[Solved]Wakoopa tracker not tracking

I've installed Wakoopa from AUR, but I have a problem with it. It doesn't seem to send my statistics to the Wakoopa website, the usage of my linux software doesn't show up on my profile. My Windows usage does.
I've started it from a terminal to debug the problem, but I can clearly see it connect to Wakoopa (I can even see it using my username and password). If I use the debug option, I can see fetches the software I am currently using properly. Yet the data doesn't seem to get to the Wakoopa website.
Here's some output from the tracker:
(wakoopa:5015): Gtk-WARNING **: GtkSpinButton: setting an adjustment with non-zero page size is deprecated

</response>
When starting Wakoopa I get this error by the way;

And when using some software:

Anyone else with these kind of problems (or better yet; a solution to my problem)?

Seems to be sending data to my profile since the release of version 1.1 (yesterday).

  • [SOLVED] Dependency tracking

    Hello,
I had some updates available yesterdays, among others:
    - libgadu,
    - mplayer,
    - gnutls.
I didn't want to restart machine right away, so I upgraded only libgadu and mplayer. Then, when trying to start mplayer or kadu (which uses libgadu) a got an error about missing libgnutls.so.30. After full system update everything works fine, but I wonder why did dependency tracker allow such upgrade? Shouldn't gnutls be forced to upgrade along with libgadu and mplayer?
    cheers,
    awes

  • [SOLVED] Time tracking app outside Gnome

I used to use hamster-applet in Gnome, which I loved for time tracking. Over the weekend I've converted myself to DWM, so using hamster is out. I've looked around and haven't found any real options other than a webapp called SlimTimer which I used back when I was on another OS which I won't mention by name. However, if available, I'd prefer something that can be used offline as well.
What are the tiling WM users doing for time tracking?

There are a few in the AUR. Just search on the http://aur.archlinux.org/ page for "time track" or the like.
If you do use yaourt, try a search like
yaourt -Ss track | grep time
Personally I used gnotime for several years. It still works but development has apparently ceased.

I just tried to register with the bugtracker, but never got that verification email that the app wrote was sent.
I am  sure the address is correct and have also received other email notices today from the forum.
Can that be a bug in the bug tracker?

  • [SOLVED] prey-tracker documentation

I am not very proficient with bash scripting so I cannot investigate myself to fix my issue with prey project. I simply cannot get prey.sh to verify my device nor send me any reports. I am assuming there is some argument to pass to prey.sh to activate my device and also some xml to put somewhere (according to the comment in core/response) to activate modules. I am trying to use prey in standalone mode.
Anyone can help me get some documentation about this? The prey project website provides very very little documentation.
    Thanks!

  • [SOLVED]mpd does not detect the music directory

I recently installed mpd with the gmpc gui, set my "music_directory" in /etc/mpd.conf to the location of all of my music (which contains lots of other folders and subfolders), but there's no listing of the audio files in the database in gmpc.
Here's the /etc/mpd.conf if that helps:

Thanks, I successfully launched mpd as a user and it detected all of my music. However, if I launch mpd with the mpd.conf that I created in my home directory, it launches, but outputs the following:
    [vladislav@vladislav .mpd]$ mpd ~/.mpd/mpd.conf
listen: bind to '0.0.0.0:6600' failed: Address already in use (continuing anyway, because binding to '[::]:6600' succeeded)
    Is this normal?
*sigh* i answer this for the 3rd time in a row... this is no error it just says that binding to your ipv6 interface happened before the binding to ipv4.
If you want to use your ipv4 interface hardcode it in mpd.conf
    bind_to_address "127.0.0.1"
you can also have several binds:
    bind_to_address "127.0.0.1"
    bind_to_address "192.168.1.13"
to make it listen on localhost and the external IP of your network card.
If your music is on the same machine as your mpd i recommend to use a unix socket in addition.
    bind_to_address "/path/to/some/file/that/does/not/exist/yet"
and make your client connect to that file instead of the IP. Speeds things up a log e.g. in ncmpcpp
and btw: you can save your mpd.conf file as ~/.mpdconf and mpd will automatically use it.

  • [SOLVED] Windows Update not working after Cloning Hard Disk!

Lenovo T61p with Intel Turbo Memory - Cloning HDD with Advanced Format (4K Cluster) HDD
I have been beating my head against my desk for the past day trying to figure out the problems I am having.
I have a Genuine Windows 7 Ultimate Installation
I cloned my old 100GB HDD onto a 500GB HDD to increase space however after doing so I am unable to update windows, turn windows defender on, or install any Microsoft Products. I am even unable to install WindowsActivationUpdate or Microsoft Security Essentials.
I have tried many FixIt tools to no avail.
    I have run SFC /SCANNOW
    I have run CHKDSK
    I am stumped.
    ****RESOLUTION****
After doing some digging I found the solution. Since I had cloned the drive, the old AHCI driver wasn't updating Windows with the correct sector size. Updating the AHCI driver with the latest from Intel solved all the issues I was having.
    **Note**
Install the Lenovo Driver First -- Reboot
    Lenovo Driver: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS001676
Install the AHCI Driver Manually (iaAHCI.inf - Do this in Device Manager) -- Reboot

But it still says Windows 7 Activation was Successful.

