SPA504G - Endless Ringing

In certain situations and timings of SIP traffic to an SPA504G running any released firmware from 7.4.8a to 7.5.6a, the phone enters an endless Ringing state if the following sequence of SIP messages is received and responded to.
PBXIP -> PHONE INVITE
PBXIP <- PHONE 100 Trying
PBXIP -> PHONE CANCEL
If the CANCEL gets sent before the 180 Ringing is received, the phone enters this state after reporting a 481 Call Leg/Transaction Does Not Exist.
So this causes problems like so:
PBXIP -> PHONE INVITE
PBXIP <- PHONE 100 Trying
PBXIP -> PHONE CANCEL
PBXIP <- PHONE 481 Call Leg/Transaction Does Not Exist
PBXIP <- PHONE 180 Ringing
... and then the endless ringing starts which you can end by either answering the call or ignoring it, but since the call has already been cancelled no matter what you do the case will not be resolved.
If the CANCEL gets sent AFTER the 180 Ringing we get normal call termination like this (the SIP RFC is nice and vague and as such the 487 and 200 can be the other way around on different phones)
PBXIP -> PHONE INVITE
PBXIP <- PHONE 100 Trying
PBXIP <- PHONE 180 Ringing
PBXIP -> PHONE CANCEL
PBXIP <- PHONE 487 Request Terminated
PBXIP <- PHONE 200 OK
PBXIP -> PHONE ACK
The attached ZIP file contains the test results PCAPs, SIPp scripts for testing the behaviour with, and the logs of the tests.
(I'm currently dealing with 421 of these devices that have been deployed).

Unfortunately, I'm unable to found original thread dedicated to the issue. It has been here more than two years ago. Thread in question has been responded by Cisco's employee (they are no longer responding here). I remember the issue has been declared solved. Well, I may be wrong.
All at all, if you are affected by the issue even with latest firmware it's either not solved or it is other issue. If you have active service contract, you can contact SMB support and beg for help. You can try it even with no support contract, but don't put so much hope on it.
Edit: the thread mentioned above has been found: Problem when sending CANCEL before 180 Ringing is received

  • Fist day with BT. First Fault with the phone. Un...

So, I moved my phone and broadband from Sky and today took BT Infinity 2 and phone from BT.  Notificatoins right from ordering up until today have been excellent - BT really have that down to a tee -it's great to be informed at each step of the ordering process.
Activation date was today and all is working well.
Well, that is except for the phone, which can dial out, and you can call in, but if you do, we get a long constant ring instead of alternate rings.  It just doesn't stop.  Until I pick up the phone.
I plugged the phone directly into the test socket.  Same issue.
I tried the online check.  No problem with the line.
I called and they checked.  No problem with the line.
I then spoke to someone on the helpdesk who was even less help than a chocolate teapot.  He tried to tell me that it was something to do with my sync speed and it will all be sorted by the 10th!
What's sync speed got to do with my phone ringing funny?
Another 10 minutes of bull**** and I eventually hang up.  Some things just never change.  I remember the BT Call Centre being like this years ago.
Now, I still have the issue.  So, some questions:
    - Even though all my order says completed, could it be that I need to wait until tomorrow for this to work properly?
    - I can no longer see when I have a missed call.  Previously, the phone would give me the missed call icon. Worked this morning when I was on Sky.  Now, nothing.  Could that be a setup thing, too?
Not related to the phone, but still frustrating is the fact that I've registered 3 iPhones for BT SmartTalk.  They all have different numbers (obviously!), yet when I register them, they are all registered against the first number that I registered.  Is that right?  Surely not.
Now don't even get me started about having to pay for caller display and basic 1571...
For now, though, can anyone shed any light on the endless ringing issue and the SmartTalk issue?
    Thanks.
    Solved!

In this video you'll find out how easy it is to insert video content into an HTML5-based web page in Adobe Dreamweaver CS6.
    http://adobe.ly/L1gjUW

I can't get this player to work in the native mobile app template. I just get the endless ring of death when I build the site as a native android app. The file size is a small 8mb h.264 and is only one page with just one video. Can somebody help?

