2. now teradata data can be only extracted to bw or also to r/3?
3.and after extracting the entire historic data where can i store?is it in 1infocube or store in different cubes related to modules?

I have some documents on extraction but I have not been able to step through successfully.
Can you step me through the process with a simple example:
1. identify an object(table?) on R3; provide typical tcode to see the data in this source
2. steps see the data in this R3 table
3. steps to create an extractor to pull the data we saw in step 2.
4. Steps to go through so that I can see this data in BW
I will appreciate a real example which will help clarify some difficulties I have in extracting data from R3 to BW.

1. To see data in the extractor, activate the data sources first and then execute RSA3. For LO extractors, in addition to activating the data sources, fill the set up tables and set the delta process and then execute RSA3.
2. To view data in source tables, you must know the source tables. The best way to find out the source table from where the extractor picks up data, go to help;sap.com - BI content. In the help pages, you will find the source tablles. Once you get the source tables, go to Se16, type the table name and execute. You wil see the data.
3. If you wish to create extractor from the source table, go to RSO2 ( O as orange), choose which data source you wish to create ( master data, texts, hierarchies, transaction data). The steps are explained in the following document. Pl follow the link:

Genric Extraction Steps:
1) In R/3 side Create a Data source by use of RSO2 tcode
Select datasource type here, Give datasource name click create button
2) Specify description
Specify your table name
Choose the Application Component(like SD, MM, PP)
Click SAVE it takes to next screen
3) Choose the fields for visible and hidden
SAVE it.
Your datasource has been created
4) In RSA3 (Extract Checker) you can check your datasource it contains data or not
IN BW SIDE
1) First Replicate your datasource
2) Create InfoArea--> Info objects and all
3) Create InfoSource and assign this R/3 Datasource
4) Create info package to load data.
LO EXTRACTION STEPS

1) In R/3 side, First delete the setup table (LBWG)
2) RSA5 --> transfer datasource
3) RSA6 --> Verify transferred datasource available or not
4) LBWE --> Maintain datasource
5) OLI*BW --> Fill setup table
6) RSA3 --> Extract checker
In BW side
1) Replicate datasorce
2) Asssign Infosource , activate datasource
3) Create infopackage to load data

Extracting data from Z-table from SAP R/3 to BW

Hi all
I want to extract data from a Z-table from SAP R/3 system to Bw system. Currently I am on BW 3.5. Since it is a Z table I dont have a standard extractor for it & I dont knw how to create it. Can anyone provide me with the step-by-step documentation of how to extract data from a non standard SAP table????

You need to create Generic Datasource on the Z-Table you want to get data from
Go to RSO2 transaction to create generic datasource .
You need to give technical name of datasource under datasource type you want and click on create. Then you can give descrption and Application component under which u want see the datasource,
enter the z table name under view/ table and save.
here you can click on check boxes to make fields hidden or selection fields.

Generate Insert Statement Script to Extract Data from Table in Oracle 7i

Hi all, I have an old Oracle legacy system that is running for over 15 years.Every now and then we need to extract data from this table@ ORacle 7i to be imported back to Oracle 10G.
My thoughts are to create a script of Insert statements in oracle 7 and that to be deployed back to Oracle 10G.
I found this scripts in Google and not sure how exactly this works.Any explanation on thsi scripts , would be greatly appreciated.I find this scripst may help to generate a set of insert statements from that table to the latest table at 10G.

How to extract data from a remote system

Hi,
I want to extract data from another system and map it with a target table in my local machine. what is the procedure to do that?
I tried to create another module specifying location of that remote system I could extract the table but when I am mapping with the target table I am getting this error
ORA-04052: error occurred when looking up remote object [email protected]@ORACLE_LOCATION_UBN_15
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
ORA-02063: preceding line from UBNDW@ORACLE_LOCATION_UBN_15
here ORACLE_LOCATION_UBN_15 is the location and UBNDW is the SID for that system
SCOTT is the username I have provided while creating the module

Can anybody tell me, step by step, how to extract data from ODS to a non-SAP system?
Is it possible to do it without programming effort? And is there volume limits for this kind of extraction?

You can look at it from the concept of a BADI / Infospoke
Extract the data from the ODS to a Flat file / RDBMS using an infospoke. I am not sure as to how the infospoke loads data into the RDBMS ( did it very long ago ) but then you can push it into an RDBMS and I am sure it will be system neutral.

Where do you think the financial reports get their data from? Financial Reports pull data from data sources such as Essbase, HFM.

Error while extracting data from essbase

Hi All,
Now I'm tring to extract data from essbase by ODI, and at the sametime, I need to do some transformations, such as join with other relational tables or flat files to get more information about metadata. But unfortunately, once I add join into the interface, an error occurs. And it works fine if I extract directly (with no joins).
Is there any other way except using staging table? Our data vloume is large, using staging table will waste lots of storages.

The adaptor needs to extract the data first.

Error while extracting data from CRM

Dear all,
I have used some standard and generic datasources to extract data from CRM. These were working fine for more than a year and are scheduled in Process chains. For the past few days I am getting Caller 09 error as shown below, only for the generic datasources. I have checked the connection,replicated the datasources and activated them, reinitialized and have tried all the solutions that were posted earlier, but still the process chain fails. When I execute the process chain for generic datasources manually, it is working fine.
When I tried in RSA3 for both standard and generic datasources in CRM with update mode D, I get a message 'Error occured during the extraction',
Kindly suggest what can be the problem.

How you remove the error depends on the error message.
Note
If the source system is a Client Workstation, then it is possible that the file that you wanted to load was being edited at the time of the data request. Make sure that the file is in the specified directory, that it is not being processed at the moment, and restart the request.

Can any one tell me can I extract data from R/3 to BW usinf an RFC. My project has an implementation of RFC to bring the data from R/3 to BW and execute some functions on it.

I extracted data from ODS objects into CSV files through Open Hub Destination before, but need to know how to send same ODS data from BI to PI in XML format...

just an idea:
Maybe one way could be creating xml data via simple transformation or standard transformation in sap bw. After maybe there could create an inbound message in xi for getting the data.
I never done it, but I thought this could be a practice?
Hope there will be better comments for that problem, soon!