I only discovered this problem a month after replacing my system HDD with an ssd Drive for a Vista sp2 Dell studio 1735 . But in my case all drivers  were  up to date. However this post triggered the right path to a solution. Though it is more
a workaround ... . Perhaps this will help others, an even more perhaps bring a microsoft engineer to make a small adaption to the vista windows update tool ....
So the problem seems that Windows Update checks for its datastore if the file is alined with the HDD underneath. But it seems that this check fails for an ssd with a 4K sector size.
Lucky I had another HDD in my laptop, which is required for this work around to work :-(. So the following shows the problem (and I think Windows Update does an alike test).
cd \windows\SDold\DataStore (so use cd \windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore if you didn't try the "ren" action yet as mentioned in many posts)
esentutl /g DataStore.edb  -> (result) Operation terminated with error -583 (JET_errSectorSizeNotSupported, The physical sector size reported by the disk subsystem, is unsupported by ESE for a specific file type.) after 0.15 seconds.
    cd D:\        (to a 512 byte sectored HDD )
esentutl /g C:\Windows\SDold\DataStore\DataStore.edb     -> (succeeds! normal verification output)
So I tried (the junction tool can be downloaded from sysinternals):
    net stop cryptsvc
    net stop wuauserv
    robocopy /mir C:\Windows\SDold\DataStore D:\DataStore
robocopy /mir C:\Windows\system32\catroot2 D:\catroot2   (I now think this is not needed, but I started with an Technet post (and many others ...) that put me on the esentutl track... , which is also why the "net stop cryptsvc" is present.)
    C:
    cd ..\SoftwareDistribution
    rmdir /s /q DataStore
    junction DataStore D:\DataStore
cd ..\system32   ( again not sure if needed, also counts for the next 2 commands).
    rmdir /s /q catroot2
    junction catroot2 D:\catroot2
    net start cryptsvc
    net start wuauserv
And windows update worked again ! Check the C:\windows\WindowsUpdate.log
Of course this is just a workaround, but perhaps this puts another searcher on the right track. And perhaps it makes a Microsoft engineer update the responsible code ... as to be aligned on disk does not seem crucial for the databases used for this "application"
Sorry had to remove links for sysinternals and cc734083(v=ws.10).aspx (esentutl, which is a vista specific command) both Microsoft links, as Microsoft has not yet verified my account ...

  • [NOT SOLVED] Gnome will not start

I'm editing this original message by way of summing up so that anyone coming here with a similar problem will know what to expect if they read further:
I believe the reason Gnome would not start on the machine in question was that it made too many demands on the available hardware (see desm0te's comments below).
For this reason I decided to switch to LXDE as Desktop Environment which works well on the restricted hardware. I did not investigate the Gnome related problem any further.
    The original message follows:
After a successful installation of the basic command-line Arch according to the Beginner's Guide, I went on to install Gnome according to instructions in the Wiki.
I Did not want Gnome to start automatically but only when I type in the command startx.
This it does, but all I get is the nice blue "curtain" background - no black bar at top of screen with Actions, date , name etc...
    and no cursor.
One funny thing was - this afternoon while I was concentrating on another machine - the black bar suddenly appeared (apparently for no reason) showing the date and my name but with the X cursor
from the X11 environment. However as soon as I moved this cursor to the bar and clicked, both dursor and bar disappeared never to return .
I decided to redirect the stderr of startx to a file in the hope that it would give a clue as to what was wrong.

