[solved] xboxdrv - device detected as Mouse

Hello,
I'm having the problem that my laptop detects the device created by xboxdrv as a (somehow buggy) mouse.
I've tried all woraround for that mentioned at http://pingus.seul.org/~grumbel/xboxdrv/xboxdrv.html (except disabling the xorg auto detection)
Is there any way I can force xorg (or whatever service is making troubles) to detect the device as a Joystick?
the temporary hal workaround gave no errors, but it was no solution.
about the permanent hal workaround I don't know whether it had errors or not, but it didn't work.
Here the output I had when trying the xinput workaround (don't know what to do here):

I don't think this is an xboxdrv-specific issue. There have been a number of reports of *any* joystick being detected as a mouse in Linux as of late.
I was experiencing these issues:
- X crashed whenever gamepad was unplugged
- Gamepad recognized as 'mouse'(dpad moved cursor; some of the buttons were interpreted as mouse clicks)
Editing /etc/x11/xorg.conf.d/50-joystick.conf to use the 'evdev' driver(instead of 'joystick') fixed the former, but I was still getting pointer issues.
In the end, what fixed it was uninstalling xf86-input-joystick(and not even bothering with the .conf file).
(In my case, I'm running 2.6.38 and was using a Microsoft Sidewinder USB gamepad)

I think Flgrx simply does not support cards that are that old anymore. Use an older version or use xf86-video-ati which probably will be the better choice for you card anyways.

  • [SOLVED] Dell XPS 15 l502x + GT 540M + Bumblebee: No devices detected

    Hello everyone,
I have Dell XPS 15 l502x laptop with GT 540M graphics card with optimus support. I want to enable optimus with bumblebee, but no matter what I do I just can't make it work. I'm already start thinking that this laptop is not supported....
I've installed the following packages from AUR to support optimus on my laptop:
    bumblebee
    nvidia-bumblebee
    nvidia-utils-bumblebee
Also, I am using my own custom configured kernel, uname -a shows:
    Linux milktea 3.2.13-1-abs #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Mar 28 14:16:29 CST 2012 i686 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2760QM CPU @ 2.40GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
The only changes from ArchLinux default kernel is CPU architecture (I changed to Core 2 Duo and later instead of default i686) and support for PAE.
When I run optirun glxgears I get this output:
[ERROR]Cannot access secondary GPU - error: [XORG] (EE) Failed to load module "mouse" (module does not exist, 0)
[ERROR]Aborting because fallback start is disabled.
    And Xorg.8.log is:
    [ 4430.976]
This is a pre-release version of the X server from The X.Org Foundation.
It is not supported in any way.

  • DV7 - Error 03F0 - No Boot Device Detected - Passes both Memory and HDD Test

    Hi there,
My DV7 will not boot up at all.  When powered on, I see the HP loading screen briefly, then into "dos type" font saying "No Boot Device Detected - Error 03F0"
I have run both the memory test and hard drive test from the diagnostic menu and both come back ok.
    A little more history on the Device/Problem;
2 months ago it was shutting itself off due to overheating - After a good cleaning, the temps cooled down enough that it was no longer shutting off.
I am currently in India, plugging directly into outlets (230v power) using an adapter.  10 days ago there was a small spark at the outlet leaving a very small spot on one of the prongs of the adapter.  There was no power flicker, and it wasn't a surge, just almost like a bad connection sparking.  This "spark" seemed to have killed my charger immediately.  I used the battery until nearly dead, purchased a new charger, but when I returned and tried the new charger, it would not charge, nor power on.  When plugged in, at this point, the power/charging light on the side was lit, but not on the front.  I used a pin to open the CD drive, and the front light lit up, but it still would not power on.
I took it to a repair shop here in India, and they managed to get it so it would power on (not sure how), but that has only brought me to where I'm at right now with the Error.  They said "It worked, and then we tested again and it didn't work and now it no work".
My current BIOS edition is F.46.
Essentially I'm wondering if I'm screwed - and if I'm not, then what can I do to trouble shoot/fix it?
P.S.  Finding parts in India that are specific to my computer will be near impossible with the technology differences.  Also, dealing with local techs is extremely difficult so I'll need to know
P.S.S.  I just tried to power it on again to double check the accuracy of my post and it will not power on, nor can I get the CD drive open again....

