Temp Solution for Audigy 2/Zs System Hang!

Ok, everyone has been saying it is a conflict between the Audigy 2 card and the network card. Well, I think most people are right on that part. For the last 2 days I have been playing around with some settings. I have tested it while playing CS:Source for 8 hours today and I only had to restart once.
1. I went to www.realtek.com.tw
2. Went to the onboard network card driver download page. (realtek 8139 family)
3. Downloaded the Auto Install win98/me/2000/xp package
4. Extracted the package.
Next.
1. Went to the control panel
2. Uninstalled the network driver
Next..
1. Ran the Realtek auto install package
2. It installs the new winxp network driver
3. restart computer.
The real problem is windows xp by default puts a driver that is 3 years old. The newer driver seems to calm things down. Yet, I think most people online are right about getting another NIC card for your computer to take care of the problem. I hope this can help some people for the moment.

Hi Viridescent,
I have the same problem as you that my system will hangup with my Audigy2 sound card install.
So what your solution is to re-install the newer network driver from realtek right???
I will try to re-install my network driver and see if this going to help my problem.
Thanks.

  • Best Solution for Backup of Dual System(Mac & Win7) and Data Partition

    I need a professional solution of backup my dual-system, which are Mac OS Mavericks and Windows 7, and a Data Paritition.
    Right now, I have three partitions: Bootcamp (for Win 7 system, NTFS), DATA (for both system files, FAT32), Macintosh HD (for mac os system, HFS).
    Before on PC machine, I may restore the system with Ghost Tool, but since now I am using Macbook Pro. Cannot do that way any more I think.
    Also, the annoying thing is DATA partition, if I make it a FAT32 format, some large files cannot be copied into, but if I make it a NTFS, Mac OS cannot regonize it, right?
    What about using exFAT format? Never use that before, actually. I heard that format can accept large files and also be regonized by Mac OS.
    To sum up, two advices needed. 1. Win 7 partition backup and restore w/o breaking Mac OS system; 2. DATA partition format for both system.
    Thanks a lot. I appreciate your help!

    Use exFAT instead of FAT32.

  • MIRO: when trying to do miro for a vendor, the system hangs up

    Hi Friends,
    When trying to do Miro, the system hangs up and aborts.
    we faced the same situation sometime back, the issue with it was :
    Earlier Issue --> Base Unit of measure was changed from PC to SA after the creating the PO, this was creating the problem while doing MIRO.
    Current Issue--->but now  in this case there is no material number, only short text for the material description and the PO is account assigned. we have checked from PP side, things looks to be fine.
    No error message comes up, system just hangs up.
    Can someone help on this issue?

    You can't do a backup of icloud to an external drive.  In fact, does your post have anything to do with icloud (you're in the icloud forum)?
    What kind of "system backup" are you doing?  Are you using Time Machine?

  • Temp solution for e-SATA problems...

    Had a talk with CalDigit about this and they say it should work. It's a solution for now until Apple and Sonnet and CalDigit gets their stuff together.
    Here it is:
    Use an eSATA Extender. Cost like 30 bucks.
    Here's a link where you can buy the thing:

    Ignore this last post! I just tried this out and it doesn't work for RAIDs just yet. It might for you but not for me!

  • Will there be a solution for the dock stereo systems that do not charge?

    I have the JBL Radial and it will not charge the 3G...Before I buy a new one is there a solution to this???

    Good question for JBL.
    If a product does not include the "made for iPhone" designation, no.
    Some products that don't include this may work with the first generation iPhone but not with the iPhone 3G.

  • I found a temp solution for outlook contact sync

    I along with many 5G ipod users are unable to get itunes to sync their microsoft outlook contacts. I found a way to transfer all your contacts fairly quickly by exporting them as vtf contact cards.
    What you do, is select all the contacts in outlook you wish to export using shift or control clicks, right click on one, then under "send full contact", click on "In Internet Format (vCard)"
    This will open up a separate window that will send all those contacts as attachments in an email. All you need to do is right click on one of the attachments, and choose select all, then right click and choose copy. You can then just paste the files into your contacts folder when your ipod is enabled for disk use.
    I know this far from a permanent solution, but until apple can get it's act together and make it properly sync contacts, this will work for me.
    Keep in mind I did this with office 2007 beta. It may be slightly different for other versions, so you may have to play around with it a little.
    I hope this helps!

