SSRS 2012 Print Error w/ Win 8.1 IE11 (0x80004005)

I'm having an issue printing SSRS 2012 reports from Win 8.1/IE11.  When I print I get "An error occurred trying to render the report. (0x80004005)"  See below for SSRS Log.  This happens when trying to print any reports from this
server on a win 8.1 machine. I've checked on Win8/IE10 and Win7/IE11 and they both work fine.  When I change the "User agent string" in F12/Emulation to IE10 instead of default it also works fine.  These reports are in compatibility mode
by default due to the "Dispaly intranet sites in Compatibility View" being checked by default.  If I uncheck this box the reports will not even run.  They display an error message of "Value cannot be null. Parameter name: String"
which is very similar looking to the error in the log below.
TIA for any help
Tommy
The error log from SSRS is

Hi Joshua.Arenz,
As per my understanding, you configured SSRS 2012 of SharePoint mode, when you click system setting in Central Admin, you got the error message.
According to the error message, the Reporting Services service application is not configured correctly. Please make sure you created service application correctly by following steps:
In SharePoint Central Administration, in the Application Management group, click Manage Service Applications.
In the SharePoint toolbar, click the New button.
In the New menu, click SQL Server Reporting Services Service Application.
In the Create SQL Server Reporting Services Service Application page, enter a name for the application.
In Application Pool section, create a new application pool for the application (recommended). Then select or create a managed account for the application pool.
In the Database Server, you can use the current server or choose a different SQL Server.
In Database Name the default value is ReportingService_<guid>, which is a unique database name. If you type a new value, type a unique value.
In Database Authentication, the default is Windows Authentication.
In the Web Application Association section, select the Web Application to be provisioned for access by the current Reporting Services Service Application.
Click OK.
For more information about Creating a new Reporting Services Service Application, please refer to the following document:

If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

  • SSRS 2012 Subscription Error in Test Environment

    Hi All,
I was trying to set-up Email Subscription for SSRS in my Test Environment using "Reporting Services Configuration Manager" and after providing SMTP server details. I was getting error "Failed to sent Email to [email protected]"
    What could be the reason?
I tried pining SMTP IP address from the Machine where SSRS installed and I was able to ping SMTP Server using CMD ping command.
Thanks Shiven:) If Answer is Helpful, Please Vote

    Hi All,
I found the issue. The IP address of Machine, where SSRS server installed, was not included in to the SMTP relay and that's why I was getting error "Failed
to sent Email to [email protected]".
Once my network team, added IP address, it started working fine.
Another thing I noticed, due to some reason SQL Server Agent was stopped and was not running and one
of my colleagues was trying to create new subscription and was getting error 'The SQL Agent service is not running. This operation requires the SQL Agent service. (rsSchedulerNotResponding)'.
Once I started SQL Server Agent, My colleague was able to create new subscription.

  • Error on the reports with drill-through links on SSRS 2012 SP2 -- Invalid URI: The Uri string is too long

Hi, We are migrating SSRS 2008 R2 reports to SSRS 2012 SP2. (PS. SSRS 2012 SP2 has been applied.) Everything went smooth expect some reports which were using reporting services. These reports have some drilin-through actions and was passing in a huge
xml parameter. I referred to some other posts in which there were also some similar issues like "The Uri string is too long."  but they're different. My reports can be opened and the error only occurred when accessing the drill-through actions.
As I know, Microsoft has provided the fix for the known issue "The Uri string is too long." in sp1 but it looks it can't cover this kind of situation since I have installed the SSRS SP 2. Is there any solution? In addition, there's no such
    issue on SSRS 2008 R2.
    Thanks,
    onizga

    Hi onizga,
According to your description that you are migrating SSRS 2008 R2 reports to SSRS 2012 SP2, after migration you got some error like “The Uri string is too long” which only occurred when accessing the drill-through actions, right?
Usually, the issue can be caused when you try to pass some parameters that cause the URL length to exceed 65,520 characters for a Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services (SSRS 2012), you cannot render the report, and you may receive the following error
    message:
The value of parameter 'param' is not valid. (rsInvalidParameter).Invalid URI: The Uri string is too long.
This is an known issue and already have the hotfix SQL Server 2012 Service Pack1 Cumulative Update 9 (CU9) as you know, you can try to reinstall this hotfix to fixed this issue:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2916827 .Any issue after applying the update, please post it on the following thread or you can submit an feedback:

