Some Menus Inaccessable

Oh please help. A few days ago I began using Premiere Pro CS4. I have had it for awhile in Master Collection but only now had a need to use it. When I first got into it it gave me the standard 'New Project' / 'Open Project' options but mostly did not allow me to select 'New Project', and when it rarely did only let me select options within the existing tab, and only then by using the tab key. My mouse could not select anything, my laptop's touchpad would not let me select anything, neither would my Wacom tablet.
Particulars:
   using Vista Home Premium
   uninstalled first Premiere Pro, then could not reinstall so uninstalled and reinstalled entire suite
   using Premiere Pro 4.2.1
   after selecting Windows XP Service Pack in Premiere Pro exe. program would not work at all
I have looked through the forums on this and other sites and some people seem to have a similar situation, but not the same. Please help, I can't even drag items into my timeling when I CAN get into it, and have no idea if it is related to this problem or something else entirely. Please advise.

The total lack of response by your mouse, or your touch-pad could indicate a major resource issue with your computer.
This ARTICLE will give you tips on setting up your computer and getting it ready for an editing session.
Also, look carefully at Harm's reply. The Adobe Clean Script CS4 can help greatly with reinstalls, and is important.

I did a battery pull. Then i wiped the entire thing clean and started anew. Removed all apps, etc....
Still have to hold down alt to navigate w/ trackball in some menus.

Yeah, I thought that too and though I do run it in tmux usually, I've been testing it both with and without (TERM is set to screen-256color BTW) and it made no difference. Still, unless I specifically map the ^[ to alt in vim, it doesn't work. With meta8 it works so long as the locale is not UTF-8.
Guess I've got a workaround for now, but it would be nice if meta8 and utf-8 worked nicely together.

Some Menus Grayed-Out Briefly On Photoshop CS5 Startup

For a second or two right after starting the app most of the menus are disabled (grayed-out), as shown below, and even though Chris Cox says they should, they NEVER become activated as long as the menu is kept open. I've left it literally for minutes like this just to see. The duration for this period is just long enough that I can hit the File menu. The workaround is to click File again (or click somewhere else) to hide the File menu, then click File again.
I reported this once before and was informed that it must be one of my plugins causing the problem. In fact disabling some plugins caused it to either seem to disappear or to be a problem for a much shorter time after startup. At first I thought disabling my Genuine Fractals plug-in cleared it up, but I have seen it happen on my 64 bit Windows 7 system since.
I've just installed Photoshop CS5 on 32 bit Windows 7, and have done NOTHING more than just start the application - no plug-ins or even preferences changes.
Clearly, because this is a completely fresh install with no other changes this cannot be a plug-in or Photoshop configuration problem. Perhaps it could be tied to a WINDOWS configuration preference choice I have made, though, since my 32 bit Windows 7 system has many of the same UI tweaks I've made for my 64 bit system.
Photoshop 12.0.0 did this and 12.0.1 does it also. It's the only app I use that does it.
Certainly this is no more than a minor irritation, but minor irritations have a way of getting to a person, and it would be nice if when I went to do File - Open it was ready for me.
Any ideas?

My 64 bit system is a pretty highly tuned and well-performing workstation, so my first guess would be that local resources cannot be holding up the process of initialization much.
I'm seeing it on both 64 bit and 32 bit Windows 7 systems, both with and without OpenGL enabled.
An online check seemed plausible, so I fired up the debugging tool "Fiddler 2", and noted that no web communications are occurring at the time of Photoshop startup.
Could it be other software on these systems? Not plug-ins - I've ruled them out - but antivirus for example (I use Avast Pro)? I don't know. Possible I suppose.
I can certainly live with waiting a bit longer to use Photoshop. My main reason for bringing it up again is that Photoshop seems to be doing something different from what Chris Cox says it should be doing (enabling the menu items even with the menu held open), and I wanted him to know that. Maybe there's something Chris can tweak in the application to get that working better for the next release.

In one application the menu is displayed in Chinese text. switch to another app and menus are in English.
Language default is English.
Also using VLC > Open Files > Browse displays Finder directory with all text in chinese against all icons (home, apps, docs etc).
I have reinstalled osx 2 times now and having real problems cropping up all the time with parameters being reset, parameters ignored.
HELP.

Do Get Info on the icon for that application, hit the languages tab, and make sure only English is checked. If English not available, reinstall the app.

You might want to ask the people who make VLC about that one, if you haven't already.

Some menus are not readable after unicode conversion

Hello Experts,
We have converted an MDMP system to unicode and when we log on to it using SAP GUI 7.10 some elements are displayed incorrectly (garbled):
- Tool Bar
- syb-menues
- selection screen texts
- table content in SE16
On PC all supplemental languages are installed, all I18n settings per SAP notes have been done but still - no success (Alt+F12, etc).
What else can be wrong?
Seems like a frontend issue, because downloading table content from SE16 to a local file and then opening it in IE using ISO encoding - works fine. I also noticed that when saving the file SAP says "
using code page 1160"
Shouldn't it be using code page 4110 - which should be autimatically assigned to SAP Gui when connected to a Unicode SAP system?

We had a likewise problem after our migration (under 4.7) and we could solve it by deleting the language load.

IDVD 4.01: Some menus/folders are BLANK after burn. HELP!

