Tablespace Complete Restore problem.

Hi Team,
I am working on the Oracle 9i tablespace backup & restore operation.
For backup I am using the following script.
run
BACKUP TABLESPACE 'CWMLITE' INCLUDE CURRENT CONTROLFILE FORMAT 'C:\BK\CWMLITE_%d_01';
BACKUP TABLESPACE 'DRSYS' INCLUDE CURRENT CONTROLFILE FORMAT 'C:\BK\DRSYS_%d_01';
Now when I restore back the above tabalespaces using script.
run
SQL 'ALTER TABLESPACE "CWMLITE" ONLINE';
SQL 'ALTER TABLESPACE "DRSYS" ONLINE';
SQL 'ALTER TABLESPACE "CWMLITE" OFFLINE IMMEDIATE';
SQL 'ALTER TABLESPACE "DRSYS" OFFLINE IMMEDIATE';
restore tablespace 'CWMLITE' , 'DRSYS' ;
recover tablespace 'CWMLITE' , 'DRSYS' ;
SQL 'ALTER TABLESPACE "CWMLITE" ONLINE';
SQL 'ALTER TABLESPACE "DRSYS" ONLINE';
it gives me following prompts as
either readonly, offline, or already restored...
As following....
using target database controlfile instead of recovery catalog
sql statement: ALTER TABLESPACE "CWMLITE" OFFLINE IMMEDIATE
sql statement: ALTER TABLESPACE "DRSYS" OFFLINE IMMEDIATE
Starting restore at 13-DEC-06
allocated channel: ORA_DISK_1
channel ORA_DISK_1: sid=11 devtype=DISK
skipping datafile 3; already restored to file C:\NEW\ORADATA\ITPL\CWMLITE01.DBF
skipping datafile 4; already restored to file C:\NEW\ORADATA\ITPL\DRSYS01.DBF
restore not done; all files readonly, offline, or already restored
Finished restore at 13-DEC-06
Starting recover at 13-DEC-06
using channel ORA_DISK_1
starting media recovery
media recovery complete
Finished recover at 13-DEC-06
sql statement: ALTER TABLESPACE "CWMLITE" ONLINE
sql statement: ALTER TABLESPACE "DRSYS" ONLINE
But If I run the same script once again it works & will not prompts me the readonly, offline, or already restored & also restore the tablespaces properly
RMAN> run
2> {
3> SQL 'ALTER TABLESPACE "CWMLITE" OFFLINE IMMEDIATE';
4> SQL 'ALTER TABLESPACE "DRSYS" OFFLINE IMMEDIATE';
5> restore tablespace 'CWMLITE' , 'DRSYS' ;
6> recover tablespace 'CWMLITE' , 'DRSYS' ;
7> SQL 'ALTER TABLESPACE "CWMLITE" ONLINE';
8> SQL 'ALTER TABLESPACE "DRSYS" ONLINE';
9> }

sql statement: ALTER TABLESPACE "CWMLITE" ONLINE
sql statement: ALTER TABLESPACE "DRSYS" ONLINE
Why its behaving this strange way.
am I going wrong anywhere ? Plz suggest.

Hi ebrian,
Sorry for that additional online command.
It is not in the actual script.
The script is like only.
run
SQL 'ALTER TABLESPACE "CWMLITE" OFFLINE IMMEDIATE';
SQL 'ALTER TABLESPACE "DRSYS" OFFLINE IMMEDIATE';
restore tablespace 'CWMLITE' , 'DRSYS' ;
recover tablespace 'CWMLITE' , 'DRSYS' ;
SQL 'ALTER TABLESPACE "CWMLITE" ONLINE';
SQL 'ALTER TABLESPACE "DRSYS" ONLINE';
& still it fails at first restore , but when we execute the same script second time , it works..
plz comment,

  • Yosemite time machine file restore problem

    I'm trying to restore some files (iPhone backups) in OS X Yosemite, but am encountering a problem.
    I can locate the files I need in Time Machine. When I hit restore the 'Star Wars' UI exits as I would expect, and the 'preparing to copy files' dialogue box appears.
    At this point, it goes no further. I also get the following message in the console:
    15/11/2014 6:00:30.406 am Finder[236]: setting error: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=3840 "The data couldn’t be read because it isn’t in the correct format." (Unexpected character ‰ at line 1) UserInfo=0x60800067d7c0 {NSDebugDescription=Unexpected character ‰ at line 1, kCFPropertyListOldStyleParsingError=The data couldn’t be read because it isn’t in the correct format.}
    Any advice on how to address this will be greatly appreciated. I'm currently verifying the backup in Time Machine, but other than that I'm out of ideas.

