Task is hanging ....

Hi,
While running a task from a ExecutorService, task is hanging ....
Controller :-
ExecutorService   service= Executors.newFixedThreadPool(2, new ThreadFactory() {
            @Override
            public Thread newThread(Runnable r) {
                Thread t=new Thread(r);
                t.setDaemon(true);
                return t;
        for(Worker w:table.getItems())
            service.execute(w);
Worker :-
public class Worker extends Task{
int contentLength=connection.getContentLength();
            if(contentLength<1){
                error("Content Length :"+String.valueOf(contentLength));
            System.out.println("Size :"+contentLength);
try {
while(status==DOWNLOADING){
start=System.currentTimeMillis();
int read=stream.read(buffer);
end=System.currentTimeMillis();
System.out.println("Start:"+start+" End :"+end+" Diff :"+(end-start));
rate=(1024/(end-start));
System.out.println("Rate :"+rate+" KBps");
} catch (IOException  ex) {
            System.out.println("Error :"+ex.toString());
If I comment calculating rate and displaying it task is working fine else it will run up to printing Size of File. Its also not throwing any Exception.
Please Help!!!
Thank in Advance
  Lijo

If I would hazard a guess, I would think that the while on line 30 is a busy loop (= while(true)). This might either be because the status is never updated, or the update is not visible in the current thread (status should be volatile).

  • Deploy Adobe Creative Cloud Issue

    Hi,
    I am creating application of Adobe Creative Cloud in SCCM 2012 R2. In the User Experience I selected "Install for System" like other applications. When I install it from Software Center, Software Center closes itself in the end of installation
    (all Adobe application is installed and work properly). If I try to open Software Center, it shows error "Loading software center returned error code 0x80041001(-2147217407)." But, it is back to normally after a reboot. I added it
    into Windows 8.1 task sequence, task sequence hangs at installing this application.
    When I select "Install for User" in User Experience, then it works perfect in Software Center, however, I cannot use it in any task sequence.
    Any suggestion to solve this?
    Thanks!

    Can't crop pictures. Too slow. Both desktop and laptop are doing same thing.
    Rcently installed CS6 on two machines.
    All updates installed.
    No viruses detected.

    Desktop - Windows 7/CS6 8GB RAM
    When I crop a photo the task just hangs. The green progress bar hardly moves.
    There never used to be a progress bar when I cropped a photo. It just cropped the photo, real fast.

  • How to change from SLIM to KDM?

    Hello,
    I'm using the MATE desktop, OpenBox as window manager and SLIM for login.
    I'm starting to feel tired of not being able to change between various desktops without closing the main one, I mean, with OpenSUSE Ctrl+Alt+F1 to F6 are terminal ttys (it is so with Arch+SLIM too), Ctrl+Alt+F7 to F12 are graphical ttys, you can change between any of them and log in as any user you want without closing the F7 tty, or closing it, or doing whatever you want. This was petty cool in order to kill some broken task that hanged the screen or in order to do whatever.
    May I don't know how to do it with SLIM, but anytime I do Crtl+Alt+F9, for example, I just got a blank screen with an hyphen blinking. With OpenSUSE I got a graphical login screen.
    More:
    I've got installed OpenBox, MATE and enlightenment. It is suppose me to be able to change between them pressing F1, and in fact SLIM changes where says "session: XXXX" between them at the login screen, but whatever I choose SLIM ALWAYS log me in MATE. I've got to change it manually in ~/.xinitrc and logout and login again every time I want to change between sessions. I cannot do it directly at the login screen.
    Sometimes after login out and login in several times SLIM hangs and I have to reboot.
    I think all these problems comes from slim, and since with OpenSUSE, that use kdm, I had no problem I want to try kdm as login manager, but I haven't seen any guide to do it if you've got a login manager already installed. I've seen it just if it is the first system installatio. And I'm a little scared of breaking my login and spend too much time fixing it.
    How can I change from SLIM to KDM without pain?

