System Panic messag

Earlier this morning I got a system panic message, which read in part 'panic (cpu1 caller 0x662820): "therad_invoke: preemption_level -1, possible cause: unlocking an unlocked mutex or spinlock"@sourcecache/xnu/xnu-i486.2.11.asfmk/kern/sched_prim.c:1471'. The message, which was followed by some lines with hexidecimal numbers was displayed in the upper left corner of my screen.
It would not respond to the keyboard or mouse, so I pressed the power button.
I have not taken any further steps to fix this (since, so far it's only happened once). I have not installed any new hardware since I got this Mac. The most recent software I installed was an update to 1Password (yesterday), and removed some software I didn't want (Running Applications) according to instructions from the manufacturer. Otherwise I have not installed any new software in at least a month.
Perhaps it is worth mentioning that a few days ago, my system was REALLY slow, so I restarted it. Usually I just put it to sleep when I am not using it, as I use it every day for at least six hours.
The problem is now that some of my system preferences don't appear to be working properly, such as the keyboard preferences. I'd set "Move focus to the menu bar" to F2 (no modifier key), but now F2 doesn't do this (nor does Fn+F2, Ctrl+F2, CtrlFnF2. Do I need to reset my PRAM, simply reset all my system preferences to default or what?

  • Kernel Panic Message...Caused by new RAM???

Hey guys, just purchased 2x1gb ram from otherworldcomputing.com for my powerbook G4, im currently running the latest version I can possibly run which is 10.5.8  Everything seemed great when I put the RAM in, seemed like my computer was running pretty fast campared to the 512gb that came with the computer.  All of a sudden, while im searching the web, it throws that kernel panic message up at me.  I restarted and a few minutes later while im still on the web, bam, the same message.
I am currently in safe mode while Im writing this and nothing has happened yet(update:a few mintues after I finished typing this thread I received the same message, I have turned the computer off and jumped on my wiftes computer to type this I am thinking about putting the original 512mg ram back in to see if I get the message again)
Wierd, the first few days witht the new RAM everything seemed fine and then all of a sudden I got those messages.  I have never had the problem ever before so it makes sense that its gotta be the new RAM right?  Here are my specs

To eliminate RAM being the problem, Look at this link: Testing RAM @ http://guides.macrumors.com/Testing_RAM Then download & use Memtest & Ramber.
Do you have an Apple Hardware Test disc (the AHT is on the Install/Restore DVD that came with your Mac)? Running the Apple Hardware Test in Loop Mode is an excellent troubleshooting step for finding intermittent hardware problems. It is especially useful when troubleshooting intermittent kernel panics. If Loop Mode is supported by the version of the Apple Hardware Test you are using, you run the Extended Test in Loop Mode by pressing Control-L before starting the test. Looping On should appear in the right window. Then click the Extended Test button. The test will run continuously until a problem is found. If a problem is found, the test will cease to loop, indicating the problem it found. If the test fails, be sure to write down the exact message associated with the failure. In some cases, RAM problems did not show up until nearly 40 loops, so give it a good run.
     Cheers, Tom

  • System Panic Report

Off late, my system is hanging or freezing.  During a forced restart (stop the computer with power button and restart it after 20-30 seconds) it gives the start up chime.  It stops and user login screen.  When I type my pass word, the screen goes black and it gives me a message like system panic.  Before I could read the entire message, again the computer restarts and after user login, it either starts the computer or sometimes, again the same message appears and then starts the computer.
I have copied a system report message and posted here.  Please help me to solve this issue.

Please help me.  thanks in advance.

Hi, Tlix.  Thanks for your perfect answer.  Recently I bought Blackberry Z10 mobile phone and hence to connect with computer, I downloaded Blackberry Link.  Since then, I could notice some peculiarities in the behaviour of my computer.  Hanging, slow response and Blackberry Link quiting etc.  Your answer confirmed my doubts and I totally un-installed that application.  Since then, I didnt face any such issues.  thanks.  I didnt reply you immediately, since, I wanted to take time to confim that there are no such recurences of the past issues and panic reports.
Once again, Thanks to you and sorry for the time I took to post this.

  • What is causing these Youtube-related kernel panic messages?

I receive Kernel Panic messages while I watch videos on youtube. I have seen this problem cited in other forums, but I have been unable to find the solution.  I am aware that it is not the site itself that is causing the problem.  I can watch other videos and use video editing software without incidence, but youtube videos always cause the kernel panic after watching about a dozen (or sometimes fewer) videos.
Below is a copy of the kernel panic report for your information.  I'm looking forward to finding the solution to this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Requina

I'm having the same problem. Other video sites (Hulu, Vimeo) work fine. Youtube videos crash immediately (but not during the ads, only when the main video starts). The screen goes all crazy (as in weird colors and stuff) and the computer unresponsive.

  • Panic message restart grey and black screen

    WOONT RE BOOT OR START
Computer froze and after manual power down and restart, grey and black screen appeared with a message to hold powwer button down to power off and then hold power button again to restart. I did and got same screen and message. "PANIC"  and "Debugger called: <panic>" message in background.

