SSDT-BI for VS2013 -- issues with VSTA (script transformations?)

Hello,
I created a new VM (win7 64bit) and did a full install of SQL 2014.  I downloaded and installed the SSDT-BI for VS2013 (12.0.2430.0).  I created a new SSIS package and within the DFT added a script transformation.
I'm getting the following error:
This program has known compatibility issues....  VS 2012 is incompatible with this version of Windows.
What's going on here?
Is SSDT-BI for VS2013 trying to utilize VSTA 2012 and if so, is VSTA 2012 not compatible with VS2013?
Do I have to do something to change the VSTA to use 2013?  If so, how?
Would (or should) I try to use SSDT-BI for VS2012 instead of SSDT-BI for 2013?
Getting very frustrated with all of this. I've also downloaded and installed VS2013 Ultimate but that didn't resolve anything.
Anyone have some advice/guidance with the above?
Thanks,
Ken

Hi Ken,
If I understand correctly, the ScriptLanguage property of C# script tasks show "Microsoft Visual C# 2012” in SSDT-BI for VS 2013. And when we click the "Edit script" button in the script task, we will see that a VS 2012 shell is started which
triggers a "Program compatibility issues" warning.
After testing the issue in my environment, I can reproduce it in SSDT-BI for VS 2013. It seems that the issue is caused by the Script Task use VS2012 shell in SSDT-BI for VS 2013. But we can edit and execute the task without any problem.
Besides,
here is a feedback that you can vote for. This is a much better chance of this getting fixed if you log a Connect and vote on it to get it fixed. Microsoft would do take votes into account when they prioritize features.
Thank you for your understanding.

  • Alignmnet Issues with SAP Script

Hi All i have an issue with SAP script i have few columns in the script where in the values in the column changes dynamically. For example the value of second column in the first row can be 5 characters and the value of the same in the 2nd row can be of 10 characters and it keeps varying for every row but the max length of it would be 20 characters.
Now the issues is with the second column as the text in this column keep varying the text in the same row after the second column keep moving either towards right or towards left depending on the text in the second column,Can any one help me as how  can i fix this issue.

  • Best method for timestamping? (for later use with perl script)

What is the best method that I can use to timestamp events in Linux for later use with perl script?
I am performing some energy measurements.. where I am running several tasks separated by 20 secs in between. Before I start any execution of tasks, I always place initial delay for me to start the script and start the measurement device.
My problem is that I don't know how long is that first delay exactly. So to solve this, I thought I could use date commands to time stamp all tasks.. or at least to timestamp first dela.
Here is example of what I am doing:
    1st delay
    task 1
    20s
    task 2
    20s
    task 3..... etc
What would be the best to use?

    logger.
It posts messages straight to the system log.  You can see the message, in all its glory using tools like journalctl.  You will see the message, the date, time, host name, user name, and the PID of logger when it ran.

  • When will SSDT-BI for VS2013 support SSIS 2012?

    Hi
When will SSDT-BI for VS2013 support SSIS 2012?
Of a bit more elaborate: If you would like to develop packages for SSIS 2012 (that is SQL 2012) using VS 2013, when can you then expect an update to SSDT-BI for VS2013 that allow this?
    Thanks
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
The Microsoft SQL Server Data Tools - Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2013 is the native SSDT of SQL Server 2014. Be different from SSRS and SSAS projects, SSIS projects created in SSDT (SQL Server 2012 version or SQL Server 2014 version) are not
backward compatible. So, it won’t be supported to create SSIS 2012 format packages in Microsoft SQL Server Data Tools - Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2013.
There are already two versions of SSDT for SQL Server 2012: the native one that uses Visual Studio 2010 shell, and the
standalone one that uses Visual Studio 2012 shell. Personally, I don’t think they will plan a third version of SQL Server 2012 SSDT that uses Visual Studio 2013 shell.

