Switch to debugging mode

I need to debug my application, I've already set the debug mode ON as well as the restricted load balancing, but when I try to debug the application, it says that the j2ee engine server node should be in "Debugging", how can I change that??

Hi Fran
Where did you set the debug mode ON?
How many instances of the J2EE you are running on the server?
Clearly the error says that you have not started your J2EE engine for debug mode.
If you have multiple instances see that you set the debug mode on on the instance where you have deployed

    Hello,
I was in transcation SE16 and switched the debug mode on for deleting a table entry. Now I have finished and want to deactivate the debug mode that no fuirhter editing of table entries is possible. What I have to do?
    Regards

    Hi Philip,
As you are telling it is SE16, only way would be System --> Status --> Double click on Program Name. (SAPLSETB).
Once the program is displayed, you can goto Utilities --> BreakPoints --> Display all.
Also, once the display of break points appear, click on the option that would show All the Break-Points of the program.
As you have told that you have even tried logging off and log back in, and as you had set the break-point using /H, i dont think you would be able to debug the transaction again without /H, philip, Kindly check is you are able to debug (I mean does the transaction SE16, goes in to DEBUG mode, when you excute it?).
    Best Regards,

  • Switch to debug mode

    Hi all,
i would like to switch to debug mode on my EP6, how can i do that ?
If i look at the configuration file, i can see the line :
    jstartup.debuggable  no
How can I put this line at "true" ?
    Regards

    hello guys
    I'm in the same situation.
    My Landscape is :
Sneak Preview SP 11 + Developer Studio.
At the moment I'm trying the debug mode to operate in a local server (using Developer Studio installed at the server that contains Web AS), but this should be working in remote schema ( Developer Studio separated of WAS )
I've tried the configuration procedure recommended in help.sap.com ( through J2ee engine view at NWDS ) and in some posts achieved in this forum, including parameter setting up of jlaunch (instance profile jstartup/debug_mode parameter)
The message returned its the same (no matter what combination of configurations is being used)
    "503 Service Unavailable
Dispatcher running but not server conected"

  • Downsides to leaving J2EE in Debug Mode?

    Hi All,
Are there any downsides to leaving j2ee in debug mode? Performance, etc? I'm only talking about Development.
    Thanks,

We have had our dev server in debug mode for several months and have experienced no issues. We do reboot the dev server every weekend, but have been doing this even before the dev server was switched to debug mode.

  • How to turn on debug mode for NW 7.3 trial version?

    Hello SDN!
I've got a trial version of NW 73 from here: http://scn.sap.com/community/netweaver/blog/2012/07/12/netweaver-compositon-environment-73-trial-version-available-on-scn and installed it from instruction. Installation was OK and Java instance is up and running now. System asked me to change administrator password after I logon to the NWA for the first time. I've changed password and now I'm able to login to the NWA but system doesn't accept neither new administrator password nor OS users (root and cesadm users) passwords when I try to turn on debug mode for Java instance.
    What I did wrong?
    Regards, Lev

    Hi Benny!
    Thanks for answer.
The installation finished without any errors. Java instance run successfully. After install I opened browser right in VM window with url http://sapnwce73:50000/nwa to switch on debug mode. Since it was my first logon to the system as "Administrator" user the system asked me to change password. I've changed password and logon to NWA successfully as user with login "Administrator" and his new password. After I switched on debug mode the system asked me to login and password as shown on the follow screenshot:
This screen didn't accept neither Administrator user credentials, nor cesadm user credentials, nor root user credentials.
Also I've found that I'm not able to restart/stop Java instance because of the same issue - system doesn't accept user credentials.

  • Switching server to debug mode - need to do it twice

We have just completed a switch from BEA Workshop for Weblogic 10.0 to Eclipse 3.3 + Weblogic Server Tools 1.0.1.
There are couple issues that I'm not sure if they work as intended or they are bugs. This is the first one:
    1. when server is started in a non-debug mode with an application deployed and then it is switched to the debug mode (by right clicking on the server and choosing debug) the debug mode doesnt seem to be properly activated. The application doesnt stop at the breakpoints.
    2. after right clicking and choosing debug again the server gets fully restarted into the debug mode (in step 1 there is no full restart - similarly as it works in the Workshop). Now after the fiull restart the breakpoints work properly.
Is this by design? Is this 'quick debug mode switch' supposed to be working only in the Workshop? If yes can the first time click on debug actually initiate the whole server restart into the debug mode?
    thank you
    s.

It sounds like you hit the following bug, which has been fixed in the code line currently under development (v1.1) and which is currently scheduled for release on October 2nd.

  • Debug mode switches off after clicking button

    Hi there,
I am trying to use Debug Mode in order to track down a problem, but when I click an application button on a page Debug Mode is being turned off so I do not get the debug output that I am after.
In brief, I am doing the following:
    1) Editing the page in Application Builder
    2) Clicking the "Run" button to run the page
    3) Clicking the "Debug" button to turn Debug Mode on. The page is then redisplayed with debug ouput among the page items.
    4) I then type some text into some fields in a form region and click a button in the same region to create a record. The same page is then redisplayed but Debug Mode has now been turned off!
I then tried something similar using the example ORDERS schema under a different workspace and username, and this time Debug Mode remained switched on until I switched it off explicitly.
Is there something I have to do to keep Debug Mode switched on?
    Regards.
    John.

