SQLSERVER Merge Replication Error: Command attempted: {call sp_MSreleasemakegenerationapplock}

Dear Friends, I updated SQL SERVER 2k5 with SP4 and I am getting error while synchronizing merge replication.
Here is the error in Replication Monitor:
Command attempted:
{call sp_MSreleasemakegenerationapplock}
Error messages:
The merge process was unable to create a new generation at the 'Subscriber'. Troubleshoot by restarting the synchronization with verbose history logging and specify an output file to which to write. (Source: MSSQL_REPL, Error number: MSSQL_REPL-2147200994)
Get help: http://help/MSSQL_REPL-2147200994
Internal Query Processor Error: The query processor encountered an unexpected error during execution. (Source: MSSQLServer, Error number: 8630)
Get help: http://help/8630
I executed below statement in both Publisher and Subscriber, but didn't help.
update sysmergepublications set [generation_leveling_threshold] = 0
Some suggests that I should use SP2 Update Package, Though that is installed and I am using SP4 now.

Hi arahmancsd,
Hi arahmancsd,
According to your error message, when you sync data in merge replication, check if you use a SELECT INTO query statement. If you run the same INTO query twice and separately or you perform an operation that causes SQL Server to recompile the second SELECT
INTO query, they all return the error 8630 message.
For more information, see:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/323586/en-us
Since you have changed the generation_leveling_threshold to 0 in sysmergepublications table in publisher and in subscriber. Please do not update the system tables directly. You can follow the steps mentioned in workaround section of
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953568.
Hope it can help you.

  • Merge Replication Error When Initialising subscription

I have a SQL server 2005 server with a merge publication of 6 articles all of which are tables which is also the distributor. I have two existing subscriptions one from a SQL 2005
Server and one from a SQL Server 2008 R2 Server both of which are working fine on this publication. I am trying to setup a third subscription to another SQL Server 2008 R2 server, the only difference with this server is that it is a named instance. I have
forced the port to 1433, and created an alias on the publisher connectivity is not an issue or at least i don't think so.
    when I try to initialise the subscription from a new snapshot I get the below error;
    Error: 14151, Severity: 18, State: 1.
Replication-Replication Merge Subsystem: agent failed. No subscription is on this publication or article.
    I've changed the agent profile and turned on verbose logging and output the results to a file the snapshot delivery is failing on the below for the first table;
    call sys.sp_MSsetup_identity_range (?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?)
I've checked the subscriber and the table does indeed get dropped and created, permissions / routes don't seem to be an issue. I've included some of the verbose logging output below.

The table gets dropped and recreated each time i try to reinitialise the subscription.  I can't remove the article at the moment as two other servers subscribe to the publication.

  • Merge Replication: subscriber database error

    Hello
We have a principal application database running on SQL Server 2005, which has 300 GB information.
This database is synchronized with multiple subscribers using merge replication agent, allowing changes at both the publisher and subscribers.
Client applications connect to the subscribers and not the publisher, so the information is loaded in the subscribers.
Last week, one of the subscribers had storage level error (broken discs) that caused corruption in the file system of the server.
Then, the merge replication with this server began to fail due to bad sectors of the file system. But the database remained online, and the application continued to function normally, so new information was loaded in database.
Because disk errors, it was not possible backed up the affected database or copy databases files to save the information. Subscribers regular backups were NOT performed.
After resolving disk errors and repaired the file system, database was restored,
but had consistency errors which were repaired by the DBCC CHECKDB command with
    repair_allow_data_loss option.
Comparing the number of records before and after repair, we estimates that some records were lost in the database.
Replication has not been restored yet.
Now we have the following questions:
    - What happens with lost data in the subscriber database if the merge synchronization is reactivated? We estimate that the lost data will be replicated to the Publisher, and want to avoid that.
    - Is there any way to sync (download) data from the Publisher to the Subscriber to load the missing records again? Avoiding of course the upload from the subscriber to the publisher.
    - If the above point is possible, may you then make the upload to the publisher to sync the information loaded into the database subscriber?
    - If these actions are not possible, have we another ways to sync the information, to avoid losing data in the subscriber?
    Thanks in advance
    Javier

    Hi,
You can configure the Synchronization direction in Article Property. Right-click the Publication, click Properties. In the Articles page, set the properties of the articles. See the image:

  • Get-mailboxdatabasecopystatus -identity DBNAME | fl gives errors "The Microsoft Exchange Replication service encountered an error while attempting to start a replication instance for". DB is mounted and the DB copies are in healthy status.

