Sort Time Axis in Charts :

Hello,
I have a simple Lines Charts were i need to show value on X axis with Text of the month  But Data need to be
sorted according to the month number.
i created an Alert in the table but when converted on charts alert is not applied.
How could i show text of the month  in charts and Sort it poperly :
Thanks for your answer,
Regards

Hai  VIERM01
There are three type of sorting:
  1.  Ascending order sort
  2. Descending order sort
  3.custom sort
The Ascending order sort and Descending order sort are the system defined sorts ,  The Custom sort is user defined sort.
The custom sort is what ever the end user required to arrange in order to need A report.
if custom chart not possible for your column chart. first make a table and arrange in order to month as per monthnumber (Right click menu -
>sort -
> custom sort ) then Right click -
> turn to -
>column chart...

  • How to set date format dd.MM.yy for chart time axis

Is it possible to set default date format dd.MM.yy instead of MM/dd/yy in Flex charts without using label function ?
In this case we do not know beforehand the length of the time span; it can be minutes, days or weeks.
Setting locales in compiler options or locale settings for application seems not having any effect.

    For example
    - mx:Barchar
    - if time span is 4 minutes; time axis format is HH:mm and shows 10:00, 10:01, 10:02, 10:03 ; *this correct*
    - if time span is 5 days; time labels are automatically in MM/dd/yy format; question is how to change this automation
    to format dd.MM.yy
    - how to do this *without* dateformatter and *without* coding "if time span is is longer than day nyt less than week then use dd.MM.yy format" ?

I don't think what you're asking for is possible, due to the nature of the chart - it accepts Y values and inserts the X value automatically. Offhand, I can think of 3 solutions -
The bad one - constantly change the offset by moving it backwords. You will probably have flickering.
The workaround one - Paste a text box over the first number saying 1 and another over the second number saying 100.
The probably most correct one - Use a XY graph. Just have a 1D array of 100 elements and append it to a second 1D array with 1..100. Wire the 2D array into the graph terminal.
Try to take over the world!

  • How do I graph multiple bit values on one time axis?

I want to graph multiple bit values, all of which will change back and forth from 0 to 1, on the same time axis, but I don't want any visual overlap between the different bit value traces.  Now I could do this by graphing bit one as either 0 or 1, bit 2 as 2 or 3, bit 3 as 4 or 5, etc., but I would really rather have multiple Y axes showing 0 to 1, stacked vertically on the same time (X) axis.
You could visualize this as multiple pens on a strip chart continuously recording different values.  Each pen has its own vertical area in which it writes, but all pens could be writing data from the same numerical range.
Hmmm...  I think my description might be roughly as clear as mud, but if anyone out there can figure out what I am asking and has potential solutions, please let me know.
    Thanks!

Thanks.  I will look at that VI, but I think I have already seen it.  My problem is that I have CAN data coming in for an hour or so, but the time interval between receiving specific CAN arbitration IDs varies, so I want to plot the X axis against specific, varying time values, not a standard dT.  I'm not sure I can do this on a digital graph, but I haven't given up hope yet.
BTW, I am receiving 8-byte CAN packages.  Some of the bytes represent actual values, but I need to break others up into individual bit values to see error and status flag settings.  Once I break the bytes into bits, I convert from analog values to digital values.

  • Time axis for FM GRAPH_GANTT

    Hi friends,
where can I affect the contents of the time axis for the FM GRAPH_GANTT ?
Thank You for Your helps in advance !
    Regards  Peter

    Hi Peter,
    that's not possible.
Instead of using this very old function module please use the chart engine. See also my reply Two Dimentional graph in ABAP.
The chart engine provides a set of different chart types, e.g. a GANTT.
The content of the time axis can be changed within the customizing XML. See also note 1065389 that describes different time formats.

  • Time axis is empty

Hi! I've always been using TM without any problem, but now I can't find a solution to this strange behavior. Some days ago I tried to enter TM to see my backups, but I noticed that no backup was available, or more precisely the axis contained only "Now". No older backup. Browsing the content showed various folders, but nothing could be opened (it kept saying the item was deleted). Anyway, I erased the partition and started again from the beginning my backups. 30GBs were transferred to the disk, folders were in the partition, but still entering TM showed a time axis with only "Now". No backup is available. Tried again the same, but still, after many backups, I can only see "Now" and all the windows beside the one in front are black. No way to have any backup even if data are transferred to the disk. Any idea what could be wrong?
    Thanks!
EDIT: Very sorry, I noticed I posted in the forum for MacOSX 10.5, but I have 10.6.2.