    Hi Fred,
Is this happening for all Flash content or just your website?  Can you give us a link so we can take a look?  Can you also please post back with your system's configuration report?
    Windows Instructions
    Mac Instructions
Please check to see if you are using the NPAPI version of the Flash Player plugin in Chrome.  Let me know if you need instructions on how to do this.  If you are, please try switching back to the PPAPI version to see if that corrects the problem.
I'm moving this post over to the Flash Player beta forum.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Please help interpreting kernel panic message

    Hello.
Could anyone please help me to interpret the kernel panic message (below) I received today. I have had several such events recently, and I have already read and implemented the suggestions regarding resolving kernel panics listed on the X-Lab's X-FAQs website. I have run all the repair and diagnostic stuff that is usually recommended to other people posting questions about resolving kernel panics. I don't have anything plugged into my Mac except the keyboard and mouse, and I know that I could take my computer to a shop and have someone look it over.
My specific question is this: Can anyone interpret the actual content of this particular kernel panic message and give me any clue as to the likely source or cause of the problem, or what is happening?
I hope that no one is offended by my posting since I am not an expert who regularly uses this forum.
    Thank you very much!

    Hi, Chris and Maxit —
    Was this a one-time problem?
I claim no particular expertise, but I don't see much in the panic.log that helps to isolate a specific underlying cause.
That is, except for Maxit's rationale. Because the backtrace indicates that the exception occurred upon loading the IOAudioFamily .kext (driver, or extension "family"), related hardware &/or driver compatibility would typically be worth exploring. Please check to be sure that you've disconnected all non-critical peripherals & disabled login items and any "system enhancers" while you're troubleshooting this problem.
The 0x300 DAR (data access register) trap is probably the most common type of exception that causes kernel panics. It simply indicates that the processor couldn't perform a data memory access. This could be due to a programming issue or a hardware problem (e.g., "bad" RAM, HD corruption).
If the problem recurs without any more specific indication from a panic.log or, e.g., console.log entr(ies), I suggest you diligently work through the course of action presented in Resolving kernel panics.
Sorry I can't offer anything more magically insightful.

  • Understanding a panic message

Hi I'm hoping someone can help shed some insight. I have a mid2010 Macbook pro it's been restarting everyday with this panic message. Can anyone make sense of it?

Mid-2010 15" MacBook Pros - the bad NVIDIA GPU
If you're having frequent kernel panics with your 15" mid-2010, or intermittent screen problems, the problem is, more than likely, the faulty NVIDIA GPU found in a number of those machines.
Here's just a sample of a kernel panic log that points to the faulty NVIDIA card:
Kernel Extensions in backtrace (with dependencies):
             com.apple.GeForce(6.4.0)@0x82ac4000->0x82b7afff
                dependency: com.apple.NVDAResman(6.4.0)@0x834a0000
                dependency: com.apple.iokit.IONDRVSupport(2.2.1)@0x82fd3000
                dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(2.6.5)@0x7a802000
                dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOGraphicsFamily(2.2.1)@0x8301b000
             com.apple.nvidia.nv50hal(6.4.0)@0x83c05000->0x84019fff

Here's the "official" Apple take on the issue - but the very real kernel panics need not be preceded by 'Intermittent black screen or loss of video'... in fact, you might not experience any video problems at all. Although video problems can certainly be a portent of things to come…
So what can you do? Print out a copy of your kernel panic and a copy of the Knowledge Base article and take them, along with your machine, to your local Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. They should be more than willing to install a new logic board at no cost. I have no idea why this faulty GPU is making the headline here on the MacBook Pro forum so often now - could it be because Mountain Lion is just bringing the issue to a head more readily? I don't know - I only know that we're seeing more and more of these kernel panics of late.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • System crash and system panic

Hi, I am jus a beginner in solaris. I have few questions to ask. Please help. Thanks
    1) if the system crash, wat are the steps to do? check error message? please giv in detail.
    2) if the system panic, wat are the steps to do? boot CD-ROM and remove some of the files?
if it is a mirror, wat should I do? break the mirror and remove the files in these 2 hardisks?
    3) Any good website to learn about system crash and panic, and troubleshooting case study?
    thanks
    regards,
    raymond

Hi, when system panic, am i still able to boot up to single user mode or multiuser mode? last time when my senior face this problem, he said he cant boot up. and remain in OK prompt. then he said the system panic is becoz of the hdd or mount point is full (95%). so he said jus remove some of the files to reduce the size, then do fsck -f, and then boot up.
    is it correct?
since not able to boot up to init 3, so how to boot hardisk (as u mentioned)?
anyther thing, about the crashdump and coredump, i know how to configure and enable it. but is it the files vmcore.0 and unix.0 useful? but as i know that we r hard to read these files.

  • Roles in satellite system for message creator

while creating support message in satellite syatem, i am getting the following error.
Error in Local Message System: No authorization to logon as trusted system (Trust Message was Not Created
    Message no. BCOS088
what role i have to give it to the message creator @ satellite system

    Hi.
Looks like you are using a trusted connection (maintained in table BCOS_CUST) to connect your satellite system to the Solution Manager.
If you keep this configuration every user who tries to create a support message in your satellite system also needs a real user in the Solution Manager (including authorization objects S_RFC and S_RFC_ACL).
Instead you should use the SM_<your sol man>_BACK destination and set NO_USER_CHECK=X in Tx: DNO_CUST04 (SolMan).
Also you should create a Business Partner in SolMan (for each user who should be able to create a support message in satellite system) with external ID referring to the satellite system user.
You do not need a user in SolMan for everyone who should be able to create a support message from satellite system.
    Hope this helps.
    /cheers