  • Intermittent issues with Matlab Script in LV2012

I'm having some intermittent issues with the Matlab Script in LV2012.  I'm running Windows 7 64 bit, and my Matlab is 2013 64-bit.  I've tried the suggestion here:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/8BEBC0C86541224286257AF300561B5E
I tried this but it didn't work for me.
    I've also looked at this:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/2B3FF46C8512C4F786256CF30071BE53?OpenDocument
In one of my .vi's if I change 2 of the 3 input variables to the complex type, it works.  It seems to be insensitive to the data type of the first input variable.  In another .vi this trick doesn't work at all.  The fix given in the link is to update the .dll, but this seems to be old news as the .dll in my directory is newer than the one referenced in this link.
The other funny thing is these scripts worked fine on Friday afternoon, but were throwing this error this morning.  I've closed and reloaded both Labview and Matlab, but that didn't fix the issue.
Are there any new fixes for this issue that I haven't been able to find?
    Thanks,

  • FR Studio - Is there a workaround for the issue with referencing data from a grid with a different DB connection and different # of dimensions?

    Hi,
I am trying to reference a column in a different grid with a different database connection. I did some research in the forums, and it seems like this is a known issue with FR Studio. The issue is that if the 2 different database connections have different # of dimensions, then the reference will throw an error.
For example, what I'm trying to do is below:
In grid2.column[A], I have the following formula:
    grid1.column[A]
    The result is an error.
The ultimate goal is to have a basic variance formula in the grid between grid1 and grid2, which have different database connections with a different # of dimensions. Is there a workaround at all to this bug? The example of the basic formula is below:
    grid1.column[A] - grid2.column[A]
    Any help is much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Tiffany

Thanks for the detailed response Mike.
The issue with trying it in Grid1 vs Grid2 is that Grid1's DB connection has more dimensions than Grid2's DB connection. I can't change the DB connection to a database with more dimensions because you have to be able to map all dimensions from the existing DB connection  (Grid1) to the new DB connection (Grid2). This isn't possible, so instead I have to map Grid2 (less dimensions) to Grid1 (more dimensions). It just ignores the extra dimensions from Grid1. Does that make sense?
Thanks again for your responses. It's very much appreciated.

  • NVIDIA QUADRO 4000 for MAC---Issues with Adobe Premeire

    Hello,
    Mac Pro (Tower)
    *OS 10.7.5
    *2.8 GHx Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    *16 GB RAM
I've had a multitude of issues with Adobe Premiere on this system and I'm not sure what to attribute it to.  First of all: I have two MAC Book Pro's that run APremiere, with similiar specs and only 8GB of RAM.  These two laptops run APremiere flawlessly and it's because of this reason that I can deduce, that my 'tower' is having issues because of the NVIDIA QUADRO 4000 installed; it's the only difference, besides the RAM, that the computers have.  Has anyone had issues using the NVIDIA QUADRO 4000 before?  Some of the issues I've been having are (please note, these issues are random, happen at random times and on random projects.  The majority of the footage I use is MOV (from DSLR cameras) and MP4's (from a Sony EX-1)):
    *Renders crashing
    *Slow clip playback
*An oddity: certain MP4 files will go out of sync-on playback from APremiere and even in a VLC player
    *AMedia Encoder crashes
Maybe the NVIDIA has nothing to do with it?
Thanks for your time and help.
    Tim S.

Maybe the NVIDIA has nothing to do with it?
One way to accrue evidence would be to turn off Mercury Playback in the Project Settings.
I have that card, and turning of MPE often gets me through a session.  Some here have claimed that the card is the cause of the frequent Serious Errors, and disabling it is the solution.
That's hardly satisfactory when one of the best features of Pr is the ability to use CUDA.
However, anything going through the card also has to pass through Pr and the OS.  Adobe claims that updating to 10.8 fixes some bugs, but according to some here (myself included), not enough.
I had one project recently that I couldn't get the Serious Errors to stop until I re-installed the nVidia driver.
But, your list of problems could be due to corrupt Pr preferences.  If you have a Mac, you need to get used to refreshing your prefs several times a day.  They could also be corrupt media.  That will cause renders to crash.

  • Any fix for wifi issues with ios8?