    WOW, I had to install kdebase-workspace and it installed as dependency a functional kde system . And... I was able to choose between all the other desktops but MATE, so... kdm and all that it installed with it's already uninstalled
    But with kdm I was able to open an enlightenment session in tty 8 without closing kde in tty 7...
    ewaller wrote:Install kdm.
    Disable the slim service using systemctl
    Enable the kdm service using systemctl
    No need to uninstall slim.  Hang on to it until everything is working
    Thank you ewaller, it worked perfectly
    Scimmia wrote:Well changing to kdm is as simple as using systemctl to disable slim and enable kdm.That won't get you graphical logins on tty8+, though.
    So, how can I do it with slim?
    Raynman wrote:Do you really need a GUI to kill a program?
    No, I don't, it was just an example.
    Sounds like your xinitrc isn't quite right, check the wiki page for slim.
    I'm tired of reviewing my xinitrc in order to make slim let me choose my desktop. I think the F1 to change the session is experimental. I will open other thread in order to get some help or in order to help SLIM to solve this problem.
    And you could try LightDM instead (because KDM probably pulls in some KDE crap). It comes with dm-tool (and a replacement for gdmflexiserver) to start a new session on another tty.
    Sounds good. I'll try to make slim work perfectly and if I don't get it to work as perfectly I want I'll try other login managers.

  • SAP IDM 7.0 connecting to SAP GRC 10.1

    Hi Gurus,
    I was looking into connecting SAP IDM 7.0 with SAP GRC AC 10.1 and I cannot find a suitable connector for this.
    Could any of you provide some guidance on how to make this connections.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Juan

    If i remember correctly the 7.0 version had only mx_provision, mx_deprovision and mx_modify -tasks so the integration would have be built on these tasks. As there is no validate add task to hang the GRC call GRC would have to do provisioning.
    7.0 datamodel is different than 7.2, I haven't studied in detail but would guess there is enough difference also in the tables that store tasks/jobs etc that the 7.2 GRC provisioning framework would not   even import to 7.0. You would need to set-up a 7.2 on the side to study the framework to see how to duplicate the tasks..
    VDS in the middle is another thing as it would need to be able to communicate with your custom connector in 7.0.
    If you must stick with 7.0 maybe the GRC connector of 7.1 is worth a try.. But you would probably need also older VDS.
    Depending on the level of your existing customisations and what data from 7.0 is worth keeping the upgrade to 7.2 is not necessarily big thing compared to the effort of building the interim custom interface.. The real question is how big and complex is your 7.0 implementation?

  • Error in layout section of adobe forms

    Hi All,
    I am getting the following error while i try to open the layout section in adobe forms.
    "Error while opening document".
    I reinstalled the adobe livecycle designer and also installed the new version of adobe i.e. adobe 9/9.1 and restarted my system but still the problem exists.
    Can anybody help me out solve the problem at the earliest.
    Thank you in advance.
    Regards,
    Soumya

    Hi Somya,
    My problem gets resolved. What I done is simply restart the computer!! The Form Template task was hanged (even in task manager it was showing running). Once it gets killed, my layout editor is running again.
    If still your problem persist, you set the priority of u2018FormDE~1.exeu2019 to highest. Close all other applications on your PC while trying to start Layout editor.
    What I understood is, layout editor required lot of memory and hence we can try this above options!!
    Hope this will help you.

  • Stuck in 'Processing' after rebuild

    I have a 140k image library. I moved to Aperture because Apple advised me that iPhoto wasn't built to handle large libraries and I should move to Aperture.
    I only have about 110k images, the rest are duplicates because the iPhoto to Aperture conversion didn't complete fully and I had to import directly form an export - where all the 'versions' became their own images. But the duplication I can handle - I am on the ready with 'Duplicate Annihilator'
    The real problem is that Aperture keeps going into a 'Processing' state
    I have done several rebuilds after realizing that 'repair' wasn't cutting it.
    The rebuild takes 4 hours where it reports # versions restored
    After this - it is stuck in 'Procesing; - and I have left it for 24 hrs - and I don't think it is doing anything. Even 'Show Status Cmd-Shift-0 doesn't respond
    In Aperture, I moved all my events to 'referenced' - Not wanting to be in 'Managed' mode as was iPhoto
    Any pointers - ? Is there any way I can see if anything is moving within 'Processing'. Activity Monitor is pretty uneventful during this state
    I have to Force Quit it  - This is after a 'Rebuild ' !! From all my research - A rebuild is supposed to fix everything !
    iMac 3.2 GHz 12 Gb RAM
    Aperture 3.4.5

    The rebuild takes 4 hours where it reports # versions restored
    After this - it is stuck in 'Procesing; - and I have left it for 24 hrs - and I don't think it is doing anything. Even 'Show Status Cmd-Shift-0 doesn't respond
    In Aperture, I moved all my events to 'referenced' - Not wanting to be in 'Managed' mode as was iPhoto
    More than two days, that is close to the longest processing time I have seen reported here.
    If your library is truck on processing a corrupted image file after rebuilding, you could try to relauch Aperture with the shift-key held down. This will defer the generation of previews, and you should be able to open the Activity Window ⇧⌘0.
    Now select the images from half of your projects and run the command "Photos > Update previews".
    Watch the Activity viewer for the names of the files that are being processed and see, if any tasks are hanging.