    Jimbo, have you looked in the system’s Trash?  Just see if it needs to be emptied to free up space.  As Eric mentioned, I’ve only done a complete restore by wiping the disk, reinstalling the OS, etc. so I’m just guessing in your situation something is still lying around.
    You could also look in Spotlight for a folder (whose full name I can’t recall now) that begins with the name “Previous System” or something like that in your boot drive; it is created to archive your previous system in case you want to revery to an earlier version.  If your system is fine now, it is safe to delete that folder - just remember to empty the Trash.

  • My ipad freezed even after a complete restore

    I am having issues of my i-pad freezing or getting a blank screen while using it.  We have done a complete restoration of the system and the problem still persists.  Any suggestions?

    Did you restore as new and start all over again adding your content in bits and pieces? If you restored as new and than restored from a backup, the backup might be corrupt and that could be causing your problems.

  • HT201412 I have restored my iphone 5 for the second time now, and it keeps crushing after 1hour of having completely restored it through iTunes. What am I supposed to do?

    I have restored my iphone 5 for the second time today, and it keeps crushing after 1hour of having completely restored it through iTunes. What am I supposed to do? I deleted some apps I had recently installed, even changed the background refresh. What else?

    Well... it said iPhone Recovery Mode, and I pressed 'Restore iPhone' after which it asked me if I am sure that I want to restore the phone to factory settings, I pressed 'yes'. After 20-30min it eventually came to the 'Hello' page where I had to sign in with my Apple ID, and then saw the icons of each of my apps. which one by one turned from grey to their full colour as they downloaded one by one. After 1-2 hours of having completed all the app downloads, I found the phone shut and could not turn it on with the normal way. And this happened after 2 restore sessions. Is there something I need to do, or I need to request a replacement. I have had the phone for 11months, and crushing problems begun on the 13 of Nov, which was a few days after I updated to iOS7. But today is already 48hours since I have not been able to use my iPhone properly.

  • Why did my camera flash and flashlight quit working on iPod 5 I did a complete restore and still nothing only had for a week can't believe it would be broken already

    Why did my camera flash and flashlight quit working on iPod 5 I did a complete restore just to see and still nothing have only had for a week so I can't believe it would be broken already any ideas

    If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

  • Time machine/iPhoto restore problem

    I upgraded from my late 2009 iMac to the new iMac. I used my time machine drive to completely restore everything. When I opened iPhoto all of the photos seem to be there. The problem is that iPhoto went from being 73 gb in size to 65 gb in size. Does anyone know why this would happen? Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

    There is an "iPod cache" file in your iPhoto library that doesn't get backed up. A few users have reported that it can eat up many GBs.

  • Can I do a complete restore from time machine to get rid of Itunes 11?

    I know this might be a stupid question...and I also know it might be complete overkill but I absolutely hate Itunes 11 and I desperately want to go back to the previous version. I always back up to an external hard drive once a week using time machine. Time machine make a complete backup of my system. Since I am not so computer literate I was wondering if it would be easier for me to just completely restore to my previous backup, 1 week before i installed itunes 11. I have read over the forums and there seem to be other ways of doing this but it seems really complicated. i realize I will lose everything from then until now but I am willing to do that if it's easier....any thoughts??
    Any help would be much appreciated...

    oh...totally forgot to reply....
    yes the restore worked, but after that i had to import all songs, tv shows and movies into itunes...took hours....
    but otherwise, no problems. i would suggest to export your playlists before and import them after the restore.
    otherwise they are gone.....
    but i am really happy to have 10.7 back...11 is really buggy even after 11.01 they still didnt fix
    these bugs....lucky i have a macbook, to try....in future i will always do the updates on the macbook
    to avoid these stupid and time consuming surprises.
    i am now on mac for abt 1.5 years, and this is the worst i have seen them doing....hope they will fix this soon.

