SunMC 3.6.1 Agent and zones
Hi folks,
I'm wondering how to handle zones with SunMC 3.6.1. We're planning to use zones in the future, mostly whole root zones. As far as I understood, I need to install the agent in the global zone and in the local zone afterwards. Is this correct?
Thanks in advance
1. How does the container manager link with SunMC.
Does monitor info go to the sunMC server ?SCM is one of the optional components you're prompted to add when you're installing SunMC Server and Agents. The way it works on the Server is that SCM adds an extra web interface, and it relies on the SunMC for host lists and a place to store it's data (i.e the graphs shown in the SCM web interface are actually coming from the SunMC Oracle database).
On the Agent side, all that happens when you say "y"es to SCM during install is that it adds a hidden module to the Agent that collects container/zone-type data, and can do the bidding of the SCM web interface (i.e. make/destroy Zones, alter CPU pools and container shares etc)
Do you only have to install the container manager
on the global zone ?Yes, it's only required for the SunMC Agent in each global zone. It's that Agent that can "see everything" about the containers and zones that are running.

Question for register Oracle agent inside Zone
Hi All,
There is a question about register an Oracle agent inside zone:
Lets say S1, S2 be the global zone for the hosts of a pair of Sun cluster, and zone1, zone2 as the non-global zone respectively.
Zone1 and zone2 with the zone path /dbzone, and the oracle binary is installed in zone1 and zone2s local disk, with path /home/oracle/10.2 as the ORACLE_HOME.
Therefore, the corresponding path to the host S1 and S2 is /dbzone/root/home/oracle/10.2.
And when we register the Oracle HA resource, with input the oracle home as /home/oracle/10.2, it will prompt that the directory is not contain required Oracle file.
And if we change to /dbzone/root/home/oracle/10.2, it will prompt with error when create resource, with the message, S1:zone1, path /dbzone/root/home/oracle/10.2 not exist.
We currently to solve the problem by moving the oracle binary to SAN disk, with mount point name /u01/oradata/portal/oracle/10.2 on the both global and non-global zone.
I would like to ask that is there any missing syntax or any document about how to register ORACLE_HOME inside zones local disk?
Thanks,
CheungCheung,
You probably haven't got the init<SID>.ora file in both ORACLE_HOME/dbs directories or something like that. Have a look at /var/adm/messages on both these zones and the global zone and see if there are any more hints as to what is missing.

Tim

Current State:
• I have a customer running CUCM 6.1 and UCCX 7.01SR5. Currently their CUCM is *NOT* LDAP integrated and using local accounts only. UCCX is AXL integrated to CUCM as usual and is pulling users from CUCM and using CUCM for login validation for CAD.
• The local user accounts in CUCM currently match the naming format in active directory (John Smith in CUCM is jsmith and John Smith is jsmith in AD)
Goal:
• Upgrade software versions and migrate to new hardware for UCCX
• LDAP integrate the CUCM users
Desired Future State and Proposed Upgrade Method
Using the UCCX Pre Upgrade Tool (PUT), backup the current UCCX 7.01 server.
Then during a weekend maintenance window……
• Upgrade the CUCM cluster from 6.1 to 8.0 in 2 step process
• Integrate the CUCM cluster to corporate active directory (LDAP) - sync the same users that were present before, associate with physical phones, select the same ACD/UCCX line under the users settings as before
• Then build UCCX 8.0 server on new hardware and stop at the initial setup stage
• Restore the data from the UCCX PUT tool
• Continue setup per documentation
At this point does UCCX see these agents as the same as they were before?
Is the historical reporting data the same with regards to agent John Smith (local CUCM user) from last week and agent John Smith (LDAP imported CUCM user) from this week ?
I have the feeling that UCCX will see the agents as different almost as if there is a unique identifier that's used in addition to the simple user name.
We can simplify this question along these lines
Starting at the beginning with CUCM 6.1 (local users) and UCCX 7.01. Let's say the customer decided to LDAP integrate the CUCM users and not upgrade any software.
If I follow the same steps with re-associating the users to devices and selecting the ACD/UCCX extension, what happens?
I would guess that UCCX would see all the users it knew about get deleted (making them inactive agents) and the see a whole group of new agents get created.
What would historical reporting show in this case? A set of old agents and a set of new agents treated differently?
Has anyone run into this before?
Is my goal possible while keeping the agent configuration and HR data as it was before?I was doing some more research looking at the DB schema for UCCX 8.
Looking at the Resource table in UCCX, it looks like there is primary key that represents each user.
My question, is this key replicated from CUCM or created locally when the user is imported into UCCX?
How does UCCX determine if user account jsmith in CUCM, when it’s a local account, is different than user account jsmith in CUCM that is LDAP imported?
Would it be possible (with TAC's help most likely) to edit this field back to the previous values so that AQM and historical reporting would think the user accounts are the same?
Database table name: Resource
The Unified CCX system creates a new record in the Resource table when the Unified CCX system retrieves agent information from the Unified CM.
A Resource record contains information about the resource (agent). One such record exists for each active and inactive resource. When a resource is deleted, the old record is flagged as inactive; when a resource is updated, a new record is created and the old one is flagged as inactive. -
I teach Continuing education classes to Real Estate agents and I need to issue them certificates at the class, whihc need to be signed by me and it needs to contain their info on the certificate. The certificate is currently saved in a word format. What i'm trying to accomplish is to do a "mail merge " ( as some classes i have as many as 150 attendees) for the document, digitally sign each one with my signature on the certificate and then e-mail it out to the respective attendees. can this be done? if so How?
This is the step that I took after inputting my signature.
On the right, after saving my document, I click "Get Others to Sign." I was confused because it says that it's powered by EchoSign. Like I stated before, my clients are able to sign this document when I send it to them, but it is returned to me with their signature (not in the signature field, but at the end of the document), and my signature is missing. I tested this on myself - my signature is missing when they receive it. -
SQL Server Agent and Jobs and executing @EventData
I have a SQL Server Agent Job and within it a Job Step which states "Execute Report Subscriptions" and a command which has...
exec msdb.dbo.sp_start_job '6FF53AED-855F-43AB-9FB7-064062B8012E' --9:07 subscription
GO
WAITFOR DELAY '00:08';
Now, I find within SQL Server Agent the Job '6FF53AED-855F-43AB-9FB7-064062B8012E' and its step command which is...
exec [ReportServer].dbo.AddEvent @EventType='TimedSubscription', @EventData='ca4e5410-2758-4a1a-9b06-513821e0d962'
How can I drill-down further into the @EventData 'ca4e5410-2758-4a1a-9b06-513821e0d962' to see what it does? I do not see 'ca4e5410-2758-4a1a-9b06-513821e0d962' within SQL Server Agent and Jobs or am I way off base here as to what exactly the @EventData
parameter seems to be?
Thanks for your review and am hopeful for a reply.Hi ITBobbyP,
According to your description, you need to know the what does SQL Server Reporting Services do when fire a subscription, right?
When you create a subscription several things are added to the RS server
A row is placed in the Subscriptions table identifying the name of the report, along with parameter settings, data driven query info and so on to process the subscription
A row is placed in the Schedule and ReportSchedule tables with the timing of the subscription
A SQL Server Agent job is created to control the scheduled execution of the report, and this is stored in the sysjobs and sysjobsteps of the MSDB database.
When the subscription runs several things happen
The SQL Server Agent job fires and puts a row in the Event table in the RS catalog with the settings necessary to process the subscription
The RS server service has a limited number of threads (2 per CPU) that poll the Event table every few seconds looking for subscriptions to process
When it finds an event, it puts a row in the Notifications table and starts processing the subscription
Please refer to the links below to see the details.

Mapping del credere agent and consignment stockist in sap sd
Dear Gurus
My client has trading business with IOCL company acted as a del credere agent and consignment stockist. Generally, IOCL sending the material our company go down. we do the business with the customers and we are paying the amount to the IOCL in advance and we are taking the money from the customer. For doing this business we are getting from the IOCL. we are also maintaining RG23D register. Our go downs are registered as depot. But we are not selling the material directly, please tell me how can we map this scenario.
Regards
thirupathihi,
Sales office is termed as an internal organisation element in SAP. ie:- Its a representation of the company at a specified geography.
The distributor is always a customer for the business. The operations of the distributor are completely different from the company. Hence, mapping distributor as a sales office is completely ruled out.
The distributors can be taken as a DISTRIBUTION CHANNEL in the org structure.
All the distributors are created as customers in a specific sales area.
Secondary sales is a business activity happening from the distributor to the dealer.
So, in any business automation(not only SAP) we need not automate this activity.
This would be automated by the distributors. We can only frame business regulations in domain for the secondary sales but not automate it.
Reward if helpful.

My Intermedia Web agent and Clipboard doesn't work!
Hi,Simon
I'v just downloaded the Intermedia Web agent and Clipboard plugin from OTN a few days ago.But both of it don't work when I install it.Would you please help me look for the reason?
My operating system is Windows 2000 Professional, and my web server is OAS 4.0.8.1,and my database is 8i.
When I visit these address"http://host:port/intermedia/^about"and "http://host:port/intermedia/admin",the browser returns to me a error page.
When I connect to host in Clipborad,it returns to me an error message which says"The following error was received from the intermedia web agent,<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>Invalid host specified</TITLE></HEAD><BODY>The request did not specify a valid virtual host</BODY>
I don't know if this web agent can work with OAS 4.0.8.1 and if OAS 4.0.8.1 can run in the Windows 2000 Professional.
Thanks
nullHi,Simon,
Thank you for your help!I have sent my application information to your product manager by email!
But the error stll appears. When I typed the whole domain name in the host area of Clipborad, the error message changed to "An application error has occured, please try again!".When I typed the address"http://My host:port/intermedia/~about"(I have substituted ^ with ~ )"and "http://My host:port/intermedia/admin",it still returns an error page which says"HTTP 500 Server internal error......"like before!
Also,I found other errors about OAS.One Application cannot add the second Cartridge,it returns an error:"OWS-09103:Cartridge section'[Application wscWRBApp" when I do it.So I suspect the reason is my operating system platform,I will try to reinstall it now.

Access Manager Policy Agent and Oracle AS
Hi,
my system uses Oracle Application Server. The security dept use Sun Access Manager. I need to integrate the security of the Oracle system with the policy agent. Where this gets a little confusing is that one of my developers tells me that this is difficult to implement and that Sun arent planning on supporting the Oracle AS in future.
What I would like is some clarification from the horses mouth so to speak. In particular is it possible to integrate the policy agent and Oracle AS, and are Sun committed to supporting and developing for this.
Thanks,
Andy."Where this gets a little confusing is that one of my developers tells me that this is difficult to implement"
"it is NOT an implementation but an integration ! difficult ? why ?"
"and that Sun arent planning on supporting the Oracle AS in future."
There is a PA 2.2 for Oracle 10g ! It is the latest version(2.2 I mean). I don't see any reasons why Sun should not continue. But it is ONLY my point of view...
"What I would like is some clarification from the horses mouth so to speak. In particular is it possible to integrate the policy agent and Oracle AS, and are Sun committed to supporting and developing for this."
Of course it is possible because you can find the PA that will integrate your Oracle AS with a Sun AM.
1) Please read the documentation.
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/coll/1322.1
Download the one for Oracle and read also the user guide.
PA are very easy to integrate if you know what you do... Espec. und. the AM auth and sso... If you can be helped by a AM guy from your comp. it is welcome... It is a j2ee agent and of course the PA will make what is necessary to redirect you to AM at login time and later to auth. your request...2)
2) Download the soft and do the job :-)

Sun Java System Access Manager Policy Agent 2.2 for Oracle Application Server 10g
http://www.sun.com/download/products.xml?id=455d52ed
I did plenty of int. with Sun/Bea/Tomcat AS(don't forget there are also webserver agents like Apache PA) with AM and it is not a big deal. Not Oracle, but it is an AS and I don't see why it should be difficult...
Hope this helps a bit. -
How to automate checking status of Replication agent and Replication queue in CQ5
As part of monitoring the status of replication agents and replication queue, is it possible to automate the checking process?
We can check them from GUI, but from a monitoring perspective we are loking for a mechanism where the status can be checked continuously and we are alerted whenever there is some issue.
1. Check status of replication agent (enabled/disabled)
2. Check status of replication queue (if the queue is blocked)
Thanks in advance
nkraoyou can pull the queue from the page the same way the UI gets the list
in the table:
curl -u admin:admin
"http://localhost:4502/etc/replication/agents.author/publish/jcr:content.queue.json?agent=p ublish"
and then use a shell library like ticktick.sh to parse the json
response. A sample of how to get the bundles loaded and installed from
CQ using the ticktick library can be found here

Patchadd and zones??
I feel dumb asking this question especially since I think its due to my lack of knowledge with zones. I am using Solaris 10 with only a global zone, at least thats what I think? I ran a "zoneadm list" and only listed "global".
I have downloaded uwc [yes I posted something similar on the JMS forum] patch 118540-42 and have tried to add it with patchadd. I get an error saying " Package SUNWuwc from directory SUNWuwc in patch 118540-42 is not installed on the system" and the patch does not install [I can not see it with showrev -p nor in /var/sadm/patch]. I also tried the "-G" option but no difference.
Then I tried using Solaris Management Console 2.1 using its patch tool. Action -> add patch and I get an error saying "Some or all of the software packages that patch 118540-42 patches are not installed on the target host.".
So I decided to look for SUNWuwc with pgkinfo and there is no listing, in fact none of the Java comm suite is found [nor most of the stuff in /opt and /usr/local ]. Yet I know JES is all in /opt and is working fine. I have never created a zone on this system and thought I had installed everything to just a global zone. I have had this system running for over a year and some updates have happened [just not sure what changed].
So I am wondering is there another way to add patches with Sol 10? another flag or utility? Is there a way to know what zone one is working in? or has installed stuff to. Is there a way at this point to stop using zones altogether?
Maybe I am missing a Sol 10 patch?
I had also run into a file /var/sadm/install/gz-only-packages and sure enough all my installed packages were listed here [all the JES stuff and web server etc]. I thought this meant "global zone only" and I only have a global zone??? so why can I not patch??
Apologies for the confusion [and lack of more details], although I have worked with Solaris for years this new 10 version and zones is a bit confusing for me. Plus the problem might not be zones related at all :^)
Thanks in Advance
-Jamestry zoneadm list -vc
this shows all zones on the system, whether they are configured, running or not running.
Next, try to get the 10-recommended patches from sunsolve.sun.com and add those, but do it in single-user mode.

Reporting Agent and Download Scheduler
Hello All,
I have an issue with the Reporting Agent and Download scheduler. I am on BW 3.5. I am not familiar with the setup myself (I inherited it), and I would like some basic information.
Essentially it was working fine until we added some new settings. Now, the Download Scheduler freezes mid-run - just stops - and I am guessing this has to do with the new settings that were created (not by me - again, I just inherited all this).
Any help, suggestions, links to white papers (Google was NOT helpful) anything at all on this ancient technology would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Agent and Supervisor Desktop Updates
With version 7.x of UCCX, if we did an update to our UCCX server, the updated agent and supervisor desktops downloaded automatically the next time a user logged on.
Last night I updated our 8.5.1 server to the latest build. I went to run the agent and supervisor and it just gave me a message that I had to install the latest version. It doesnt appear to auto update. Is there a way to make that work.Hi John,
Did you run the "Cisco Unified CCX Client Configuration tool " after upgrading your UCCX system. If not please run it and relaunch the CAD or CSD, they will get automatically get upgraded.
Hope this helps.

I'm not sure but since it's saying there's a library issue, you could try running:
# ldconfig
Failing that you could try a:
# pacman -Rns slim
# pacman -Syu slim
I tried both "ldconfig" and "pacman -XXX", but the problem is still there.
Maybe I need use another way to recompile slim in my machine.
But I have no time to test it now, I will try it another day.
Thx for replies. -
Some computers download and install the two approved updates, others only download Windows Update Agent and not the approved updates.