  • Problem starting OEM 9.2.0.1

    Hi there,
    I frequently experience Problems when I try to start the OEM Console 9.2.0.1 on a Server running MS Windows Server 2003 R2 SP1. The first dialog opens, prompting me to choose Standalone Mode or Management Server Login. After making my choice nothing happens. The corresponding jrew task just hangs. Sometimes I need up to 5 tries to start the OEM Console, which opens up eventually, leaving me with lots of dead jrew tasks to remove. Sometimes it works on first try. I couldn´t figure out any cause for this behaviour. As i said, sometimes it works at once, sometimes I need a lot of patience. There are no error mesages, nothing in the system log no clue whatsoever ...
    Any Ideas ?
    TIA
    Christian

    I don´t use a Management Server, so I always start in Standalone Mode. And yes, I have the OEM on my Client too. Strangely, I have no Problems on the Client, only on the Server. Sometimes I need to work directly on the Server and it is much more convenient to have an OEM there as well (that is, if it starts ...)

  • TBird 31.3.0 Does it ever work?

    It does one task. If I'm lucky. Then it hangs and freezes and triggers the "not responding" message. Usually it doesn't even do that one task before hanging and freezing and not responding. And it's been like this for so long, I can't remember when TBird worked properly. Same thing in safe-mode.
    I'm tired of reading technical explanations and figuring out how to fix things especially when often, the proposed fixes, though well-intentioned, are illogical. I'm tired of the AV conflicts. I see that TBird can't get its act together. Surely there are other programs that work well with whatever AV program is installed.
    I think the thing to so is get another email program.
    Any recs out there for, you know, a good one ... one that actually works smoothly? "Cause TBird is atrocious.

    If the antivirus added any toolbars into Tbird, I would suggest removing them. Look in the extensions list. In fact, it might be a good idea to check with Tbird safe mode to make sure that it is or is not an extension causing problems.
    Failing that, I have been happy with SeaMonkey, so you might want to try that.

    I tried everything. Safe mode. Tool bar and extension removals and disabling. It's a piece of crap. I've been living with this hunk if junk for more than a year, mostly due to inertia and, I guess my general laziness.
    I've had it with the reading and parsing through technical explanations every month, and the crashing, and having to shut it down on purpose hoping that it'd run better after a restart. It's not working for me. Ever. Ever. I mean one mouse click and the program shuts down for, I don't know, 40 minutes, three hours, until I reboot my PC.
    This is no way to experience my email.
    I'll check out seamonkey. Is it a cloud based program? I'm looking to avoid the cloud. Thanks for your help.

  • Aperture 3 won't export at all: images held hostage

    Complaining about Aperture 3 is almost pointless now with the mess the program is obviously in, but I encountered a rather distressing problem I hadn't seen reported yet.
    I can't export anything. All of my photos are locked into Aperture. If I select any export option (say, Jpeg 50%) Aperture will start exporting it and never finish. It will sit there for hours if I let it. The file will never export. Activity viewer just shows Aperture attempting to export the image and never finishing. Basically, it's holding my images hostage.
    The crashing and hangups I can deal with (for now), but if I can't export a photo the program is literally useless to me. If anybody knows a way to fix this issue, please help.
    Message was edited by: Padriac

    I have now solved my problem, and it only cost me a day :-|
    I had a few corrupted master files. Aperture was running a task to process a lot of pictures, and whenever it was reaching such a corrupted file, the task would hang, and it would not be possible to start other tasks like exporting pictures.
    That rebuilding the library helped temporarily was just because after a rebuild Aperture would spend some time updating Places information, before it would start the processing task that would then eventually hang.
    I identified and deleted the corrupted pictures, which solved my problem. Finding the pictures was something that I had to do by hand, though.
    Since the problem is usually not with the pictures that one is working with at the moment, but with completely unrelated pictures, one possibility is to export the current project as a library and then work with just that library.
    So the problem was with corrupted files that I had in my library. Still I think that Aperture should handle a situation like this more gracefully. If a task hangs, it should be possible to learn which picture it is currently working on and to kill the task.

