Sub Contract (operations) Cost Capturing in Product cost

Hi Guys,
I have a problem in  cost capturing for sub contract opertaions.
Scenario is : I am working on product Costing. I want to caputure the cost of various product for various opeations, this I achived through activty type. But my problem is some of operations (for making the product) has been given to outsourcing through open PO and the payment to contractor is paying by unit rate(price rates are different for different operations).
Could anybody explain me the process or settings required to capture the cost of the product which my client is paying to outsource contractor.
Regards
Srinivas

Hi,
1. Please define that particular activity as external operation in routing
2. Flag it as subcontracting
3. Assign a Material Info record to this operation.  Because the cost is picked up from Material info record in this scenario.
Just talk to your PP folks.  They will definitely will guide you in Routing settings in this regard
Please award points suitably
Best Regards

  • Sub-contracting operation.

Hi, we have one sub-contracting operation in between in-house production order operations. For sub-contracting operation only the in-process semi finished material which is the result of previous operation will be sent to vendor. While I am trying to convert pr into po, gives the message that u201Cno component assignedu201D. Please note that no roh will be sent to vendor except that previous operation completed material for which we do not do gr for the previous operation. Please advise how to handle this. Thank you.

    HI Raju,
    Subcontracting: Operation Wise:
    10, 20 & 30 total 3 operations. 10& 30 are internal, i.e., in-house and Operation 20 is External i.e. sending material for external processing u2013 subcontracting
The control key PP02 meant for external processing is to be allocated to the operation 20 in the routing.
Once you allocate PP02, in the operation detail screen Activate Subcontracting, then system will ask for the Purchase info record no.
(Create Purchase Info Record TC: ME11, Give Details of Vendor, Purchase Organization, Plant and Select Subcontracting Press ENTER, maintain the required data)
    Next MD61, MD02, MD04. Then after confirm Operation 10,
Then external processing has to be started.
Go to operation overview in the prod order, choose operation 20 & double click.
Get the Purchase Requisition number from the external processing tab. Then convert into Purchase Order. (Using TC: ME58)
Send the Material to the Subcontractor using TC: ME2O or TC: MB1B with Movement Type: 541.
Then receive Material from Subcontracting Vendor by using TC: MIGO with Movement Type: 101.
(Goods Receipt with Reference to Purchase Order)
    Then confirm Operation 20 &
Continue with Operation 30, Confirm Operation 30. Do GR by TC: MB31 Movement Type: 101.

  • Allocation of cost from service cost center  to production cost center

    Dear sir ,
Will I use to distribute the cost from service department to production department  and that cost centers also using for activity planing will get currect result in product costing ?

    Hello,
Can you clarify what you want to do ?
Allocation of cost from service cost centers to production cost centers can be done with the help of Assessment / Distribution cycles and you can do a activity planning using the same costs as well. The steps for activity planning would be as under:
    1. Create primary cost planning in the service and production cost centers (KP06)
    2. Create activity planning in the production cost centers (KP26) without any rate
    3. Run assessment / distribution cycles to transfer cost from the service cost centers to production cost centers (KSUB / KSVB), in case you are not transferring based on activity quantity then also do SKF planning in KP46
    4. Run plan cost splitting in case you have more then one activity type (do config for splitting structure beforehand) (KSS4)
    5.  Calculate Plan price for the production cost center activity types (KSPI)

    Hi frnds,
I'm facing problem related with GL Account.
Dears I'm going to create Automatic Purchase Requsition for material which is manufactured Externally by Vendor but the RAW Material is given by us means I want to create Sub contracting PO and only paid service prices for manufacturing the material to vendor. For this
    1. I create the PIR through TCODE ME11 with material
    2. Maintain the PIR in Master Ricepe with Cost element.
    3. Create Process Order & PR is generated but
When I trying to convert PR to PO, it show Error message that the assign GL Account is not correct  at
    the field Account Assignment.
I want to know at Account Assignment what GL Acc. will come to enter.

    Hi,
Hope the Acct *** Cat in the PR is F  - Order Assigned PR.
    pls try this out.
    1. In OLME , check the Acct Modification key - say , VBR for the Acct *** Cat - F  (Order)
    2. In OBYC , pls check whether the Cost Element (say,400000) you have entered in master recipe is
mapped against - GBB - VBR - Valuation Class Combination.
Also ,pls let us know the Cost Element that you have entered in Master Recipe.

