SPEAKER RECOGNITION

Hi. IM working on a project "SPEAKER RECOGNITION SYSTEM USING LABVIEW". The method I use is MFCC and VQ(Vector Quantization). If anyone have worked on this project or the above two methods, please help me with the VIs you done or links you come across..
Cheers..!

The typical term used is "voice recognition". If you enter voice recognition MFCC in the search box (above) you will find this page that has lots of good info
Now is the right time to use %^<%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%S%3uZ>T

  • X-FI MUSIC AND SPEAKER RECOGNITION PROB

I am hoping somebody can help as I am going mad with this problem.
I replaced my Audigy 2 ZS yesterday for an X-Fi Music. My setup is as follows:
    MSI K8N NEO NF3 PLATINUM
    AMD 64 3500
    2GB CRUCIAL DDR 400
    X800 PRO
    CREATIVE 5. 5700 decoder + speakers
I used to run the digital din from the Audigy to the Creative decoder and it was not a problem. It picked up the 5. set up and never missed a trick.
I followed the same procedure with the X-Fi after removing the ZS. I cleaned out the drivers etc, loaded up the X-Fi drivers and was presented with the speaker config splash screen.
On the digital speaker selection it only offered me HEADPHONES, or 2. SPEAKERS. I chose 2. as it was the closest to my 5. setup and I thought I could alter it in the setup later on.
To cut along story short, I get 5. fed through the 2 front speakers. I cannot tell the X-Fi that I have a Creative decoder - speakers and I'm stuck!
Please can somebody advise me what I can do as I'm getting desperate.
    Thanks

same thing here with my FPS2000 Digital 4. and X-Fi Platinum!
Can only choose 2. at most
    REALLY BAD
    ~Levi
PS: and besides that we get NO x64 drivers and BAD sound problems/noises (popping) when computer is under stress (encoding e.g.). I never thought to get so many bugs after shelling out a considerable amount of money for a home/non-pro soundcard! I use this one for gaming and entertainment, and i will certainly not start using it for pro audio/music work, keeping that with the awesome Digi00!! (different spectrum i know... but i wanted to use this X-Fi for some simple, light music production... don't think i'll do that!)
    oh well...

  • ITunes 7.0.1.8 experiences - Here's what got fixed for me...

After news of the iTunes 7.0.1.8 update broke out today, I downloaded it and have used it for a little while.
I'd thought I'd share my experiences so far, but please take note that I did not do any CD burning/importing tests, nor do I own an iPod to sync content to or a 5.1 set of speakers to play songs with. I have heard that this update dramatically fixes the slow recognition and sync times for iPods and that there is better speaker recognition for surround sound systems, but I can't personally confirm this.
My current audio settings in QuickTime are at 48kHz, 16-bit, QuickTime Music Synthesizer. Safe Mode is disabled. These have been my withstanding settings since iTunes 6. To my knowledge, all sound drivers and video drivers are up to date. Hardware acceleration is at full, and DirectX is also up to date.
Some problems I noticed in iTunes 7.0.0.10, in no order - and whether they've been fixed or not in iTunes 7.0.1.8:
Problem: Cover Flow view was slow to respond and had album art rendering issues. I didn't get the diagonal lines, but it definitely bogged down my system. Most likely a memory leak.
With 7.0.1.8: Partially fixed. CPU usage doesn't skyrocket as much, but the flow animations still stutter and album art rendering still lags. Once the art is loaded into RAM, however, Cover Flow is as smooth as ever and does not max out at 100% CPU for me.
Problem: Download manager was unresponsive. iTunes would crawl when playing a song and downloading something, as menu commands, pausing/unpausing, etc. was delayed by up to a minute. CPU usage at 100%.
With 7.0.1.8: Mostly fixed. The download manager is now noticably speedier, and is responsive to user inputs with pausing downloads, scrubbing songs, etc. However, CPU usage is still at 95%-100% when a download is running.
    Problem: Gapless playback caused distortion.
With 7.0.1.8: Fixed. Gapless playback now works correctly and seamlessly, without causing distortion in the first or last few seconds of a song or delaying playback.
Problem: Audio playback became distorted and skipped when running any other applications, such as a web browser.
With 7.0.1.8: Partially Fixed - Your results may vary. Audio no longer messes up horribly anymore -- even when the voume is less than 100% -- which is great. However, small skipping is still apparent when browsing in Firefox or even in the iTunes Store. This happens sporatically, however, as I'm browsing now and there is no studdering, though minutes ago browsing caused some skips. CPU usage spikes to 100% momentarily when this occurs. Nonetheless, it is still a MAJOR improvement from before, and now I believe that skipping exists due to my only having 256MB RAM in this PC. Your results may vary.
Problem: Newly downloaded album art did not actually get embedded into the music file, and iTunes didn't find album artwork for tracks that were in the iTunes store.
With 7.0.1.8: Not fixed. Downloaded album art from iTunes 7 is not embedded into the actual file, and needs to be copy-pasted back in the Artwork tab of the "Get Info" window. One non-related fix, though, is that album art can now be manually added in the album viewer on the bottom left of the window for multiple tracks at once. For downloading artwork (I did not set this as 'automatic' in my iTunes preferences but did it manually), I recommend matching the store listing 100% with track numbers, capitalizations, etc. and making sure the ID3 tags of MP3 files are v2.2 or higher.
Problem: At random times, checkboxes did not actually check or uncheck when clicked on; this was especially true in the Podcast library. Only a manual right-click menu selection would check or uncheck an item.
With 7.0.1.8: Fixed. No more checkboxing issues so far.
Problem: Visualizer size setting in Preferences -> Advanced tab (Small, Medium, Large) did not actually take effect.
With 7.0.1.8: Not fixed. The visualizer still plays in the "large" setting, no matter what the setting is; I believe this is a bug. In addition to this, when in Cover Flow view and changing to the visualizer, Cover Flow leaves an intrusive snapshot on top of the visualizer, which isn't fixed until switching out of the visualizer and changing back to the list or album view.
Problem: Video playback stuttered when viewing on-screen controls, and the controls didn't appear when the mouse was over the video and iTunes was in mini player mode or minimized. Clicking on the video at that point stopped playback and closed the video window.
With 7.0.1.8: Not fixed. While video playback is snappier in iTunes 7 in general, this little oversight hasn't been touched yet. I also believe part of it is because of a lack of RAM on my computer, but would've liked to see more smooth playback like what was found in the last revision of iTunes 6, in addition to the added controls.
Problem: Adding ratings from within the library is a little hit-or-miss; I have to click on a certain edge of the star to select it.
With 7.0.1.8: Not fixed. I have to click pretty firmly on the ratings column in my iTunes library, or just do it manually by right-clicking or doing it in the Get Info window.
I think that covers most of what I personally found in the previous version of iTunes 7. I didn't previously have the importing problem or settings fail to save (sans the visualizer), however. (Feel free to add to this thread with your experiences if you'd like.)