  • 10 lines unlocked, no problem, but the last one....

Please private message for help. I processed unlocks and my first set of emails didnt come. I resubmitted, making sure the email was correct. if the old phone was second hand, moved from another account it may not properly registered on your account.

    Raven_Nevermore wrote:
I have had Pacbell/SBC/Cingular/AT&T since 1996. I finally had to move my account, abd I had 2 family plans. I moved to another carrier, and opened a business account. I was able to unlock and port all of the phones and tabllets with relative ease. However, the one that my elderly father-n-law uses, a Pantec circa 2006, could not be unlocked immediately for some reason. So the new carrier completed the port, it terminated the account, and the AT&T SIM is no longer usable. I called the new carrier 5 times today to get the unlock codes, but they said AT&T never sent them. I called AT&T Customer support 3x today, total time on phone 1hr 42 mins with AT&T. All support agents were clueless about why the Unlock didn't work. Even one of agents said that the new carrier didn't request an unlock, so they had me do it online. Still didn't unlock. So I called again, the new agent couldnt understand what happened and talked to her tech specialist who said that the unlock was sent to other carrier agent who requested the unlock... but you said they didnt, anyway, I txt the new carrier agent, she says "no sir" no email from AT&T regarding your IMEI. So the AT&T agent (uid vjXXXX) says, "It must be a technica, issue, would you l ike to speak to tech support?" I say yes ok, I will talk to tech support, off to endless ring and no answer. So there is no way for me to state what my expereince was except through this forum, since my account is not active I no longer have a login. Bottom line, the Care Organization should recognie the senseless frustration we put AT&T customers through, simply by not having a common tools system and empowerment of the 1st call agents. Obviously the Omni-channel support model isn't working either siince no one person can understand what the other is doing or has. It would surprise me if the AOTS ticket has a common call thread in it at all. Just send me the unlock email and I will go away. No wonder your NPS and ENPS scores stink. Except the surveys completed by the employees afraid to loose their jobs,
you also realize that phone being 9 years old there may not be a way to unlock it right?  I am sure its only 2g anyway.  All carriers are sunseting 2g anyway.

  • IPAD 2 is wiped and in endless restore loop with 5.1

I downloaded and installed iOS5.1 about 7 hours ago after being prompted on both my iPad2 and iPhone4S via WIFI. No problem with the iPhone, works great. However, when the iPad rebooted it told me I needed to restore the device, which I attempted to do so over a dozen times on two differnet PC's (office and home) and each time I get an error "The iPad "iPad" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1)." I have checked many forunm and sites for help. I tried everything that Apple and other posts suggested but no luck at all in the endless restore loop.
I am really shocked that Apple would release this IOS 5.1 disaster out with any real help or guidance. The worse part is the erasure of all data on the device, including the device name. The ITunes window can't even identify the capacity or serial number. What a cluster.

In case anyone was wondering how this was resolved, I had to ring Apple Support. Secondly, this problem was compounded by the fact that I only backed up to the Cloud, not my PC. Stupidly, on my iPad after it lost all it's data, I clicked on 'sync to the Cloud', which overwrote my good backup.
I had to set my iPad in iTunes up as a new iPad, and move everything back over. From now on I am only going to sync to the PC.

Phone B Rings: Staff B picks up phone, attempts to transfer to Phone A, Goes straight to voicemail, does not even ring on Phone A.
Basically my boss can pick up calls and transfer them to me. I however cannot Xfer them back to him, when i try it i just hear his voicemail.
Please if anyone can help its driving me nuts, as i cant xfer he has to keep coming to my desk.
    Thanks for your time.

Catch SIP packets of both SIP session.
Installing and Using Wireshark for Capturing Network Traffic
It will help you to analyze the issue. Although it may be caused SPA504G, I suspect it's rather related to exchange's logic. It may be a sort of loop prevention, for example.