Just submitting another questions asking for help with IOS8 wifi issues. Nobody from Apple has commented or acknowledged any issues with wifi, so we, the users, are left to fend for ourselves.
My specific issue is that 5GHz Wireless N seems to have incredibly short range, and 2.4GHZ Wireless N cuts out after about 3 seconds of use. I have tried all of the fixes described in every post I can find. I've deleted network settings, I've completely wiped the phone and started from scratch, I've done everything possible.
Now that wifi doesn't work with IOS8 I can no longer use my iPhone 5 with AirPlay our any of my other devices in my home. The fact that Apple has refused to say anything about the problem, and the fact that they are blocking users from rolling back shows a level of arrogance that's absolutely amazing. Thankfully this is all happening before I bought an iPhone6, which I'm now seriously considering avoiding if this experience is any indication of Apple's commitment to quality.
Are there any other tricks out there to get 2.4Ghz working? I know that we, the poor users of Apple products, are on our own, so I'm hoping that someone can help.

I got iPhone 6 IOS8 [ not updated ] for a few months now worked fine until now WiFi not working  in my home tried reset , turning off phone , nothing worked , Got it to work by unplugging the router WiFi Box unit for a few seconds  ! works like a charm now , Super fast

  • Reason for Flash issues with 10.2 update

I think I am beginning to understand the Flash issue. Because I have several Mac's and have only had one develop a issue with the new Flash 10.2 update. My feeling is that the one Mac a White Macbook with Intel graphics is the only one having the issue. While my other Mac's a Macbook Air, and two Mac Mini's with the Nvidia 9400M graphics and the Air's Nvidia 320M are not. Leads me to believe that somehow the hardware acceleration in the Flash that puts more use of the graphics chip rather then the CPU may be the cause. It may not work as well with the Intel graphics. The Flash official requirements is 128Mb of VRAM for it to work. I would say the older Intel chips may be causing a problem. Now why it works in 32 Bit mode with Safari is a bit of a mystery. A quick fix seems to be to enable Safari to run in 32 Bit or to use Google's Chrome browser which has built in Flash.

mmm.. please see the thread "Flash 10.2 choppy in fullscreen." I have plenty of VRAM here 288MB to be precise. 32bit or more RAM is not the solution as neither it is to turn the automatic switch in energy preferences. Clearly everything works well with version 10.1, problems just happen when you upgrade to version 10.2 and 10.3(beta).

  • Solution for sleep issues with external display?

I had an Early 2011 Macbook Pro that worked quite well with an external display.  I now have a Mid 2012 Macbook Pro (bought 5 days ago, and running 10.10.3) that will not consistently work with the same external monitor.
I had it working yesterday for a few hours only if I left the MBP with the top open (both the MBP screen and external monitor stayed lit).  But, today it is back to freezing each time the monitor is connected to it.
    I have tried:
    1.  Connecting the external monitor to the MBP with the top open.  Results in the MBP screen now going dark and no signal being passed to the external monitor.  If the external monitor is disconnected, the MBP screens stays dark and the computer is unresponsive requiring a hard restart.
    2.  Connecting the external monitor to the MBP with the top closed.  Results in no signal being sent to the external monitor.  Disconnecting the external monitor and reopening the MBP yields, again, and unresponsive computer which requires a hard restart.
I have tried three different external monitors, all giving the same result.  The MBP is connect to external power, and I am running the latest OS (10.10.3).
Any suggestions before I return this to the Apple store in a rage?  :-)

    Hello there, Gaflin.
I'm sorry to hear you're having so much trouble getting your external display to work the way you are expecting with your new MacBook Pro. The following Knowledge Base article provides a great checklist of steps for troubleshooting the issue you seem to be describing:
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays - Apple Support
No video or no signal, image distortion, "snow," or flickering
    Check connections
When using an external display be sure to check the following:
If you're using an Apple notebook, confirm the AC power cable or adapter is securely connected to the computer and the cable providing power to the display is also secure. It is always good to have your notebook connected to AC power when an external display is in use.
Confirm display adapters are fully seated in their respective connections and that they are supported models and for the computer and display. Refer to these articles to assist you with adapter compatibility and further configuration information:
    Monitor and Display Adapter Table
About Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters
Apple Mini DisplayPort adapters: Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Thunderbolt ports and displays: Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Remove all display cable extenders, KVM switches, or other like devices and retest to determine if the issue is resolved.
Try unplugging the video adapter or cable and then plug it back in.
If more than one video adapter is in use (or "daisy-chained"), troubleshoot by using only one adapter.
Example: A mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter connected to a DVI to HDMI adapter is an unsupported configuration because there is a series of adapters in use.
If available, try using a different display and or adapter (or use a different connector by using DVI instead of VGA, for instance).
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
    Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
    Restart your computer.
Using Closed lid, Extended Desktop, or Mirroring display modes
When using multiple displays, information can be presented in a number of ways. For more information and what modes are supported by your Apple product refer to:
Apple Portables: How to use your computer in closed lid (display closed) mode with an external display