Good - now we know where to look!
We've already covered whether you're starting from something like an empty desktop, or a Finder window pointed to something else that's empty or wasn't backed-up. But be sure you start from somewhere that shows those Documents.
If still no help, try exiting from TM, then immediately going back exactly as before. This happens occasionally, but your problem seems more consistent.
If that doesn't help, try the things in #E4 of the Time Machine - Troubleshooting *User Tip,* also at the top of this forum.
It seems the first backup, which is 40GBs in the disk, is reported to be 0bytes in TimeTracker.
Yes, Time Tracker works by comparing the backup you select with the previous one, so the very first one can't be shown.

  • Is there a way to change the time of a saved data to be as the same as the time-axis of the waveform graph?

    Hi,
I've a problem while saving the waveform to a spreadsheet.
The problem that I'm facing is that I'm not able to save/change the time-axis of the waveform graph into the excel spreadsheet.
The attachments below are what I've programmed on.
1st file that would be asked to save is the results of the waveform.
2nd file, supposing to be the time-axis
3rd file, is the multiplication of results of CH 1 and CH 2.
Would be glad if someone can enlighten me with a solution which is suitable for LabView version 8.2 and Tektronix DPO 72004.
    Thanks. ((((:

I've saved it as text file which could be read if I open it with excel spreadsheet.
My aim is to get the time-axis (x-axis) in the file rather than to get the date and time in the file.
The attachment is the waveform results that I've obtained.

Start with chart that looks like a column + line chart with a left & right Y axis. It should be the one on the bottom left. After plotting your two series, go to the chart inspector, series tab, and change the second series from line to column. Go to the Axis tab and choose to show the titles for the Y1 and Y2 axes.

  • Size  marker  and time axis scatter graph

1.Can we increase default size of marker in scatter graph?
2.Also, for the time axis can we format the date to be able to show (mm/dd/yyyy) for all the values on axis rather than just the first one ?

    Hello,
    I still didn't find a solution.
I can show the data in the bar graph or in line graph, but not in scatter graph. In the scatter graph, there could be set for x and y axis just number values.
But is it really not possible to create the graph with time x-axis and number(or string) y-axis?
Has our customer so special requirement? Or is there no answer because it's so easy?
In the previous post, I've forgotten to write that my version is 11.1.2.1.0.

  • Sort times in java?

Hi, I've been playing around with a linear sort idea, but I have no clue how to benchmark it. I looked at minutesort, pennysort, etc, and...well...I have no clue what filestripping or anything else like that is, I just wrote some code :) Right now I'm just sorting intergers passed to it (not from a file), and I'm sorting 1 million in .6 seconds, 10 million in 6 seconds (it's linear). I haven't tweaked anything (whatever the normal forte4j is, I just typed it in), and I'm running all this on a p3 556 with 256 of pc100 ram on windows 2k pro. Is this good? One of the worst times ever? Is there a benchmark that just tests the code without all the fancy filestripping to increase bandwidth or whatever? Thanks for your comments!

There are quite a few famous linear sorts out there. Just yesterday someone pointed me towards a Radix sort, and I found a guy who on a pentium machine allowed the radix sort to work on floats, etc. His idea could very easily be carried over to a java platform to let it be platform independant. I can't vouch for the web site, but the ideas on the page seem to make sense, at least to me (URL at bottom of post). The person who just posted is right actually, "the fastest sorting algorithm based on comparisons takes n*log(n) time." Just make a sort not based upon comparisons (such as the radix sort). As for the known upper bound part, it doesn't have to be known at the begining of the sort, but at least from what I've seen, the larger upper bounds on these types of sorts result in slower performance...which is an interesting idea actually. If you know that your numbers are going to be in the billions, other sorts might be faster (unless you have billions of numbers to sort). But if your upper bound is significantly less than the number of numbers, then you get a boost of speed. The ideas there interests me...
Anyways, please be nice, I was asking an honest question about sort times. I take it from responses though that .6 seconds for a million numbers is a lot of time, I was afraid of that :( Oh well, maybe I can get some good out of it yet. I'll probably go ahead and post my code hopefully in a few days once I got it as fast and good as I can. Thanks to those that responded, and the link is below.
    http://codercorner.com/RadixSortRevisited.htm
There are many web sites out there about the radix sort, apparently it's pretty old. I just looked over some web sites about it is all. I'll try and cut down on that time, but what should I be aiming for? Oh, and as for Array.sort() or whatever...to be honest, I'm just now learning java (been using C++), and I've never heard of it. Anyone know how it sorts everything? I'll try and do some research on my own, but getting answers from other people is often faster :)