    UPDATE/EDIT FROM PREVIOUS POST:
Ok. The new 7.0.18 does repair the volume slider audio issue. HOWEVER, Simply installing the new update (at least for me) did **NOT** fix the problem. After posting my previous post, I tried to remove Quicktime and iTunes completely and try reinstalling.
It turns out that when I uninstalled Quicktime from Add/Remove Programs, it didn't remove all the Quicktime files and it was not reinstalling Quicktime afterwards!!
I only noticed when I downloaded the standalone version of Quicktime and tried running it and it said a "newer version" was on my computer, though it did not show up on my Add/Remove Programs file listing.
So I looked in the usual places and found that I had a Quicktime folder remaining in the Program Files folder and one in the C:\Windows\system32 folder. I also had to manually remove the following files from the C:\Windows\system32 folder:
    Quicktime.qts, QuickTimeMusicalInstruments.qtx, the Quicktime.Resources folder, QuicktimeVR.qtx and the QuickTimeVR.Resources folder.
The main problem is that iTunes didn't let me know there was an issue with the QuickTime installation. It just wouldn't run iTunes. There should have been a notification.
Anyway, after all this, I reinstalled iTunes fresh and checked the volume slider and LO' And Behold! The volume slider issue was repaired.
However, there is a LOT of skipping occurring that never happened before. Not sure what's up with that. CPU usage stays low and then I get a few skips per minute...UNACCEPTABLE!!! That didn't happen before and that issue will still need to be fixed. Until then, back to WinAmp. Thx a LOT Apple...you *#^@ing hosers!

  • Can't use special character "option+5" on german keyboard

After upgrading to Lion I have problems to select special characters on a german keyboard. Typing in TextEdit  "Option+5" does not display "[".
Nothing happens. I always have to use PopChar to insert the "[" character.
I already checked out all of the preference settings for the keyboard, layouts, international formats, ...
Also I deleted the keyboard .plist file in the Lib-folder.
All other special characters work fine without any problems, only the "option + 3, +4, +5, +6" does not show any character in the keyboard layout.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Alex

Thanks for your answer, but I already checked this. I completely disabled all speak recognition.
    Not only one key doesn't work, but four in a line "option + 3, +4, +5, +6".

