Strictly for ERP gurus

Hi Oracle ERP guru,
Am going to administer(or better still do a QA) an oracle SAP database system and i need help on the following.
1. I need to know of the standards expected from an Oracle SAP database administrator. are there any documentation on these standards?
2. Is there any need for multiplexing the control files?
I traced 3 different control files from the initilaization parameters. On taking a close look at them, i found out the are located on the same disk in different folders.
3. what do i do to the datafiles?
They are located on the same disk though the disk is very large.
4. what should i be looking out for WRT performance tuning?
I would appreciate any other information that would be helpfull.
Thank you in advance.
Tolu

Well, I don't think that all questions are only for ERP gurus ...
Question 2 is not only for an Oracle SAP database: you've got an answer from Oracle Administration Guide: Oracle strongly recommends you use at least two control
files stored on separate physical disk drives for each database. .
Same for question 3:
Place Datafiles Appropriately
Tablespace location is determined by the physical location
of the datafiles that constitute that tablespace. Use the
hardware resources of your computer appropriately.
For example, if several disk drives are available to store
the database, consider placing potentially contending
datafiles on separate disks. This way, when users query
information, both disk drives can work simultaneously,
retrieving data at the same time.
See Also:
Oracle Database Performance Tuning Guide for information
about I/O and the placement of datafiles
Store Datafiles Separate from Redo Log Files
Datafiles should not be stored on the same disk drive that
stores the database redo log files. If the datafiles and
redo log files are stored on the same disk drive and that
disk drive fails, the files cannot be used in your
database recovery procedures.
If you multiplex your redo log files, then the likelihood
of losing all of your redo log files is low, so you can
store datafiles on the same drive as some redo log files.Message was edited by:

  • Follow-up Activities for ERP Order (ERP_H)

    Hello,
is it possible to create follow-up activities for documents which are in ERP (not CRM).
For example for the quotations and sales orders which are visible in CRM using component ERP_H?
Is anybody using such a scenario of CRM activities for ERP quotations / orders?
    Thanks a lot
    best regards
    Manfred

    Hi Manfred,
It is possible to create follow-up activities for documents which are in ERP (not CRM) like the ERP Sales Order as a Standard functionality, meaning the Activities in CRM can be created as a follow up document to ERP sales order.
Assign the Channel Interaction Center WebClient to the transaction type (Activities) in SPRO and you will see the follow up activity to the ERP Sales order
Is anybody using such a scenario of CRM activities for ERP quotations / orders?
--> We have a scenario to create an activity from ERP order. I assigned the channel as mentioned above and I can see the follow up activity to ERP sales Order.
    Hope this helps.

  • E-Commerce 5.0 for ERP and re-using a Quote

We have an E-Commerce 5.0 for ERP environment that has been up and running for three years now. Everything is working great and we've made many custom enhancements through the years, but there is one that business is asking for that I've not been able to tackle yet, so I'd thought it best to get some advice.
If you are familiar with E-Commerce 5.0 for ERP you should have noticed that a Quote can only be referenced (used) by an Order one time. After that has occured, the next time you access the Quote on the B2B site, the "Order Quote" button is greyed-out. This appears to be standard functionality. The main issue is the fact that there is no way to change the order quantity before you press the "Order Quote" button. It is not a text field.
On the contrary, however, when creating a Quote within the ERP system (ECC6), one can reference (use) the Quote many times in the creation of Orders assuming you are not referencing the complete line quantity.
What is going on? Where should I start looking on how to adjust the "web" quote to allow for this re-use? Could it be as simple as changing the qty field from a label to a text box, which would allow the customer to change the value?
Any advice or ideas are welcome!
    Thanks

If anyone knows how to get a user-entered custom value from the item level to a custom java class, please let me know.
I'm still looking into how to extend the quote and allow for the re-use of it, if all the quantity on the line item has not been exhausted.
I can easily add a custom field to the header of a .jsp and access that user entered value by coding against the requestParser.
    Example: Parameter xxx = requestParser.getParameter("customerHeaderParm");
But, when I add a customer parameter to the item level of the .jsp, I cannot leverage the same to code and get at the user entered value. The value comes back as null.
The two files I am working with are as follows: orderstatusdetail.jsp and Z_DocumentStatusOrderQuotAction, which is an extension of the standard class, DocumentStatusOrderQuotAction.
I am working with the requestParser within the ActionForward isaPerform() method of Z_DocumentStatusOrderQuotAction. I need to get to those item level values BEFORE the order is created from the quotation.