  • Issue with calculation script - please help

There is a script that I am working on that needs to track the changes made by the user on the data form and push the entered value down proportionally to the lower levels.
It’s a signal dimensional spread. It needs to spread the parent level values entered by the users for the product dimension to below levels. The Products are in rows.
The issue is that the users can enter their data at any level for the product dimension i.e. either at Level 0 product members, Level 1 product members or at Level 2 product members. I am using two accounts A & B in sync to track the changes made.
The structure of Product dimension that shows up on the form is similar to this –
~ Products (The user can enter starting at this level and also the below levels)
    ~ Product A
    ~ Product A1 (Level 0)
    ~ Product A2 (Level 0)
    ~ Product A3 (Level 0)
    ~ Product B (Level 0)
    ~ Product C (Level 0)
    ~ Product D
    ~ Product D1 (Level 0)
    ~ Product D2 (Level 0)
This is what I came up with so far but it’s not working in all the cases yet. Please give your suggestions to modify this script further to make it work the right way.

    AccountA=AccountB->@Currmbr(“Product”)/AccountB->@Parent(@Currmbr(“Product”)))*AccountA ->@Parent(@Currmbr(“Product”));

This is not working right in all cases and I am sure I am going wrong somewhere. Please let me know your ideas on how can this be achieved.

Well... sort of fixed it.  Apparently my system doesn't like editing images with a color depth of 16bit.  If I convert it down to 8 when I'm converting it from RAW, then it allows me to add layers... Is this normal?

  • I have an issue with a script that places multiple page PDF files...

I'm using a version of "PlaceMultipagePDF.jsx" that I modified to use Media Box when placing the PDF file pages.
That part was easy and works perfectly.
The issue I'm having it that every time it places a PDF page, InDesign pops up a dialog saying that it's Importing pages from "file" and Creating preview with a progress bar. This dialog pops up once for each page, and the UI time it takes to do this is slowing down the import.
So is there any way to turn off this feedback dialog?
Note: I still need to see the dialogs to choose the PDF file and pick the document and page to start placing. I just want the one that displays for each page to not display...

I found this in the Developer KB.
But I can't find any of the functions in the Scripting Ref...
How To: Suppress the progress bar when processing a command.
    Summary
You can suppress progress bar display by turning it off before processing the command.
    Issue
I use the IImportFileCmdData interface and pass kSuppressUI (do not display any UI) as UIFlags. When processing the command, I get a progress bar, which is called "Adobe InDesign Tagged Text Import Filter", whereas I expect no UI.
    Solution
To suppress progress bars you should explicitly turn them off before you process the command (or commands).
    1. Get the interface IProgressBarManager (it's on kAppBoss, which you can get from gSession).
    2. Use IProgressBarManager::SuppressProgressBarDisplay() to turn off the progress bars.
    3 .Process the place command(s).
    4. Turn the progress bars back on when you're done.
In InDesign 2.x and above, you can also use the SuppressProgressBarDisplay class (ProgressBar.h) class to achieve this. In order to use this class you just need to create an instance of the class on the stack as shown here:
    SuppressProgressBarDisplay suppress(kFalse);

  • Issues with running scripts

When I open a SQL script, the button to run it is disabled. The accelerator key also does nothing. If I create a new SQL Worksheet and copy the code over to it, I can run that fine. It just seems to be a problem after an existing file has been opened. Is this normal behavior?
    Vital statistics:
Client - SQL Developer 1.0.0.14 on Mac OS X 10.4.5 - Intel, Instant Client 10.1.0.3 for Mac OS X (basic, JDBC, and SQL Plus packages)
Server - Oracle 10g Express Edition (production) on Ubuntu Linux 5.1

Yep, that did it. Thanks very much! I had not even noticed that control up there. I guess it's a habit from using SQL Navigator thinking that every new window automatically associates with the last-used connection.