    At the risk of sounding sarcastic, a good solution is to use a room where you're not going to get the glare.  Something like editing photographs really needs a location where you can properly see and work with colours and contrasts.  Your problem is not your Mac, it's your location!

  • Storage solutions for Aperture Library & vault??

    My Aperture library has grown to over 400 GBs and I am concerned about storage as it grows larger week by week. I have been using two 500 GB firewire 800 drives, one for the library and one for vault. Today I purchased a 1 Terabyte drive for the library, it works well and I actually see a speed improvement. I will pick up another next week for the vault.
    Aperture lumps all of the data in one folder therefore requiring the size of our hard drive to keep pace with the Library. I need a different solution than replacing firewire drives with larger capacity ones every three to six months.
    My main requirements are speed and expandability. I do not want to keep several aperture libraries, to me this defeats the purpose of an image database.
    I have heard the pros and cons of raid and I do not think it's the best solution for an Aperture based system. Sata sounds interesting and seems that it may become more standard. I have also read about using an out-dated mac as a server by installing several hard drives and connecting it to the workstation by gigabyte ethernet. I would like to have my library on a very fast connection, firewire is fine for the vault. I am wondering what others are doing in the same situation as mine and if you might have any advice.
    With the purchase of the 1TB drives I figure that I will be fine until mid to late summer, by that time Apple will have their new desktop available which I plan to purchase. It might be best to see what the machine will or will not support. Any thoughts?........
    G5 dual 2.0   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    As the previous poster said: this is an Apple problem that needs to be solved. I might add, it probably will be in the near future. So, you should try to scrape by for the next few months as best you can and wait and hope and pray for a solution from Apple.
    With DVD and Firewire drives backing up your original you are well--probably over--backed up. One copy on DVD is more than sufficient for your originals. Make more backups of the Aperture library which includes your original file and your time consuming metadata and adjustments.
    RAID 0 is risky because if a single drive goes then you loose everything! There are other RAID schemes that make your system more dependable. RAID 1 mirroring is safer but doesn't expand your storage capacity.
    RAID 3 & 5 are both more dependable and give you bigger working volumes but there is a lot of processor work going on to calculate parity (error correcting and data recovery information) that is spread across several drives. If you use Mac OS X RAID or Soft RAID that processor power comes from you computer's CPU--which probably has enough work to do already without having to crunch numbers for every byte that goes to/from your hard-drive.
    RAID 3 & 5 are good systems if you have hardware to to the parity calculation but they each require a minimum 4 drives to make a set--which you don't want to use as a boot drive. That means you would need 5 drives inside your G5 of a combination of internal and external drives.
    A cleaner solution might be getting a Wiebe Tech Siver SATA V case and port multiplier card (about $1500 w/o drives). That will give you a good fast connection for 5 external hot-swappable drives. Then use Ben Long's library spanner to get you by until Apple comes to the rescue with a multiple drive library.

  • SAP system hang when start the addon.

    Dear Expert,
    I just upgrade one of the SAP B1 server from 2007A to SAP B1 8.8 PL15, everything going smooth both server and clients.
    Except one client (new laptop with Win 7 Pro x86), this laptop fail to start the addon.
    Others clients with same specs Win 7 Pro have no problem to start addon.
    Addon started manually.
    After click start button for that addon, the system hang. If without the addon system working fine.
    If anyone have ideas to check much appreciate and thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Mat

    Hi Bala,
    I did try your steps, but no luck. System still hang when start the addon.
    But, I can start SAP addon , example i try Screen Painter, and can start successfully. Only our addon cannot start.
    I'm not suspect our addon because others client working smooth, even the server also working fine.
    I did re-install DIAPI, even re-install SAP client a few time, but still fail to start addon (delete SAP client folder before install).
    Any one face this problem?