  • Spa504g crashes - registration/drop issue

I have had an intermittent issue where users attempt to answer a  call, but the device(spa504g) freezes and the lcd gets stuck  "Answering". The  phone becomes unresponsive to any button presses; even  after considerable  patience. The call is eventually dropped, and if we're lucky the customer calls back. The only solution is to unplug the power  and repower the  device.
On the server side, the phone often remains registered  for sometime even  showing that it is still on a call. I think after  about 15 minutes the  registration drops. So if I attempt to repower the  phone before it  unregisters, it will seem to register fine but will  not actually ring on  any inbound calls. Most of the time I've resorted  to restarting services on the server which effectively brings the system  down, even if only for a minute.
I'm using 3cx phone system. Our server is collocated so all extensions are remote. Aside from this, we have no other issues
We have 5 end points at this location all SPA504g with  7.5.4 firmware. We have low call volume and I'm usually the first guy  to take calls 90% of the time. But I have swapped out phones and confirm  that it has happened on more than one device, even on previous  firmwares.
I can't reproduce the issue. It has happened about 5  times this week, but hadn't happened in over a couple of months prior to  this week.
I have experienced the issue ever since we went live with the system. So basically since everything was new out of the box.
I have created a support ticket with 3cx, providing syslogs for the phones, logs from the phone system, and wireshark pcap on the server. They say there is no problem on the server and that it is probably a phone/networking issue.

@Christie:  In our testing, we just turned off STUN in the phone's web GUI and turned off DHCP option 66 so the phone did not auto reprovision itself. I may have also manually edited the provisioing file for that particular phone we were testing on, I don't remember. But, I believe simply changing it to 'No' in the template should be all you need. I don't know about it changing those other things to be honest.  However, my client is back to having it turned 'On' (the default provisioning template settings) and we're using the test firmware that Cisco provided me a few days ago, and so far, no lock ups!
@Robbie:  The 'PBX Delivers Audio' setting was something different; something I changed to allow extension-to-extension calls to pass audio at the remote site. Christie is talking about the disabling of STUN on the phones. I've not had any complaints from the users regarding blind transfers and they don't use headsets, so I can't comment on those things. Also, for our tenants, the server is in one location (the data center) and ALL of their phones are in another location (their office), so I also cannot comment on multi-location setups as you mentioned in your last sentance.  Good to know for future refecence though!
@Christie:  Those changes you mentioned in your 5:24pm post seem to be spot on with what I did during my testing.  I've now got STUN re-enabled and am using the test firmware Cisco has provided me.  Not sure if I really need STUN, but I figure the least amount of changes from the default 3CX provisioning template, the better.
@Robbie:  Ironic for you, but not for me.  All of the lock-up occurences my users have reported have been with OUTBOUND calls (with both internal-to-internal AND internal-to-external calls).  Actually, I take that back; I had a user report the other day that he was trying to do a Call-Pickup (answering another ringing extension) using the BLF button on his phone and then his phone locked up - technically not an incoming call to HIS extension. Hopefully it's all related and this new firmware will fix that too.
I'll be out of the country with no access to internet/email for two weeks. I hope to have no reports of lock-ups from the cusdtomer while I'm gone.  Assuming this is the case, I will report to Cisco that the test firmware appeared to fix the problem and I assume they will release it to the general public.
Appreciate the input from everyone!  I'm hopeful we are close to a resolution!

  • Newbie Help with Restoring SPA504G config file

I know just enough to be dangerous, but not enough to be completely effective.  Any help is much appreciated.
I have a standalone SPA504G for which I have customized the configuration.  Frequently, several times a day, the phone resets and returns to the default configuration, erasing all my efforts.  As a result, I have two intertwined problems:
1 -- is there a way to prevent the resets?  I am tethered to RingCentral for my VOIP service, if that is relevant.
2 -- if I cannot prevent the resets, how do I restore my configuration?  I have reviewed this helpful post and have downloaded the spacfg.xml file.  I have also installed Solarwinds TFTP Server for use in restoring the config file.  My problem is that I am completely unfamiliar with TFTP and have been unable to locate instructions as to how to upload, download and restore the spacfg.xml file.  Step-by-step "TFTP for Dummies" instructions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks for your help.
    Merk