  • Costing Report summarized production cost by Finished Goods Material

    Dear Expert,
I am looking for a report that can summarized the production cost in production order by Finished Goods Material Number.
or a report that can show me the cost components incurred related to a Finished Goods Material.
Can any expert enlighten me? please help.
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi
I would recommend the product drilldown reports in KKO0...
For this you will have to do settings in OKN0 (Asisgn a Cost Comp Structure and specify the Product Group)
After this, execute KKRV to collect the summarized data and then you can use KKO0 reports
It gives cost of production as per the Cost Comp Str and also the product no, product group, Prod Order etc

  • Target Cost Verion in Product Cost

    Hi,
I'm not able to create Target Cost Version (1,2,3.....) in variance Calculation pertaining to Product Costing.
    I'm getting this message:
Version 1000 1 not intended to be used as the target cost version
    Message no. KQ243
    Diagnosis
The specified target cost version has not been flagged in central version maintenance as suitable for variance calculation.
    Procedure
    1. Check the entries in the central version table.
    2. If appropriate, flag the version as suitable for variance calculation.
    Please help & guide urgently.

    [email protected]

Try running a variance analysis, and see if it civd you an error message. typically this occurs when a SCE estimate was created after the process/production order was created. So check the dates of the two orders that you have, and compare with the date of the SCE CREATION.

  • Issue Relating to Power Cost in Daily Product Costing

    Hi,
We are doing daily product costing. Here we want to allocate the power units of service to production cost centers proportionately on daily basis. Can anyone tell me is there any option in SAP and we need to go for development.

    hi,
Power usage or cost can be apportioned only monthly wise not possible on daily basis. U can run the distribution or assessment cycle only for month wise, but not on daily basis.

  • Raw Material Costing with Overhead, Product Cost Planning

    Hi,
I have an issue applying overhead to purchased raw materials. We need to apply this overhead for only a certain materials. So, I have defined a overhead key/overhead Group, and assigned the group in the material master of the raw material. The overhead is 2% freight on raw material costs.
In the std.costing variant, I have assigned the costing sheet under Overhead on material components tab of the corresponding valuation variant. I have also included the Freight OH in the cost component structure.
However, when I run the costing with CK11N for the raw material, it is showing only the raw material cost, not the overhead.
    What could be the problem?
    I appreciate your help.
    Thanks,
    Ram

Is the overhead rate a percentage type or quantity based?
Have you maintained both actual and plan rates (1 & 2) under define % based OH rates or Qty based OH rates accordingly?
Does the validity date (in define OH rates )cover the date of costing?
Is the Costing sheet assigned to the valuation variant at plant level?
Is the OH base in the costing sheet includes the cost element of the raw material?

  • Planning for sub-contracted operations

Hi, Fininsh product X needs A,B,C raw materials to manufacture it 3 operations. operation1 needs material A, Operation2 needs material B, which is exernal operation and material B needs to send to sub-contractor to use while manufacturing and operation 3 needs material C to manufacture in-house. now we want to run mrp to plan material B also even though it is externaloperation. question is what the settings req for material B to plan and monitor the stock at our premises and vendor premises? how to issue material B to vendor? pls guide.

    Hi,
    As I understand:
MaterialB is assigned to operation 0020 and subcontractor sends it to you. If materialB is produced by the subcontractor, certainly it has some components from which it is produced.
I mean: subcontractor produce materialB from materialB*
    1.
In this case you have to create (CS01) a BOM where:
    header: materialB
    children: materialB*
    2. You also have to maintain procurement key F and special procurement key 30 for materialB (MM02, MRP2 view)
    3. If you maintain the operation of materialB with the correct control key (PP03 in standard system), SAP will generate a PurReq at the moment you save your released PrdOrd.
By converting the the PurReq to PO you will see that the PO has materialB* in its component list that has to be provided to the vendor (you can do conversion in MD04 or via ME57/ME58 or ME59 based on your settings).
So, you have two (at least two) part number: materialB and materialB* and you also have to maintain your routing (CA02) properly.
    http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/92/91a809a9d511d189090000e8323492/frameset.htm
If you do not want to mainatin two part numbers (like materialB and materialB*) you can create a recursive BOM where both header part and children part is materialB.
(using split valuation you can make difference between materialB processed by subcontractor and not processed by subcontractor)