I have seen other posts with regard to E-Commerce and a CRM backend but nothing related to the latest version of E-Commerce 5.0 for ERP Right now we are getting the following ‘Runtime Errors’:

  • Trying to determine if we need the Java stack for ERP 6.0 upgrade

An issue we have regarding our research of a potential ERP upgrade to 6.0 has to do with the potential requirement to add the Java stack to the WAS engine that support our ERP.  This appears significant due to the impact on infrastructure requirements and operational support.  Based on the master guide for ERP 6.0, it appears that the following components would require the Java stack or usage type AS-Java:
    - Biller Direct 6.0
    - Learning Solution LSO (CP) 600
    - ESS/MSS -- XSS 6.0
    - Extended E-selling Components, XECO 5.0
    - Enterprise Portal Content for Business Packages
    - XI Content, Elster 2.0
Is this the complete list?  Will other components of ERP or ehp's  require the Java stack in the future?  How likely is it that the Java stack will become a requirement for us to support ERP?
    Thanks,
    Thomas

Yes, this is correct if Java Stack is already install but I understand from the question that they do not have Java installed already so if they plan to go to ECC 6.0 ABAP Stack they won´t need to install Java stack before or after upgrade.
They only need to do it´s upgrade to Abap stack to ECC 6.0 and in fact if actual 4.7 is non unicode they won´t need to make it unicode before or after either, just when installing ECC 6.0 SR3 then Unicode is the only way to intall it.

    Dear Experts,
When we create Inbound Delivery in ERP, it is getting distributed.
But the IBD is not created in EWM.
We checked in SLG1 and the deliveries were failed in the queue.
The error message says "No business partner found for ERP partner EWM_TEST (role:LF)".
We have maintained Business partner  and IT type = CRM004 in Identification Tab.
Still, no idea how we can solve this issue.
Please suggest with your valuable inputs.

  • Public IP address for ERP system

    Hi,
A SAP BC consultant gives me a small system landscape for ERP 6.0 and its info. as following:
      a. 1 Sol Man system, 1 ERP system for DEV, 1 ERP system for PRO.
      b. The Sol Man Server is for the ENTIRE SAP TECHNICAL LANDSCAPE in the single company.
      c. The entire SAP Landscape needs to be on a different SUBNET on a different Gigabit switch for optimum performance. The broadcast between 2 subnets will be handled via a router.
      d. A router with VPN Capabilities and 2-3 static public IP addresses (THIS IS A MUST).
I don't know why I need 2-3 static public IP addresses if I don't public anything to Internet. Somebody tell me why?

  • SAP HANA Live Views for ERP

    Hi Experts,
We are planning to implement SAP HANA Live for ERP operational reporting, I saw there are 786 views delivered with this which includes -
    1) Query views
    2) Reuse Views
    3) Private Views
Query views always contains the word "Query" at the end of the view name which helps in identifying it but I am unable to distinguish between reuse and private views. Can anyone tell me how do we distinguish whether a view is a reuse view or a private view?
    Thanks in anticipation.
    Regards,
    Victor

    Hi Ramakrishnan
How do you get access to the 'VDM properties' Tab ?
I don't have it on my own HANA Studio.
I guess this tab is also the good one to assign a view to the proper product/ module hierarchy in the HANA Live Browzer.
Currently, all my custom view fall into the "N/A - Undefined" section, which is highly frustrating !
Is this view dedicated to SAP developpers?
Otherwise do you know how to get access to it.
    Thanks.
    Best Regards

  • New to Internet Sales for ERP - Few basic questions.

    Hi,
We are going to implement Internet Sales for ERP and I have some questions.
    1) Is Product Catalog Mandatory for implementing Internet Sales for ERP / R3?
    2) We are already using MDM for catalog and we are not the Product Catalog module in R3. Will there be a problem implementing MDM into ISA? Has anyone implemented ISA with MDM as product catalog?
    3) We are planning to make it an extra-net application; what is the best architecture placement of the ISA server? Should we have it in DMZ or outside DMZ. What is the best approach among option a and b?
    a) Web Browser (Internet) -- External Firewall -- Webserver + ISA server -- Internal Firewall -- ERP
    b) Web Browser (Internet) -- External Firewall -- Webserver -- Internal Firewall -- ISA server + ERP
    Please Enlighten.
    Thanks,
    Deepak

    Hello Deepak,
    1) Is Product Catalog Mandatory for implementing Internet Sales for ERP / R3?
Catalog is an independent piece of feature and integrated to the basket (or the selling process). You can hide the internal catalog by a switch in the Shopadmin XCM administration - Catalog tab._But_ you may still need a catalog (internal) for reading variant data. However, no replication is required.
    2) We are already using MDM for catalog and we are not the Product Catalog module in R3. Will there be a problem implementing MDM into ISA? Has anyone implemented ISA with MDM as product catalog?
ISA works with external catalogs with ease. All you need is to make use of the Open catalog Interface (OCI) feature. After all, OCI is a SAP technology, and all its products must be capable of understanding it. Isn't it? SAP MDM catalog is OCI enabled.
    (b)
    Please Enlighten.