  • Error while running SSRS 2012 report integrated with SharePoint 2013

    Hi,
Our reporting services environment has SSRS 2012 integrated with SharePoint 2013. The SharePoint 2013 farm has 2 web front ends, 1 app server and a separate server for reporting services i.e SSRS 2012 .
We have created a https web application in SharePoint 2013 and all the SSRS 2012 reports are deployed into a "Report Library" residing in its root site collection.
The simple reports are running well. But there is a report where we have 3 multi-value parameters. On running this report in IE or Chrome, we get the error "Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: The message received from the
server could not be parsed. Common causes for this error are when the response is modified by calls to Response.Write(), response filters, HttpModules, or server trace is enabled. Details: Error parsing near ' <!DOCTYPE html PUB'."
Some of the forums suggested to add the below entry in the web config of the SharePoint web app where the SSRS reports are deployed. We did that too, still the error is appearing. Please can anyone help .
    <appSettings>
    <add key="aspnet:MaxHttpCollectionKeys" value="100000" />
    </appSettings>
    Thanks

    Hi Surendra,
I have tested on my local environment and the issue can be caused by the session time out ,the time out of the report precessing, database timeout,DataSet query execution timeout and so on.
I would like to confirm that the refresh you have mentioned is the page refresh or the report reloading?
Please reference to the setting below to don't limit the timeout values if you got the report reloading:
Point to a report in the library.
Click the down arrow, and select Manage processing options.
In Processing Time-out, select Do not time out report processing or
Limit report processing in seconds if you want to override that value with no time-out or different time-out values.
If you got the session timeout that refresh the page, please reference to the setting in below article:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg492284.aspx#bkmk_session_settings_section
Details information in the article below about the timeout setting for your reference:

    Hi Vichu,
According to your description, you encountered the timeout issue when rendering your report. Right?
In Reporting Services, sometimes this issue happens when rendering big report, and it exceed the default Query Timeout time. Generally, we increase the Query Timeout and Session Timeout so that it will have more time to retrieving data.
In this scenario, since you have done this adjustment and the issue still exists randomly. We suggest you optimize the performance of your report. Please refer to the articles below:

  • SSMS 2014 to SSRS 2012 WMI connection error / Invalid namespace

We have swapped out the default SSRS2012 Windows Authentication with our own FormsAuth custom authentication.
From SSMS2012, I can connect to our reporting server instance via FormsAuth without issue.
From SSM2014, I can't connect to our reporting server instance.  I get this error:
    Invalid namespace (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.RSClient).
How should I troubleshoot / resolve this error?

    Hi scott_m,
Based on my understanding, you come across an Invalid namespace error when connecting to Report Server 2012 from SSMS 2014.
In Reporting Services, the namespace for SSRS 2014 is root\Microsoft\SqlServer\ReportServer\RS_<EncodedInstanceName>\v12\Admin
while the namespace for SSRS 2012 is root\Microsoft\SqlServer\ReportServer\RS_<EncodedInstanceName>\v11\Admin. When using SSMS 2014 for connecting to SSRS 2012, by default, it also access v12 instead of v11 , so we will get Invalid
namespace error. In other words, we can’t connect to SSRS 2012 from SSMS 2014 because of different namespace.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • "Software Usage Metrics initialize failed" error when open Report Manager, after moving ReportServer from SSRS 2008 to SSRS 2012 (Native Mode)

I've asked this question in SQL Server Upgrade forume, I'm asking here as well:
    Your help is highly appreciated!
After migrating ReportServer db from 2008 to 2012, when access Report Manager throughhttp://myserver:80/Reports, I got the error below:
ui!ReportManager_0-3!11d8!02/04/2013-15:19:12:: e ERROR: Software Usage Metrics initialize failed
    The process is below:
•I successfully installed SQL Server 2012 (64-bit) Enterprise as a Native Mode on a server who runs Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 (64-bit).
•I restored "ReportServer2008To2012" and "ReportServer2008To2012TempDB" in SSRS 2012 from the db files backed up in SQL 2008. In SSRS 2008, I have SSRS Model, ad-hoc reports based on model, and I also have canned reports built through BIDS
    report server project.
•I reconfigured both databases' Compatibility level to SQL Server 2012(110) from SQL Server 2008(100).
•I configured SSRS through Reporting Services Configuration Manager as below:
      > I chosen "Use built-in account:" as Service Account
    > In "Database" tab, I selected "Choose an existing report server database" and choose "ReportServer2008To2012" db, I used "Windows Authentication" (my login has the System Administrator priviledge). I got all 4 parts
success: Verifying database sku = Success; Generating rights scripts = Success; Applying connection rights = Success; Setting DSN = Success.
    > I went to "Scale-out Deployment" to check if the initializing succeed, I found nothing there.
Here are what I did from different approaches:
A •I went to "Encryption Keys" and restored the key I backed up from SSRS 2008, after retoring, I got two initialized instances: One is on my current server (SSRS 2012), the other one is from the old server (SSRS 2008).
I deleted the old one(SSRS 2008) through "Remove Server" action and kept the one on my current server(SSRS 2012).
After I restart SSRS service, and tried to connect Report Manager, I got "An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details."
I checked the log file, the error is actually "ERROR: Software Usage Metrics initialize failed"
B •I also tried to "Delete Encrypted Content" and did see the SSRS was initialized through checking it on "Scale-out Deployment", however when I tried to open Report Manager, I got the same error.
Anyone had the same issue? Any solution? Thanks in advance!