  • HT201250 How to do a complete restore from Time Machine

    My MacBook Pro is giving me all kinds of problems.  I have a complete backup on TimeMachine.  How do I do a complete restore of everything?

    I'm Assuming this is going to fix things!  Sure make sense.  The backup is just going SO SLOWLY.  as in a few Kb  when there's 300GB total.  The last backup was Oct 4, so I'm hoping that's the issue.  But also, if verify disk says disk is corrupt and needs repaired, maybe it won't do a complete backup.  I'm going to let it backup overnight and see if it's done in the morning before restarting in "Recovery HD"  You've been very helpful so far. Thanks SO much.  I'll add more when I've been able to follow your instructions.

  • Since the update to iOS 5 I've been unable to access the Restrictions section in Settings. I didn't forget since it was the same as my unlock passcode and that works. Is there anyway to reset that without a complete restore?

    Hi,
    Thanks! I forgot to add, I have debonded and rebonded the bluetooth in car and phone and have carried out 3 restores on the phone in my ITunes. All to no avail. I have also jsut spent £40 on a lead from Ford that has made no difference too! I went to them today to request a software upgrade on my car as I though perhaps the lack of connectivity in the car was down to the car being behind the iOS5 software but was informed there was no need for an upgrade and this problem is purely an apple problem! Is there any way around the downgrade? Or are apple gong to resolve this problem at all??

    If the silent switch is off, no change after inserting and removing the earbuds or headset cable a number of times, and the same after restoring your iPhone as a new iPhone or not from the backup, your iPhone has a hardware problem.
    The iPhone includes a one year warranty.

    Did you make sure that your security software allows iTunes to contact Apple during the restore process? http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3125

  • Cansomeone please tell me what the simplest way is to backup your files from you Mac and then completely restore it back to when I first bought it? I do not want to download or purchase any software, and I would like to keep my important files-pics, music

    I just would like to completely reset my MAC. I dont want to have to download or purchase a software to download, and I dont quite understand what the time machine is supposed to do if you have not been told to use if before. Shouldn't mac have some type of in home software already installed? And how can I completely restore my mac back to its original system?

    1: Connect a external powered drive like a Firewire or USB drive. If you question the drive format or need to format it, first do that in Disk Utility before transfering any files to the drive. MSDOS, FAT32 or exFAT is best for any Windows or Mac to access the files.
    2: Transfer your files manually by dragging and dropping your Users Folders like Pictures, Movies, Documents and Music (do not use TimeMachine!!) Eject the drive and disconnect from the computer.
    3: Next insert the cd that came with your computer and reboot holding c
    4: Two screens in is a menu option called "Utilities" select Disk Utility.
    5: On the left is your internal boot drive, select it and Erase > Format HFS+ Journaled > Security Option > Zero All Data. Wait about a hour or so until it's finished.
    6: When it's done, quit and your back in the installer again, install OS X and when finished, shut down.
    The next time the computer reboots, it will go through the "welcome" video and the initial setup, just like a new Mac.

  • I recently had to completely restore my laptop, so I lost the music on my itunes. It's still on my iphone, but how can I keep the music I already have and continue to add more music from the newly set up itunes again?

    I recently had to completely restore my laptop, so I lost the music on my itunes. It's still on my iphone, but how can I keep the music I already have and continue to add more music from the newly set up itunes again? Is there actually a way to do this? I can't help but wonder what the stupid icloud is for if my music is still somewhere in the 'cloud' but it's zero help for restoring music when it's lost on a computer....any help even a site that get's around apple would be great!

    It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
    Have you failed to do this?
    If so, not good, you can transfer itunes purchases from the iphone to your computer.  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
    You can also redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:

  • Findind my backed up files after a complete restore

    I just had to do a complete restore on my laptop and i really need help finding all of my files i had backed up i cannot find them and there were pics and imprtant legal documents on there please some one help me.....

    Was the backup the backup performed during the recovery to an external device (DVDs, flash drive, external drive, etc.)?
    What was the target backup device?
    This document covers the basics of how this process should work.  Additionally, there should be a recovery executable (might not be called recovery, but should indicate that is what it's for) in the backup media.  If it's a disk, this would be on DVD 1.
    What is the exact model of the notebook?  I might be able to find something a little more specific if I know which model the notebook is.
    NOTE: Do NOT provide the serial number.