We are getting a SCOM alert " Database copy isn''''t keeping up with the changes on the active database copy and has failed."
When we go to the mailbox server and check we found all the Mailbox DB's are mounted properly and their copies are in healthy state. Further digging to this problem we found that there are no critical events to this DB in the eventviewer.
When we runt he get-mailboxdatabasecopystatus -identity DBNAME | Fl then in the ErrorMessage section we get error "The Microsoft Exchange Replication service encountered an error while attempting to start a replication instance for . If the copy doesn't
recover automatically, administrator intervention may be necessary. Error: The directory is not empty."
    ErrorEventID : 4126
In the event viewer we get a Information event 4114 saying the DB redundancy health check passed and in the details section we get the same error message mentioned above.
Also we observed that the "MSExchange Replication" counter "Failed" is set to 1 for this perticular DB but is is set to 0 for the other DB's. Tried restarting the MSEXChange replication service but still the "Failed" counter
is 1 and the SCOM alert is still active.
    The version is Exchange 2010 SP3 UR5
    Any clues???

    Hi,
From your description, this issue only affect one mailbox datatabase.
Please use the Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy command to check result.
If it doesn't work, please dismount your active database copy and check if this is Clean Shutdown, if it's dirty shutdown, please bring to clean shutdown and mount this database copy. Then run the Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy command again to check result.

    How to FIX this issue?
    Regards,
    Stunner.

    Hi,
Unfortunately, the available information is not enough to have a clear view of the occurred behavior. Base on my experience, it may cause by some of one resource abnormal
failure, I suggest that please schedule a down time to run “Repair Active Directory object” in “Simulate Failue of this resource” status. And the operation “Repair Active Directory Object” will force to update the object’s attributes.

  • Merge Replication Primary Table Key Error

We have a SQL Server 2008 database that is replicated to Australia.  The primary data tables are merge replicated.  The replication cycle is 1 hour.  We have a situation where a user inserted a row into a table, deleted the row, then reinserted
it within an hour.  The merge replication failed because of a primary key uniqueness violation on that table.  We have been told that merge replication cannot handle this scenario.
From what little I can get from the MS literature, the replication triggers should have handled this.  The delete trigger should have removed the insert entry from the replication tables and the second insert should have removed the entry from the delete
replication tables, leaving the replication processing to only do the second insert.  Can anyone clarify what is really supposed to happen here or if this is in fact a limitation of merge replication?

    The table creation SQL is:

  • "error: command failed to execute correctly" on several packages

Last night, when I updated before shutting down, I got a few errors, as in the subject. As it was very late, I thought I'd pick it up today.
Unfortunately, the pacman log only lists one of the ones that failed as libgpg-error. The other one that I remember erroring was gawk. There were a few others, maybe four or five, but I couln't reliably recall them all, so won't guess.
Here's a new attempt to reinstall gawk with --debug. I did the same with libgpg-error and the error occurred at the same place, with very similar output, so I think the issue is the same for all failures.

pacman thinks the upgrade/reinstall was successful in that the latest version is installed.
I did a search on the forums and the only other issue that I thought was connected might be microcode not up to date, but I had followed the update instructions some time back and as far as I can tell, the microcode  is up to date.
    I have two main questions:
    1) How do I work out what's causing the error, from above?
    2) Is there a way I can work out which packages gave the error, so I can make sure they're installed properly?
    Thanks.

The following packages also had problems
    ( 2/17) upgrading glibc
error: command failed to execute correctly
    ( 3/17) upgrading binutils
error: command failed to execute correctly
    ( 4/17) upgrading coreutils
error: command failed to execute correctly
    ( 8/17) upgrading gcc
error: command failed to execute correctly
    ( 9/17) upgrading gcc-fortran
error: command failed to execute correctly
    (10/17) upgrading gcc-libs
error: command failed to execute correctly
    Does anybody have a clue?
    Thanks,

  • FSMO Replication Error

I have been getting a pattern of errors on my DC. I have two pair of eyes on these errors, but everything seems to running ok. The only issue we've had is our workstations were putting out the "Trust domain relationship failed..." error. We were
able fix this issue by removing those machines from the domain, changing the names, and then adding them back. My only concern is that the errors below were the cause of that, and that the issue may return unless this is resolved. I've checked all of my services
and DNS's settings. IPv6 is on. There haven't been any changes to the server in sometime. Which is the baffling part. Any insight on this would be very helpful. I apologize in advance for not being well versed in this area... AD Replication is not my strongest
    point.