    desm0tes:
To take your points one by one:
    1. I am now quite happy with LXDE too. The problems I mentioned last night seem to have gone (???!!!) and I can just start LXDE from my user account. Maybe later, I'll realize what I was doing wrong or rather what I did to make it work... . Now I just type:
    startx
    having put:
    exec ck-launch-session startlxde
    in .xinitrc.
    2. Thanks for the tip about yaourt. I shall try that sooner or later.
    3. Well as I said - I don't understand what I was doing wrong -  which makes me feel a bit stupid and is rather annoying but looking on the bright side it's fine to be able to start-up, have a legible screen and logout successfully - which I couln't do before. I now have to figure out how to expand the contents of LXDE a bit but that's the fun of it!
LXDE starts up nicely with minimal possibilties but I can change look & feel and customize the panel settings.
    "Menu" contains:
        Accessories:
            File Manager
            Image Viewer
            LXTerminal
            Leafpad
            Xarchiver
        Internet:
            Avahi SSH Server Browser
            Avahi VNC Server Browser
        Office:
            ePDFViewer
        System Tools:
            Avahi Zerconf Browser
            Task Manager
        Preferences:
            Customize Look and Feel
            Monitor Settings
            OPenbox Configuration Maanger
            Preferred Applications
        Run
        Logout
All of these start up OK and work, on cursory examination, except the Avahi Browsers which I don't understand and which appear to do nothing as no window appears on screen.
    4. I'm not quite sure I can yet see the use of a login manager such as SLiM, since I seem to get on quite nicely without it but since I've heard it mentioned a lot I'm sure I'm just missing the point.

  • [SOLVED] ID3 tags not registering on MP3 Player

I just got a new MP3 player, and some of the ID3 tags that I've set on my music don't register. I have some other songs that were set on a Windows computer; these show up perfectly find. Every tag editor I've ever used has this problem.
What is a way to convert the ID3 tags into a format that my mp3 player (a coby MP826-8G) will be able to understand?
EDIT: Duh, I was using id3v2 instead of id3v1. Apparently most hardware music players don't read id3v2 yet.
Last edited by ProfessorProcrastinator (2014-05-17 23:54:20)

indeed, the tracks do have both v1.x and v2.x tags. Obviously, iTunes only accepts v1.1 tags. v2.x tags or mp3, who have both tags attached, will not be displayed in iTunes.
I have deleted the v2.x from the problem mp3-files using the "mp3tag" - tool. After re-importing the files into iTunes,
    everything was fine.
    Thanks,
    Frankya

  • [SOLVED] Journalctl is not formatting correctly and is not in color.

My user is a member of adm, but when I run journalctl it just prints out the "ESC[1;39m" instead of formating it in bold or red for errors.
    example line:
    Nov 04 12:16:24 red5 kernel: ESC[1;39mLinux version 3.6.5-1-ARCH (tobias@T-POWA-LX) (gcc version 4.7.2 (GCC) ) #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Oct 31 20:57:39 CET 2012ESC[0m
If I run it as sudo journalctl it formats everything as expected. I'm using xterm and less.

I figured out at least a workaround, I'm not sure if this is the best way to do things, but so far it's the only thing that's worked.
Here's my pager and less environment variables from .bashrc:
    export LESS='-j4aR'
    export PAGER="less"
The option that fixed it is -R, here's what it says on the less man page:
    -R or --RAW-CONTROL-CHARS
Like -r, but only ANSI "color" escape sequences are output in "raw" form. Unlike -r, the screen appearance is maintained correctly in most cases. ANSI "color" escape sequences are sequences
    of the form:
    ESC [ ... m
where the "..." is zero or more color specification characters For the purpose of keeping track of screen appearance, ANSI color escape sequences are assumed to not move the cursor. You can
make less think that characters other than "m" can end ANSI color escape sequences by setting the environment variable LESSANSIENDCHARS to the list of characters which can end a color escape
sequence. And you can make less think that characters other than the standard ones may appear between the ESC and the m by setting the environment variable LESSANSIMIDCHARS to the list of
    characters which can appear.
I'm still not sure why I need to do this on my desktop and not on any other machines.

  • [SOLVED]find command not working correctly new version of findutils...

After upgrading my findutils from 4.2.33-1 to 4.4.0-1, it is not working the way it used to. I downgraded to the old one and it is working fine again. However, I am wondering why the newer version can't do what I want it to...
Typically I run the following script to apply mp3gain to my music collection (albums and individual songs):
    #!/bin/bash
    echo Albums...
    find . -mindepth 3 -iname '*.mp3' -execdir mp3gain -k -a {} +
    echo Single tracks...
    find . -maxdepth 2 -iname '*.mp3' -exec mp3gain -k -r {} +
On the old version, for the albums, the "find" function works as expected by examining the entire album before applying gain. With the new findutils version, the albums are being analysed song-by-song. I suppose since the new version of findutils, there is just a different method to do what I wanted before with -execdir. Does anyone know how to do it on the new version?