  • Automount: system hang on not available shares -- solution, alternatives?

    hello,
    i'm using snow leopard 10.6.5 on my macbook pro 13.3 with automount. my automount-entry looks like this (/etc/auto_master):
    /Users/abc/backup -fstype=smbfs ://abc:[email protected]/SHARE
    Works very well. I am connected to the network by wlan.
    Now I disable wlan (or switch my location to somewhere the share is not available). Once a programm (e.g. finder) tries to access the mount location, it hangs for ever. It should simply error out with something like "path not available" after e.g. 5 seconds and give up to try to connect (until the next access of the folder).
    So how can i have samba shares available when the network is up and no hang when the network is down? Is there any tool? I assume with "automount" it is not possible...?
    Regards,
    Markus

    simple shell script is the solution for different wlan.
    #!/bin/bash
    while true; do
    current_wlan="$(/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Versions /Current/Resources/airport -I | grep " SSID" | sed 's/.*SSID: //' | sed 's/ /__/g')";
    if [ -f "/etc/auto_mount/$current_wlan" ]; then
    if [ "$(readlink /etc/auto_lnk)" != "/etc/auto_mount/$current_wlan" ]; then
    rm /etc/auto_lnk;
    ln -s /etc/auto_mount/$current_wlan /etc/auto_lnk
    automount -c
    fi;
    else
    if [ -e "/etc/auto_lnk" ]; then
    rm /etc/auto_lnk;
    automount -c
    fi;
    fi;
    sleep 15;
    done;
    Simply run as root. Add /etc/auto_lnk to /etc/auto_master and put a file with auto_master-syntax in /etc/auto_mount/WIFINAME.

  • Backup solutions for Solaris 10 systems

    I am trying to put together a backup solution for a number of SunFire V240 systems running Solaris 10. We do run our backups using NetWorker, along with a couple of high powered back up systems. But this solution I am trying to create is something that can be performed by our first responders, our help desk folks. The systems in question are already in production but we do have days where we can bring them down for maintenance or whatever we need to do. Therefore, I can implement this new solution during the day(s) of maintenance time.
    I was looking at using Solaris Volume Manager and its metadata configurations. But I am unsure how to start with files sytems already created. I want to be able to have a backup of the boot disk in the event that the hard drive in which it resides goes down. I want our help desk folks be able to immediately bring the system right back up with little down time during the evening to late hours.
    I guess what I am looking for are exact steps to help configure this backup solution with Solaris Volume Manager for our production systems. Can anyone help?

    Hey there,
    Have a look at this excellent guide. I think that you may find what you need here. If not drop an email back. To begin with you need an extra disk(s) since you will mirror your data. This is sort of a pre-requisite.
    Good luck,

  • Is Sun Ray a suitable solution for system administrators?

    My company is deciding if Sun Ray can be a viable solution for system administrators for additional level of security since Sun Ray clients are diskless...less worries about malware or virus...etc.
    However, looking through Sun's available thin client machines, there is no selection of laptop form. As you can guess, sysadmins are mostly remote and on the go...it cannot be expected that they are always at their desks or homes to access the thin client machines. I understand the availability of the web client solution...however, have my doubts about that and how much would sysadmins actually embrace it.
    On the other hand, the inability of copy & paste as they are currently doing with traditional thick clients can be problematic too. One use case is when they test and build config on their desktops (say notepad), then upload to server hosts...or opposite, when they need to download logs to their machines and investigate...
    I am not going into questions about support of OS X and other tools sysadmins usually use...since the support of true remote access will be the biggest hurdle up front.
    Any comments?

    Hmmm. Very late to this conversation, but couldn't help to throw some change into the hat.
    For casual use of light-weight, non-power hungry applications, running apps via SGD over a Sun Ray (soft client or not) is probably ok. But if you were to try to do this for normal users who need PC-like performance, you'd be delusional. Display information will travel over the network 3 times and you can't take advantage of any of the new, faster graphics capabilities of the newer Sun Ray's when you introduce SGD as the means to access Windows desktop applications.
    To be explicit:
    Sun-Ray -> Sun Ray Server uses ALP.
    Sun Ray Server -> SGD uses AIP.
    SGD Server -> Windows Server uses RDP.
    If you deploy this widely, better go buy some stock in Cisco.
    I'd use SGD only for remote PC/Mac/Unix users who need to bounce in from the wild west.
    I'd use Sun Ray -> Sun Ray Servers + Windows connector (uttsc) for thin client access.

