SWF now 400k larger with Beta 2...
I just updated to Beta 2 this morning and went to a Flex 3
project I'm working on. All I did was re-build my project and the
compiled SWF has jumped from 347KB to 757KB.
I'm still a relative Flex newbie, but I don't see anything
that looks out of place. This project does use the Flex Charting
Components.
What could possibly be the cause of this dramatic jump. I
need to fix a few issues with the code, but it looks like I need to
go back to Beta 1 if I want the Flex application to be a reasonable
size.
The Export Release is smaller in size, but it's still 120KB
larger (the Export Release is 468KB in size compared to the old
Flex 3 beta 1 compiled size of 347KB.)
Is it possible something in the Project Properties changed
that could affect the compiled SWF bytesize?

In Aperture album about 16 photos would show on screen and double clicking on one would enlarge it for adjustments. Now one larger image shows with about 7 photos at bottom. Options for controlling this no longer appear at top right. How do I correct this?
Do you mean the "View" controls are missing in your Toolbar?
To add these controls back to the Toolbar, use the View menu and select "Customize Toolbar". Drag the View Controls back to the Toolbar. -
I have Photoshop CS3 which I have used successfully for a number of years. I now shoot pics with a Nikon DSLR D7100. When I try to open NEF files the following flag appears: "Could not complete your request because PS does not recognize this file". What do I need to do to open my NEF files?? Thanks.

FYI, the file is a photographic panorama based on several .CR2 photos taken in July, 2012 and processed in CS5's camera RAW/Photoshop. Beyond the metadata, here are no fonts or text in the file.
1. I changed Maximize ...File Capability from "Never" to "Always" and the flattened file saved and loaded OK, though I can't figure why given Adobe's description of this option. "If you work with PSD and PSB files in older versions of Photoshop or applications that don’t support layers, you can add a flattened version of the image to the saved file...". The file saved in this manner is ~8% larger and is not my preference as a routine since I've TB's of photo files. By the way, out of thousands of .psd/.psb files, the one being discussed is the first to give me the error.
2. I've tried saving/reloading the file on another computer with Win XP Sp3/CS5...again with Maximize Capability OFF. Same problem. Turn ON Maximize Capability and it works. As with the Win 8 machine, Bridge could neither create a thumbnail or read Metadata.
3. I've purged the Bridge Cache, made sure there were no old PS page files, reset PS preferences, and disabled my 2 plugins with no change in the problem. Windows and Adobe progs are all updated. Saving to a different HDD has no effect.
The problem occurs on 2 computers (Win XP/Win 8), two versioins of Photoshop (CS5/CS6), and "Maximize" On/Off togles the problem. My guess it is a bug in PSD processing routines.
If I can't find a fix, will keep with Maximize ON and deal with the larger files that result...the cost of insurance, I suppose.

