the bottom of the list, leave the task status dropdown set to "Assign" and change the recipent (the middle column) to "Initiator".