grants them temporary administrator access, remotes in and provides credentials to install the active X plugin, or they deploy the active x control.  If this user was able to print and cannot, try deleting the active x control and having them trying to
print again, it should prompt for install.  Using the printer icon from the toolbar uses the active x control which is client side.  This is based on working with the Server 2008 R2 version of SSRS.  I don't see an "actions" button or link in
our reports.  So if they are using the browser to print or they are accessing reports through a custom application with a report viewer control, the issue might be different.

  • Passing rendering format and report parameters in the URL to call a report - SSRS 2012

    Hi,
I've a SSRS 2012 with the integer and multivalue Creation_Years parameter that I need to call directly to export data in the Excel format.
I've tried to use this URL:
http://reportserv/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2fInsurance%2fInstallations_Excel&rs:Format=excel&Creation_Years=2014 but the parameter is required in an interactive manner.
I've tried to set the hidden property for the parameter, I've tried to invert the position of the "rs:Format=excel" string with the "Creation_Years=2014", but the error message doesn't change. Also if I specify the 2015 year, the parameter
isn't overwritten with the 2015 value.
Any helps to me, please? Thanks

Ok, thanks, I note that you have added "rs:Command=Render": looking to the official documentation this string seems optional.
Your url functions but the parameter cannot be a multivalue one. Do you confirm this?
    Thanks
If you want to sent value for multi valued parameter through URL you need to repeat it
    ie like this
    http://reportserv/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?%2fInsurance2fInstallations_Excel&rs:Command=Render&rs:Format=excel&Creation_Years=2014&Creation_Years=2015&Creation_Years=2016...
    also see
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms155391.aspx
If parameter value itself has characetrs like & in it you need to escape them first using javascript

  • Greater than Equal to Functionality when retirivng data from SSAS 2008 cube using SSRS 2012 report not working

I have an SSRS 2012 report and SSAS Cube in 2008. My report criterion requires filtering on measures. So Created measures as dimensions . The report requires >= functionality on the measures. But in the Query designer of
the report there is =, IN, Within Range ,Excluding range , MDX as the operators.
To achieve my goal. I have “From” and “To” as parameters on the numeric dimension. The “To” parameter I have set as internal and setting
the default value of  “TO” .By writing another Dataset query that returns the “MAX”
value and the MAX value returned is a member of the measure converted to dim I confirmed.. So this whole works as >=.The user enters only the “FROM” parameter and the “TO” is set internally. The user can enter any value in the “From” parameter. Any
value that is not even a member. It is a textbox. I cannot use a list of values from the “From” parameter.
But whenever I run the report after entering all the selection criteria
     I keep getting
Error “the restrictions imposed by the constrained flag in the strtomember functions were violated”
I know this means that Max value in the “TO” section is not a member .
    I did try
    : StrToMember("[Fact RCS CV BLAST].[APPRLIMIT ACH].
    &[" & @ToFactRCSCVBLASTAPPRLIMITACH &
    "]", CONSTRAINED) )
But I get “syntax for the “&” is incorrect”
If I use Drop down for the “From” and “To” parameters then it works fine. But that’s not what Business Users need.
Please let me know what the options to make this work. I did use parameters that filter the
Dataset returned it works fine but there is a performance impact.

