T61 stopped during normal use

My T61 got locked during normal use and I had to press the power button to force it to power off. After that when I try to power on again nothing appears in the screen . I can see that the LEDs of the HD are blinking, Bluetooth is also "on", but no message or sound.
If I press any switch in the keyboard for long time the buffer gets full and It emits a beep sound, so looks like something is working.
Also, I can not access BIOS during the start-up.
Does anyone can help to solve this problem?
Thank you in advance!

I've helped dozens of members solve the problem, you'd need a board that isn't affected with this problem. They are rare but can be obtained. If you'd like me to check what is available you can send me a PM and we can discuss it. I also have a test you can do that may help to confirm if it's actually the gpu

  • IPod passes Apple battery test but only lasts 2hrs during normal use

I have a 1st generation iPod mini; the battery has been acting up lately. I have done Apple's battery test a few times; each time the battery lasts for 6-8 hrs. However, during normal use, it lasts only 1.5-2hrs, even after a full charge.
I have this problem even when the backlight and the EQ is off. Also, the battery dies, even though the battery meter is half full. If I immediatly turn on the iPod, the meter is empty, but after 20 min, it's half full again. When I try to play music, it turns off.
On top of this, the battery takes a minmum of 8hrs to fully charge!
    Please help...!

My ipod mini 2nd generation was like this too.. it would reset itself resetting the time also for no reason every 20mins.. and it wouldnt hold a charge.. i sent it in thursday and i should get it back this week.. if your ipod is in warranty.. send it back asap!

  • Passwords will dissappear (during normal use). Happened twice. WHY?

I want to know why my saved passwords will disappear unexpectedly during normal FireFox use. I have to restore the passwords from a USB storage stick.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

  • MacBook Pro Health and safety issue: Potential Burn during normal use

    Hi,
I am not a complainer. I worked for Apple of 6+ years and have had a top of the line Apple Notebook since Apple created the concept of the laptop notebook.
I recently experienced a 3rd degree burn using my MacBook Pro that I think Apple needs to warn folks about:
    MacBook Pro 17"
    Machine Model: MacBookPro1,2
    CPU Type: Intel Core Duo
    Number Of Cores: 2
    CPU Speed: 2.16 GHz
    L2 Cache (shared): 2 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 667 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: MBP12.0061.B00
    Serial Number: ()
    SMC Version: 1.5f10
    Sudden Motion Sensor:
    State: Enabled
I had my laptop on my lap. I was wearing shorts. It noticed that it was warm on my leg where the left side of the MacBook Pro was touching my leg, but it didn't create a reflex pain response.
Upon completing my session, when I closed the machine and put it away, I noticed a 1 inch x .75 inch blister on my leg where it had been touching the MacBook/Pro; and it has turn out to be a significant burn.
I checked all the documentaiton that came with my MacBook Pro and there was no warning about the potential of this situation.
I recommend that Apple let owners know, perhaps through an email or a popup when they visit the Apple site. Lastly, when I encountered this issue, I wasn't running any high performance, compute bound applications. It was email. So, I have to believe that it is possible to detect wait states within the processes running and take the processors to a low power mode of operation when they are not performing actual work. Am I out in left field here?
I want Apple to be successful. I haven't heard of a similar complaint on any of the high performance PC's at work. Beyond a Health and Safety issue, this is also a reputation issue. Better to face into the storm and honestly deal with this issue.

MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.5) Potential Health and Safety Issue- 3rd degreee burn potential under normal use