  • [Forum FAQ]Solution for Windows PowerShell console font issue when changing system locale

    Issue description
    After changing Windows System Locale to another country, users cannot modify Windows PowerShell console font to Lucida after modifying the font settings. There is also a potential bug report in Microsoft connect:
    https://connect.microsoft.com/PowerShell/feedback/details/806286/powershell-4-console-font-issue
    Reason
    In most situations, this problem is caused by system locale is changed to other countries from United States, such as Chinese, French, etc. Because of this change, the code page and font of Windows PowerShell console might be changed with system locale.
    For Example, if change system locale to Chinese (Simplified China), Windows PowerShell console
    (%systemdrive%\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\System Tools) properties would be changed like this:
    Solution
    To resolve this problem, please follow the steps below:
    Access to the path below to find the shortcut of Windows PowerShell:
    %systemdrive%\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\System Tools.
    Right click Windows PowerShell and choose Properties.
    Switch to Options, check if Current code page list there, if that it is, choose
    437 (OEM-United States) and click Apply. Maybe you will encounter an
    Access Deniedpop-up as the following picture.  Then you need take ownership of current PowerShell File, switch to
    Security Tab and obtain full control permission for current User Account.
    Note: if Current code page was not list there, just leave alone
    Options settings and switch to Font Tab.
    Switch to Font Tab, choose the font you wished to use, click
    Apply.
    After the above settings, current Windows PowerShell console font should works as you wished.
    Applies to
    Windows PowerShell 3.0
    Windows PowerShell 4.0

    Cause
    This issue is due to the bootmgr file, we cannot use the bootmgr file of Windows 7 to find the Windows 8 Operating System files.
    The Windows 7 bootmgr can indeed boot Windows 8.
    This is on a BIOS system
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVO5aeaKeeE
    This is on a UEFI system
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3-K6Fyobz0
    The Windows 8 bootmgr partially loads Windows 8 before offering the boot menu.  By choosing Windows 7, the system must do a reboot.  Using the Windows 7 bootmgr, no reboot is required.

  • Create solution for each system Landscape?

    Hi,
    We are using Solution Manager 4.0.
    We have created one solution and all of our ECC 6.0 systems with in ECC landscape have been already integrated with that existing 'Solution'..
    Now, we are implementing BI 7.0 system.Since this is seperate landscape
    would it be better if i  created another solution and integrate all BI systems with
    that?
    I thought of taking your opinion before i implement that.
    Thanks,
    Ram

    If you group them by system type, how do you classify the Leading Role of your Solution?
    You have to assign, Dev, Test, Prd, etc to the leading role of your solution, other systems in the logical component that do not have the same classification that the solution is assigned wont show up.
    edit -
    Once you have an active solution you can edit your solution settings and add other systems to your solution even if the leading role of your solution differs from one of the systems of your logical component.  You can simply add a system by adding the logical component that it is defined in, then right click on the system and click "add to solution".

  • Solution for Analog Stereo System

    I have been a Mac user for years. I currently have a Macbook Pro and have had it hooked up to my wireless network using the Airport Express. Due to a change with my VoIP carrier, I decided to get the Time Capsule. Everything is working just great, except I have no way of listening to iTunes through my stereo any longer.
    With the Airport Express, I plugged a monster cable into the back of my receiver and voila! However, there is no connection on the Time Capsule. Does anyone have a solution for me?
    Thanks!

    That makes sense; but it's not working. Perhaps I have something connected incorrectly? Cable modem in from cable. Then I have the Time Capsule. Off of there I have the VoIP connected to the phone and then cable connected to the AirPort Express. The AirPort Express just keeps blinking yellow and won't recognise the network. What am I doing wrong? I feel like a complete idiot!