  • Post Installation Steps for ERP add-on Inventory Manager 4.0

    Hi,
I need to confirm what are the post-installation activities we must to perfom for ERP Add-on (Inventory Manager 4.0), besides de BC Activation. I did not find any information regarding the post installation steps for the ERP Add-on of Inventory Manager 4.0 (the installation guide for IM 4.0 on service marketplace does not remark the steps only explain the theorical part of the installation)... And we need to confirm if the steps are the same of Inventory Manager 3.2 Add-on or we must do an additional step?
    Best Regards,
    MC
    Stephen Streeter Manju Venkatesha

    Yeah...of course...
    I forgot to specify it.
I install the first ERP 2005 SR2 on Oracle 10.2.0.2 and the other have to be installed on the same version of DB.
    All installation are not MCOD.
This mean every installation has its own DB with different SID for every installation.
And of course I have at least doubled the space required by installer. Taken from sap notes the required space for ERP 2005 SR2 is about 90 GB.
The total space of mount point is about 500 GB....
    Thanks

  • Download EHP4 for ERP 6.0 using Optimizer

We're trying to download EHP4 for ERP 6.0 uisng Solution Manager
optimizer. We've reviewed EHP4 master guide but very confused as how to
download through Solution Manager. For instance, our business team
asked us to install SRM server and FSCM of EHP4 for ERP 6.0. When we go
through optimizer and find FSCM uses is grayed out and SRM server is
    not even there.
    Questions:
    1. How to enable grayed out components in optimizer so we can download?
    2. Are all those components such as SRM server installed on ECC server,
or should be on other servers such as SRM ?
    Thanks very much!

    EHP4 is still in RampUp.
    > 1. How to enable grayed out components in optimizer so we can download?
Are they available for the user (S-User) in the service marketplace? You can check by trying to download the stack from there instead of SolMan.

This depends on your local setup - both are possible.

  • Profiles for ERP Sales Order

    Dear experts,
I'm trying to configure our CRM 2007 system (upgraded from CRM 4.0) in order to call ERP Sales Order functions from the the new CRM WebClient UI. The ERP background system is ECC 5.0.
    Issue Description:
In standard, we should have 2 default profiles for ERP Sales Orders: DEFAULT and SALESPRO but I can't see them. I think those entries will allow us to call some ERP Sales Order functions from CRM. When I try to recreate them manually, a short dump occurs.
    Steps for reconstruction:
    1. CRM > Interaction Center WebClient > Business Transaction > ERP Sales Order > Define Profiles for ERP Sales Order
    2. Select SALESPRO and double-click on Assign Document Types to ERP profiles in the left menu
    3. Select New Entries and select SALESPRO for the ERP Sales Order Profile
    4. Select a Document Type using the F4 search. Short dump occurs and can be analysed in the ECC system (SLS_LORD_GET_VALUES_AUART)
Do you have any idea why this short dump occurs?
    Thanks in advance
    Stephanie

    Hi,
see ERP Sales Transaction in CRM 2007 for details.
They say that you can connect only a ECC6.0 to CRM, not any older versions.
Unfortunately I cannot check this statement.

  • Ecommerce for ERP.......?

Can someone provide me some more information on the ECommerce for ERP package that SAP has available?  Like how to install it and what components are needed?  I do know that it does require the "java stack" since it is java based.

  • NWBC 3.0: Only HTML for ERP 6 EHP4?

Hello Folks. Can't find a forum for NWBC - hope this one is fine. Looking at implementing NBWC 3.0 for a customer. Somewhat confused about something. Browsed, I guess, 20 notes and docs but still no definitive answer. Please help if you can.
Seems NWBC 3.0 will run only HTML for ERP 6.0 - even with EHP4.  It will run GUI for Windows only as from EHP5.  Are these statements true?
    Thanks,
    Alan.

    Hi alan,
The thing is SAPGUI is needed when you are going to work with NWBC for Desktop.
Because NWBC for Desktop is for power users and not for light users. I mean who uses SAP applications tremendously in day to day life when compared to a normal user who will use once or twice or not frequently.
But i get some problems. I am also on the same NWBC 3.0 with EHP5.0 installed.
But the problem is I am not getting the Desktop search and other features like mentioned in the following youtube link:
Particularly the first screen in the following link:
Please let me know, whether you get all these features in your screen or how to get these features.
Are all these features supported by NWBC as plug-ins or it is a BSP, WDA like application.
    Best Regards,
    Suresh