Mike... I do sympathize with your situation but let me correct you:
I recently experienced a 3rd degree burn using my
    MacBook Pro
Do you know what a 3rd degree burn is? A 3rd degree burn involves the dermis, and is full thickness involving the subcutaneous tissues and fat underneath your skin layers. This is something that usually happens when man meets fire, electrocution, and chemical burns. A 3rd degree burn is not typically achieved by a simple transfer of energy by conduction, unless extreme heat for an extended period of time.
I had my laptop on my lap. I was wearing shorts. It
noticed that it was warm on my leg where the left
side of the MacBook Pro was touching my leg, but it
didn't create a reflex pain response.
Reflex pain response? Don't try to make up medical terminology. You didn't feel it much like you don't feel the sun when you get a sunburn initially... your skin slowly adjusted to the temperature, and at some point the heat increased over the threshold of which causes damage. You should have gone to the doctor if you were overly concerned.
Upon completing my session, when I closed the machine
    and put it away, I noticed a 1 inch x .75 inch
blister on my leg where it had been touching the
MacBook/Pro; and it has turn out to be a significant
    burn.
You're right, if you have a 1inch by almost 1 inch heat related blister on your leg, it is bad, nothing that I would consider significant. That is less then 1% of your body, probably about 0.25% to 0.5%, and only a 2nd degree burn. Your most significant complication would be a local skin infection.
I checked all the documentaiton that came with my
MacBook Pro and there was no warning about the
    potential of this situation.
Actually... I'd hate to call you a liar, but I'm pretty sure that it does warn about burns.
To confirm this, apple has also information online:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=30612
I recommend that Apple let owners know, perhaps
through an email or a popup when they visit the Apple
    site.
    They do... link above.
Lastly, when I encountered this issue, I wasn't
running any high performance, compute bound
applications. It was email. So, I have to believe
that it is possible to detect wait states within the
processes running and take the processors to a low
power mode of operation when they are not performing
actual work. Am I out in left field here?
No, you're definitely not. Here's where I start to agree with you. For the computer to heat up that much, when not doing things like rendering video is abnormal, and you deserve to have apple check out your computer. I think you should contact them on this concern.
I want Apple to be successful. I haven't heard of a
similar complaint on any of the high performance PC's
at work. Beyond a Health and Safety issue, this is
also a reputation issue. Better to face into the
storm and honestly deal with this issue.
It's harder for other manufacturers... our computers are aluminum, designed to disperse the heat. Technically they are considered "portables" not laptops, but I don't get into that argument because I disagree with the word "portable"... it's meant to work on your lap, and if you can't comfortably using regular apps, you deserve an answer.
A slightly crisp, but loyal, MacBook Pro user.
Hey, at least you're taking it with some humor. It's a shame you had to get hurt as a result of your computer. If I were you I would have gone to your Primary Care Physician, documented the burn, and returned your computer for a new one, and for something say, a free iPod for your pain.
Sorry you got hurt, I think you should have your heat issue professionally investigated through apple care

  • Grey screen appears during normal use

I have never seen this before and the other discussions seemed to be more about restart.
Normal startup, normal login and possible to use the iMac normally for a random but short period then all of the sudden grey screen. Blank grey screen.
Reset PRAM and smc, Verified Disk (OK), checked and fixed one permission and there is a lot of free space.
Does anyone have any other ideas that I could check.
    Much appreciated

    Hello,
Open console in Applications>Utilities, check the system log for the date/time of the last problem  & the Startup right after that for clues.
Have you blown the dust out lately?
Get Temperature Monitor to see if it's heat related...
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/12381/temperature-monitor
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts (Users & Groups in later OSX versions)>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • Is there a function to send window id's to TS to use for placement of the standard panels/windows that are created during normal TS operation?

I have asked this question previously in a different manner and have not received any useful hints. I want to manage the placement of all of the standard TS windows/panels during normal operation of TS.
    Thanks in advance,

    Paul,
I am assuming that you are talking about the File Dialog when you select "Open Sequence File..." from the menu.  The code for the dialog is encapsulated as a command in the Operator Interface.  If you look in the TestStand help, under Command Kinds, you can see all the coded commands that will cause the OI to respond.  The CommandKind_OpenSequenceFile command is what causes the File Dialog to popup.  When the user selects the proper file and chooses to Open the dialog, the OpenSequenceFile command triggers a DisplaySequenceFile event.  This event is handled by the Application Manager with a callback function (or VI if you are using LabVIEW).  The SequenceFile gets updated in the SequenceFileView manager.  Unfortunately, much of this code is handled internally by the Operator Interface manager controls.  The File Dialog is simply a function that gets called, and the Window handle is never really accessed by the OI developer.
You may have a few options, however.  There may be a Windows kernel function, that accesses child Window handles.  I would search MSDN for any functions that will help access Window handles.
The other option is to implement the File Open dialog yourself.  I believe, the File Chooser is a standard dialog popup, that you can call from most programming languages that are accessing Windows functionality.  However, you should trigger the DisplaySequenceFile event after the user selects a file.  This will cause the SequenceFileView manager to be udpated with the proper sequence file.
I have not tried either of these implementations.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Tyler T.

  • Ever seen the error "ialmrnt5 display driver has stopped working normally"?

Have a user who hasn't used E-test in about a year. He has version 8.01.0249 with IE 7.0 and is getting an error running a script: "Windows display driver stopped responding. The ialmrnt5 display driver has stopped working normally . . . .".
On a different machine with E-test 7.0 with IE 7.0, the same script works fine.
Should I have him upgrade to version 8.20.0526? Also, assuming I upgrade his version, why does the same script work with E-test 7.0?
    THANKS!