  • Very Slow EJB Redeployment

    Developers at my company experience the same problem described in this
    thread, but the thread ends without any solutions or advice. Does anybody
    know more about why EJB redeployment can take such a long time?
    I am deploying the application to a single, unmanaged server in development
    mode. The application is deployed to an exploded directory. My machine
    statistics are: P4 2GHz, 756MB RAM, Win2k, WLS 7. The weblogic admin tool
    returns the following version info:
    $ java weblogic.Admin -username installadministrator -password
    installadministrator VERSION

    WebLogic XMLX Module 7.0 Thu Jun 20 11:58:44 PDT 2002 190955
    I attempted to do a mid-deployment thread dump, but I get the following
    error. Is there another way to get a thread dump on Windows?
    Command Prompt:
    $ java weblogic.Admin -username installadministrator -password

    Next time you see this, take a thread dump (or several) of the server

    Hi, folks. I hope someone has seen something similar to this,
    because I'm running out of ideas.
    One of our developers has been having trouble re-deploying
    session EJBs on WL 7.0 under Linux. He prepares the .jar on his
    local machine, coppies it to the server's ejb directory, then
    uses the WL console to redeploy it (we're not running in auto-
    deployment mode since we're using a 2-server cluster).
    Sometimes (but not always) the deployment task just hangs with
    no messages. The only thing I could do to get out of it was to
    stop and restart both the cluster and the admin server. Then
    the new EJB deploys just fine, so I don't think it's a problem
    with his .jar file.
    A few days ago it happened again around 5pm,
    so I decided to wait until the next day to work on it.
    When I checked the next day, I saw that the EJB DID redeploy,
    two hours and fifteen minutes after the deployment task started.
    I don't think there are any 135-minute timeouts in the system,
    and since these are stateless session beans, I can't imagine
    what resources they could be holding on to. There was no other
    activity on the servers after about 5:45, yet his EJB didn't
    redeploy until after 7:00.
    Any ideas on what I should be looking for?
    - gary

    The redeploy doesn't always hang, so it took me awhile to get a thread dump
    for a slow redeploy. I've also included a thread dump taken during a healthy
    redeploy. Scroll down to "ExecuteThread: '8' for queue: 'default'" to find
    the thread waiting on the deployment. At first glance, I don't notice any
    difference between the two thread dumps. Would you like me to take a sample
    of several thread dumps during the deployment process?
    Thanks, Dave

  • FCP X Stabilization Box Not Always Available??

    I'm not always getting the option to add Stabilization to a clip. It seems to be related to multiclip, but I could be wrong.
    Lifting a clip from the storyline doesn't appear to help.
    I *need* stabilization for some of these clips! Any help greatly appreciated.
    ~Ryan

    Hi,
    It happens when you remove the audio from clip you had imported.
    Well at least that happened to me.
    I recorded clips using 5D2, 5D3 and a 1DX with native mic, Rode Mic and a H4N.
    Native mic, I replaced the audio with H4N's. Upon doing this, I realised, stablization option is gone.
    Pretty sure this is a bug.. Even detaching the audio, bring the volume down, the stablization option goes missing as well.
    If I were to stablise the clip BEFORE taking original audio away and use a different source, background task simply hangs at 0%. Had to quit the application and it will prompt/warn me that background task will also quit.
    This is however, solved by simpling reducing the volume of clip imported (blue) without detaching audio from clip). So that channel is silent and my new imported audio (from my H4N, green) is dubbed over my clip.
    Works like a charm. I think I complicated things myself when I detach the audio (which iswas my workflow!).

  • Workitem in progress

    Hi Expert,
    I'm facing issue with one of the task where sometimes I click on the approval button to trigger the task. In the portal, there is no error prompt, and no error at R/3, but the task just hang, which means the workflow process stop at the task. There is no error at all.
    Are there any report or program to make the task execute again?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Henry

    1) In the Workflow log it is showing INPROCESS right.
    2) If yes, Check that Task
                  a) Binding of the Task
                  b) Method which you calling in the Task, Check the coding in the Method
    3) Can you tell what message you getting in the workflow log.