I have a eMac, G4, 1GHz, 512mb and up to this point, iDVD has worked flawless.
I'm working on a large project. Probably the largest I've ever done with iDVD. There are many pictures, several movies, a whole bunch of seperate folders, and everything has audio... The DVD previews perfect. Everything is the way I need/want it. However, the contents of some folders are blank (appearing black) after a burn. I'm stumped? I've tried recreating the folders, movies, images, audio in the affected areas. But, it's almost random! After some burns one folder will come out ok and a different one is affected. I'll fix one and the one I just fixed is blank! Any ideas? (I'm at witts end here)
I've set iDVD to the 'Quality' setting in the perfs so it rebuilds everything on every burn. I've deleted all assets several times before a burn.

Wow. Nobody had a soultion to this one...
I decided a drastic change was needed. I absolutly had to get this DVD created. I assumed that either there was a problem with OS X 10.2.X, iDVD 4.01 or a Firmware problem with my Superdrive. The Firmware update for the Superdrive required OS X 10.3.8 or greater. So, that's what I did... I upgraded to OS X 10.4.2 and iLife 5. After the 2hr install and updates were applied, I attempted a burn. IT WORKED! I fixed the problem with a $70 purchase on eBay. I'm a happy Mac user once again.

When I connect iPod to computer & open iTunes, some menus do not show

I just got this new computer and loaded iTunes and downloaded all necessary updates. On my iPod, I have some TV shows and photos that I can view fine on the iPod. When I connect it to the computer and launch iTunes, the video and photo options do not show.
How do I get these to appear and I also do not want to wipe out any of the songs on my ipod? Please Please help

My plugin reads a ini file to configurate the main menu.
It is possible read this file when starting InDesing and hide some submenus created in Myplugin.fr?
I have no problem to hide/show a menu, but I don´t know what is the first event that runs after loading my plugin.
Is there other possible way to do this?

Have you tried implementing a startup/shutdown service provider (IID_IAPPSTARTUPSHUTDOWN)? If it's too late to hide the menu, then an IMenuFilter/IActionFilter should do the job for you to hide menu. Or you can dynamically build the menu on the fly too (see dynamicmenu sample from SDK)

How do I get out of "full screen" view. When I put my crusor at the top of the screen I get SOME menus showing, but nothe the "firefox" drop-down where I selected full screed (I was just trying to zoom out, actually)

I think the question pretty well summed it up. I selected full screen mode from the "firefox" drop-down box at the top left, but once in full screen mode, the drop-down box is not available. How do I get back to the standard view??

Press the F11 key to toggle into and out of full screen mode.
Or, move the mouse pointer to the top of the screen and right-click the "+" (new tab) button, or in a blank area of the tab bar, or in a blank area after the address box, and exit full screen mode from the context menu.

Create menus to run projects (4-8 in a menu)

What feature in Captivate allows you to organize your
projects (SWFs) into a menu so users can step through the related
recordings one at a time (view, back, next). Please tell me it's
not Menu Builder. ;-)
I am evaluating Captivate 3 and am looking for something like
Camtasia Theater where you drop your projects into a menu builder,
sort them, title them, identify the links, and you are basically
done.
Surely there is has to be something like this for Captivate
projects. I've seen menus like this online using Captivate
projects, but they were definitely not made with Menu Builder. Is
there a 3rd party tool or other Adobe application that does this?
Captivate earns high marks for ease of use and generation of
recorded demos, but I don't want to get stuck creating clinky
website menus when a companion tool should do this in minutes with
polished results.

The way I've been doing it is with hyperlinks in an HTML
page.
Here's what I do:
1) Publish your Captivate movies, and have Captivate produce
a HTML page for each movie.
2) Create a blank HTML page (i.e. in Dreamweaver).
3) Create a menu in the HTML page. Each menu item is a
hyperlink to each Capitvate HTML page.
4) Edit the style of the HTML page menu. I usually do all
edits in CSS, but you can use DHTML, images, etc.
I've created some menus that look really good using CSS,
borders, margins, backgrounds colors, etc. I've sometimes created a
<frameset> - so I do not have to reproduce the menu on each
page, and I load all the Captivate movies in one designated
frameset page.
You could also easily do this within Flash - and just link
Flash buttons to the Captivate HTML pages.

I can't use any drop-down menus

When I click on a drop-down menu, sometimes it will flash for maybe 1/100 of a second. So some menus will not allow me to complete what I am working on.

Disable menus in Photoshop CS6

Hello all,
For my organisation, I need to remove some menus in Photoshop CS6.
However, when I use Edit --> Menus, and uncheck which menus I don't want to see, "Show All Menu Items" appears.
How I can completely remove some menus, without seeing "Show All Menu Items"?

However, answers provided in other topic cannot help me, as this is the first way I explored, and explained in my first post.
The idea is to remove some menus, not to hide them (and I would not to have "Show All Menu Items").
Do you know if there is a solution for that ?
If I knew where menus informations are stocked, it can help me to continue my exploration of the feasibility.

Well, I got a question, which is more a "good way of programming" question than a technical question.
I'm making an application which needs to connect to a server, so first I have a JPanel where there is some JTtextField and JPasswordField for authentication.
Then after authentication, the panel is changed for another JPanel (which shows some menus, etc.).
Well, my question is, do you think it is better to have only one class (extends JFrame), with all the code for both JPanel, or 3 classes, (one main class with the JFrame, one with the ConnectionPanel and one with the last Panel) and launching the main class which will handle the other classes ( so, when the connection panel will "send" to the main class that the client is connected, the main class will switch with the other panel).
What is better for cpu charge, memory, etc ?
If I make 3 classes, do you think i'll meet some problems later, if I need to acceed to an object contained in another class ?
I hope you'll understand my question.

You could do it all in one class but have authentication() stand alone so you can call the authentication later, but use the output differently. Then your class could call the authentication() and figure the output panel based on the success|failure of the authenticity.