    Hi,
It would be better to upgrade to version 8.20.0526. Prior to eTest Suite 8.20.x there was no support for IE 7. There were some cases where eTest Suite would work with IE 7, but it was not consistent since the product did not has IE 7 contemplated in the design. That can explain why it works with e-Test Suite 7.0.
Additionally in 8.20.526 there are several additional features that makes the tasks easier, and there are several bug corrections that can save you time when troubleshooting scripts.
If you are planning to use eTester for Load testing scripts I would recommend moving to 8.20.0569, which has additional bug fixes that can save you a call to support.
You may want to contact your Empirix Sales Rep in order to know if your license would work with the latest version of e-Test Suite or just install it and try the license.
Once you install e-Test Suite 8.20 make a quick test to see if it works with your web application, then, consider the alternative of upgrading all the other computers that will have eTest Suite. It's better to work in a consistent environment where everybody has the same version because you will ensure compatibility of scripts and configuration settings, it will be easier to maintain your environment, and it will be easier to troubleshoot computer problems since you should all have the same configuration.
e-Test Suite 7.0 may not be supported since it's older than two releases than the current one, even if the script work with e-Test Suite 7.0 I would look for the upgrade.

  • ICR Process 003 - Should postings be stopped during activation of database

In our first go-live of ICR we only use process 003 and have no additional special ledger in scope for this phase. We have seen a recommendation that all postings should be stopped during activation of database. Is that really also valid if we only consider our scope above.
    Thanks for your comments!

    Hello Istvan,
Even though you do not create a Special Purpose Ledger the ICR program still require the general SL posting framework to be generated. This can lead to issues if data is posted when the generation is performed.

  • HD 5770 HAWK: ati2dvag display driver has stopped working normally

I keep crashing to desktop with an error dialog "ati2dvag display driver has stopped working normally" while playing Trackmania United. The crash is into a 640x480 4-bit color desktop from 1920x1080 32-bit.  I updated to latest drivers for the video card and bios, and I am not maxing out my card when playing this game, it is fairly average.  I don't get this error playing other games on higher settings.  This behavior is fairly consistent.  Additionally in TMU I keep having saturation and contrast flactuations: saturation loops between highly saturated to barely saturated and then repeates over about 30sec-1min.  The looping is very smooth.  Any help in resolving this issue is appreciated.  Thanks

Well, any window I have open on the desktop, iTunes, Firefox, IE, etc when I move that window around, or if I resize it, the content inside that application window is repainted very sluggishly.  I would say it takes about 1/8 to 1/4 of a second to redraw.  With iTunes I can see the repaint take maybe 1/2 second from top to bottom.
This happens at any time I am in the desktop.
That sounds like there's something not right with the graphics drivers.
Also, check your monitor refresh rate is set right.
How about testing with some older drivers to see if there's any change. Either use the ones from the CD that came with the graphics card or use the ones in this >>link.<<
A useful utility to remove old parts of drivers is Driver Cleaner Pro. You might want to give it a go if you choose to try other drivers. Available >>here.<<

    Hi Midnightbrat,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The troubleshooting steps for the camera on the iPad are similar to the iPhone:  I've highlighted the pertinent steps below:
    Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
    Camera
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tapping Settings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Third-party cases can interfere with the autofocus/exposure feature and the flash; try removing the case if you have image-quality issues with photos.
Try turning the iPad off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try switching between the front and the back cameras to verify if the issue persists on both.
I hope this information helps ....
    Have a great day!

  • Hangs after 20-30 minutes of normal use

    Hi everyone,
I have a MacBookPro 8,1 (8GB/500GB SSD). It was working well with 10.8.
I overwrote it to 10.9.1 few weeks ago. All of sudden it started hanging (rainbow clock spins forever) after 20-30 minutes of normal use.
I initialized the SSD drive, and reinstalled fresh copy of 10.9.1. During last 5 minutes of migration, it hung again. I forced quit everything, and reinitialized the drive, and reinstalled it again, but no luck. It even hangs under safe boot.
I zapped pram, reset smc, and ran disk utility. Nothing helps...I assume this is a hardware issue, but need your advice.
    Anybody have any ideas?
    Please advise.
    Take good care,

  • My project stops during playing

    Good day!
I have a Project, want publish it, but when I desided to check it, I saw a mistake - It stops during playing slide - when the headline appears...And I have to press ">" button to play this slide at all.

    Hello again
Well, I'm not sure I saw where the actual VERSION of Captivate you are using was mentioned, but for me, it's version 7. And in that version, if you click a Button and look at the Properties panel in the Timing section, you should find a check box that you are able to clear. At that point, the object will no longer cause the slide to pause.
You may need to clear this for all three buttons.
    Cheers... Rick