Provisioning Problems with Beta 7
I read the other thread on this and tried those things.
I'm still having problems deploying with Beta 7.
I followed the instructions on the dev site (the pdf).
I generated a new generic wildcard AppID called ##########.com.mycompany.*
Then I generated 3 new provisioning profiles for my three apps .
All three provisioning profiles now have the same wildcard
app id (which makes me uncomfortable but thats what the doc says to do)
In my project/getinfo/build I have "iPhone Developer" in the Code
signing entity under "Any iPhone OS Device".
In the code Signing Provisioning Profile I chose the profile I made
for my first application.
In target/myapplication/getinfo under properties under identifier I have
##########.com.mycompany.*
In info.plist under Bundle Identifier I have ##########.com.mycompany.*
Build and go gives me the unexpected error error from Organizer.
(0xE800..01)
So I'm obviously doing something wrong. I see the provisioning profile
(I'm only trying the first one at the moment) in the organizer and it is checked.
One thing that confuses my is that on the portal all three of my profiles
now have the same ########### prefix. This doesn't seem correct as how
am I going to differentiate between them in the future (for uploading, etc)?
Help! Thanks!OK, I got it fixed. The instructions said to use an appid of ######.* and I was using #####.com.mycompany.* which, of course, isn't the same.
I also needed to remove the bundle id from plist and the target and just put in any string I wanted. I'll worry about that all appids are the same later... -
First off, let me confirm that the correct way to upgrade from beta 7 to beta 8 was just to install beta 8 on top on beta 7. Is that correct or should I have deleted beta 7 first?
If that's correct, then I am having a whole bunch of issues.
First issue: My basic Tab Bar Controller application does not display (in the simulator) the UIView the first time you visit the tab but does display it the second time you visit a tab. Anyone every seen this and if so any ideas on the root cause?
Second issue: Once the view does display, I am having some issues with controls. When I try to add "IBOutlet NSTextField* distanceLabel;" to my interface for the view controller (subclassed from UIViewController), the compiler flags this with "syntax error before NSTextField". Am I missing some special syntax sugar for the iPhone here?
Third issue: I have hooked up a button "touch up" event to a method in my controller with this signature: "- (IBAction) start:(id)sender;" This hooks up all nice and good but when the button is pressed, the app crashes in GDB with a selector not found error.
Anyone seen this with beta 8 or otherwise?

I also reformated my dev machine and clean installed beta 8 so I am pretty sure that is not the issue now...

My wife and I share apple id but have our own phones, and now having trouble with imessage. Sharing calenders, apps, music, contacts, etc...all great. But when we imessage each other. Our phones get confused and either not deliver message, or send it to and from itself.
Go to Settings > Facetime and you will see "You can be reached for video calls at:"
This should list your phone number (iPhone) and your email address (probably the gmail one).
And then an option for "Add another email..."
Choose that and enter your @me.com account and it'll send a verification email.
Same for iMessage: Settings > Messages > "Receive at" > Add Another Email
So you can be called by facetime and use iMessage through multiple email accounts yes. -

Yep, and it still didn't work.
But I figured what I did wrong: I was selecting both the text and the heart, and then I was doing the whole Object>Wrap Text>Make thing, as opposed to just selecting the heart and doing it. Once I did it, I moved the heart around on top of the text, and it "made room" for the pic, wrapping itself around the heart.

Itunes 10.5.3.3 error (-42404) now lost synch with ipod, previous ver OK.
Updated Itunes to 10.5.3.3 and reveived error (-42404) now lost synch with ipod, previous ver OK. Reinstalling with repair after downloading the Itunes.exe file did not work.
Error (-42404) SOLUTION - for Vista
Uninstall everything Apple as per Apple Forum "http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 for Vista". Be the administrator to ensure you have acces to folders and files which you may need to check. This is the solution that worked for Vista, but I read the solution for Win 7 is almost identical.

iTunes store advertised Magical Mystery Tour ringtones if I bought the album, so I did. No ringtones are now available or with the album. Is this false advertising?
Been having the same problems all week. And am got a generic, not-at-all-helpful response from my initial inquiry with support, then absolutely no response to my follow-up requests. There seem to be a fair number of people posting this problem, so not sure why we're being ignored.
Was able to eventually download the episodes manually via the 'purchased' link, but it's about 10 more steps than normal.
Also noticed that itunes isn't recognizing my purchases at all, not just season passes. If I go to a page of a show where I buy episodes individually, it doesn't show which episodes I have previously bought like it used to. -
My Macbook Pro has a black screen when running in Bootcamp Windows 7. Since I updated the mac side my windows side now starts up with completely black screen - no prompt, nothing, Cap keys still light up as does mouse and DVD drive seems to run.
Will not show up in safe mode, will not show when started from Windows 7 DVD.
I suspect the Mac update wiped out my PC video drivers but can not think of a way to re-install?
Can see the PC volume from Mac side with files.
I've looked at all the online solutions so far and have tried most of them without success. Please help!