  • Iphone4 and Jabra will not pair

I bought new Iphone 4 and picked a Jabra Wave headset. It recognizes the Jabra, comes up with Not paired. I touch that message
on the bluetooth screen and i then says connected.  I push answer button to make a call for 1 second on head set and it comes back and voice says "Connected" but speak recognition does not come on. I hold the button until I hear a beep and then the voice recognition comes on and works like crap if at all. Next time I hold the button until I hear the beep it then goes into some mode with flashing blue light. The chance of getting voice recognition is about 50/50
I have followed all the directions without success. I tried the tech repair at the verizon store and they were clueless. They gave me a new one and it is the same problem
The only thing I can figure is the Jabra Wave is not compatible with iphone 4 even though they say it is.
    Rob

The issue may be with the Bluetooth headset. If you have another Bluetooth headset try pairing it with your iPhone and see if that works. Below I have provided the pairing instructions for the iPhone and Jabra Wave.
Step 1 - Enable Bluetooth functionality on the iPhone 4
From the Home screen, select Settings.
    Select General
    Select Bluetooth
    Set Bluetooth to On
Step 3 - Pair the iPhone 4 with a Bluetooth Accessory
With Bluetooth power on, from the Home screen, select Settings
    Select General
    Select Bluetooth
Choose the device on iPhone, and enter its passkey or PIN number, normally 0000 or 1234

  • Dragon Naturally Speaking 9.0 voice recognition

I purchased a Satellite 205-S5814 with Windows Vista Select eleven months ago. I later installed Dragon Naturally Speaking 9.0. which was upgraded to the newer virson 9.5. It worked very well for a few months until one day I tried to log-on and the following message was displayed: "Dragon Naturally Speaking cannot find multimedia device. Check to see if your computer has a sound card, or if the multimedia wave-in component is missing from the soundcard."
How can I get my voice recognition program running again? I have tryed everything I can think of, including Toshiba and Windows Vista tech support. I have yet to speak with anyone who has any knowlege of what I am talking about.
I am a writer and the voice recognition program is very important to me.
    Thank you,

I'm writing a book freehand and trying to move it to a wordprocessing program. I've tried dragon on windows and macbook but they just dont seem to work for me. When I use voice recognition on my iPhone it works great. I would like to fiind the same technology for my macbook for transcription.

  • IPhone 5 - Voice Recognition Does Not Work

The voice recognition does not work in any application.  When you speak you see the waveform change following your speech.  In Siri, it even recognizes when you stop speaking. In apps like Messages, the progress circle just goes around and around without stopping until you kill the app.  In Siri, the progress circle goes around and around but after a while, Siri comes on and says she can not fulfill the request and to try later.  I think I searched every possible setting.

It is covered under warranty.  Make a Genius bar appointment.

  • Speech Recognition stops working after a minute of nonuse

I'm a grad student trying to keep from exacerbating my carpal tunnel and just figured out how to use the voice commands on my macbook. So far, they work great, they hear my voice, it does what I tell it to do, and I'm not constantly hitting apple+tab and apple+c and apple+v and so on, which really helps my wrists!
BUT. If I go for more than a minute or two without using a voice command, it stops working. I can't pinpoint anything else that triggers it other than if I stop using it for a little bit while I'm reading a paper or something. The microphone is calibrated and working, the little black arrows and the blue and green bars flash on the widget like it hears me, but then it won't give me the sound that says the command was recognized and it doesn't perform the command any time I try to use it again after a few minutes of not being used. It's like the recognition part goes to sleep and won't wake up.
If I go to the system preferences and toggle Speakable Itemst off and then on again, it starts working again until another minute or two of non-use. If I use spoken commands constantly, it will stay on for a good long while, but I'm not using it constantly that's the end of speech recognition. I really can't stop to just tell it some unneeded command to keep it awake all the time! Eventually, the computer gets confused if I turn the "speakable items" on and off too many times from the System Preferences, and it gets confused about whether or not it's turned on or off, or the widget disappears but the System Preferences panel thinks the Speakable Items is on.
I read somewhere that other people with a newer OS have a similar problem if they don't use the default speaking voice, so I switched to Alex and restarted, and the same thing is still happening.
I'm running 10.5.8, and using safari, word 2011, preview, nothing too crazy. My speech recognition is in "Listen only while key is pressed" mode, and like I said, works great until I stop using it for a minute or so. I'm using the internal microphone on my MacBook (dob circa 2008). Any tips on how I can actually keep my Speech Recognition useful? Thanks in advance!

OK, I have one more question now, seems to be the same as this question which was never answered years ago:
Speakable Commands>Application Switching -- how to delete items?
When I click on the triangle from the speech command widget and open speech commands, there is a TON of stuff there that I'll never ever use, but these things do not appear in the Library/Speech/Speakable Items folder so that I might be able to delete them. For example, one item I'd like to turn off is just the word "Home" and the computer keeps thinking that I said "Home" instead of whatever else I meant to say. Another keeps opening iChat or Mail, when I say "open new window" or something like that. I tried clicking, control clicking, option clicking, nothing will highlight a command in the Speech Commands window so that I might delete it.
The "Home" command only shows up when I'm using Word, in the "front window" list. However, the Application Speakable Items/Microsoft Word folder is empty. Is there some other way to get into the speakable commands list and weed out unwanted stuff?

