Summarisation levels in copa

dear sap gurus,
can any explain me how summarisation levels in copa are useful.if any one has documentation on this pls forward to [email protected]
regards,
siva

Hi Sivasai
COPA summarization levels are defined to optimize the system performance.  The uses which I could understand are as follows
1)  You must have defined characteristics required in COPA reporting.  Now u can summarize COPA reports at a particular characteristic level - System sums up the value fields and populates considers the summarized values at level chosesn for summarization
2)  When u do create planning layouts - here u define layouts whereve u enter plan values for sales qty, values, costs etc at ind product level or at product hierarchy level.  If u plan at hierarchy level u must hv defined the basis of distribution.  This takes care of detailed planning.  Now if u wish to transfer COPA sales plan values to SOP - u can either transfer at product level or total level.  Here u can define separate summarization level so that system consdiers the plan values and posts to SOP
3)  Similarly u can do this for cost center assessments too
4)  Before u do summarization levels u need to execute programme RKETRERU in SE38.  On running this programme the user defined levels are considered for summarization
Its an optional choice - depending on the number of products, complexity of planning, and other factors
Appreciate if someone in the forum can add their views on the above subject
Hope the above clarifies - pls assign points as a way to say thanks

  • Copa summarisation levels

    Hello all,
i need to find a way of speeding up our copa jobs, its taking 6-7 days which
is ridiculous. How do i reduce this time. what i thought of is to delete
the summarization levels in kedv that we havent been using that much.
i see the last used date of the summarisation levels and which ever ones we
havent used for a long time i want to delete them. Is there a better way of doing
this or better way of finding the active summarisation levels or invactive ones.
    Regards,
    Zaid Azam

Is there a way i can find out in which report a summarization level is being used.
Eg i have a summarisation level 900041 and i want to delete it if its not being used.
Is there some way i can find out summarization level is being used in report x, y and z
    Thanks,

  • Summarization Levels in COPA. Tr Code KEDV

    Dear All,
    I request you to give me some Clarifications on Summarization Levels namely;
    1) Are the summarization levels build form Line Items tables(CE1XXXX and CE2XXXX).
    2) If so how does it get the field "PLIKZ"(Plan/Actual Indicator) for Plan line items as this field so not part of CE2XXXX, so How is it Updated?
    3) Assuming that there are Performance problems even after using Summarization Levels, can you please explain as to how exactly do the Indexs work.?
    4) In Indexes, there are 5 Columns with the title "Field", each of the column containing multiple rows, can you please explain what is the use of each of the columns.?
    5) i have gone through the OSS Note "83204", in it there is a path(given below) given to download the information on Summarization Levels. However, i was not sure as to how to download it Could you please let me know how to download it.If Possible can you upload the document under "Wiki" or " Articles".
Below is the data and the file path from the note:
    ===============================================
The document can be downloaded via ftp from the sapserv3 server (binary
transfer mode). The German or English version is stored in directory:
    (~ftp/)general/R3server/abap/note.0083204
under the name h83204dt.doc or n83204en.doc.

    Hi,
Please follow instructions in note 480180 to download the file. Also for creating index you can refer to note 35288. Together with summarization levels and a proper secondary index you should not face major performace issue. If the performance continues to be bad then you must think about archiving the CE1 or CE4 tables in CO-PA.

  • COPA Summarization Levels

    Hi All,
I have created summarization levels in COPA and when I run the COPA KE30 report with the summarization levels being active or inactive, it produces the same numbers in the Dev system, so no issue there. But in QA system, same summarization levels do not provide the same numbers. The numbers when summarization levels are activated are less than half of the numbers when summarization levels are deactivated. Same problem in the PRD system. I have tried to resolve the issue by creating the summarization levels directly in the PRD system. But the numbers did not match in that case either. The numbers provided by the report when the summarization levels are deactived are less than even half of the numbers when the summarization levels are activated.
I have checked the report parameters in the DEV, QA and PRD systems and they are same.
Please let me know what may be causing this inconsistency.
Can it be because of some basis problem? I mean some memory problem etc which may be causing the summarization tables not to have all the data in QA and PRD systems.

You wouldnt have any message in reports yaar.
Just compare the authorisations in the development system with others.
Also, do one thing., execute transaction SU53 immediately after the report execution, to see for any missing authorisations.

  • COPA Sync

    Hi Experts,
We have created value fields differently in DEV and QAS with one as Qty and the other as values. Because of this we are not able to sync the data source eseential for bringing the COPA reports in BI.
We are not able to change the value fields after saving it hence this has become a permanant difference
Is there anyway we can change the value fields or delete them
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi,
I have created a test value field in sandbox and i immediately tried to delete it in KEA6. System was not allowing be to delete the same and when i searched in in KECM i found that it was used in Summarisation Levels.
What is this summarisation level for?
How  do i exclude this value field so that i can proceed with the deletion?
    Thanks

  • '*' in Summarization Levels for CO-PA

    Hi All,
What is the role of table "TKETRLF" in Account based CO-PA. When I try to check the CO-PA Datasource it is giving me an error. I tried to debug it and see where exactly is the problem. I found that the standard program is trying to read the data from the above said table and becoz of not finding the required data it is not picking up the summarisation level and throwing the error.
The table has got all the fields from the summarization levels and a flag(0,1,2...) which says if it is a summarization characteristic/user defined characteristic etc. The fields with out a '*' in KEDV has '0' as the flag. If the program finds the flag as '0' for any of the field in one summarization level then it is ignoring that level.
Since I have atleast one field with out a '*' in each of my summarization levels, it is not picking up the summarization level and throwing an error saying "No Source could be found".
This is very urgent...Please someone help me...
    Thanks,
    RPk.