    Hi,
I think if you use the following method you will be able to compare the members.
    CDbl(StrToMember("[Fact RCS CV BLAST].[APPRLIMIT ACH].&[" + @ToFactRCSCVBLASTAPPRLIMITACH + "]").Member_Name)
As you mentioned that you converted your measures as dimensions, you are having an integer value as the member name. In that case use VBA functions with MDX to do the datatype conversion.
    Take a look into the following MDX written against Adventure Works;
WITH CALCULATED MEMBER [Measures].[Member Name] AS
    CInt
    Right
    CStr
    [Date].[Calendar Year].CURRENTMEMBER.MEMBER_NAME
    ), 4
    SELECT {[Measures].[Sales Amount], [Measures].[Member Name]} ON COLUMNS,
    FILTER
    [Date].[Calendar Year].[Calendar Year].MEMBERS,
    CInt(Right(CStr([Date].[Calendar Year].CURRENTMEMBER.MEMBER_NAME), 4)) >= 2005 AND
    CInt(Right(CStr([Date].[Calendar Year].CURRENTMEMBER.MEMBER_NAME), 4)) <=2008
    } ON ROWS
    FROM [Adventure Works]
I am filtering the Years by using the member names by extracting the Integer portion of the member name and applying data type conversion functions in VBA. So I
Keep in mind that you have to get rid of the CONSTRAINED clause if your business users can enter anything on the SSRS text box.

  • SSRS Exporting causing error with Excel

    Hello,
I would search this but I don't know what key terms to try, but here is my problem. Created a report in Report Builder and see it on SSRS and can run it. I get the data back I need. When I try and export to Excel I get "Excel found unreadable content
in '<report name>.xlsx'. Do you want to recover the contents of this workbook? If you trust the source of this workbook, click Yes." When I click Yes I get a blank document. If I save the document to my computer and open it I get an option to repair
which says "Replaced Part: /xl/worksheets/sheet1.xml part with xml error. Illegal xml character. Line1, column 3344028". I have rebuilt the query too.
Has anyone else seen this, or have a link to a set of solutions I can test?
    This is using SSRS 2012.

I know... I am just doing what I am told. I said the same thing to the person asking for it.
They have no idea what they are asking for.
Run this query to tell you the Average # of Entries you have per PC. BTW my lab has an average of 327! Far more that the 186 listed in the blog post!
    declare @ARP BIGINT
    declare @PCCount BIGINT
    Set @ARP = (select count(*) from dbo.v_GS_INSTALLED_EXECUTABLE)
    Set @PCCount = (Select count(*) from v_GS_COMPUTER_SYSTEM)
    Select
    'Ave Entries per PCs ' + Convert(varchar(250), sum(@ARP/@PCCount+0.001)),
    'Number of Installed EXE entries ' + convert(varchar(250), @arp),
    'Number of pages '+ convert(varchar(250), sum(Round(@arp/80,0)+1)),
    'Number of papper Bundles '+ convert(varchar(250), round(sum(@arp/40000.0),2))
Then you need to send them this blog post along with the detail from the query above.

  • SSRS Report Manager error "Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: An unknown error occurred while processing the request on the server. The status code returned from the server was: 500"

    Hi All,
I am getting error "Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: An unknown error occurred while processing the request on the server. The status code returned from the server was: 500"
in one of my Test Environment when trying to run the SSRS 2012 report from report manager.
Any clue why it is happening.
Thanks Shiven:) If Answer is Helpful, Please Vote

    Hi All,
Upon investigation found that there was no space (0 Byte is available) in E drive where underlying SQL DB is residing.
Once I cleared the space, report started working and above error was not displaying.

  • SSRS 2012: Report Header PrintOnFirstPage-problem after report migration from SSRS 2008

    Hi ,
I developed my report using VS 2008 IDE and the report header property "PrintOnFirstPage" is set to False.
The content of the header are some textboxes and lines that should show only on page number > 1.
This works fine in VS 2008 IDE in preview mode as well as with reports rendered by SSRS 2008 report server.
Recently I migrate&convert the same report to SSRS 2012 I noticed a different rendering behaviour of my report.
So in VS 2010 preview mode, the page headers content (textboxe etc.)  is not visible on first page but the headers space did not colapse as it does in VS 2008 IDE preview mode.
I checked all the report properties but unable to find a solution to my problem.
I was able to reprduce the same behaviour by creating a new report using VS2010 IDE.
    Any ideas are greatly appreciated
    Thanks
    Bodo

    Hi BodoHH,
I have tested on my local enviorment and can't reproduce the issue, the issue can be caused by many factors, it can be caused by the properties setting and can also caused by the visual studio, Detais information below for your reference:
As you mentioned that you have check all the report properties, please also check the tablix,Page Header, report body properties to see if the size are the same with that in the SSRS2008.
Please open this rdl report in the report builder to see if the print layout is correct, if it works fine, the issue can be caused by the visual studio.
Please also try to upload the rdl report to report manager to check the layout.
Please also provide the snaphot of the layout in VS2010 to let us better analysis about the issue.
If you still have any problem, please feel free to ask.
