Status Max Time - Query Limits

Hi all,
We have set the time limit of 7 mins for a particular group. When a user who belongs to that group running a report, it took 8 min 17 s to execute.
In this case we did not get any error for crossing 7min limit.
Does this 7 min includes only the time that query is running on db or will it inlcude the time that BI server is waiting in the queue for the DB and once the Query is executed in DB again the result should be brought back to BI server and paint the result on Answers.
What I would like to know is what exactly the time limit incudes?

did you verify if the queries fired are hitting on cache?
Which might be a reason why they are not being applied.
Check your SQL if the queries are going against cache.

Query Limits - Max Time not working

A Max Time Query Limit has been set for a DB but it never acknowledges it and the query carries on running in the underlying DB even after cancelling the query, and closing the browser.
Has anyone seen this before? The Max Time is enabled, and the connection is always via a shared user.

ERR Driver Status: (Hex 0xBFFA2003) Max Time exceeded before operation completed. (TEK DPO2014)

Hi NI.
I'm trying to aquire signals from an Tektronix DPO2014 oscilloscope using Labview SignalExpress.
I have downloaded and installed the appropriate driver (at least I think )) : tkdpo2k using NI download station.
I run an ethernet connection and I do see the device in MAX, however im not quite sure if I have configured the IVI driver sessions correctly.
Anyway, when I open Signal Express, and select "IVI scope aquire" I can select my device under "resource descriptor" and the appropriate driver under "Instrument driver". I then turn on my Oscilloscope, tune in the machines tachogenerator, which is the signal the oscilloscope is to measure, and then select "autosetup" The sinosoidal waweform shows up on the oscilloscope and in SignalExpress, it is only done once. I then try and run the program and the error message accurs:
Timeout.
<ERR>Driver Status: (Hex 0xBFFA2003) Max Time exceeded before operation completed.
Is the problem regarding problems with triggertime or write/read problems with the TCP/IP connection?
What can I do to fix this problem?

How are you communicating? GPIB? Are you sure you have the correct address. Can you send an IDN command with MAX? Does MAX see the instrument?

Query to group min and max times

Can anyone please tell me how to write the followinf query?

OBIEE 11G - Max Time Parameter on the RPD IS NOT WORKING

Our OBIEE 11.1.1.7.1 cluster environment (2 nodes) has been setup on the repository to time out the queries if they run for more than 5 minutes. The requirement is if the query takes longer than 5 mins the query to the database should be cancelled on OBIEE server.
We are able to set up the time out limit (Max Time = 5 min / Max Time Status = Eabled) in the RPD for all application roles and all db connections, however when the BI Server shows the long-running in RUNNING status on OBIEE Administrator sessions screen sometimes for more than 15 hours or until it finishes. When monitoring the SQL Statements on Oracle GRID I noticed that most of the queries are being executed in the database for no longer than 5 minutes, so most of the time spent on the session is not related to the query execution but another processing that happens on on the bi server.
As a result, the BI queries are being accumulated on the queued or waiting for the parent, so users are getting dashboard hanging issues.
Is there anything missing on the setup to make sure the long-running queries (> 5 min) will be cancelled automatically by the BI Server?

Max time is not triggered

Hi All,
Im using initialization block for assigning the group dynamically for users login through external table. Same groups are created in rpd security and max time has been limited to 1 minute. But when i execute query from obiee answer, query is running beyond 1 minute. How to overcome this ? Please help

Is it possible to submit a list item and at same time query/search the results if parameters are matched.
Example - user logon to site enter search parameters and hit submit button. Once done parameters gets saved in list and shows search results on page. I have been asked to do this with
SP designer and InfoPath doesn’t work due items limits.

may i ask if you need,
when user account click the login button, it will be authenticate the user and then it will show search result page?
may i know how the keyword of words to be put? is it together with the user account box, password and keyword?
or it will be like, after user authenticate, it will redirect to search page, so that user may use the search page to input the keyword?

Active Dataguard switchover puts new standby in real time query

Hi Gurus,
If using Active Dataguard ,after swicthover/failover using dg broker and observer does sthe new standby will be put in real time query mode(ADG) or manually have to open the db in read only mode.

Max Time Out of JDBC adapter?