Specifically, the posts by Dunsany and valkyr did the trick. I booted in safe mode, uninstalled and deleted the Nvidia driver, disabled automatic driver installation, and restarted normally. I then manually downloaded and installed the previous Nvidia driver for my graphics card (which at the time of this writing was 335.23, rather than the latest which was 337.88), and everything is now bueno!
Two hiccoughs along the way: First, when I tried to uninstall the Nvidia driver the first time, when I restarted I got the login screen (which was a good sign), but it quickly went black again. I powered down, restarted in safe mode again, and repeated the uninstallation process, and it worked the second time. Second, when I started the manual install of the 335.23 driver, the computer played a sound similar to the one for disconnecting a USB device, and the screen went black. I'd seen a lot about trying to increase the brightness (though it hadn't worked up to this point; but if you haven't tried it yet, might as well); I tried it, and it worked! So far I'm back up and running. [/fingers crossed]

When trying to upgrade and install OS X Mmavericks to my Macbook Pro as it started to install the computer stopped the install and now is stuck with the OS X Mavericks intall window showing and I can't get out of it or force quit? I can not do anything else because this is stuck with this window/install screen showing. I have tried everything to get back to my regular desktop. I do not want to wipe the drive because I have photos on it that I want to save. So if there is any way to bypass this installer and get back to my regular desktop I would greatly appreciate the help.

Recently upgraded to a Canon Mark 3 and now having issues with my RAW files in Bridge and Photoshop. I have operating with CS4. Photoshop produces and error " Could not complete your request because photoshop does not recognize this type of file"
Assuming you mean 5D Mark III, Photoshop CS4 cannot directly open raw files from your camera.
Generally speaking, Adobe stopped updating older versions to be able to read raw files from newer cameras when they released a new major version of Photoshop. Photoshop CS4 is no longer receiving Camera Raw updates.
You can double check this yourself:
First you need to determine whether Adobe has released support for your new camera in your version of Photoshop. To do that, look at these two pages. You'll want to find out the earliest version of Camera Raw that can support your camera, then what version of Photoshop can run that version of Camera Raw.

The DNG converter DOES work, but if you want maximal quality from your raw files (not to mention the convenience and ease of use of directly opening your raw files) you'll want the latest version of Photoshop. Adobe has made substantial improvements in raw conversion quality in recent years.

Updated my 2 imacs to Maverick yesterday. Schoolboy error on my part not checking if there were problems with any programmes before I did.
Quark is now a nightmare with no short term answer on the way. As a Quark user for over 20 years this is just another reason to hold your hands up and say OK Indesign you win I will have to learn how to use you and Quark will be a distant memory.
I am told there will probably be no solution to getting quak 9 running on Maverick and that you will need to update to 10 in about 2-3 weeks to get back to normal. Having spent a few bob on 2 versions of 9.5 only in Feb this year i didn't really want to upgrade yet.
So its cough up to carry on using Quark or learn Indesign.
I have lost faith in Quark as they are quick to send me e-mails asking me to upgrade to this and that version, why didn't they send one out saying do not upgrade to Maverick. Perhaps they know there loyal follwing will uograde to 10 and will generate a nice little bonus before Xmas.
Lots to do today and will now take 10 times longer to do it. Is this 2013 or 1974!!!!!

Has enybody an idea, how i can refer from a flash "A.swf" on level 0 to a "B.swf" on level 1 with an "gotoAndStop(5). I tried it with:
loadMovieNum("B.swf", 9), gotoAndStop(5);
and other variations. It didn´t work anytime. Has anybody an idea how it can work?If you are trying to tell the B swf to gotoAndStop(5) after it has loaded, you need to wait until it has loaded and you need to target it as well. Look into using the MovieClipLoader class. If you look at the MovieClipLoader.addListener section of the help documents it provides an example of how to listen for completion of loading. After loading you need to target the loaded movie... just using gotoAndStop(5) alone is tagerting whatever timeline that code is in, not any specific object.
