Specific process with all effects in Layer

Hi,
I'm new here and my english is not perfect...
For information, we have created a powerful board with many CPU on it for rendering many effect with less time. I have create Plug-ins for test 1 effect and it's working properly. Now I try to ask After Effect with various call from API to known how many layers is on the composition, how many effects will be processing , and the time slice for each one.
I see some examples and I try some call but every time these call return me error or exception. I call it the same way that in example !!!
example ..this call throw me a exception :
suites.PFInterfaceSuite()->AEGP_GetEffectLayer( in_data->effect_ref, &effect_layerH));
In SDK Manual (version 6.5) each call to API is explain for the purpose and parameter but never a sequence of call to do something. Is there some document that explain the real use of each suite is a good way.
Can you help me to find something or just tell me where I can read info.
Our purpose is special and we want to be signaled or known each effect before these one will be rendered to do some process... And the other thing that we want to do is intercept the effect before this one will be done and stop it by the SDK API call. Can we do that with the API ??

I'm not sure which version of AEGP_SuiteHandler you're using, but you may need to call PFInterfaceSuite1, not just PFInterfaceSuite. Set breakpoints and step into the function call, and you'll see where the exception occurs.

Duplicate a layer together with its effects

Hi,
When I am duplicating a layer by layerRef.duplicate(newDoc) it is copied without its assigned layer effects.
How is it possible to duplicate layers together with its effects?
Or ideally how could I manage to duplicate the layer together with all associated settings like transparency, effects, blendMode, etc.?

It cant be done . You have to write a z pogram to update the data in the new dbtable.

I'm having a problem in FCP7 with all video transitions. Every transition has a rolling flicker throughout the effect. What is causing this?

I recently upgraded to FCP7 from FCP6. I am now having an issue in playback with all video transitions. When I add a transition to my video it does not consistently play smoothly. I now appears to have an old "film" like flicker rolling through the effect. Our video was shot on a dslr and brought into FCP with compressor as a prores 422 file. We use magic bullet for our coloring effects which are in place on this video. When I was working on the project in FCP6 I did not have this problem. When the project was complete we upgraded to FCP7. The client has now come back to us wanting additional footage. So I opened the old project up into FCP7 and checked yes to all format updates to meet with FCP7 guidelines. So far this is the only problem I've encountered. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For me it looks like conflict with field order (upper, lower - interlaced).
Please, check Your sequence settings, maybe it should be set to "field order NONE" if Your source is progressive.
Next thing You could check:
in Your timeline with bad transitions look into "Effecs tab" - maybe FCP 7 added "shift field filter +/-1" after opening FCP 6 project.
In general - try to keep sequence settings same as source settings.

I have been able to open PDF docs using C# API Process.Start("Full_path_To_the_PDF_File") in windows 7 or windows 8 with all previous versions of Acrobat32 reader.

However, with v11.0, the same command, in Windows 8, it does not open the PDF document. I can see the Acrobat(32) started in the task manager, but the document does open. Not sure how I can troble shoot this problem. Any help would be appreciated.

I haven't use the C# API but I imagine it is the same as C ShellExecute. Which in turn is the same thing (in essence) as double clicking in Windows Explorer.
So... does Adobe Reader run normally on this machine?
And does it start and open if you double click on a PDF file?

How to synchronize a graphic on one layer with an effect on another

Hi. I'd like to use the bulge effect on my main layer to create distortions in the underlying graphic. I'd also like to synchronize this with the image of a magnifying glass or other lens so that when I mover the lens around, the main image distorts / bulges beneath it. Not sure if I should place the magnifying glass on its own layer (or the same layer as the main image). Also not sure how to go about parenting an effect (like bulge) to an object / image (like a magnifying glass).
Any help would be appreciated.

As to the Search function, I usually do try to search first because I understand these forums are pretty much run by volunteers who are giving freely of their time and expertise. That said, I rarely find what I need. Probably has to do with how the info is indexed, plus my overall lack of familiarity with After Effects at this point. For instance, I just tried putting in "linking a layer to an effect on another layer" or something like that. That pulled up a list of 20 or so items. There were a couple of links to Expressions, and that probably would have tipped me off to the right answer.
Anyway, I appreciate the link you provided, and I'll try to work on my searches.