    Log Name:      Directory Service

    Date:          1/15/2015 9:16:53 AM
    Event ID:      2092
    Task Category: Replication
    Level:         Warning
    Keywords:      Classic
    User:          ANONYMOUS LOGON
    Computer:      LAHDC1.LAH
    Description:
This server is the owner of the following FSMO role, but does not consider it valid. For the partition which contains the FSMO, this server has not replicated successfully with any of its partners since this server has been restarted. Replication errors are
    preventing validation of this role.
Operations which require contacting a FSMO operation master will fail until this condition is corrected.
    FSMO Role: CN=RID Manager$,CN=System,DC=LAH
    User Action:
    1. Initial synchronization is the first early replications done by a system as it is starting. A failure to initially synchronize may explain why a FSMO role cannot be validated. This process is explained in KB article 305476.
    2. This server has one or more replication partners, and replication is failing for all of these partners. Use the command repadmin /showrepl to display the replication errors.  Correct the error in question. For example there maybe problems with IP connectivity,
DNS name resolution, or security authentication that are preventing successful replication.
    3. In the rare event that all replication partners being down is an expected occurance, perhaps because of maintenance or a disaster recovery, you can force the role to be validated. This can be done by using NTDSUTIL.EXE to seize the role to the same server.
This may be done using the steps provided in KB articles 255504 and 324801 on http://support.microsoft.com.
The following operations may be impacted:
Schema: You will no longer be able to modify the schema for this forest.
Domain Naming: You will no longer be able to add or remove domains from this forest.
PDC: You will no longer be able to perform primary domain controller operations, such as Group Policy updates and password resets for non-Active Directory Domain Services accounts.
RID: You will not be able to allocation new security identifiers for new user accounts, computer accounts or security groups.
Infrastructure: Cross-domain name references, such as universal group memberships, will not be updated properly if their target object is moved or renamed.

    Description:
During the previous 24 hour period, some clients attempted to perform LDAP binds that were either:
    (1) A SASL (Negotiate, Kerberos, NTLM, or Digest) LDAP bind that did not request signing (integrity validation), or
    (2) A LDAP simple bind that was performed on a cleartext (non-SSL/TLS-encrypted) connection
This directory server is not currently configured to reject such binds.  The security of this directory server can be significantly enhanced by configuring the server to reject such binds.  For more details and information on how to make this configuration
change to the server, please see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=87923.
Summary information on the number of these binds received within the past 24 hours is below.
You can enable additional logging to log an event each time a client makes such a bind, including information on which client made the bind.  To do so, please raise the setting for the "LDAP Interface Events" event logging category to level 2
    or higher.
Number of simple binds performed without SSL/TLS: 0
Number of Negotiate/Kerberos/NTLM/Digest binds performed without signing: 994

    I see the following errors:
"The source server is currently rejecting replication requests."
"Replication has been explicitly disabled through the server options."
I would recommend starting with this MS KB which describes your problem: https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2023007?wa=wsignin1.0
Also, I would recommend that you follow the recommendations I shared in this Wiki: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/18513.active-directory-replication-issues-basic-troubleshooting-steps-single-ad-domain-in-a-single-ad-forest.aspx

  • Replication Error between DC and PDC after a reboot.

    Hi,
We have a very small  server environment and having one DC and one ADC.  Last week ADC got a sudden restart. After booting it shown one service failed error.  Since then the ADC  is not replicating with DC.  Giving below the diagnosis
results of Dcdiag and FSMO check.

    Hi suren,
Error 1256 is logged as the replication status per partition as a result of the destination DC cancelling the sync request from the source DC due to a connectivity failure previously encountered.

  • SQL PULL Merge Replication over web - totally unreliable?