Is the unit still in warranty?
Based on the description of the behavior, it does sound a hardware issue beyond the hard drive.
Was the AC adapter that was purchased an HP adapter? I know you said it is difficult to get the right parts in your area, but I want to confirm if it is an HP adapter or aftermarket.

  • Urgent problem with Recovery Manager's File backup operation: No storage device detected

I have a Pavilion g7-1070us laptop that failed to start and simply displays a blue-screen with a blinking cursor (no error message).
I could NOT get into safe-mode by hitting F8, but was able to activate the “HP recovery manager” by hitting F11.
I was trying to back-up my files before triggering the system restore. It asked me what types of files to back-up, then scanned the computer for these files and was finalizing the files for back-up; then suddenly an error message showed up saying something like "No storage device detected. Make sure the removable disc drive is connected to computer". But I have both a blank DVD sitting in the optical drive and a USB drive attached!!!!!!
I was expecting the system to ask me where to save these backed-up files but no such question was asked and this nonsense error message appeared out of nowhere. Apparently the recovery manager couldn't see my DVD or USB drive?
Can someone throw me a life-saver here? If I cannot recover my files, I cannot proceed with the system restore and I am forever stuck here!!!!!!
    Please help!!!! Much appreciated!!
    This question was solved.

The blinking cursor means the system is attempting to load Windows, but is unable to read the boot files. There are a number of causes including hardware issues. Run the tests as before to ensure the hardware is functional. I would have to run through the software repair steps only to find it is a hardware issue. Hard drives is perhaps the most common component to have issues regardless of the manufacturer.
I suspect the hard drive will pass the test and will go ahead and link to DavidPK's posts in this thread as they have the best chance to resolve the issue without losing and restoring everything. I do recommend this step at this point since two recoveries did not resolve the issue. DavidPK's solution comes in two parts, so be sure to follow both starting with the first post and moving to the second post should the first one not do the trick.
Let me know how this goes.

  • Unsupported wireless network device detected

    Hi guys,
I had to change the motherboard of my DV9420US; I bought a new motherboard from Megabyte Trading, the part number was the same (444002-001) and they told me it was an HP piece. However, after the technician replaced it, the following error appears when booting and forces me to shut down:
"104-unsupported wireless network device detected. System halted. remove device and restart".
Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?
It starts to be disappointing: I have already spent over 400 bucks to repair the original motherboard first and buy a new one after, with the result that my laptop does not work yet.
    Thanks.

Remove the wireless card and boot into the notebook. Once into windows you will have to hardwire the notebook into an internet connection and go to HP.com. Place your PN number in the search and go to the software and driver downloads find the BIOS header and download the most update BIOS and flash the BIOS for the notebook. Once this has completed replace the WLAN and boot it back up, should fix the issue.

  • 104 Unsupported Wireless Network Device Detected

Opening up the computer this morning i have a message that says:   104-Unsupported wireless network device detected.  System halted.  Remove device and restart.
There are no additional devices added or changed before putting laptop in hibernation for the night last night.  Odd.  Any suggestions?

    Hi
In case you are comfortable reseat the Wireless card from the back panel also try to visit HP website and update the Bios for your unit and see if this fixes your issue.

  • New Device Detected Notification

all day long i get this New Device Detected Notification box that pops up in the lower right of my screen. It offers; check the device or remind me later. All i want to do is turn the darn thing off so i never see it again. Anyone know how to do this? i can find a way.

There is a menu option at the top for the status of the network. If you go into this there will be a list of alerts that you can clear, which should solve the problem

  • Device detected driver not loading correctly per windows

Device detected but driver not loading correctly. Windows says to reload driver. I have reloaded driver and the Nidaq software package (ver 6.9.3) repeatedly to no avail.
Upgrading from old machine that had a 1997 version of driver that work fine under this OS (win98SE).
    What could be the problem?

It's possible the copy of the NI-DAQ driver you have is corrupt, you may want to download it again.  It's available from the Drivers and Updates page.  Also, if you did not already do so, remove the DAQ card before uninstalling the driver and then reinstall it before reinserting the DAQ device.
What DAQ device are you using?  Depending on what DAQ device you have, you may want to upgrade the driver, the most recent version of the NI-DAQ driver for Windows 98 is 7.1.  You can see what driver is best for your device from the DAQ Acquisition Installer/Configuration Troubleshooter and then download the driver from the Drivers and Updates page.
Let me know if this doesn't solve your problem!