Just noticed before uploading pictures that all my effects I'd applied on camera shots have returned to natural or no effect when I browsed the gallery , when you click edit however the picture is with the effect I started with and you cannot re apply it unless you change it ... Anyone else having this problem ??

I have te same unfortunate problem. Only happens in iPad. cameraRoll.browseForImage() opens a new window but wherever I touch (on folders, or anywhere on the window or out of the window) it dispatches a Cancel event and closes window.
I tried to dispatch flash.events.Event.DEACTIVATE, from nativeStage and from cameraRoll, before and after calling cameraRoll.browseForImage() , but still it was behaving same as above.
I tried setting displayState as:
Starling.current.nativeStage.displayState = StageDisplayState.NORMAL;
But no help neither.
It doesn't show any error, I don't have any other solutions to come up with. I feel that somehow I need to invoke application to deactivate, to let my touches focus on CameraRoll window, but I don't know how to do this actually (I tried to dispatch DEACTIVATE event from various sources but I dont believe it is an effective way of doing it).
I use AIR 16.0 with Starling, test on iOS 8.1.

Masking a Solid Layer with an Effect

Should be easy, you would think.
I have a solid layer (white) with a radio waves effect applied to it. I've got the effect dialed in and it's what I want, but I want to mask off just a triangular portion of this layer, creating a beam shape (not eminating in 360 degrees.)
But my mask has no effect on the effect, if you know what I mean. I've tried inverting the mask and changing the mask modes but nothing works.
Isn't there a way of masking a shape layer with an effect on it?

Precompose or nest.
Apply the triangular masking to the nest.
Think of it this way, your'e making a movie of the radio wave effect then importing the movie and applying a mask to the movie.
You can also set Radio Waves to use closed but custom shapes as the emission source but that's often more trouble than simply masking a nested pr precomposed sequence.

My Quad is as quiet with 10.4.5 as it was on arrival Jan 31, with 10.4.2
Altivec Fractal Carbon gives the CPU too much chance to cool down. I've got other ways to drive the CPU to sustained 100% load. Yes, the fans speed up, but it's still pretty quiet. I've run it at 100% for hours.
I like the idea of taking things gradually. If you can wait a few days before making big changes, it can make things much easier. 3-4 weeks is very conservative, but great if you have that much patience.
My Quad has been up full-time since I got it. Works perfectly.

Load Balancing Forms Services with an effective healthcheck

I am in the process of configuring two forms 11.1.2 servers running with weblogic 10.3.5 with multiple forms applications clustered across both physical servers. We are looking to load balance to the various forms applications using a hardware load balancer. Can anyone comment on their experience with setting up effective application healthchecks using either hardware or software load balancers?
For example say that we have 3 applications clustered across 2 servers with the following
URLs:

We would need a checking mechanism on the load balancer that could tell if myapp2 was down on say server01 and therefore block traffic to that application yet keep traffic open for the other 2 apps on the same server.
A specific difficulty with forms is that when the database behind the application is down forms services will return an error message within a displayed error form. From the load balancer's point of view the forms services are "up". We need to find a way of detecting that the application is actually available and not just that the forms services themselves are available. To detect that the forms services are available we might normally use the status check:
http://server01:7777/forms/frmservlet?ifcmd=status
however this will only tell use the availability of the forms services on a physical server and not whether any actual applications are available.
I am aware that f5 do a BIGIP offering that includes some Oracle Forms specific components. Can anyone comment on how they have setup Oracle Forms healthchecks using various load balancing methods. In particular if a load balancer is limited to using WGET commands to check HTTP returned content is there a way of checking a forms application's availability and if not how have other people achieved an effective healthcheck?

I am having some problems trying to load balance with Oracle Forms, Discover and reports Oracle Application Server Release 10g (9.0.4.0.2) and I was wondering if you could help. Has any one ever got this to work consistently? We are an ERP product written mostly in forms (904) and are trying to implement are largest customer there performance issue so we need the load balancing to work. Will also accept other recommendation as cost effective as solutions.