    Hi,
We have problems performing SQL PULL merge replication over the web.  Most of the time it works fine, but periodically we experience issues as described below.  Our application uses SQL Express for subscribers and we have our own C# RMO code for
the agent.  We have eliminated our application as the source of the problem by setting up a full SQL Server as a subscriber and using the built in agent.  It experiences the same problems.
    1. Unable to download a snapshot.
After reinitializing a subscriber, the snapshot will partially download and will then suddenly stop with the error:
The connection with the server was terminated abnormally
There is no obvious timeout issue, the error typically occurs as soon as one of the .bcp files is about to be downloaded.  It's often the same .bcp file that has the problem, but not always so there is no consistency.
The only solution is to continually retry until the download eventually succeeds.  Recreating the snapshot before retrying seems to improve the chances of a successful sync.
    2. Unable to perform a normal sync (i.e. an update, rather than a full snapshot)
An attempt to perform a sync results in the following information being logged:
The upload message to be sent to Publisher 'SERVER2' is being generated
The merge process is using Exchange ID 'F82F1A56-A81A-4786-A469-7A76259F9ED8' for this web synchronization session.
No data needed to be merged.
Request message generated, now making it ready for upload.
Upload request size is 1895 bytes.
At this point the sync simply stops doing anything.  There are no errors, the agent still appears to be running, but nothing else happens.
We typically experience this problem once every few weeks.  Reinitializing a subscriber does not help, the same problem occurs.  The only solution is to recreate the snapshot and then to reinitialize the subscriber.  This then requires the
subscriber to perform a full sync which takes around 45 minutes for our dataset.
I am aware through online searches that others have experienced similar issues with SQL replication over web.  Are there any practical solutions to these issues, or is SQL replication over web simply broken?

Hi Brandon, I noticed a post from you back towards the end of last year where you said you were giving up on it.  Did you ever get it resolved?  If not, did you identify a viable alternative solution?
We need to replicate a SQL database to mobile tablets over 3G.  We've invested a lot of time and effort trying to make this solution work and to find that even using straight SQL server to SQL server has the same issues is disconcerting.
One possible option is that although we currently use merge replication, that was really just a bad design decision taken early on.  We only perform one way replication, all our articles are flagged as one way only, server down to clients.  I have
considered maybe moving towards transactional replication but unless I'm 100% certain I won't hit the same kind of issues, it really isn't viable to invest the time and effort.

  • SQL Server Compact 3.5 Merge Replication With SQL Server 2012 - Causing IIS App Pool to Crash

Hi, I may be the only person in the world doing this but I wanted to give this information to anyone else who may follow this path in the future, and hopefully avoid a headache, or at least a paid support call to Microsoft.
My original scenario was we had a SQL Server 2008 Server using Merge Replication through and IIS (web server) to several Windows Mobile 6 devices.  This has worked fairly well for a few years.
Recently we upgraded our SQL server to version 2012 SP 1.  After moving the database over to the new server, and re-setting the merge replication stuff, we couldn't get merge replication to work on the Windows Mobile 6 handheld devices.  The replication
would appear to start, and then we would get a message saying that the device could not get to the web site.  The message on the handheld device was this:
"The IIS service is not available."
After doing some more research, we found that the start of the replication process was causing the Thread Pool that was running the SQLCESA35.dll to crash.
The SQLCESALOG.txt file had this information:
    Date Time == SQLCESA Version ==> 3.5.8088.0
Date Time Hr=80004005 ERR:Couldn't find existing RSCB 1
After 2 days of trying to figure out the issue on our own, we gave in and called for paid Microsoft support.  They eventually found a known issue where a cumulative update was able to fix the problem.
We installed the update on the IIS server and everything ran smoothly again.
FIX: Merge replication fails when you use SQL Server Compact to perform a merge replication that synchronizes changes with a publisher in SQL Server 2012

When using in BI SAP NetWeaver 2004s (700 - SP 15) the transaction ST04old -> Detail analysis menu -> Summary report
    The following short dump occurs:

    Short text
Error when attempting to IMPORT object "TS_CHECK".
    What happened?
Error in the ABAP Application Program
The current ABAP program "SAPLSTD4" had to be terminated because it has
come across a statement that unfortunately cannot be executed.
    Error analysis
An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_IMPORT_MISMATCH_ERROR', was
    not caught in
procedure "DB02_ORA_FILL_TS_CHECK__CRITOB" "(FUNCTION)", nor was it propagated
    by a RAISING clause.
Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
The reason for the exception is:
When importing the object "TS_CHECK", the component no. 4 in the
dataset has a different type from the corresponding component
of the target object in the program "SAPLSTD4".
The data type is "I" in the dataset, but "N" in the program.

Received the solution from SAP Active Global Support:
This error occurs due a corruption in the table MONI.
For solving this issue you need to clean the records of this table via the following path :
    1. Call transaction ST03
    2. With GOTO -> Performance database -> Content of database
    3. Push button Delete data group
    4. Enter ID DB

    Hi all,

Thanks all, It was an oversight. A very silly mistake and I took a lot of your time, sorry about that.
I had the folder structure set as "hide known file types". And I named the file with an extension import.txt assuming the file's name is import and the extension is .txt. That was the error and that is why epma-batch-client could not locate the file called import.txt in the E: drive while the file name was actually import.txt.txt.
I fixed that and now it runs fine as expected.