    item 1,
is your phone provisioned?  if Ring Central is provisioning it, they may be overwriting your changes.
you can check by going into the provisioning tab on the phone web gui.
click admin login --> advanced --> voice  -->provisioning
look for profile rule. if it has anything but SPA$psn.cfg  it is probably provisioned.  (especially if it says something like http://provisioning.ringcentral.com  )
the profile rule will download a new config file from the server every "resynch periodic" time (3600 sec by default), then if it is different from the current config it will implement and reboot.
So to prevent this, remove the profile rule or set resynch periodic to 0.
or have ringcentral put your changes into the provisioning file.
Most providers have a web 'dashboard' to make changes to the phones they manage.
2 - to reload a config using tftp
set up your tftp, put the file in the tftp root, and set the windows firewall to allow incoming connections to the app (solarwinds, tftpd32, etc), or port 69 UDP
then in the gui of the phone use the resync url to load the config to the phone.
    http://ip.of.phone/admin/resync?tftp:////
Note, if your config is in the tftproot, you should not need the /  part.
    hope it helps,

  • Inconsistent SPA504G Issue When Answering Calls

    Hello,
I have a user reporting very odd behavior with their Cisco SPA504G phone. They get a call and if they pick up the handset in two rings or less, the call doesn't seem to "complete" and they hear nothing. It has been reported however that if they wait until the first two rings have passed, they are able to answer the call after the third ring.
I'm at a loss as to what could be causing the issue since I too have an SPA504G phone and have no such issues, as well as other users.  It is isolated to just the one user.  I spoke to our phone administrator and according to their logs:
9/11 @ 2:40  : Queue call, the system did not receive a pickup notification and rolled over to the next agent.
9/11 @ 5:23  : Extension 2625 calls extension 2738 which is forwarding to 2747.  2625 Immediately hangs up upon dialing the number, then proceeds to dial 2739.  My guess here is that 2625 saw they were dialing the wrong number and quickly hung up.
9/11 @ 5:28  :  Queue call, the system did not receive a pickup notification and rolled over to the next agent."
User experiencing the issue is the 2747 ext.
    Software Version - 7.4.8a
    Hardware Version - 1.0.3
Any help is greatly appreciated and I would be happy to gather any additional information as requested.

Well, after another referral to Orange Tech Support, I finally have a new handset.
I started having more 'crashing' events on my phone when using sms, gallery, camera.
Called Cust Service who wanted to do the same stuff all over again...i.e. reset phone but I insisted that they escalate it.
They got back to me within 72 hours and I had a new handset the following week. Upon checking I now have an up-to-date firmware.
As an aside, the new phone actually feels a lot different. The slide is firmer and more stable and the keypad also feels of a better quality. Anyone had similar experiences?
    Cheers,
    Matt

  • FaceTime on my iPad 2 just keeps ringing

I just purchased a new  32g wifi iPad 2 looking to use FaceTime with my moms iPod touch, when I dial her email through FaceTime on my iPad it just rings endlessly, and my mom can see my call but there is no option for my mom to answer. I have tried to FaceTime my iPad from my iphone4 and the iPad doesn't show any sign of receiving a FaceTime call. Help I love my iPad yet this is the main reason for purchasing and it doesn't work!!!!!!  Any help would be so appreciated it!

I downloaded the FaceTime App to my imac. When trying to make a FaceTime call to either my son or daughter's ipad2 it:
    rings on their end,
they see the call coming in to their ipad2,
    they click to answer,
    it says "connecting", but
    it never connects?
I have tried the same process from FaceTime on my iphone4 to their ipad2's and it works just fine so I assume it must have something to do with my imac FaceTime software. I'll try calling my iphone from my imac and let you know if that works!

  • SPA504G Transfer to BLF+SD key

    Hi all,
I set up the line key 2 of a SPA504g to monitor/call an extension this way :(Asterisk PBX is used)
    fnc=blf+sd+cp;sub=5004@$PROXY;nme=Grandstream;vid=1
When I want to transfer the current call to extension 5004 , I simply press that line key
The problem is this operation starts a BLIND transfer, my SPA is no more connected and the ext 5004 is ringing while the caller is on hold.
Is there a way to start a regular attendant transfer when pressing a BLF/SD line key (to wait ext 5004 answer and announce the call)  ???
Does the feature depend from Asterisk or SPA configuration ??
    Thank you very much.