Hi Experts,
In one of my scenario i need to get the acknowledgement after the records have been inserted in the database. Can i increase the timeout of JDBC channel in case of synchronous scenario ?
Or else how can i get the acknowledgement if the data to be inserted is huge (Inserting 1 million records) and takes 30 min to 1 hour time.

Hi,
You can increase the timeout in case of synchronous scenario but is never recomended to do so. 30 minutes to 1hour is too much time.
You need to change your scenario from Sync to Async. What you can do is create a temp table wihich will update the status each time after all the rows get inserted in database.
Have another JDBC Sender chanel which will keep querying the temp table to see if the new records are inserted or not and based on that you can send response back to the Calling System.

Max heap size limits

I've been looking around for information on the max heap size limits on Sun's JVMs but can't seem to find any information. Just by testing, it seems like the max heap size for Windows 2000 can vary from 1.3G to 1.6G depending upon the machine (JDK 1.4). Does anybody know where I could find actual documentation that describes the limits for Sun's VMs on Windows (2000 and Advanced Server), Linux, and Solaris? I'm about to file this as a documentation bug against the JDK.

There was an older thread in the forums that had some info on this - my quick search failed to locate it, ypu might want to spend some time looking. The basic problem is memory space fragmentation by the OS, where the OS locates items in memory and effectively constrains heap growth to the unfragmented area that the heap starts in.While there may be more "unused" memory, it's not contiguous. There is also some info in MS's MSDN data regarding this condition, with information on the various OS's. I think Linux has a similar "condition".

SQL Command to select MAX(date) & Max(time)

My am having a really hard time getting a sql command to return data with the max(date) & max(time) combination. I think I need a sub query but can not figure it out. I have looked all over the internet but still don't understand it. Below is my command which returns the max date & max time but they are not from the same row of data. Please help.

Progress does not support the DATEADD function. Waht if I forget the number is time and look at it just as a number. Here is my data and what I have tried (again I don't understand the multiple select concept yet).

There was a problem connecting to the server "Max Time Capsule"

Disclaimer: Previously posted here (Ask Different) and similar to this.
I'm trying to use my MBP inside and outside my office, and having it backup to my 2TB Time Capsule when on its wireless network, or defer backups when not on the Time Capsule's wireless network.
Unfortunately, if I've been on a different wireless network for a few hours worth of backup attempts, bringing the machine back onto the Time Capsule's wireless network doesn't resume backups, and Time Machine never recovers. I can select the disk as a backup drive in the Time Machine preferences, but the disk remains unavailable from the Finder, and any backup attempts yield the standard:

My WiFi connection is through the same Time Capsule that hosts the backup drive, and its name and IP address have decidedly not changed. The only thing that seems to help is restarting the Time Capsule, but that is an inconvenient workaround at best.
The problem sounds similar to Backup Disk Not Available, but the answers to that question are either to restart or change the disk name or turn off the 5 GHz network (which didn't help). I also looked at /Library/Preferences/com.apple.TimeCapsule.plist, but found nothing that seemed relevant.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My MBP is running OS X 10.7.5, and the Time Capsule firmware is 7.6.1.

There was a problem connecting to the server "Airport Time Capsule".
The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again.
I still have internet connection, and have tried other suggestions across internet but really the only fix has been to power cycle the ATC. This unfortunately is only a temporary remedy for a day or so until it returns.
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

You can check the ODs activation logs in ODs batch montior >> click on taht job >>> job log
for this first you check in sm37 how many jobs are running if there are many otehr long running jobs then . the ODs activation will happen very slowly as the system is overloaded .. due to the long running jobs ..this causes the poor performance of system ..
for checking the performance of system .. you first check the lock waits in ST04..and check wether they are progressing or nt ..
check sm66 .. for the no of process running on system ..
check st22 >> for short dumps ..
check Os07> to check the cpu idle tiem if its less tehn 20% . then it means the cpu is overlaoded .
check sm21 ...
check the table space avilable in st04..
see if the system is overlaoded then the ODS wont get enough work process to create the backgorund jobs for that like(Bi_BCTL*)..jobs .the updation will happen but very slowly ..
in this case you can kill few long running jobs which are not important .. and kill few ODs activations also ..
Dont run 23 ODs activation all at a time .. run some of them at a time ..
And as for checking the key points for data loading is check st22,cehck job in R/3 , check sm58 for trfc,check sm59 for Rfc connections