  • Has anyone figured out how to get speech recognition working with sticky keys enabled on mountain lion?

I'm trying to use speech recognition to input text on my iMac running the latest mountain lion, 10.8.3.
    I have sticky keys enabled.
When I try to start speaking by pressing the function key twice nothing happens. I can only get it to work if I disable sticky keys.
The same problem occurs with all the other modifier keys as shortcut, they do not work with sticky keys.
When I try to select a different shortcut, I am unable to select a two key combination, but am limited to one.
If I select the F6 key, or any other single key, I am able to start speech recognition. However the second time that I press the key, it does not stop recognition and process my words. Instead, it restarts the recognition.
Has anyone figured out how to get speech recognition working with sticky keys enabled?
Or a way to get an individual key shortcut to start on the first press and process it on the second?
Or a way to get key combinations to work, as specified by the help:
    Dictation On and Off
    To use Dictation, click On.
When you’re ready to dictate text, place the insertion point where you want the dictated text to appear and press the Fn (function) key twice. When you see the lighted microphone icon and hear a beep, the microphone is ready for you to speak your text.
    Shortcut
By default, you press the Fn (Function) key twice to start dictation. If you like, you can choose a different shortcut from the menu.
To create a shortcut that’s not in the list, choose Customize, and then press the keys you want to use. You can press two or more keys to create your shortcut.

I noticed with version 10.8.4 of OS X that I am now able to select F6 to activate, and the return key to complete the speech recognition. This is still different than the description of how these should function that's included in the help, but at least it's an improvement.

  • Speech recognition for a programmer with RSI (not how to do in Java)

Guys, someone that I know has developed RSI and has almost had to drop out of programming.
Has any other programmer here been faced with this and been able to work around it? In particular, have you found a decent speech recognition system that allowed you to continue to work?
Note that I am not interested in learning how to implement speech recognition in a Java program, which is what [most of the posts here|http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5310499&tstart=0] are concerned with.
I am aware of Dragon Naturally Speaking, but there are some terrible reviews of it which have made me nervous. But if any of you give a glowing review, I will reconsider.
Since this is a java forum, and one of the best academic research projects in this field is [Sphinx-4|http://cmusphinx.sourceforge.net/sphinx4/] which is based on Java, does anyone know of an end user application comparable to Dragon Naturally Speaking which uses Sphinx-4?

  • After installing Lion on my Mac mini I no longer get a sound whe I plug in a usb device, and sometimes iTunes does not recognize my iPad.  Is this normal (lack of usb recognition sound)?

After installing Lion on my mini, I no longer get a "recognition sound" when I plug in a usb device.  Is this normal?

I am not sure any Mac every had a sound for plugging/unplugging USB devices.
You may be right. It's only on Windows that the sound is created and heard.
I know that since Tiger on this MBP, when I plug in my external scanner, I never heard anything.
And plugging in my Blu-Ray recorder also does not make any sounds.
I cannot speak for anything but my Mac laptops, however. Desktop Macs might make a sound.

  • In Mountain Lion, do I have to hit "Done" button to use Voice Recognition

    Hi,
I was wondering, once I hit the fn button twice, which activates the voice recognition, I speak and it listens, do I have to hit enter or click on Done button to conversate it in text?
I wish there's a way that as soon as I am done with the sentence, it should type it up automatically. i checked in settings and i couldn't find anything that can make this happen.

thanks very much for your reply Kurt, that news is quite a relief. As you can probably tell, i'm about to re-build my system from scratch, reformatting my drive. I'm currently at the point of researching do's and don'ts and i should add i very much liked your article on font management!

  • Does AS10g Wireless Support Voice Recognition?

    Hi,
We are looking to allow customers to create service requests in Oracle CRM via a voice recognition interface. The customer could speak answers to pre-defined questions over the phone and this is loaded into the CRM via an XML interface. Does AS10g wireless support this? If so, are there standard templates or does everything need to be custom built? Is this a lot more effort than other types of programming?
    Any help would be appreaciated.
    Paul

As far as I know, there isn't anything packaged to log SR into Oracle CRM using voice. But there is similar application available for Field Service Technicians. Technicians can get Customer/Task information using normal phone and using voice commands.
You may try to build a custom application using Mobile XML (MXML) of Oracle iAS Wireless for this purpose.
    Thanks,
    Hardik