    Hi,
I have the same problem, and I find SAP Note  Note 1069507 - BI Extraction : 'Errors occurred during the extraction'. This is for version 5.0, probably it help you, but in my case I am working in ECC 6.0.

  • Changes in MM02 not reflecting in COPA lin item report

    Hi,
In my project during data conversion material was grouped wrongly. We realised it later once we started designing COPA reports. The material is used by seven company codes. The basic material group defined in basic data is used by all company codes while Material group 1,2,3 4 and 5 are used by company specific defined in sales orgs 2 View in MM master(MM01).
I am designing report for three companies by using material group 1,2,3,4 and 5.
We tried changing the material group 1,2,3,4 and 5 for wrongly grouped materials in MM02. But in COPA report these changes are not reflecting. The grouping in report is still as per the data conversion grouping.
Please suggest on how should we rectify our material grouping to reflect in COPA report.
    Regds

    Hi,
in COPA reports characteristics are read from the COPA tables, they are not dynamically derived at the time of executing the report. In the COPA tables oyu will find the characteristic as derived at the moment of posting the line item.
If the characeristic that you want to rectify is in the definition of your your COPA segments - which you can check through TC KEQ3 - then there is possibility to carry changed master data over to past COPA data.
TC KEND allows you change the existing COPA segments according to current master data. However, it will not make changes to table CE1XXXX, where COPA line items are stored, but changes happen on the segment level (CE4XXXX).
This means that you always see the changes in COPA reports that read from segments, but not in line item based reports.
To change your output from line item based reports I see no other possibilty but to make correcting entries in CE1XXXX using KE21N or KEFC.
If you should consider using KEND please read the documentation for "realignment". It can create problems, for example if you have a SAP BW that is delta-updated from CE11XXX. Also your summarization levels for COPA have to be rebuilt after KEND.

  • Profit center as COPA characteristic

    Dear Guru ,
All my sites are profit center and i want to capture information at site level in copa and for the same i need to create a copa characteristic.
My confusion is what should be my characteristic :  Profit center or Site......
    Regards
    Nitisha

    Hi Nitisha,
If there is one to onr releationship between Profit Centre and Site there is no need to create additional characteristic "Site".
Profit Centre is so called "fixed" characteristic and is created automatically for every Operating Cncern.

  • COPA Report Data Inconsistency

We have our QA box refreshed with PRD Box. So the data in the two systems is same. I have created summarization level for COPA report Ke30 because report is taking too long in PRD as data comes directly from segment levels.
The numbers for the basic report in QA that are coming from the summarization levels do not match with the numbers of basic report in PRD. While these numbers were matching when summarization level was not used in QA. But these numbers match when I go to the line item level for the brands etc.I am unable to find why the numbers at the basic report level does not match. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Check the CE3xxxx table.  Are the number of records the same from PRD and QA? If no, then data is missing.  If yes, then the report could be the source of the problem.

  • Planning levels' execution & relationship with infocubes

    Hi Gurus,
I am encountering some hiccups while trying to figure out how BPS planning levels execution works.  Here are 2 examples of scenario that i am facing:-
    1. Planning level 123 is used to copy data from a basic cube to a transactional cube. The execution are fine, but when attempt to save data into the transactional cube, i was prompted with an error message , that the basic cube is not a real time cube.
The basic cube's data that i am trying to copy, is never meant to be a transactional cube, on top of that, i am not saving data into this cube.
    This scenario happens occasionally-not always.
    2. In a second scenario, i tried to run a planning level which copies data from cube A(basic) to cube B(transactional). But the execution wasnt successful, because cube C is not a transactional cube. In my planning level, i did not configure anything relating to Cube C,  i have only specify the parameter group to copy from cube A to B.
Please help to enlighten on how BPS planning levels works in terms of reading / copying data? Does it loop through all the cubes that are attached to the planning areas, whenever theres an execution?  - Even though it is not configured in the planning level?
Any advise is very much appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Jo-Chin

    Hi,
As per my understanding you are using multiarea as your planning area where cube A is transactional cube and cube B is basic cube and u want to copy some data from cube B to cube A but on save it is giving you an error,I think you have not restricted 0infoprovider with cube A in planning package, then it will consider both the cubes for writting the data which cann't be done with cube B as it is a basic cube. Can Also check for the change mode for cube A.
With the second scenario ,if it is a mutiarea(multiprovider) built with two-three cubes, then it will read the data from all the cubes until you restrict them in planning package with specific values of 0infoprovider.

No suitable summarization level with data exists
    Message no. KN424
Please explain what is summarization level.

    Hi
In COPA, COPA Assessments and COPA Reports are read from Summarised records and not line items.
Hence you need to set up Summarization levels in COPA
    Config Steps:
    1. You can have SAP provide you the propsed Summarization level by TCode KEDVP
    2. Or you can manually create the Summarization levels by TCode KEDV
    3. Run Tcode KEDU to create Summarization levels