  • Solution Centre in Win 8.1 keeps runs device detection on every use

New Win 8.1 notebook. Connected the OfficeJet Pro 8500A A910g by USB. Windows detected and loaded printer driver, also loaded network driver as printer connected via wireless.  Disconnected USB cable. Downloaded and installed HP full software package. It went through device detection, wirless, could not find printer, gave it the IP address, it then found it OK. Went through all steps including opening an HP web page to sign up for something. It created desktop shortcut and enabled scan over network. Can scan from device to PC, works just fine. Next time I wanted to scan from PC, double click on desktop shortcut, UAC pops up, say OK can make changes. Goes through device detection agian. Eveything works. Closed Solution Centre. Re-opened it and same thing. Every time I want to use the Solution Centre I have go through teh detection process.  I tried running the .exe directly from Windows Explorer so there are no switches in the command line, no change. There must be a fix.

    Hi,
Please try following the steps below and let me know if that helps:
From the Control Panel go to View devices and Printers.
Right click the HP Officejet Pro 8500A and select Remove Device, next unplug the USB,
from the start menu's search bar type %temp%. open the temp folder and then open the newest installation folder which starts with 7z, then open the Utils folder.
For a 32 bit OS open the X86 folder, open the X64 folder for a 64-bit OS.. follow those steps if you aren't sure about your OS type:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03666764&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en
Run the RemovePreinstalledDrivers file and allow it to reach 100%
Go 2 folders up back to the 7z folder and locate the installation MSI file:
search for *x86.msi or *x64.msi, depanding on your OS type.
Right click the larger MSI file out of the 2 resutls, then click on Repair. if you get a prompt that it is only valid for installed software select Instal instead of repair.
Reboot your PC if prompted to do so.
Open the Officejet Pro 8500A software and follow the steps to reconfigure the device, then check for any difference.
Please let me know if that helps,
    Shlomi

  • Connecting imac to macbook. "No devices detected"

I'm attempting to share screens betwee my MacBook and my iMac.  I'm using a 18Pin DIGITAL SINGLE LINK DVI-I CABLE to conect them.  Both devices are reading "No devices detected".  Any suggestions for my next step?

The pre-2006 iMacs this forum covers do not support Target Display Mode. This Apple article shows the iMac models that do offer such support:
Target Display Mode: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Apple Support
My 2010 iMac (pre-ThunderBolt with Mini-dispaly) connects nicely to my ThunderBolt=equipped MacBook Pro with a standard Mini DisplayPort cable. ThunderBolt connections have the same form factor and pins as mini-displayport.
If your iMac is newer than 2005---i.e., shows having an Intel processor when you do "About this Mac"---please let us know and we can ask the forums Hosts to move you the the more active forum for newer iMac models

  • HT5706 I just purchased an AppleTV and am trying to connect AirPlay with my mac (2012 model) In 'system preferences displays' an airplay menu is listed but it says 'no device detected'. My AppleTV and macbook are connected to the same network. Any help?

I just purchased an AppleTV and am trying to connect AirPlay with my mac (2012 model) In 'system preferences > displays' an airplay menu is listed but it says 'no device detected'. My AppleTV and macbook are connected to the same network. Any suggestions why it is not working?

Troubleshoot the network as that is likely what is causing the issue.
Also, temporarily disable the firewall on the Mac and disable IPV6 on the computer.

  • AirPlay mirroring issue "No Device Detected" with MBP2011 and ATV2

I upgraded my MBP (early 2011) to Mountain Lion.  I have an ATV2 (v4.2.1 software).  I am trying to AirPlay mirror from the MBP to the ATV but am getting a greyed out "No Device Detected" drop down.  Both MBP and ATV2 are on the same network.

The issue is the "Projectors" as well (VGA projectors even DVI), Now Apple is asking all Universities, Colleges and High Schools to spend millions of Dollars to replace all their Projectors so students and professors they can install Mountain lion in order to run their presentations...Apple Mail still with BBC Bug, and many other bugs are not fixed yet because their nightmare Steve Jobs who was push on them to fix these bugs is not alive, and yes they can do anything bad to destroy Apple.
Mountain Lion is CRAP same thing as LION, Apple is doing worse and worse until Samsung will create a good machines for Microsoft, then Steve Jobs will wake up from his grave asking the bad administration of Apple why they are destroying it with such CRAP!!