  • An internal error occured while calling 'processDPCommandsEx' API. (Error: ERR_WIS_30270)

    Hi ALL,
I am facing a wierd issue while opening/refreshing/broadcasting a webi report.
    The error message scrnshot:
This error is not throughout the reports, but for specific reports only, when checked the Bex query definition it works fine, but gives error for Webi reports.
Recently we had upgrade of BO 4.0 SP7 patch 9.
The reports are directly built on Bex queries, Bex queries contains simple Structures and few CKF's.
Would be thankful for any help recieved in resolving the above issue.
    Regards,
    Jaywant Kulkarni.

    Hi jaywant,
Please check the note: 1760827 it may be helpful
( An internal error occurred while calling the 'processDPCommands' API. (ERR_WIS_30270) due to some scenarios.
    Scenario 1:
Error occurs when try to refresh a migrated Web Intelligence report in InfoView, after entering a date or dates for prompts.
    Suggested Solution:
    Modify problematic report in Webi.
Change the prompt definition to be a constant, run the report in Webi, and save it.
Change the prompt definition back to prompt with required date definition. Make sure you are using the correct date format! (The report prompt should tell you what the format is supposed to be.) Re-run the report in Webi, and save it.
Re-open the report in InfoView and refresh.
Scenario 2:  Error occurs when trying to edit the properties of a Webi report containing merged dimensions.
    Suggested Solution:
Remove the merged dimensions and then re-establish them.
Scenario 3:  Error occurs when the InfoView report has been open and idle for a long time.
    Suggested Solution:
This error can be an indication of a time-out, based on the server’s settings.  Make sure you save your work often.  You will need to close and re-open the report when you get this error, and you may have lost any unsaved changes.

  • VBA Merge PDFs - Error when first and second PDF are the same

Using http://khkonsulting.com/2009/03/adobe-acrobat-and-vba-an-introduction/ as a guide, I am able to successfully merge multiple pdf's together into one document using VBA (Access mdb), except when the PDF being merged to has the same name as the next PDF.
Here's my scenario.  An Access table is updated with a list of reports that need to be printed.  All of these reports are PDF's.  I loop thru this table and merge the PDF's according to an identifier, then print the group.  There are times
when there are multiple copies of the same report for an identifier.  If the PDF being merged to has the same name of the PDF being merged, an error occurs.  How can I handle this situation?
Sample data:  This identifier (ESO and Pulling) needs to merge these PDF's (Aaa.PDF) together which happen to have the same name.  Aaa.PDF is trying to merge Aaa.PDF and this throws an error.
    Aaa.PDF ESO  Pulling
    Aaa.PDF ESO  Pulling
This identifier merges fine despite having the same PDF twice.  But the first PDF is not named the same.  Xxx.PDF is the first PDF and merges the next two into it.  The last two
    are named the same.
    Xxx.PDF  916  Pulling
    Bbb.PDF  916  Pulling
    Bbb.PDF  916  Pulling
    Code:
    pdfDoc1.Open (filesToMerge(1))
    numPages = pdfDoc1.GetNumPages()
    Set pdfDoc2 = CreateObject("AcroExch.PDDoc")
    Dim i As Integer
    For i = 2 To intNbr - 1
    pdfDoc2.Open (filesToMerge(i))
    If pdfDoc1.InsertPages(numPages - 1, pdfDoc2, 0, pdfDoc2.GetNumPages(), True) = False Then
    MsgBox "Cannot insert pages"
    End If
    pdfDoc2.Close
    Next i
    If pdfDoc1.Save(PDSaveFull, "C:\....\ReportPacket__" & Trim(CStr(intReportCount)) & "__" & ... & ".pdf") = False Then
MsgBox "Cannot save the modified document"
    End If
    pdfDoc1.Close
The pdfDoc1.InsertPages command fails, displays "Cannot insert pages", then displays "Method 'Close' of object 'CAccroPDDoc' failed.
Thanks for any help or advice.

    Hi
As far as I know, Access didn't provide such method. But I think you are able to achieve this goal through some 3rd party PDF component
    Hope this will help you.
    Best Regards