Cool. Thanks for the suggestion. I ended up going with...
    #!/bin/bash
    echo Albums...
    for album in */*
    do
    cd "$album" > /dev/null 2>&1
    if [ $? = 0 ]
    then
    mp3gain -k -a *.mp3
    cd ..
    cd ..
    fi
    done
    echo Single tracks...
    find . -maxdepth 2 -iname '*.mp3' -exec mp3gain -k -r {} +
    exit 0

  • [SOLVED] X Server not accepting remote connections after update

Hi everyone! After recent upgrade Xorg on my laptop not allows other machines to use him as a window server, just an example:
    on laptop:
vitaly@trifon:~/VM$ ps aux | grep Xorg
    root       499  2.7  1.3 393628 105276 tty7    Ssl+ фев17 139:48 /usr/lib/xorg-server/Xorg -br -novtswitch -quiet :0 vt7 -auth /var/run/xauth/A:0-rfwYma

    INET:192.168.13.13
192.168.2.2 is my Virtual machine, which works perfectly before upgrade
if I try to start some graphics program, I see that:
    [sandbox@sandbox ~]$ DISPLAY=192.168.2.1:0.0 xterm
xterm: Xt error: Can't open display: 192.168.2.1:0.0
Please tell me how can I let my server work?

    No good results
first i scanned 6000 port, it was closed. i scanned random ports, all was "closed" too

  • [SOLVED] /dev/parport not there any more

See my final post for "solution"
    Original question:
I'm a fairly new newbie to kernel issues.
/dev/parport is no longer showing up.  It's been several months since I've used it. (I use it for bit banging a microcontroller - which worked great several months ago)
Can someone give me suggestions on how to start back tracking what has changed?   I'm sorry for the open ended question.  But, it just kinda worked before and I didn't need to know how /dev/parport got created.  I just used it bit-banging away with avrdude and all worked fine.
    Now, no /dev/parport on bootup.
lsmod shows no parport or parport_pc or ppdev
If I modprobe ppdev, then parport and ppdev show up in lsmod report, but there is still no /dev/parport
Hopefully, this is a no-brainer and I need to just create some /dev entry or something like that and the normal boot up process will connect everything up and start the right modules.
What's frustrating is that is was there several months ago - working fine.  Of course I've done pacman -Syu since then - without much attention to details.
Thanks for you patient consideration of my hopefully silly question

    Lone_Wolf,
dmesg | grep parport reports nothing.  There is no reference to parport or ppdev in the dmesg output.
    lspci -vvv reports the following:
04:05.0 Communication controller: MosChip Semiconductor Technology Ltd. PCI 9835 Multi-I/O Controller (rev 01)
Subsystem: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic 1P2S
Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster- SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR+ FastB2B- DisINTx-
        Status: Cap- 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- INTx-
Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 17
        Region 0: I/O ports at ccc8 [size=8]
        Region 1: I/O ports at ccd0 [size=8]
        Region 2: I/O ports at ccd8 [size=8]
        Region 3: I/O ports at cce0 [size=8]
        Region 4: I/O ports at cce8 [size=8]
        Region 5: I/O ports at ccf0 [size=16]
        Kernel driver in use: serial
        Kernel modules: parport_serial
I'm not sure what all of that means.  But there is no reference to the parallel port.  Too bad, I don't have that type of printout from when it worked six months ago.
The card is a Rosewill RC303  - 2 serial ports and 1 parallel port.  Is "Region 5" above the parallel port?
Like I said earlier WindowsXP thinks it's ok.  So, either Windows didn't check well or Arch/udev is missing some aspect of the PCI card that it used to find on bootup.
any ideas on how to dig more?

  • [solved] fdisk alignment not sticking on /dev/sda1

    Hey everyone.
There are several statements that SSDs should be properly aligned.
So i went ahead and aligned my Intel X25-M following this guide on the OCZ forums.
After partitioning the SSD with fdisk using proper alignment, i confirmed via 'fdisk -l' and 'fdisk -lu' that the alignment is correct.
My next step was installing Windows Vista X86_X64, where AS Benchmark again confirmed a proper alignment (128 K as suggested by Theodore Ts'o or 512 K, as suggested in the guide linked above, i tried both).
However, when i checked with fdisk again to confirm the alignment once more, the alignment for /dev/sda1 seems to have shifted. I also get the message, that partition 2 doesn't end on a cylinder boundary.
Right now, it should be 32 heads and 32 sectors per track to result in a 512 K alignment. But fdisk shows 255 heads and 63 sectors/track for /dev/sda1, which is, from what i understand, the standard used by linux. The other partitions seem to be just fine.
I've read that there might be an issue with partition 1 shifting but i also heard it could by avoided by starting partition 1 on cylinder 2 instead of cylinder 1. Unfortunately, that doesn't change anything for me.
Can anyone tell me what i did wrong?
    Regards,
    demian

You can avoid it by using /dev/sda1 for /boot or swap. You should still start /dev/sda1 in cylinder 2 though.
Also, remember to adjust the offset of all the logical partitions in expert mode. Otherwise they'd start sector 32 as you can see in the bottom code tags in my first post.
For example, here's my current installation:
