Sup 1a upgrade to sup 2 msfc2 w/ pfc2

we are running a sup 2 msfc 2 with pfc2.
we have dual chassis with a single sup in each. when i try to enable hsrp between them they start dropping packets like crazy. I'm pretty sure the problem lies in my config of the msfc2's
we are running in native mode.
question 1
how do i verify same config on both msfc's
redundancy is running in rpr-plus
(dual chassis single sup)

You cannot run RPR or RPR-plus when the Supervisors are in different chassis. If you do have identical configs on both 6500's then that is why you are seeing performance problems. You need to have different logical IP's on the interface that you are running HSRP on and then the same Virtual address.
Ex:
6500-a(config)#int vlan 1
6500-a(config-if)#ip add 10.10.10.2 255.255.255.0
6500-a(config-if)#standby ip 10.10.10.1
6500-b(config)#int vlan 1
6500-b(config-if)#ip add 10.10.10.3 255.255.255.0
6500-b(config-if)#standby ip 10.10.10.1

Moving from Sup1a CatOS to Sup 2 MSFC questions

Hey,
Currently running a flat network with 1 x 6509 with a Sup1a and Catos at the core and 3550's in the wiring closet and STP.
I'm installing Sup 2 MSFC in the 6509.
Whats the current best practice on this move in terms of IOS or CatOS and how I address each closet.
I'm looking to route to each closet.
Create management vlans and separate user traffic.
I'm trying to come up with an implementation plan.

When I take delivery of the Sup 2 MSFC2 will it be running NATIVE IOS or CatOS on the Sup and IOS on the MSFC ?
Or will I have to do an initial install ?
The reason I'm asking is I'm trying to work out and implemention plan. I want to backup the Sup1a's in the 6509 now and then take then out and put the Su2/MSFC2 in running just layer2, like it is now. Then work my way up gradually to layer 3 in each closet.

Memory Upgrade on SUP2/MSFC2

When running Native IOS, and need to do a RAM upgrade on the SUP2/MSFC2, do you need to upgrade both the SUP2 memory and the MSFC2 or just the SUP2?
Is there any documentation on this, I could not find any

As a rule of thumb, it is a good idea to match the DRAM size on the MSFC2 and Sup2.

6509 Supervisor 1A-Msfc2

First I thank you all for your contineous technical support.
I have been replacing recently to one of our customer standby sup-1A-Msfc2. It was working till lastday. But to day I got the call from the customer stating that the module again not working and shows the unknown state. What I learnt from the client is that they brought down the power for the switch and then again mae it up sincethen the problem arised. Could you help me to troubleshoot the problem.Clent think that there could be some short of software issues to resolve.

Thank you for your response.
I just left the client place after the unsuccessful attempt. The problem is that when the chassis is powered off then on the standby sup is not comomg up.
Also I do not have any access to the switch. I can only see the show commands only.
They the clien has all the security applied.
I do not know how to pass your tips to the client since the tech support operting from london to control the switch on bahrain.
Also we do not have any spare chassis to check it up.
When is the actual process when inserting the standby sup to slot 2.

Verifying Compatibility of VS-S2T-10G (Sup2T) with IDSM-2 (IDSM2)

I am preparing to do an upgrade from Sup720 to Sup2T on a Catalyst 6509E.
I am not seeing compatibility of the Sup2T with the IDSM2 in the release notes.
Could someone verify if the IDSM2 is compatibility with the Sup2T (running s2t54-ipservicesk9-mz.SPA.150-1.SY3.bin)
If not, is there a follow-on product?

the IDSM2 seems to be incompatible with the SUP2T.

DVD from converted Super 8 won't play since system upgrade?

DVDs converted from Super 8 in 2009 previously worked fine on Mac, but since recent upgrade to 10.8.4 (?from 10.6.8) video will not play, although audio does. Info from disk includes: UDF (Universal Disk File?); DVD Player Document, Unix Executable File, Video_TS.BUP and .IFO and.VOB, VTS_01_0.IFO or .VOB on different files. Still work OK on DVD player with TV. Any suggestions appreciated. Has probably been 1-2 years since last viewed.

Are you able to first create a disc image and then use Apple's DVD Player Application to open this disc image? Let us know if it plays correctly directly from the disc image. If it does, then it may be you have a media issue. What kind of media did you burn to? Try using Verbatim or Maxell DVD-R and burning from a disc image at 4x or slower using apple's Disk Utilities or Toast.
If the above fails to resolve this issue then repair permissions on your Hard Drive. Also drag and drop the plist for iDVD to the trash. Looks like this:
com.apple.iDVD.plist
Empty the trash and Restart the computer.
Lastly, make sure to run apple's software updater for iDVD6 as well as for QuickTime.

My Iphone charges super slowly after upgrading to IOS 7

My phone charges super slowly after upgrading . Usually it's take about 2hours for a full charge now it's not even 60%

The iPhone will fast charge for the first 2 hours or so.. and then will trickle charge for the next couple of hours.
Try putting it on Charge Over Night... Then monitor it for next the week or so... Charging as you normally do.

As per Cisco document, it is required EPLD upgrade from SUP1 to SUP2E with Fabric-2 module, but there is no guide time for EPLD.

- Run ‘install all epld bootflash:n7000-s1-epld.6.1.1a.img parallel’ after rebooting with original SUP1.
- Verify configuration and status

SP1 to R2 Client Upgrade via SUP

Hi,
Currently planning an upgrade to R2. We currently only deploy clients via SUP (SP1) then update clients to the CU by using SCUP. A WMI filter then disables Windows Updates for clients where the installed version of the client is >5. This
is to prevent auto updates interfering with software updates delivered by CM.
I am planning to roll out the R2 upgrade also via SUP by amending the WMI filter so that it looks for clients less than the R2 version, which will re-enable automatic updates and pull down the new client.
I am aware that I could also use the automatic client upgrade option, but where servers have maintenance windows I could see this never running during a MW.
Any comments/thoughts on this approach?

Please examine MaintenanceCoordinator.log, ScanAgent.log and ServiceWindowManager.log on the client.

Yes, they will, because other updates are deployed with a deadline. The automatic update method uses a scheduled task which may not tie in with the MW, and so will never run.

Cat 4000 Sup 1 and 2 rommon upgrade release notes?

I'm trying to find the release notes for the Cat 4000 sup 2 rommon upgrades. I've looked all over CCO but haven't been able to find them. In the release notes for CatOS 8.x, 7.x etc it tells you HOW to upgrade the rommon, but it doesn't tell you WHAT it does.
I've done the 6500 sup and msfcs before and they had release notes.

Can I use the same procedure for a ROMMON upgrade? I will not have console access and must do it remotely.
This is what I have:

There are 2 ways to upgrade:
1-Load the IOS version you want to both Sups, change the boot variable, so the switch can load the new IOS after the reboot and finally reboot the chassis.
2-Use ISSU see link:

As for the ROMMON, you usually don't need to upgrade it often and you can always do that later if you need to. I think, some of the newer versions of IOS upgrade the ROMOM as well as the main image but I am not sure exactly for what platforms.