    G'day Srinivas,
Thanks for your prompt info.  I have worked in CIF for 10+ years & familiar witht he deletion tools CCR & the /sapapo/SDorder_del.
Further to last point of unprocessed queues; the ques are full process & nothing in error.
Can you pease advise why the root cause of Delivery PGI (VL03N) is removed from ECC6 and not APO.  Standard behaviour would remove from RRP3 / SDP94.
Client usess batch splits for the deliveries direct off line & these loc / prods are consistantly in the CCR error list "Not In R/3".
Your prompt feedback is appreciated, binus awrded & client go-live is 2 weeks,
    Many thanks,

  • HOW DO I GET THIS PHONE TO PLAY A NORMAL RING NOT A MELODY, SOUND IS TOO SOFT WITH VOLUME UP

I am hoping to get a louder ring to play since the volume is up.  my old feature phone has regular ringers not melodies, don't see any options for normal ringers

Unfortunately, the phone only comes with maybe 2 useful tones, and those two are only good for incoming text and voice mail notification.
You will have to send new ringtones to the phone via a MMS (pics and vid) text only.  You will get charged .25 cents per this text.  I put 4 different ring tones on the phone that I simply downloaded for free from a website.  You then use your pc email to send to the phone using your phone number followed by @vzwpix.com.  ([email protected]).  Then attach the ringtone files and send the email.
There are a few threads on this, look in the highly informative thread fisharefriends made. There are a few others too.
Kin TwoM: Review, FAQ, Q&A, troubleshooting, etc.
I found some ringtones were louder than others after you transfer them on to your phone.  Here are a few that worked good for me.

  • UC540 , SPA504g headset issues

Some frustrations I cannot seem to get answers for:
    1) Change the auto-attendant pickup ring from 3 to 4
    2) Changing the display names on the SPA504g handsets (a lot of articles on this if using SIP not SPCP however)
    3) Getting a Plantronics CS540 to work on a SPA504g handset
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

    Hi
I have seen this in the past as well. I recommend the following:
    1) Disable DNS Server on UC540, then point all LAN PCs to using public DNS such as Google: 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 This can be done manually for static or by changing DHCP Server scope options
    2) Make sure that the firewall is enabled on the UC540 WAN interface
    3) Ensure you are using the latest IOS version for the UC540 platform.
It could be that your router is under attack or is participating in a DNS attack via your client computers.
    Kind regards.

  • Ringer stopped working and touch sensitivity is screwy on new phone

I've been having endless problems since I upgraded to the IPhone 4. I only got the phone on Friday,  a couple of the problems have been resolved, but now there's 2 new ones.
First, the phone no longer rings.  The only thing I did was to change the ringtone, and now it won't ring at all.  I changed it back, and it still does not work.  I've played with settings, ringer volume is at max, etc.  I've missed several phone calls because of this (didn't feel the phone vibrate in my pocket -- seriously -- but when it's on a light table, I hear the table vibrate).
Second problem seems to only happen on some screens -- it doesn't always respond to my touch.  I have no problem working with a calendar app, creating new appointments, or using the pop-up keyboard.  But trying to change settings, turn a switch on or off, editing contacts can often be a study in frustration.
Another problem that I'm not sure has been resolved or not (as I've only had very short phone calls since the problem last struck) is dropped calls.  After some research, it seems that this is a VERY common problem with the IPhone 4, yet the tech I spoke with was clueless.  My previous Verizon phone was almost perfect so far as making phone calls.  This one has been a nightmare.  There was some kind of firmware update that was done during the last call to tech support, so I can't tell you if that fixed the problem or not.  But at this point I'm ready to change phones.  It's a piece of crap.

You need to get iTunes to recognize it. If your iPhone is working, which it is not, then a new screen would help. But you iPhone is broken beyond just a new screen. Now you can see why iCloud or even an iTunes Back Up is so important. iCloud back up is ideal for you, a one Apple device person, it automatically backs up your iPhone so there is a current back up ready to use anytime, especially in emergency like this. When you get your new iPhone, iPad anything use iCloudl it is free and simple.