    John,
The branch defined on the page determines whether the current setting of &DEBUG. is used in the URL redirected to. Normally, that wouldn't be set. You'd have to edit the branch (and make it an f?p URL with &DEBUG. or YES in the debug position.

  • Weblogic Server switching from debug to start mode

I am using weblogic server on bea workshop for weblogic platform(weblogic 10.1)
I started the server in debug mode.
When I start the server there is an exception popup shown on the ide saying "Server could not be launched within timeout".
Now on the domain console, the status of server is shown as started, but on the ide, the server status is "started" and not "debugging".
When I right click on the server and click restart-->Debug, it changes mode to debugging, but when application is started, it does not hit the breakpoint

C++ changed debug format from stabs to dwarf format in Studio 12. The change was necessary because stabs format was not capable of representing new debugger information now generated by the compiler.
Dwarf format is a bit larger than stabs, partly because it contains additional information the debugger can use.
By default, stabs information resides only in the .o files, and the a.out contains only "index stabs" that show where to find the stabs data in the individual .o files. The .o files had to be present and all files had to be in the same location at runtime in order to debug a program.
The -xs option for stabs caused all the stabs data to be copied into the a.out. The a.out then became a stand-alone program for debugging. You could debug it anywhere, and the .o files were not referenced.
Using dwarf format, the a.out contains all the debug data. The size is only a bit larger than when using stabs with the -xs option.
Please note that the extra size is only on disk. The debug data is not loaded into the program. It is used only by the debugger.

  • Help! Starting Weblogic in Debug Mode

    Hi there
    Any clues/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Has anyone experienced any difficulties when starting weblogic in debug mode.
More specifically, it cannot start correctly because it thinks that another instance

The following error has nothing to do with running in debug mode?
It just means that there's another process already binded to port 8320
you might want to see the output of netstat -a
BTW, what flags you switched on to run the server in debug mode?

  • Debug mode for WD app in CE 7.1 EHP1

    Hi experts,
I need to debug a WebDynpro application that I have created in my CE7.1 EHP1 environment.
In the config tool for the Java instance, I have set "Debug Mode" to true and checked the "Enable Debug node" checkbox.
I restarted the server after this and in SAP MMC Snap In, found that the server0 is running and the Debug column also shows a stauts of Switched on(<<port number>>)
When I try to create a new Debug Configuration using the Debug Dialog in NWDS, I select SAP Application and attach the appropriate WD app to the configuration.
At this point, the server instance is automatically selected, but I get the following error message:
Runtime: No debuggable node available. Open a debug session in SAP Management Console first
    What might I be missing?
    Regards,
    Puja

    Hi guys,
about one year later I had the same problem as Puja Malhotra.
Gopala Krishna gave the correct answer but unfortunately he missed to offer the suitable help. So I will catch up
You have to set the values "debuggable", "debug mode" and "debug port" with the Config Tool to edit the JVM Settings for a Specific Instance.
    Have a look at:
    After restart it should work!
    Best regards

  • Project runs Ok in debug mode but not in release mode

I have an application developed with VC++ 6.0 and measurement studio. The application controls SCXI-1161/1166 relay boards to connect the UUT. The application runs ok in debug mode, but in release mode the application can't drive the relay boards. I have tried to change optimizations mode, it didn't work. Who can tell me how to solve the problem? Thanks!

It sounds like you have an older version of our SWITCH driver which relies on our DAQ driver. I would recommend uninstalling the Traditional DAQ, DAQmx, and SWITCH drivers and then installing the newest version. At this point you have 2 options:
    1) You can download Traditional DAQ 7.4, DAQmx 7.4, and NI-SWITCH 2.4 drivers bundled together here: ftp://ftp.ni.com/support/daq/pc/ni-daq/7.4/
    2) You can install the latest version: NI-DAQmx 7.5 here: http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/websearch/CF7ECCEA4C4CC7DE86257038004D88AE?opendocument&node=13206... This has support for all of our USB DAQ devices (if you're not using them then you may not want to worry about installing this now) and then install Traditional DAQ 7.4 here: http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/websearch/C36A54ADDA3DC33D86257038004E55E6?opendocument&node=13206... and NI-SWITCH 2.4 here: http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/websearch/9D6B8C7FD41BF3D08625702E0072E294?opendocument&node=13206...
    This should solve your problem.

    Hi ,
Whenever we restart the machine and debugging mode is switched off and we have to always switch it on manually from the NDS.
Is there some configuration awailable so that when we restart the machine and start the server it always starts with debugging switched on ?
    Regards,

    Hi Balaji,
open the Config Tool, select the desired instance_IDxxx->server_IDxxx. There's a tab "Debug", after selecting it set "Debuggable" and "Enabled debug mode" to checked.

  • Desktop Story fails to switch to online mode...

I have Story Pro and work on a Windows 7 PC. Since the update last night, the desktop app won't connect online. I have tried to uninstall it and reinstall it. I still dosen't work. I can access the Web version just fine. Here is the error message I keep getting:
Failed to switch to online mode. Please try again.
Please help with how to fix this problem. I'm trying to get everything ready to roll out story to our copywriters and editors.
Thanks In advance for everyone's help!

Can you Sign out from the AIR application and then sign back in? Once login happens try going online.
It would be great if your system is connected to internet while performing above steps.
If this doesn’t work out then we can have a quick connect session to debug the issue.
Send me your availability please so that I can setup the meeting.