  • Chart question with, I'm sure, a simple answer (That I can't seem to figure out). Fixed 'time frame' on time axis.

    Hello all.
I'm using charts to record data coming from vibration sensors on a bearing testing rig.
The problem I have (or rather the users have) is that the chart seems to only show a minute or so 'window' of data and it moves along through the day that way.  Adding a scrollbar on the axis helps, but doesn't give a real 'picture' of a specified time range.
We'd like to have the time range of the chart be about 12 hours.  Is there a simple way in properties that you can set the chart to show 'last X amount of time'?  Or at least something greater than a minute!
Thanks for bearing with me.  There seemed to be several posts sorta similar to this, but none really addressing the exact issue.
    Still confused after 8 years.

    Hi Ralph,
    > I'm really, really confused.
Don't feel alone, this was not obvious to me either.
Here is an example in LV 8.5
You can set the log interval and the number of hours to be displayed.

  • SignalExpress 2010 - Chart time axis format will not change to floating point or anything else

I just downloaded and installed the new and shiny SignalExpress 2010 to replace the old version. And immediately run into major problems:
The x-axis time format refuses to change to floating point or scientific even if I choose them from chart properties. The format is always absolute, e.g. 12:23:54.743. This makes the usage of the chart and the whole application impossible! Is this a known issue and is it going to be fixed soon? And where can I get the old version of the SignalExpress (2009) so I can install it again?

Here is a screenshot of the problem:

  • Waveform chart time axis is not matching the waveform data

So here an interesting conundrum I hope you might be able to help me with...
My VI has waveform data sent to a chart, though the data is not being plotted against the current time.  Rather, it is being plotted starting way back in the reference time (way back in 1903).  I don't understand why this is happening.  When I build the waveform, I use the "Get Date/Time in Seconds" function outside the while loop and feed that into my "Build Waveform" Function as the t0 value.  My dt value is 0.05 (20 Hz) and then I feed in my array of data in the Y input.  Any ideas why the chart is plotting this data over 100 years ago?  Thanks!
    Andrew

    Hiii, Ronin
          Here is your solution.
By default, waveform charts and graphs display the absolute time at time 0 as 7:00:00 PM, 12/31/1903 on a Windows based system. Property nodes can be used to get the correct absolute time to display on the x-axis of the waveform chart.
First, right click the chart on the front panel and select X Scale >> Formatting. Then set the format to Absolute Time.
Create a property node for the waveform chart by right-clicking on the chart on the block diagram and selecting Create >> Property Node. Expand the property node to display two properties. Select the Format property and the Offset property. The Format property is located under X-Scale >> Format and Precision >> Format, and the Offset property can be found under X-Scale >> Offset and Multiplier >> Offset. Right click on the property node and select Change All to Write.
For the Format property, the context help shows that there are multiple inputs to this property. Wire in a value of 7 to set the format to Time and Date. For the Offset property, first wire the output of the Get Data/Time in Seconds VI to the input of the To Double Precision Float VI. Then wire the output of the To Double Precision Float VI to the Offset property.
In addition, if you know the number of data points plotted to the chart per second, you can set the Multiplier property located under X-Scale >> Offset and Multiplier >> Multiplier. If there are x data points generated per second, wire in a value of 1/x to the Multiplier property. A simple example program "Chart with Timestamp" that demonstrates how to do that is attached.
    Thanks,
    Nishant