  • Inspection of sub contracted operation

    Hi All,
    I have the followin scenario..
We have 4 operations to be performed on the material. Say A,B,C & D.. Out of this 3rd operation (i.e.C) will be subcontracted after completing A & B in house. The 3rd operation is to be inspected at sub-contractors place before bringing it back to Plant for final operation- D.. Can some one explain how to go abt this via production order with the required settings starting from Matl master..

    hi,
As per your requirement i hope  system will create purchase order for the subcontract operation, while creating the purchase order itself sytem will create the inspection lot (source inspection) mannually or as per backround job setting
QI07 is the transaction mannually create source inspection lot
based on the purchase order reference system will create inspection lot and u can analysis the material of vendor location stock, once production process is completed u can receive the goods againts the subcontract purchase order operation at tht time u can decide whether system has to create inspection lot again or with the reference of source inspection lot u can receive the goods this can be controlled in Quality info record QI06
Activate the inspection type 0101 GR model inspection and 01 inspection type againts PO  in the material master

  • How to calculate or capture  the Sub-Contracting Charges

In CK13N, How the Sub-Contract rate is derived.
Kindly the tell the derivation methodlogy for SubContract Rate.
    Thanks in advance
    K.Natarajan

    Dear Natarajan,
1.For Sub-sontracted products ,the cost of that product = Raw-materials cost (which are sent to the third
party) + External processing cost(as per the cost mantained in ME11 for sub-contracting).So if the raw
materials cost is Rs 10 & the processing charges are Rs 25 means then the sub-contracted product cost
    = 10+25 = Rs 35.
    2. For sub-contracted Product you will be getting only the sub-contracting cost and not the manufacturing
cost.It will be having only raw material cost and sub-contracting charges.
Or do you want in this way?say X is a sub-contracted part and its made up of raw materials X1 & X2 and
once X is received ,its used for manufacturing Y ,So if you check the cost of Y it will having the sub-
contacted item (X) cost + Internal processing cost (operation cost for producing Y),so if you check for Y it
should show the split up of internal activity cost + sub-contracting charges +raw materials cost ?
3.For your information,if you check CK13N for your finished product which is produced using the Sub-
contracted product, then after giving the input and press enter ,then press F5,now you will get the exact
split up in which you were looking for.like processing cost ,conversion cost + material cost.
check the link - [Product Costing for Sub Contracted material|Re: Product Costing for Sub Contracted material]
    Check & Revert back.

  • PRODUCT COSTING ACTIVITIES AS THE PP WILL BE IMPLEMENTED IN 2ND PHASE

Solution for CO without PP module.
As planned, PP module will be implemented in the second phase. And we need to have solution to manage: finished good, production of Zee in first phase.
    About production of Zee.
Zee has many subcompanies, but there are only 3 company that implemented SAP system: Zee corp, Zeetech, Zee M&E. ( Zee corp is parent company of Zeetech, Zee M&E).
There is only Zeetech that has production.
Products of Zeetech: air condition, chilled water fanu2026Zeetech have many workshops.
Zeetech do many batch each of month, and there are many kind of products in each of batch.
We used Moving price for Zee on SAP system.
We intend to use u201Cproduction orderu201D to capture all cost related to product,
    Cost component of product:
    +raw material
    + labor cost
+ overhead cost of workshop: other costs
+ overhead cost of batch: fuel, submaterial,
    +  operation cost.
HOW SHOULD WE TAKE CARE OF PRODUCT COSTING ACTIVITIES AS THE PP WILL BE IMPLEMENTED IN SECOND PHASE ?

    Dear Anita,
Yes u r right that Each consultant will be prepare AS-IS & TO-BE documents for their respective modules but these BBP's are not mixed up.
The rules of each consultant in phase 2 i e Business Blue Prints is to created bbp's or say Document which is going to configure in the SAP system along with core users.
AS - IS means what futures client's are using in the Legacy System
TO- BE mean what futures we are giving to client according to thier Legacy System
    Hope u will Undersatnd.
